Summary: Set in Originals S5 and VD some time after Kat was killed in S8. When Rebekah runs across a human Kat that escaped the prison world Ric's former students were put in, will she be a decent enough person to save her? If so, can the Originals work together to save her life? Will Kat live? If so, can Kat make a plan of action to imprison The Hollow, instead of allowing Klaus to die? Will Kat and Elijah get their happy ending at last?

It was a nebulous night, as a human Kat walked through New Orleans, heading in the direction of the compound. She'd just come from a prison world. She hoped she could make it there. She needed help. She'd been attacked by Alaric's former students. That, and one of them had toyed with her like she was prey. She didn't blame her, though. Her humanity was off. However, she almost wished that she'd been attacked by Kai. He'd just let it happen like it was some show, though.

Suddenly, as she got close to the street the compound was on, everything blurred. She knew it was from blood loss. And as she tried to keep going, she used a hand on a brick wall to guide her. Despite how much she tried to keep going though, she felt the ground after a few minutes. Then, as everything began to go gray and then black, she heard the voice of the only person that could save her without using vampire blood. The person that despised her the last time she'd been human.

Rebekah Mikaelson had been walking through the nearly empty quarter during the late hours, heading home, but then she stopped in her tracks. From a distance, she saw a human and alive again Katherine. One that was injured. Because she was alive, she assumed that she'd come from a prison world.

After a moment of debating on whether or not to save her, she blurred over to her and knelt at her side.

"Stay with me, Katherine."

The blonde put a hand on Katherine's that was on her bite wound. She then used her phone to call for help.

Elijah was in another section of the quarter with Klaus. Klaus didn't want to endanger anyone, so he was going to kill himself. Because of this, Elijah had already told him that he'd die with him. Before either of them could do anything though, Elijah got a call from Rebekah, which Klaus listened in on.

"I need help. Katherine's alive. I think she escaped a prison world. If you want her alive, I need assistance. She's been injured," she explained. "I'm by Bourbon Street."

"I'm on my way," Elijah told her.

"I'm coming with you. I'll help," Klaus said, as Elijah hung up.

Rebekah kept pressure on her neck wound, which looked like a vicious vampire bite, and looked at her other wounds. She could see werewolf claw marks on her. Although she'd never much liked her due to her being able to escape her brother when she couldn't, she knew that no one deserved something like this. Not even Katherine herself. So, for Elijah, she was willing to try and save her.

"Katherine, I need you to try and stay awake."

About twenty minutes later, Elijah appeared a distance away with Klaus. That's when they both saw the damage. As soon as they saw that, they both blurred to the scene. For Elijah, it was because even after everything, he still and would always love her with his whole being. For Klaus, it was because he didn't exactly want her dead anymore. When she'd died years ago when she'd been human dying of old age at a rapid pace, his vendetta against her and hatred had left him for good. He'd never forgotten about her, though. He couldn't. And a part of him had always wondered since then where she'd ended up at afterward, knowing that the Other Side was non-existent. Now, seeing her, he knew where she'd been. He'd kept tabs on certain events in Mystic Falls, so he knew that her coming from a prison world meant that she'd had to come up against a werewolf and vampire, both of whom had turned out differently, because Alaric had been afraid to let them loose into the world after the mistakes they'd made. He also knew that there was someone else in that prison world. Someone that was a lot worse than himself and vampire Katerina.

"I need something to stop the bleeding with," Rebekah told them both, looking at them.

In a blur, Klaus disappeared to go to a nearby store, before reappearing with some towels.

"Here," he told her, kneeling by Katerina, as he gave a towel to his younger sister. He then used a towel to apply pressure to her lower stomach, as Rebekah quickly replaced her hand with the towel.

Elijah silently knelt at the other side of Katerina.

"Katerina," he said, not knowing what else he could say. He didn't want her to die, but knew she would if she didn't get healed. He knew that they had to get her to Freya. Preferably, without her dying on the way.

"Get her home. I'll let Freya know to be ready," Rebekah said. "Just keep pressure on her wounds. And it will help if you talk to her," she added to Elijah.

Elijah understood. He carefully and gently pulled her into his arms, applying pressure to both wounds that were the worse, and got to his feet with her, before blurring towards home.

Klaus looked at Rebekah.

"I'll accompany him. Get Freya."

Rebekah called Freya, as Klaus disappeared from sight.

Elijah rushed into the compound with Katerina, before gently laying her down on the table that wasn't too far from the stairs. He didn't know how long she'd been in the street before Rebekah had found her and had thankfully decided to save her life, but he could tell that she'd lost a lot of blood.

"Stay with me, Katerina," he pleaded. Despite being a vampire, he knew there wasn't much he could do. Klaus had informed him a while back about what had happened to Katerina, so he was afraid of trying vampire blood on her.

A few moments later, Klaus blurred inside the compound, ready to help save her. He could see that she'd lost a lot of blood, though. He could also see that she was pale from the blood loss, but could also hear her breathing slowing. He then stood at the opposite of her that Elijah was standing by.

"Katerina, listen to me. Keep breathing. Stay with me. I need you to fight this. We need you to fight this," Klaus called to her, as he rested a hand on her arm.

Soon after, Rebekah and Freya rushed inside the compound, which was when Freya immediately went over to her to heal her wounds. However, Rebekah had to still do her part, Kat having lost a lot of blood. She was the only one with the medical knowledge in the family, after all.

When Kat woke up, she didn't feel injured. She felt like she'd been healed, which, when she looked, she could see that she had been. She also saw that she was in bed in Elijah's room, Elijah seated on her bedside. He'd obviously been waiting for her to wake up.

"Katerina," he said, when she woke up and sat up in bed.

"Elijah," she greeted. "I guess your sister has some kind of compassion, after all. Even if she did this just for you."

"I'm glad to see that you're alive," he replied. "What happened?"

"When I died last time, which I assume Klaus probably told you about, I ended up in a prison world. Apparently, a couple of Alaric's students he didn't feel would be good to release into the world were sent there. You can guess what happened when I ended up there."

"I'm sorry, Katerina," he replied. "I should have been there."

"You were needed here. It's okay."

He got to his feet.

She got up from the bed, once he was on his feet, and before he could leave the room, she told him, "Something's wrong. I can feel it. What have I missed here?"

"An ancient spirit called The Hollow has risen. Klaus is trying to protect everyone by ending himself tonight, because it's inside of him. We don't have time to find another solution before it takes him over. We were both going to do it until Rebekah called and told us that you were injured."

It made her unhappy at the thought of Elijah dying with Klaus, but she didn't have to ask him why he'd do that. Without Klaus or even her alive, she knew that Elijah would feel like he didn't have a purpose anymore. And although Klaus had been her enemy for hundreds of years, she'd forgiven him on her deathbed, so she didn't want to see him dead anymore. Especially, if his death meant she'd lose a few people that she actually cared about.

"Where's Klaus now? We can figure out a way. Maybe imprison it somewhere. Freya can create a prison world perhaps. One that doesn't have to be linked to someone living. One that it will never escape."

"I suppose that could work, but only if we're not too late to stop him," Elijah agreed with her. Maybe when they'd been searching for a way to destroy it, all they should have done was imprison it in a prison world in the beginning. It seemed as though all they'd needed was to have Katerina back. The human version of her, anyway. He wasn't sure after all of these centuries if he wanted the vampire version of Katerina back. He'd always liked the human version of her.

Later that night, Freya successfully created a prison world and imprisoned The Hollow inside of it, taking it out of Klaus, saving Klaus from having to kill himself to protect those he cared about. And so, in doing so, Kat was able to save the Mikaelsons from being separated forever. And in the end, after everything was said and done, Kat and Elijah got back together again. Kat even stayed in the compound with the Mikaelsons.
