A/N: I don't know why this wasn't my first idea for the Family Matters series, it's perfect for this series. If anyone has any requests for this series I would be more than happy to try to write it. I might do another story for cabins that I've already written a story for, but I'm going to try to do a story for every cabin before I do that. Enjoy! - Dragon628
Conner POV
It was getting late, and there was no sign of our eldest brother. "Travis?" I asked. Contrary to popular belief we were not twins. Travis was a year older.
"Yeah, bro?" Travis was in the process of stealing some money from under our cabin mate, Cecil's bunk.
"Where's Luke?"
That got his attention. "Huh?" He whipped his head around the cabin looking for Luke. "Is he seriously still at the arena? That guy is dedicated!"
"Yeah, no kidding." I muttered.
Travis shook his head and sighed. "Well then-" He began at a normal volume. "EVERYONE, BED!" He shouted.
There was a collective groan from everyone. And I couldn't blame them, but Luke is strict, and if he comes back and sees us all still awake, he won't be very happy.
Everyone began getting read for bed. Stowning the stuff they had stolen from the day under their beds, or in secret compartments around the cabin. Finishing up the cake that they had grabbed from dessert for later.
10 minutes later everyone was in bed, and Travis and I were pacing the cabin wondering what had happened to Luke, and where he was. Seconds later Malcomn from Athena cabin came running in.
"Percy's been poisoned!" He cried.
That sent everyone into a panic.
"Everyone calm down!" Travis shouted. "Go back to bed, we'll wake you all when we know more." He said in a softer tone.
We walked up to Malcomn who looked terrified. I gestured for him to come outside with us.
"What happened?" I asked.
He took a breath. "Percy's been badly poisoned." He breathed. "And Chiron's called a head counselor meeting."
My brother and I exchanged a glance. "Luke's not here." I said, kind of scared. What if something happened to him too?!
"We... we know, you two are acting head counselors, Chiron said he'd explain more to you two at the meeting." A feeling of dread settled in my stomach, that didn't sound good.
"What do you mean?" Travis asked, clearly not as terrified to ask as I was.
"Well... I..." Finally he sighed. "Percy said that he's the one who poisoned him, and the one who stole the Master Bolt, and the Helm of Darkness..." Travis paled, as did I.
"N-no... no, no, h-h-he wou-ouldn'-t-t." I whispered, my voice barely audible.
I felt tears rolling down my face, deep in my heart I knew he did it.
"W-why w-would h-h-h-e-e d-do th-that?!" Travis cried, shaking his head.
"They-they said that... that he was serving... gr-great grandfather..."
Our eyes widened. No, no he wouldn't!
"Kronos." Travis cursed, under his breath. Malcomn nodded sadly, before running back to Cabin 6.
We just stood there for a second, not truly believing what we just heard. Finally we shook out of our stupor, and walked numbly to the Big House.
Throughout the meeting, I didn't say a thing. Normally I'd crack a joke, and pull a prank with Travis, but I just couldn't believe what we had heard.
I was vaguely paying attention, and was more thinking about how I would break the news to my siblings.
Once the meeting ended, and everyone was getting up to leave I felt tears gathering in my eyes again. The last topic we had discussed was Percy's health, and Luke's betrayal.
All the other Cabin Leaders were giving us wary looks. Well except for Travis's girlfriend Katie Gardener from Demeter Cabin, who was hitting anyone and everyone who looked at us like we would turn our daggers on them.
Chiron sighed as we were about to leave. "Stolls, please stay for a minute." Annabeth gave us a glance like we might be too much of a threat to leave with her mentor.
"Annabeth, check on Percy again, before you return to Cabin 6, please."
"Of course, Chiron." She answered, jogging out, and to the infirmary.
"Stolls." Chiron got our attention.
"Yes, Chiron?" Travis asked.
Said Centaur shook his head. "I want you two to know that I do trust you." Ok, that was a surprise considering that we were Luke's seconds.
"Thank you." I said slowly, not truly knowing what I was thanking him for, just that it seemed like the right thing to say. I mean he should trust us! We haven't done anything untrustworthy (today).
Chiron smiled sadly. "When you break the news to the rest of your Cabin, it will be different for you, than the other Leaders." No, duh, Chiron.
"You will need not only to break the news about Luke to them, but you need to convince them that they're on the right side of this will be war." Great, just perfect.
"What do you suggest?" Travis growled, clearly wanting nothing more for this to be a bad dream. I was finding myself hoping for the exact same thing.
"I need a list by morning, of the most at risk campers. I'm asking the other Head Counselors to do the exact same thing, and this is just a precaution." Chiron held out a blank piece of paper, I grabbed it aggressively, and it took all my willpower not to tear it up.
How dare he. I grabbed Travis's arm, and we walked angrily back to our cabin, our home, our siblings home, our friends home. At this moment I was just as upset with Chiron as I was with Luke.
Stupid Centaur. I growled in my head.
When we entered Cabin 11 no one was asleep, and I couldn't bring myself to be mad.
"Everyone please stop what you're doing, and sit in a large circle." And it seems that Travis couldn't bring himself to be angry either.
All 28 of our siblings, and all 34 of the rest of our cabinmates did as we asked.
Great, nice, perfect, time to face the music I guess. I sighed sadly, and was about to start when our 9 year old sister Alice called out. "Where's Luke?" Oh, this was going to be difficult.
"Uhhh... Travis why don't you start?" He glared at me, but he did in fact start.
"I'm going to say this plain and simple, because it's even hard for me to understand or even put into words why he did it." Everyone developed a terrified look in their eyes, and I couldn't blame them, I too was terrified, and I knew what had happened. Maybe that was why I was terrified, the prospect of having to tell them about the betrayal.
There was a pregnant pause. "Luke has been marked as a traitor of the camp, after he tried to kill Percy, and stole the Master Bolt, and Helm of Darkness. He also has the intent of rising Great-Grandfather. Kronos."
Everyone paled considerably, some even more than others.
"I-I thought he was joking when he said he was going to overthrow the gods!" Lei looked like she had just been slapped.
Almost everyone had tears streaming down their faces. "And why shouldn't we." Someone in the back growled. Chris stepped forward. "They've never cared about us, so why should we care about them. Luke might actually bring peace to the world, and I'll be by his side when he does."
I watched in horror as my brother grabbed a red bag from under his bed, and ran out the back door of the cabin.
"Chris!" I cried. "Don't do this!"
He stopped in the doorway of the backdoor. "...Stay safe everyone... and don't be stupid." And with that he jumped out of the cabin, and we watched him run into the darkness.
We had no idea where he was going, and in a deep part of my heart I didn't want to know.
Everyone soon went back to bed. Tears in their eyes, and feelings of dread settling in their stomachs. I wasn't going to be able to fight him when the time came to kill on the battlefield. I wasn't going to be able to...
I knew that I wasn't going to get much sleep tonight. I feared what was going to come.
