Closed the call Wil threw the phone on the ground and with his hands on his face burst into desperate tears.
He was hitting rock bottom. He was in a period of severe physical and emotional stress and it was not to be forgotten that he felt very alone.
The breakup with Natalie had been truly traumatic. They had been interrupted that night when she had joined him in the car to talk to him.
Then the incident with Tom Burke and the fact that the doctor learned in the worst possible way that Natalie had someone else.
What a joke, he had decided to risk his life to stay in Chicago for a woman who had already replaced him.
His friend Connor Rhodes with the troubles he had had for the death of his father had rightly decided to run away from that city. And who could have judged it?
Getting away from a place that evokes bad memories that make you forget the good ones.
- Maybe I could do the same, too, - Will thought from time to time.
And where could he have gone? And with what money then?
The doctor spent quite some time sitting there when he heard noises.
Ethan had also gone up to the terrace to take a little break and breathe some air while he sipped a coffee.
Dr. Halstead could not be seen in that condition even though the two were friends. He didn't want to arouse pity in anyone, he wasn't the type.
Remaining seated where he was he hid so as not to be noticed.
Choi stayed a while and then finished the coffee he went back to work.
Will was alone again.
He continued to cry for an interminable time.
Everything that was happening to him, the deaths of the people that day had brought him down.
Maybe that was what he needed.
When the tears finally seemed to end Will got up to go back to work.
He went down to the ER again and headed for the bathroom. He needed to make himself presentable again.
He washed his face, blew his nose and went back to work with his head down.
He felt drained, drained.
The tears had, at least in part, allowed him to release the tension and the malaise that was inside him.
But they had left a strong pounding in the doctor's head and a sense of nausea that he had been carrying on since he had run away from the emergency room.
Will immediately went back to work trying not to think about anything except to solve the problems of his patients. He had already lost two and so he didn't want to continue like that.
Fortunately, until lunchtime he only had light and solvable cases. Being able to treat his patients gave him a little confidence boost.
At that time even the belief that he was a good doctor was wavering.
