Will had succeeded in his intent. Before long he was back asleep.
He only opened his eyes when his phone started ringing again. On the display you could read that it was 10:00 in the morning. He had been able to sleep for about another two hours, but that hadn't benefited his health, in fact he felt even worse.
Looking away, he noticed that Meggie was calling him.
- Hello? - he replied in a sleepy and stunned voice since he was asleep and did not feel 100%
- Will where did you go? - she asked worriedly.
- I'm home, why? - asked the doctor, bewildered.
- At home? - Lockwood winced
- Yes, today is Friday. It's my day off this week. Halstead replied.
- Will move and come to the hospital. Today is not your day off. Last week you gave up on it saying you were happy to replace a colleague. replied the nurse.
It was true and he had completely forgotten it. Marcel Crockett had asked for a day off because of a business to attend to and he had offered to replace him.
- Sorry Megs, I forgot. I'll be right there. - he said closing the call.
He got ready in a second. He was already wearing his sweatpants, only changed his dirty T-shirt, put on a sweatshirt and tennis shoes and ran out to get in the car and go to work.
Fortunately he lived relatively close to the hospital.
But today he shouldn't have been driving.
He found it hard to keep his eyes open,
he was completely dehydrated his head hurt so much that he couldn't stay focused on anything for long. He risked making several accidents, but fortunately avoided.
About 15 minutes after the phone call, the doctor was already in the hospital in the medical room in front of the lockers to change.
He didn't look like him, he was pale, dazed, in pieces, without forgetting the headache and stomach acid that gave him no respite. After he changed, he walked over to Maggie and apologized for the delay.
- What happened to you? - Asked the nurse.
- Nothing, it's okay, don't worry,- he replied.
- Will You've been weird since yesterday, you seem out of the underworld. You're a corpse - Lockwood said with great sincerity.
- I'm fine Maggie don't worry, I just slept badly- he replied.
While he was speaking a strong fit of dizziness forced him to lean on the nurses' table in order to remain standing.
- Sit down Will I'll do a check on you - the nurse said.
- Seriously, there's no need,- the weary doctor replied.
Will knew what he had, what is commonly called hangover syndrome, but eventually he gave in to the demands of his friend.
