Groceries, Twins and Little Arrow

Walking through the grocery store it was just like every other Saturday for her. Wake up get dressed, make breakfast, go to the store if needed, head back home to study and hope beyond hope the host club wouldn't disturb her, but what she didn't know is the regular trip to the store would change not only her future but also how she saw her past (mostly her mother).

Walking down the aisles Haruhi was getting what she would need for the rest of the week for her and Ranka. Knowing that he was working late most nights this week at the bar she needed things that would be quick and simple. While getting the last of it she bumped into someone.

"I'm so so sorry I should have been paying better attention." Haruhi

"It's no problem really I am terribly lost and am standing in everyone's way'" Said the woman who Haruhi thought looked vaguely familiar but couldn't really place it.

" I really should have made a list or something before I came in but I was in such a rush I totally forgot."

"Is there anything in particular i can help you with, I know the store pretty well, I could at least point you in the right direction". Replied Haruhi

"Really I'd hate to trouble you, you look like you're on your way out. I wouldn't want to take up your time. I just need some basic things. I just moved nearby and I need food for myself and two little kids for about a week." Answered the women

Shocked by the statement this woman didn't seem old enough to have two kids but who was she to judge. "Do they need lunch for school, do you eat together, what do they like? I'm Haruhi by the way."

"Haruhi it is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Kasani but everyone calls me Sani. As for the food um….. They will have lunch at school, we eat other meals as a family. As for what they like, I'm not entirely sure we just moved here from Hawaii and back home maids usually did the shopping."

So she had maids why doesn't she have them here, weird rich people. "Well how old are they? If you knew what flavors they like we could find something similar here."

"They are 11 years old. As for what they like, I'm not sure. I was at school for the past few months and they were with our makua. Getting a confused look from Haruhi she corrected herself. Sorry um parents, they were with our parents. I'm taking care of them here until our parents can join us."

"Oh, so they are your siblings , that's so nice of you to take care of them." Why didn't they stay with your parents until they could all come together. Haruhi thought while showing Sani around to some simple breakfast and dinner things.

They walked around together for a while while Haruhi pointed out different things that she thought the kids might enjoy while also learning a little bit about the family. Their parents were part of a big and powerful family that resided in Hawaii. When Sani transferred to Ouran University from NYU her parents asked if she would be okay watching her younger siblings for a while so they could attend Ouran Elementary. She jumped at the chance to spend more time with them.

Haruhi had a burning question, that she just couldn't figure out. "If your family is in Hawaii why would they send kids to Ouran."

"It seems odd doesn't it, there's plenty of good schools in the states. You see my dad and that whole side of the family is from japan. They relocated to Hawaii when my dad was a kid and he loved the time spent in school here so when my transfer got approved they thought it would be a great opportunity for my siblings to get a chance to live their heritage for a bit. So my dad applied for them for this semester and when they got it they asked if I could take them with me."

With both their shopping done and paid for they headed out of the store Haruhi starting to walk and Sani heading to a car.

"Hey wait, I can't thank you enough for all your help there. I don't know how i would have gotten through that alone. Is there anything I can do to repay you? Do you need a ride?" Asked Sani

"It was really nothing. I was happy to help. I live just down the street, it's not that far I walk it all the time."

"Please I feel like I need to do something, plus driving you will help me get used to the neighborhood. And I need to be able to get the twins to school before my first class in the morning. So me driving you is really you helping me again."

"Fine when you put it like that, i can't have you risking all your education if you get lost. Thank you for the ride. I'm right down the street. Let me just put my bags in the trunk."

As they drive they share idle chatter about the neighbor and things nearby like other stores, public transportation, parks and fun things for the kids. As they pull up to Haruhi's apartment complex they see Kyoya outside her door chatting with Ranka. Haruhi steps out of the car going to the trunk to get the bags while Sani slowly gets out of the car eyeing the boy standing on the landing.

"Kyoya, what's going on is something wrong." asked Haruhi slightly worried that she was needed for the Host Club thing even though school hasn't started yet. Anytime Hosts just show up in her life it usually spells trouble. Kyoya clearly registering her tone, informed her

"I was stopping by to inform your father about the social schedule so far for the host club as well as the school and giving him some reassurances about Satoshi and Chika joining the club."

"So you got them to agree that's great. It was gonna be odd with Honey and Mori going off to university this year."

"Yes I just finished talking to them about their schedule for the club and their martial arts, that's also why I'm here to talk to you about your role this year. When they are unable to attend you will have to step up a bit. You still have more money owed to your d….. "

Kyoya trails off noticing the women standing just off the side of Haruhi holding what he can only assume to be grocery bags. Lowering his glasses slightly to his signature glare a slight confused look flashing on his face. Looking at this girl with a hint of recognition.

"Sani… is that you? What are you doing here?"

Sani looked at him with a smirk and a sneaky gleam in her eyes. "Hey little arrow. How's it going? What's it been like 4 or 5 months." (Using the nickname she gave him as a kid)

Slightly irritated by the use of a family nickname in public, Kyoya looks at Sani with his demon aura slightly surfacing. Making Haruhi slightly shiver, Ranka flinching away and making Sani smirk even bigger.

Sani "Wow Kyoya your anger is only slightly less intimidating than your dads used to be, I'm shaking."

Turning to Haruhi "it was nice to meet you and thank you again for the help shopping. "I may have to call upon you again for help. Kyoya, I'm sure I'll see you round. But I have to get home before the twins do and start supper."

She gets into the car and heads home making it in just enough time to start cooking before the twins get back from school registration. She greets them as they come in and asks how their day was while informing her of the friend she made and how she ran into Kyoya. Both were very excited to hear about Kyoya, especially Keone who has always had a soft spot for the boy who treated her like the little sister he never had.
