Maggie couldn't remember the last time that she had slept in late, even when they had days off she was usually up early and spending her day busy doing something, but this morning was totally different. She had slept until 11, which was really late for her these days and she had woke up with a smile on her face and she knew it was all thanks to the man that she had been on a date with last night. Maggie shook her head laughing as she hid her face in the pillow smiling like an idiot as she remembered the date last night.

Turns out she had no reason to be nervous about their date, Jubal had made her feel so at ease and if he was nervous he had hid it really well. He was the first person since Jason had died that made her want to go on a second date, actually truth be told she couldn't wait for their second date. He had been such a gentleman last night, kissing her on the cheek before he left, telling her he wanted to do this right and take things slow with her. She had no idea that he could be as sweet as he was, she really had seen a whole different side to Jubal last night and it was a side that was making her like him even more.

Maggie finally dragged herself out of bed and slid on shorts and a T-shirt after having a shower. She lifted her phone checking it and smiled seeing a message on it from her sister Mel asking if they could FaceTime today since Maggie was actually off work. They always tried to make the most of when Maggie had a day off, always trying to FaceTime so they could catch up on what was going on in each other's lives. She text Mel to tell her that she was just going to grab something to eat and then she would FaceTime her.

Maggie had been true to her word and was FaceTiming her sister less than thirty minutes later as she sat on the couch, she couldn't shake the smile off her face as she thought back to sitting on this couch last night with Jubal, holding hands, sitting close as they watched the movie.

"What has you smiling so much?." Mel raised an eyebrow looking at her sister on the screen as her smiling so much when she answered the call caught her a little off guard.

"I'm just really glad to have a day off, it's been a while from I've had a weekend off."

"Yeah but didn't you say that you just stayed in by yourself last night? You should have been out with OA or Kristen or on a date or something, when you actually had a Saturday night off."

"Trust me I am perfectly happy with how I spent my night last night. It was exactly what I wanted." Maggie had that genuine smile on her face again which threw Mel a little as it had been a really long time since she saw that smile on her sister. Maggie then let out a laugh as she read a message that appeared on the top of her screen from Jubal.

'Hope your body doesn't hate you too much after your cleaning and work out yesterday. We need to work on how you spend your Saturday's off work.'

Mel raised an eyebrow again hearing and seeing Maggie laughing "And what exactly are you laughing at?."

Maggie shook her head smiling still "Jubal text checking in to make sure I wasn't in too much pain after my work out yesterday."

"Wait as in your boss Jubal?" That caught Mel off guard "But Oh my God Mags seriously? You spent your day off at the Gym? I definitely need to come visit you in New York soon, help you actually enjoy yourself."

"Yeah my boss, I told you that we all get on really well. Why does everyone want to all of a sudden teach me how to spend a Saturday off work?." Maggie shook her head laughing.

"Who else is wanting to teach you how to spend your Saturday off?."

"Oh Jubal just made a comment that I need to work on how I spend my Saturday's off."

Mel couldn't help but notice how Maggie's eyes lit up a little when she mentioned Jubal, but she didn't want to say or ask anything straight out just yet because she knew that would cause Maggie to shut down. She was going to try and find out what she could without actually anything.

"I have to say that he is right, you may need someone to help you enjoy those days off especially at weekends."

Mel had been trying to get Maggie to go out on dates for a while now, she felt that the time was right for her sister to start dating again. It didn't help Maggie that she told Mel that OA was also currently trying to get her to go out on dates as well, he was even trying to help set her up. The two of them were both doing everything to get Maggie to give at least one guy the chance at a second date, but until last night the idea of a second date with anyone just hadn't felt right, but Jubal changed that. She just wasn't ready to tell her sister that yet.

Mel decided to change the subject as she could see that Maggie was already starting to shut down and that was the last thing that Mel wanted. She wanted to check the reaction she would get when she mentioned Jubal's name by reminding Maggie to text him back just before they hung up. Mel was rewarded with a large smile from Maggie saying that she would text him back, that was when she knew there was there definitely something there, did her sister have a crush on her boss?.

Maggie got up and made herself a coffee before coming back to sit on the couch and lifted her phone texting Jubal back. 'Sorry for late reply was on FaceTime with my sister, but thankfully my body doesn't hate me today, actually slept until 11. That's like sleeping until dinner time for me! Thank you for checking in though. I think how I chose to spend my Saturday night was pretty perfect, you offering to help with during the day too?'.

Jubal had been sorting some things out in his apartment when he had heard his phone alert him to a message, he was a little nervous as Maggie hadn't replied to him and he thought that maybe she had agreed to a second date to be nice to him last night. He lifted his phone straight away when he saw her name on his screen and he smiled as he read the message especially reading how she called last night pretty perfect. He leaned against his counter replying to her,

'Hope you had a nice chat with your sister. See? Even your body is telling you that yesterday was not how to spend a day off. We both know that I am going to jump at the chance to help you make the most of your days off, but you are right, last night was perfect.'

'Apparently I was freaking her out a little with how much I was smiling, which you are to blame for by the way. Well then our next day off that you don't have the kids you can help me make the most of the day. I'm sorry I'm going to have to keep this message, you just admitted I was right… This needs framed.' Maggie had no idea where the decision came from to be honest about her smiling so much today and it being because of him. Way to play it cool Maggie.

Jubal was completely caught off guard when he read that he was to blame for Maggie smiling so much, she really had enjoyed last night, now that had him smiling like a fool as he text her back. 'I am more than okay with taking the blame for that, actually pretty honoured to take the blame for you smiling so much. Now you have me wanting and hoping for a day off soon that the kids are with their mum so we can have our second date. I should never have put it in writing that you were right, you're gonna hold it against me aren't you?'

'My sister makes it sound like I don't smile, or maybe I just smile a lot more after a really good date with a very sweet and charming man. We will get our second date, there's no time limit, neither of us are going anywhere, I know your kids come first and at least we know what our jobs can be like. We both know you would be totally disappointed in me if I didn't hold it against you.'

'You had another date after I left?... Thank you for being so understanding about getting time with my kids coming first, but at least we can see each other at work. True, I would be doing the same thing if the roles were reserved, so only fair you keep the message.'

'Oh whoops I wasn't meant to tell you I had another date….. We both know that I'm talking about you, but don't worry Jubal your secret is safe with me… You being a dad will always come first no matter what, I know that and would never expect that to change. You sure you aren't going to be too sick of looking at me at work to have a second date?'

'You know I can tell you were smiling writing that message, now I just wish I was there to see it. Oh I've no fears about that I know I can trust you, it's why you got to see the other side of me last night. You kidding? You actually have me looking forward to work tomorrow just so that I can see you again.' Jubal held his breath a little as he sent that message not sure how Maggie was going to react to his honesty.

Maggie's breath caught a little as she read Jubal's message as she replied to him 'I'm pretty sure it's the smile that you saw most of last night. Still going to take a little getting used to seeing this side to you, never thought I'd be the one getting this insight. Is it Monday yet?'

Jubal smiled when he read Maggie's question about if it was Monday yet as he knew that was her saying that she couldn't wait for tomorrow either. They spent the rest of the day texting, neither of them could really remember the last time that they had text someone this much, if they had ever text someone this much before. They finally said goodbye to each other as Jubal was going to spend the rest of the evening with the kids as they were back from seeing Sam's family. Maggie told him to enjoy his time with the kids and that she would see him tomorrow. She was surprised as she climbed into bed and received a message from Jubal.

'Just home from seeing the kids, just wanted to say goodnight Maggie and can't wait to see you in the morning.'

Maggie shook her head smiling reading the message as she replied 'Hope you had a nice time with them. I might even find an excuse to be a little early tomorrow, goodnight Jubal.'

Jubal read the message from Maggie before setting his phone to the side going to sleep with a smile on his face.

Jubal was in early as always as he had his morning briefing with Isobel, but this morning he was slightly distracted, he found himself looking out in to the JOC keeping an eye out for when Maggie came in. It frightened him a little at just how much he really wanted to see her, he knew that he was falling hard for Maggie and the minute she had agreed to their first date he wanted to do everything he could to show her that they would be great together as a couple. He had to try really hard to hide the smile on his face as he saw Maggie walking through the JOC making her way to her desk, he saw that she glanced at him while making her way through the JOC. Jubal checked the clock behind Isobel and couldn't help the smile that appeared as he realised that Maggie had come in earlier than usual.

"Eh Jubal you okay over there?." Isobel raised an eyebrow looking at him, unsure as to why he was just sitting staring at her clock smiling.

He shook his head trying to stop the thoughts as he looked at Isobel "So sorry Isobel I zoned out there for a few seconds. Where were we?."

"I had just finished up, I was thinking that was why you were smiling, since we got finished up earlier than I thought we would."

"Oh right, great. Sorry again about that I was just thinking about something my kids said last night." That was the first thing that came to Jubal's mind that would be accepted as a reason for him smiling.

"No need to apologise, at least I had your attention for the important parts of the briefing." Isobel shook her head smiling, her and Jubal had built up a friendship while working together so the light friendly banter was normal.

"I'm going to go get myself a large mug of coffee, make sure that my attention is ready for the rest of the day ahead." Jubal smiled as he stood up and he left Isobel's office and walked towards his own desk setting down the folder that she had given him. He then made his way towards Maggie's desk but she wasn't sitting there, so he had a feeling he knew where she was. There was only two places that she could be so he decided to check the one closet to him first.

Maggie was standing in the empty break room as she was waiting on the coffee, she had put on a fresh pot after setting her stuff down at her desk. She couldn't help the smile that was on her face as she saw Jubal was looking her way when she glanced at him, God why did him looking at her make her smile so much now. She really had to pull herself together or she was convinced that everyone in the JOC was going to know that she had a date with Jubal on Saturday night. She was pulled out of her thoughts when the reason for her smile could be heard speaking behind her.

"I was wondering if you would be in here or down in the gym." Jubal smiled as he walked into the break room and made his way over to where Maggie was standing.

Maggie chuckled softly as she looked over her shoulder watching Jubal walking towards her, dam did his shirts always fit him so well at work? One date with this man and he was now distracting her so easily at work, she really was in trouble when it came to her feelings developing for Jubal. She realised she was kinda staring at him so she cleared her throat shaking her head.

"Decided to pass on the gym, I know I said my body didn't hate me yesterday but it's still going to need another day or two before I try working out again or it will definitely hate me."

Jubal had noticed straight away that Maggie was staring at him, well his chest and arms to be specific, it sent a thrill through his body to know that was her reaction to seeing him again for the first time since Saturday night. He leaned against the counter close to her, standing much closer than they normally would have stood in an empty break room.

"Well I'm sure your body thanks you for the break, even if only temporarily. I see that you decided to find that excuse to come in early though." Jubal had a playful smirk on his face, their banter always felt exciting to him but now there was flirting added to it and his smirk was proof of that.

"That excuse happens to be standing smirking at me right now… but I'm hoping that he doesn't let that go to his head." Maggie was now wearing a smirk of her own.

"I don't know it's pretty hard not to let it go to my head when a beautiful woman is telling me that she came to work early just to see me." Jubal had leaned a little closer to Maggie while talking, now his left shoulder was resting against her left shoulder as she was standing beside him but facing him.

Jubal being so honest and sweet by calling her beautiful caught Maggie a little off guard as they were at work "I thought you said that your sweet moments didn't happen at work?" She raised her eyebrow playfully trying to calm her racing heartbeat.

Jubal moved his hand to rest on top of Maggie's that was on the counter "I meant that when other's were around, when it's just us I am going to show you the real me. I meant it when I told you that I didn't want to hide this side of me from you anymore."

Maggie smiled when she felt Jubal's hand on top of her's, she had noticed that he had been initiating physical contact from the minute that he stood beside her. First their shoulders resting against each other and now his hand on top of hers. She moved her thumb so that she could caress his hand that was resting on hers. "I still can't believe I'm the one that's getting to see this side to you, now you have really made coming in to work early totally worth it." She smiled that smile that he had noticed for the first time last night and she was making it so hard for him not to lean in and just kiss her right now.

Before Jubal could reply to Maggie they could hear people coming towards the break room so Jubal stepped to the side leaving a little bit more room between him and Maggie, just enough space to look normal for friends, co-workers, but still close to her. Maggie smiled as she watched Jubal not wanting to step too far away as she focused on the coffee pot and making him and herself some coffee.

OA walked into the break room with Kristen and he smiled seeing Jubal and Maggie "Oh Maggie is there enough in that pot for me and Kristen?."

"When did I get the job of making everyone coffee?." Maggie raised her eyebrow playfully as she looked over her shoulder at OA and Kristen who were now sitting at the table closet to her and Jubal. She poured Jubal his cup first handing it to him, smiling softly at him trying to keep it quick as she didn't want the other's to catch them.

"You just happen to be closest to the coffee pot right now that's all." OA leaned back in his chair as he spoke.

"I think we are both still a little hungover, you missed a good night Saturday night Maggie, you should have joined us." Kristen was speaking to Maggie's back as Maggie was pouring coffee.

Maggie glanced out of the side of her eye at Jubal who was still standing beside her, she couldn't help the larger smile looking at him as she knew that he was the only one that could see it right now. "I don't regret how I chose to spend my Saturday night. I appreciate you guys asking me to join but I really was happy with how my night turned out."

Jubal had to take a drink from his mug to hide the smile that he had on his face when Maggie glanced at him. Trying to hide the fact that he had been on a date with Maggie was harder than he thought, he so badly wanted to lean in and kiss her right now as she looked so beautiful smiling at him. He was drawn from his slightly dangerous thoughts when he heard Kristen.

"What about you Jubal you get up to anything nice this weekend?."

Maggie had turned around to hand OA and Kristen their mugs and was walking back to the counter to lift her own mug, she smirked when she could feel Jubal glance at her. It was so quick that she knew that OA and Kristen hadn't even noticed, she couldn't help her smirk as she saw Jubal was struggling to hide his smile.

He finally gave up trying to hide the smile as he leaned back against the counter looking at OA and Kristen, making sure to not look Maggie's way as he was sure that Kristen and OA would know straight away if they caught him looking at Maggie while talking about his weekend. "My weekend turned out much better than I thought it was going to be, definitely a weekend I would be happy repeating."

Kristen and OA were totally oblivious to the fact that Jubal and Maggie were both currently smiling for the same reason, they were both making sure to not look at each other, which right now was not very easy for either of them. OA sipped his coffee as he looked at Maggie and Jubal,

"We are sorry that we just left you both with the paperwork here Friday night, I hope it didn't take you guys too long to get finished up."

Maggie had to drink her coffee to hide the smirk on her face, man this trying to not look at Jubal was much harder than she thought it was going to be. When OA mentioned the paperwork Friday night her mind went straight to the turn that their night had taken and how that had changed their whole weekend. Jubal knew that Maggie had taken the drink to leave him to be the one to answer the question from OA, dam smiling while talking about paperwork was not normal but he wasn't sure there was anything that could take away the smile on his face right now.

"It's okay OA, I told you guys that you could all go home, and we got take out that the bureau paid for, so it turned out to be a pretty decent night in the end."

If only OA and Kristen knew how the night had really turned out, but neither Maggie or Jubal were about to reveal that to either of them. They were saved from anymore questions or having to talk about their weekend while also hide what they were really up to when Isobel appeared to tell them that they had a case.

The next few days with the cases were crazy, the team were working non stop with very little breaks, they were only going home to catch some sleep and grab some proper food before returning to work. Jubal and Maggie had been stealing moments at work to talk when they could, just to check in with each other, make sure they were both doing okay. Maggie had been surprised on the Monday night when she had gone home for the first time since they got the case that she received a message from Jubal who was just checking in and telling her to try and get some rest and that he would see her tomorrow. The texting when not working had become part of their routine on this case and it was something that they were both okay with and actually both really happy about.

The team finally got the case wrapped up on Friday around 2pm so Isobel had told them all to head home and enjoy their weekend that they had earned it with the hours they had put in on this case. Maggie was packing up her things at her desk when Jubal appeared sitting on the edge of her desk, she leaned back in her chair looking up at him.

"Please don't tell me that Isobel has changed her mind or that we have another case already?."

Jubal shook his head laughing softly "No, I'm not sure she would risk changing her mind with how tired you all are from this case. So if your answer to my next question is a no I completely understand…. I don't have the kids until tomorrow morning so I was wondering if you wanted to have our second date tonight?."

Jubal knew that Maggie and the whole team were exhausted after this case with how little breaks they got to take so he really did understand if she turned him down, but when his plans changed and he didn't have the kids until tomorrow he thought it was the perfect opportunity. He had kept his voice low so that only Maggie could hear him, and she was actually the only one close to him right now he wasn't sure where OA and the others were.

Maggie was sure that Jubal was sitting down on her desk to tell her that they weren't allowed to go home early after all so she was definitely surprised. Yes, she was exhausted and had been really looking forward to going home and crawling in to bed but hearing Jubal's question had her smiling softly at him, the one that lit up her eyes.

"You sure that you don't want to just relax tonight with having your kids this weekend? Like you said this case was exhausting for everyone involved?." As much as she wanted to say yes straight away she wanted to make sure that he really was sure about it.

Jubal smiled hearing Maggie, thinking about him having energy to be with his kids, she really was so understanding when it came to his kids. "Maggie, I didn't leave the JOC, I may not have got much sleep on this case but you and OA were the ones out there chasing the suspect not me. Anyway spending time with you happens to be very relaxing."

"Hey chasing him just saved me having to squeeze in a gym session." Maggie smirked playfully and chuckled when it got the desired laugh from Jubal. "I was planning on going home and crawling in to my bed but I can catch up on sleep tomorrow or Sunday, so spending time with you tonight sounds perfect. Did you have something in mind?."

Jubal couldn't help that his smile grew when he heard Maggie agree to spend time with him tonight "Can you come to mine for six?." Jubal checked his watch and then nodded "Yeah six will give me plenty of time."

"Plenty of time to do what exactly?." Maggie raised an eyebrow playfully, he had clearly something in mind for their date and that intrigued her. She always liked having control when it came to things in her life but when it came to Jubal she realised that wasn't the case, she totally trusted him and that thought scared her a little.

"Now that agent Bell is a surprise." Jubal smirked playfully "Be at mine for six and you will find out and just bring yourself nothing else."

"Letting you surprise me takes a lot of trust you realise that right?." Maggie had said it in a playful tone but it was the truth.

"I do but I promise you won't regret it." Jubal checked around to make sure that no one would see as he leaned over squeezing Maggie's hand gently "I can't wait to see you tonight."

Feeling his hand on her's had Maggie smiling so much "When it comes to you I believe you…. And I can't wait to see you either… Now I need you to disappear and stop distracting me so that I can go home and get ready for my hot date tonight." She smirked playfully looking at him.

Jubal shook his head laughing as he stood up from her desk "You already look beautiful, so it won't take you long getting ready Maggie." He smiled that sweet reserved smile she had recently found out about before walking away from Maggie's desk heading back in to the JOC.

Maggie sat back in her chair as she watched Jubal walk away from her and back into the JOC, he really was so sweet to her, she had already lost count of the number of times that he had called her beautiful. This man was surprising the hell out of her and she was enjoying every second of it.
