AUTHORS NOTE:
This is purely for entertainment and practice for my writing skills. I do not own, or claim to own, anything in the Tron universe. I did, however, create Xevra, so please do not steal her design.
I'm finally sitting down and writing this idea that has been in my head for years. I'm relying a lot on the Tron wiki, as I have only seen the two movies and TV show. I am taking creative liberty where details are vague, so things may not be entirely accurate.
Feel free to critique grammar and such in the comments, I'm always looking to improve! Hope you enjoy!
CHAPTER 1
The Program walked down the dark alleyway, unaware of the danger lurking above him. He was carrying critical Identity Data in his Disc; Data that Xevra's User required her to retrieve. Xevra almost pitied the Program, they always looked so peaceful before having their memory wiped, but it was such a fun task to steal the life from them. It gave her a thrill afterwards when she accomplished her task.
Xevra was perched on a beam spanning the dark alleyway, waiting for the right moment. As the Program walked underneath, unaware of the danger lurking above, she struck. Xevra landed silently behind the Program and before he could stop her she had removed his Disc and replaced it with an empty one.
Xevra always enjoyed watching as their eyes flashed and went blank, becoming lifeless husks destined to wander the Grid without purpose. She gave a sinister smile, tucking the valuable Disc into a pouch on her back as she walked away, leaving the Program staring ahead blankly in the alleyway.
Upon returning to her base, a small apartment near the Light Rail station in Bismuth, Xevra began the secure transmission of data to her User. She plugged the disc into her console, a miniature I/O Tower, and sat back, awaiting her User's words of confirmation. Xevra was created by her User to be a Hacker Program. Her job was fairly simple; take out the indicated targets and retrieve the sensitive data they held. Upon successful completion of a mission she was rewarded with another target. If she failed, she would be derezzed immediately to avoid any of her information being traced back to her User.
Xevra had yet to fail her User. She prided herself on being an efficient Hacker Program. She'd have to be even more vigilant going forward. The lifeless Programs wandering around were starting to be noticed by Security Programs.
Xevra was interrupted from her thoughts by the familiar ping of her User.
[Well done, Xevra.]
[Thank you. What is my next target?]
[Sending information now. Plug in disc]
Xevra removed the ID Disc and plugged hers in. Her Disc flashed a bright yellow momentarily before returning to it's normal orange glow. Xevra removed her Disc and reinserted it into holder on her back. Information on her next target flashed through her mind, encoded in her ID Disc.
[Information received. Target confirmed.]
[Good. Contact me upon retrieval. Out.]
The secure transmission ended. Xevra set to work studying the information transmitted to her. She was surprised at the security level of her target. This Program was much more dangerous than anything else she had taken on before. The information given said the Program's name was Taren, a high-ranking Program for a government official, which meant he always had at least one Security Program on him at all times. She knew she would have to plan carefully to pull this one off.
Xevra decided to power down for a few hours before beginning surveillance.
Xevra's information told her Taren worked in one of the large skyscrapers at the heart of Bismuth.
White lightning crackeled in the distance, reflecting off the glass of the buildings. Programs walked purposefully in and out of the imposing building in front of Xevra. Looking up, Xevra could see the top of the building outlined in a flash of lightning. She pulled her hood up against the rain that was beginning to fall and walked across the busy street, barely avoiding getting hit by as Light Roadster. The driver made a rude gesture at her in passing.
Xevra hated this area, she rarely had targets here, thank User. She hated the commotion, the wealthy and important Programs rushing everywhere, hated how her orange code stood out against the blue and white of other Programs. Another orange or yellow Program dotted the crowd, one of CLU's few loyal subjects in this city. Xevra wasn't one of those however, she could care less what this CLU did. His power in Tron City had no effect on her. Occasionally a Recognizer rumbled it's way over the city, no doubt looking for escaped or wanted Programs. Xevra made sure to steer clear of them, just in case.
The sky was clear however, allowing Xevra to conduct her surveillance in the open. Making sure not to appear suspicious, Xevra began her inspection in earnest. She would spend the next few milliCycles gathering the information she needed; where Taren spent his time, how many guards he had, the best time and place to strike.
