Beep. Beep. Beeeeeep.
Hiccup groaned a little as he woke up, rubbing his forehead as he accidentally stared through the window into the morning light. The dull beeping continued and he realized it was coming from his alarm clock in his room. Which also explained why he'd looked into the light. His bed wasn't positioned towards the window, but Merida's was.
He smiled over at the redhead, who was still dead asleep. She still wasn't a morning person, something not helped by their consistent bot fighting and evening hour schedules. Her hair was puffed up over her head and pillow, creating a thick cloud of curls around her face. Hiccup brushed one particular strand off of her forehead before leaning down and kissing it.
"Good morning," He mumbled, but Merida was still too asleep to respond. He smirked and climbed out of bed, heading over to his room to turn off the alarm. When he opened his door, Toothless ran out, whirring incessantly in annoyance for being locked up in Hiccup's room the whole time.
"Good morning to you too, reptile," He muttered, watching Toothless run down the stairs to the workshop. Hiccup quickly turned off the alarm and headed back to the kitchen to make himself some cereal, checking his phone for any news from Jack and Rapunzel as he went.
There was nothing new, but he'd gotten an email from Flaversham's, telling him that his order had arrived.
"Good," Hiccup mumbled. "I can finally start those wings…"
"The leaves are actually pretty nice right now," Hiccup thought to himself as he sped back up the hills towards The Cove. He had to pick up a little bit of speed, because while they'd canceled their afternoon shift to give Merida more healing time, they were still expecting a dinner rush.
Vrooooom. Vrrrrrroooooooom. Vroooooooom.
Looking in his rearview mirror, Hiccup was surprised to see a trio of motorcycles speeding up behind him. He didn't recognize the riders, but his eyes widened when he recognized the familiar logo emblazoned on the leader's jacket.
Grimtech.
Hiccup's hand went to the satchel draped over his shoulder, where Toothless was currently 'snoozing'. It figured, once the company got Merida's bot, it was only a matter of time before they closed in on the other Cove Golems.
The motorcycles were getting closer, so Hiccup put on more speed. The chase wound up the hilly road, zooming past winding corners that dipped the riders closer to the concrete, making the already semi-dangerous path much worse.
Hiccup looped down a side road that would match back up with the main road later, hoping to get the men to call off the chase. They didn't, and only followed him through the woods.
"Come on… come on…" Hiccup muttered to himself, lowering his body to match the motorcycle more as he zipped over roots and away from rocks, he could just see the road when a long black car pulled into view and blocked him off. Hiccup's eyes widened in fear and he swerved to avoid a collision and sped out of control.
Hiccup hit the ground hard as he bounced across the asphalt and hit the ditch on the other side of the road. He groaned as his body exploded in pain, his leg crying out from where the motorcycle had pinned in.
"Grab the bag!"
Hiccup winced as someone ripped the satchel away from him. The motorcycles roared to life again and sped off, followed by the sound of the car peeling away after them. Hiccup finally opened his eyes and tried to sit up, only to be stopped by the heavy motorcycle lying on his leg.
"Odin's crows." Hiccup muttered, trying to pull his leg free. "And they got Toothless, and now I'm here, by myself, with this stupid leg!"
Suddenly, a light whirring started to buzz in the underbrush behind Hiccup's head. The brunet lolled his head back to try and stare into the woods, but it was just bushes and tree trunks.
The whirring got louder as a small black shape bounded out of the trees and landed on Hiccup's chest.
"Toothless!" Hiccup cried happily, once again trying to sit up. "You're safe!"
The dragon bot cocked his head to the side as if to say 'you doubted me?' and jumped off his fighter's chest to try and free his leg. Hiccup bent over as far as he could, fingers finally brushing against the latches to free his prosthetic leg. With a little help from Toothless, his leg came free and Hiccup was able to move out from under the bike. He used it to stand back up, and picked up the prosthetic.
"Odin's crows!" Hiccup cursed again, examining the bent metal and groaning. "Toothless, this sucks and I blame you,"
The robot whined again, and started off towards The Cove. Hiccup rolled his eyes and started pushing his bike, limping back up the road home.
But as he walked, there was a low anger brewing inside him. And as Hiccup Haddock walked, using a broken prosthetic and following an almost-kidnapped robot, Hiccup Haddock formed a plan.
"Hi, welcome to The Cove, how many people are in your part- oh my god Hiccup!" Rapunzel shrieked, watching as Hiccup pushed the door open and limped inside. He stormed past her and through the tables, dead set on the workshop.
He disappeared into the workroom, leaving Jack, Rapunzel and Merida concerned outside.
Three hours later, when the restaurant had closed down, Jack led the girls into the workroom. Hiccup barely looked up from his table, which was full of different parts and attachments. Toothless bounded through the junkyard of pieces, curiously examining different ones. Pascal watched, occasionally poking in himself.
Hiccup sat in the middle, goggles on, lights focused on his project, which Jack realized was the Bunnymund.
"Hiccup?" Merida asked quietly. "Wot are yeh doing?"
Hiccup looked up and put his screwdriver down, flipping a switch and closing the panel.
"Getting everyones robots back. This weekend," He said, just as Bunnymund's eyes and frost circuits glowed bright blue. As if on cue, Toothless's wings popped out as his thrusters powered up, and Pascal's tail blades extended. Hiccup sat in the middle, goggles reflecting the power, with a look of absolute determination stuck on his face.
Authors Note: Oooo... Hiccup's angry...
On that note: five more story chapters and one bonus chapter to go! This story was a blast to write and I'm enjoying posting it just as much. It really makes my little side-writer heart happy when I see that other people enjoy it too. I think I'll be posting Nightmare Children next, followed by Lionhearted (Voltron AU), but I also want to tell you that The Omega Project is moving along for all you Futuristic Four Fans. Don't worry, theres a good chunk of our OG four in there as well.
