Will that day immediately threw himself headlong into work.
He was holding his tablet and was sifting through the files of patients admitted to Ed when Meggie arrived behind him and greeted him happily.
- Good morning Will -
The doctor who was focused on what he was doing blew up.
- Hi Megs, you scared me. - he said
- Sorry, I didn't want to - the woman replied displeased
- Don't worry, it's my fault, I was lost in thought.- Halstead explained.
- Something wrong? - asked the nurse
- No, all right. I was just reading the cases that were recorded today.
Everything eventually returned to normal, but Meggie soon added:
- What happened to your hair? -
She had them all in bulk and Will wasn't the kind to show up all messy at work.
- This morning I was taking a walk and as I came it started to rain and I got a little wet in my hair. I was wearing the hat so they took a shape of their own.- said he
- You're not that bad after all. - Meggie answered laughing, managing to snatch a smile even from the doctor.
Lately he was always sad and suffering so seeing his face illuminated by a flash of happiness was nice.
Unfortunately, however, that day too he was destined to take a bad turn.
Shortly after eleven in the morning, the Carsons arrived at the hospital and this case was turned over to Dr. Manning.
Mr. Carson had a chest rash infection accompanied by fever.
Dr. Halstead knew him and his wife. They were the parents of his brother's ex-girlfriend. They didn't have any intimate relationships, but they had met several times at parties and Jay had done nothing but praise his brother's skills at his work. Each time he made him blush.
If there was one quality that contrasted the doctor it was humility. He had never felt superior for his medical knowledge that ranged from plastic surgery to traumatology and emergency medicine.
When Will learned that Mr. Carson was there in the emergency room he decided to join him to pay him a visit, not because he did not trust Dr. Manning, but because he wanted to make sure of his health.
He would finish making the visit he was making and then go to find out about him who was acquaintance with him.
Meanwhile, in Mr. Carson's room, his wife was talking to the doctor who had made a first visit. The woman told Natalie that she would prefer her husband to be followed by Dr. Hastead.
- Nothing to take away from you doctor, but we have heard so much about the doctor's skills that we would like him to treat my husband. -
- I think the doctor is busy with another case, but we can ask him for an opinion as soon as he is free.
She wanted to avoid having intercourse with the doctor in every possible way, they hadn't broken up very well. The more she managed to avoid him, the better off she was. Unfortunately, she could not refuse to let patients talk to her colleague when they asked for it themselves.
Will came to visit his acquaintance.
- Hello, Mr. Carson. they told me he doesn't feel very well - he greeted him
- Hi Will, unfortunately yes, that's it. I would have preferred to meet you in other circumstances, but unfortunately ... - replied the man on the cot.
Then the doctor sat next to him so that he could hear in detail what the symptoms were.
After listening carefully to what Mr Carson Will had to tell him then he said:
- I have the impression that it is simply an allergic reaction. Perhaps he has been exposed for some time to something that has maintained and consolidated the allergy, also causing his feverish state. I would say to do more in-depth analyzes to understand a little more and establish the cure. -
- I have already instructed the nurse to carry out the tests. Once we have the results we will understand the most suitable treatment. Manning added
- Ok. So let's proceed as the doctor said and as soon as we have the results I'll take a look too to determine how to act.- Will concluded.
After about an hour the results arrived, both doctors agreed on the patient's problem, but they thought differently about the cure.
Natalie simply wanted to give a cortisone cream to act directly on the rash, Will instead preferred to use an antihistamine cream and an antipyretic for the fever.
The doctor contradicted the colleague in front of the patient, which made her furious.
Obviously the Carsons preferred to choose the cure described by Will.
The situation that arose was not easy for Dr. Manning to digest, in fact once they both left the patient's room the two began to fight.
Meggie realized that the two of them were going to end badly and sent them to the doctors room.
The doctor, usually sweet, calm, open to her explanations, had become a hyena.
For those few minutes of discussion she did nothing but scream in Will's face all the anger that she had in her body, even the one that was not due only to the situation experienced a few moments before.
She began by reproaching him for everything, starting with the fact that he had contradicted her in front of the patient and his wife.
The doctor tried in vain to speak, to tell her, but she never gave him time to argue.
- You shouldn't have allowed yourself to contradict me Will. You disgust me. Don't you dare approach me or talk to me. - said the doctor screaming and then go away.
