Chapter 5: A New Couple in Rio and Freedom at last

This will be a longer chapter than the last one

Blu and Jewel had been living in the Aviary for 4 weeks and they'd enjoyed being with each other ever since however Jewel was still desperate to be back flying again but luckily for her today was the day she would have her cast removed.

Jewel was in the Aviary's main treatment room with Tulio who had just finished scanning Jewel's wing to make sure there was no infections or muscle damage and was happy when he saw that her wing was back to normal before walking over to her with a smile on his face.

"Well Jewel your wing is almost back to normal so I can now remove your cast," Tulio said which made Jewel smile and squawk happily before spreading out her cast while Tulio grabbed a pair of scissors and placed the tip into the gap between the cast and her wing, "I need to you to keep still Jewel or I might catch your wing okay?" He said while she nodded nervously.

Tulio slowly cut along the centre of the cast before stopping at the tip and removing the scissors before gently removing the cast and chucking it in the bin. Jewel smiled as she moved her left-wing around to stretch it out and get a feel for it before smiling at Tulio who walked over gently picked her up and carried her back to the artificial jungle.

Tulio walked into the room and gently placed Jewel on the ground, "Now Jewel make sure you keep moving that wing around but no flying for at least another ten days okay?" Tulio said to Jewel who nodded in response before he turned around and walked out the room, closing the door behind him.

Jewel walked over to the tree pegs and slowly climbed up until she reached the top and walked into the hollow to find Blu sitting in the nest reading a book on the Amazon before looking up and seeing her, he smiled and set the book down as Jewel walked over to the nest and sat down next him before he draped a wing over her back to keep her comfortable, "So how's your wing Jewel?" He asked as she moved it around and flexed it slightly before tucking it into her side, "It's feeling great, a little sore but I can handle that, I just wish I could finally be flying with you" she said before looking down at the hollow floor in sadness.

Blu, being the kind and caring bird he was didn't like seeing his girlfriend feeling this way and thought of a way to cheer her up, he wrapped both his wings around Jewel and lay down in the nest with her before he slowly placed his talons on Jewel's and gently started to massage them, Jewel was caught off guard by this action but soon relaxed and closed her eyes. "You like that my precious gem?" Blu asked her to which she responded with a nod and nuzzled her head into his neck and moaning happily while he carried on massaging her talons.

Blu continued this for a while until he eventually stopped and removed his talons from Jewel's who opened her eyes and smiled, "Thanks for that Blu, that really helped soothe my sore feet" Jewel said while he smiled and softly stroked her back.

"Anything for you Jewel, you're the most beautiful bird I've ever met," Blu said which caused her to smile even more, "Well then, you deserve a reward for that my precious Blu," she whispered into his ear in a seductive manner making Blu blush madly before Jewel moved her beak closer to his until her beak locked with his in a romantic kiss, Blu's blush soon faded as his eyes closed and he kissed back, wrapping his wings around her tighter while she moved her wings around him as well as they continued their make out session.

While Blu and Jewel were enjoying their alone time, Tulio, Linda and Fernando were out for dinner at a local restaurant, so far they were discussing the progress of the new sanctuary that was currently being built in the jungle, "So we plan to open the sanctuary in a week and then release Blu and Jewel a few days after," Tulio said as he finished off his main course.

"That's great Tulio, but how will you stop smugglers from intruding into the sanctuary?" Linda asked, still concerned after what happened to Blu and Jewel last time, "Don't worry, we are having security camera's which will catch any smugglers trying to break through the fence and into the aviary," Tulio said to Linda who nodded in agreement before getting up and walked to the bathroom.

When she was out of site Tulio motioned Fernando over with his arm who leaned his head in curiousness, "What is it, you've been acting a little nervous lately," Fernando asked, "Well I really want to tell Linda how I feel about her but I'm not sure if she feels the same way," Tulio said, a worried look on his face.

Fernando smiled and placed a comforting hand on his, "Tulio, I've seen the way you two look at each other, she definitely loves you too so all you have to do is be confident tell her your true feelings," he said to the ornithologist who thought about it before smiling confidently, "Ok I'll tell her at the aviary tonight," Fernando smiled at his idea before they continued their meal.

Linda, Tulio and Fernando all arrived back at the aviary before making their way to the main lab where all of the injured birds were sleeping. "Fernando, can you go and check on Blu and Jewel, I need to speak to Linda in private," Tulio said before winking to him, "Ok Tulio," Fernando headed towards the breeding room while Tulio turned to face Linda.

"What did you want to talk to me about Tulio?" She asked him to which he smiled and took both her hands in his own before clearing his throat and looking at her with an expressive face. "Linda before I met you all I did was dedicate my life to saving birds but when I met you that all changed, I finally met someone that had the same personality similar to mine which is why I want to say this to you," he said as he looked at her with a loving smile.

"Linda, I love you, the way you talk and the way you smile brings joy to me and there is no other person is like you," Tulio said while he continued to hold her hands in a loving way.

Linda was speechless, she'd never heard anyone tell her how wonderful she was let alone from a man she'd only met weeks ago but deep down she felt that there was a strong connection between her and Tulio, Linda looked at him before throwing her arms around him and kissing him on the lips. Tulio's eyes widened as he never felt this much emotion from Linda before but soon he felt himself slowly giving in to his emotions and slowly closed his eyes and kissed her back, wrapping his arms around her.

The pair continued like this for a few minutes until they broke the kiss but continued to hold each other in a loving embrace, "I love you too Tulio, you are the most amazing person I've ever met" Linda said as she smiled with tears in her eyes. Tulio smiled before her in for another hug whilst resting his head on her shoulder.

Soon they heard clapping from nearby and they both turned their heads to see Fernando clapping his hands while crying tears of joy, "That was amazing you guys, I'm so happy for you," he said before walking up to them and wrapping his arms around them. Tulio and Linda smiled and moved their arms around Fernando as they continued to hug, wanting the moment to last forever

10 days Later

Today was the day that Jewel would be able to fly again and also the day that she and Blu would be released into the jungle to spend the rest of their lives together. The two macaws were sitting in the man made hollow with Jewel resting her head on Blu's chest while he wrapped a wing around her and softly stroked her head with the other.

"So, today's the day sweetie, where we finally get to live like real birds," Jewel said as she looked up at her future mate who continued to stroke her head. "Yeah, It's going to be great, But I'm a bit nervous Jewel," he said, a hint of worry in his voice as he rubbed the back of his neck with his wing.

Jewel smiled before leaning her head up and gently holding Blu's wings in her own while gazing into his eyes with a loving but serious look, "Blu I promise you that everything will be fine, like I said 'We'll figure this out together' so stop worrying your tail feathers about it, I will teach you everything about the jungle and how to survive," she said with a smile which Blu returned, "Thanks love, you always make me feel more relaxed," He said, his voice sounding more relaxed, Jewel smiled before leaning in and giving him a soothing kiss on his cheek which made him smile as she rested her head onto his neck.

A few minutes later, the door to the breeding room opened and Tulio walked in, "Hey lovebirds, it's time to go," he called out and listening before he heard an excited squawk from Jewel who hopped out of the hollow and onto Tulio's shoulder eagerly followed by Blu before he walked out into the main treatment area before placing the two macaws into a yellow cage.

He then carried them out to the jeep were Linda was waiting in the passenger seat and placed them on the back seat before he climbed into the drivers seat and drove the car out of the main gates onto the bustling streets of Rio as they made their way to the new sanctuary.

Soon they arrived at the newly built sanctuary which was based on the edge of the jungle just outside Rio, Linda and Tulio let Blu and Jewel out of the cage before walking up to the main tower with both birds perched on their shoulders, "well you two, this is your new home," where they climbed up the ladder and reached the viewing platform at the top which overlooked the whole jungle.

Jewel eagerly hopped into Tulio's hands as brought her towards the edge of the balcony, he then opened his flat as Jewel opened her wings before he threw her into the air and she flapped her wings for the first time weeks and flew up into the sky for a few minutes before she hovered in anticipation for Blu.

Linda slowly walked over to the edge before letting Blu hop off her arm onto the ledge where he looked up at her with a smile as the performed their signature fist bump together before Linda softly stroked the back of his head as he looked at her, sad he was going to see her that often before turning up to the sky and smiling as he flapped his wings and took off into the sky towards the love of his life.

Jewel smiled as her boyfriend flew up next to her and the two macaws nuzzled beaks, "Well Blu, do you want a tour of jungle?" She said in a joyful manner to which he nodded his head in response, "Lead the way my gem of the forest," he said making Jewel smile before they flew off into the sky.

For the rest of the day Jewel taught Blu how to find food and water sources before Blu lead Jewel to a small clearing in the jungle where Linda and Tulio's house was, next to the house was a large tree and at the top of it was a man made birdhouse, "This is our new home sweetie, what do you think?" Blu asked her to which she looked at it in amazement, "I think it's wonderful Bluey, easy access to the jungle, not too far from the aviary plus a few extra rooms when we decide to have kids," she said in wonder.

Blu's eyes widened at her mentioning them having kids, "uh sure Jewel, that will be lovely when that time comes," he said uneasily which Jewel noticed before walking over and placing a wing on his shoulder in a comforting manner. "It's ok Blu, I know we're not ready to have kids yet but when that time comes we'll do it together," she said making Blu look at her and smile, "Thanks Jewel, I love you," he said with a warm smile, "I love you too, Blu" she responded before they nuzzled each other lovingly.

"Now, come with me and I'll show you how to build a nest for the two of us," Jewel said in a loving manner which made Blu blush before they both opened their wings and took off heading into the jungle to look for dead twigs, leaves and moss to make their first nest as a couple.

Soon they arrived back and managed to build their nest without any problem, by the time they were finished the sun was starting to go down so the two macaws sat on the ledge to view the beautiful moment, "Oh it's so nice to be able to watch the sunset after so long," Jewel smiled as she leaned her head against Blu while cooing softly into his smooth feathers. "Yeah it is, especially now that you have me to watch them with," he said before lovingly wrapping a wing around her and kissing the top of her head.

Jewel giggled at his compliment, "Indeed Blu, you are the only bird for me and I wouldn't choose any other bird in the world," she said which made his smile grow before he shared a quick kiss with her before they carried on watching the sunset until the sun slowly dipped below the horizon.

The couple then retired to the hollow and laid down in their nest with Blu wrapping his wings around Jewel. "Well Blu, this is the start of a new chapter in our lives, I'm looking forward to sharing it with you," she said with a smile as she snuggled into his cosy chest "Me too Jewel, this is going to be a brilliant new life for both of us, Goodnight honey," Blu said as he lifted his wing up and stroked Jewel's head which made her purr softly before letting out a yawn and closing her eyes.

"Goodnight sweetie," she whispered before she slowly fell asleep, Blu smiled and gently rested his head on top of hers and closed his eyes, a smile on his beak, feeling amazed about how his life had just become a lot better.

Well Thats another chapter complete, Hope you enjoyed stand I'm really sorry for the long wait, been having a bit of a writers block and struggling to think of ideas but I promise I will be back with more chapters, I will be returning to "Adventures Of the Amazon" now to focus on completing that story but don't worry I shall be back to this story in due course.
