Myrddyn's head pounded as he struggled to his knees. His back screamed as he moved. The pain was made worse by the fact that the person who had caused the pain had loved once. But her betrayal had sowed bitter anger in his heart. He felt her magical grip tighten around his throat. She lifted him into the air, effectively hanging him by the neck.
"You have no idea how long I've waited for this Emrys," his ancient nemesis crooned. He wondered how much of her soul she had sold to retain her youth. Too much, he thought. He felt her grip tighten. He smiled. At least this pitiful feud would come to an end. But it was the hard impact of an armored body that broke Morgana's grip.
Before Morgana knew it, Emrys had vanished before her eyes. Her scream, dripping with anger, pierced the silence of the forest.
Lena Luthor regretted so much in her life, but not this. She was standing atop a cliff on the English coast over looking the Atlantic Ocean, wondering how her life had led her here. She thought back to the morning two days prior when she had said goodbye to Kara for good. Kara was mistaken in her assessment of Lena's feelings. It wasn't the secrecy of Kara's identity, she had always had her suspicions. That had merely been the catalyst. It went deeper than that. She had lost too many people she cared about to her families wicked ways. So now she had made the decision to rid Kara of her miserable life before she could be harmed.
The wind whipped the hem of her long, dark emerald green coat against her legs, and also did likewise with her her raven hair. Sighing, she turned from the ocean and walked down the slope, through the mysterious standing stones and back into her existence.
Myrddyn Emrys stumbled through the strange city, his tattered cloak hiding his face, lest anyone discover him. The stranger who had brought him here had been kind, overtly so, and had insisted on taking him back, but Emrys refused in a tongue foreign to the stranger. Emrys had devined the strangers intentions from his gangly-limbed charade. But the old man was not amused, he simply raised his hood over his face and dissapeared into the crowd. But more than the strange, red armored man's seeming ability to travel through time he was now surprised by the flying woman who accosted him into custody. The woman was equally surprised when Emrys grabbed her arm, making it burn with an intense heat, causing her to release him. In the same instance he thrust his hand towards her, sending her flying into a building. He was in no mood for games. He had seen her image on a piece of parchment along with a mysterious symbol. He would find her, and maybe, just maybe, he could make one final effort to save her. Despite the damage she had caused, in spite of the pain she inflicted on him...he still loved her.
Kara rose to her feet, stunned by what had just happened. In the same moment a worried voice sounded in her ear.
"Kara what happened?"
Kara couldn't respond. Looking at her left arm she saw a burned sleeve and a red forearm that was beginning to blister. She tried to fly, but was suddenly struck by pain in her chest.
"Kara? Kara what's happening?"
Kara didn't know. At that moment a black sedan pulled to a stop and Detective Margaret Sawyer stepped out, her eyes immediately going to Kara.
"Ka...Supergirl, are you alright?"
"I'm not sure."
"Dammit Kara, what's wrong?"
"I'm fine Alex, Maggie is going to be driving me back though."
With that Kara cut off her communicator, letting Maggie lead her to her car. Sitting in the back of the car, restrained, was the young man who had burned her. Literally.
Seeing Kara the man began shouting at her, gesturing wildly, in the same foreign tongue. To Kara's surprise Maggie responded in the same language.
"How do you understand him?"
"He's speaking British-Vulgar-Latin," Maggie answered as if it were normal.
Kara stared at the woman as she drove to the D.E.O. So many questions crossed her mind. Why was she here? what was she doing here? and how the heck did she speak...whatever Latin that was.
"I know you have a lot of questions right now Kara, but I'm going to ask you to trust me right now."
Kara's ribs burned with pain as Maggie sped over a pothole.
"Sorry," she said, "but I need to get back to my employer as soon as I can."
"And who is your employer?"
Maggie stared ahead, unsure of how to answer.
"I'm not at liberty to say."
Kara huffed and turned her head. Great, she thought, more secrets.
"Here we are." Alex was waiting outside with a gurneys, and went pale as she watched Maggie step out of the driver's side and help get Supergirl onto the gurney.
Before Alex could say anything Maggie was back in the sedan and speeding off.
Myrddyn stared out the window, knowing he could leave if he wanted to.
"Where are you taking me?"he asked.
Maggie ignored him, keeping her eyes ahead. Myrddyn didn't try again, he simply watched the road in front of them.
"How do you understand me?" He asked instead, hoping that would get her talking.
"Metropolis University, I've always had a thing for ancient languages."
"So I am correct in assuming I am out of my own time?!"
"My employer will explain more when we get there."
"Get where?"
Maggie once more ignored him now, so he went back to wondering where he was going and who her employer was.
Lena Luthor stood just off the helipad, watching as the helicopter landed. Her heart beat with anticipation as she watched the supposedly ancient man exited the heli. His clothes, while ancient themselves, did not bear any signs of age, wear and tear maybe but not age. She noticed his eyes darken with rage as he locked eyes with her. She saw as his body tensed, aching to spring, but Margaret Sawyer said something to him.
"I'm Lena Luthor, welcome to Caerleon."
The man seemed to lose some of the hostility at the sound of the name. He began to speak rapidly, a name slipping from his tongue caught Lena's attention. Morgian.
