TIMESKIP: FIVE YEARS AGO
OMOIKITTA
After the conversation with Yoriichi and Fūryū, Omoikitta and Akaza were fully admitted to The Bushi Temple. The two were now receiving a proper orientation from Lady Hisa.
"And this is one of the five bathhouses. Don't worry; stalls are available!" Hisa chuckled.
Beaming, Omoikitta said, "Oh, it looks really nice! Don't you think so, Akaza?"
Instead of answering, Akaza heaved a deep sigh and rolled his eyes. The demon was still vexed about how Yoriichi attacked him earlier.
"I guess not…"
"I don't want an enchanted muzzle of any kind," Akaza said. "I'll use self-discipline."
"Self-discipline? Akaza, you've been a bloodthirsty demon for too long to just refrain from feeding at will. You need a muzzle!" Omoikitta cried.
"If there's one thing Muzan taught me, its discipline. I can handle it."
Omoikitta wanted to ask him what he meant, but knew that would probably anger him even more, so she kept quiet.
The trio arrived at accommodation area and saw corridors filled with many fusuma doors.
"Since you two are Yoriichi-sama's pupils, you will have your own personal room," Hisa said as she opened one of the doors.
A decent sized room with a futon in the middle was revealed. The room had a minimalist, Japanese style. Red outfits sat upon a dresser.
Hisa picked one up and said, "These red uniforms are what you'll be wearing for most of the time. They indicate that you will soon be with the Pairons!"
"I'm not wearing that," Akaza grumbled.
Omoikitta scoffed and glared at him. "Ugh, it's just a uniform. They're actually pretty nice."
"I said that I'm not wearing it. Also, I'm not Yoriichi's fucking pupil," he growled. "I'm only here so you can wield that damn blade and help me get Koyuki back!"
"Oh my!" Hisa exclaimed, covering her mouth.
"Hey, I want to wield that blade as well, but you don't see me being as rude as you!"
"Maybe if you didn't speak for me earlier, I wouldn't be this angry. You had no right to agree for me to stay here for five years."
"We don't have a choice!" she shouted. "I'm not even sure why you're mad at me; you should save that anger for Mujōna. Mujōna is the one who took Koyuki."
Akaza's muscles tensed and his eyes widened at the mention of Mujōna's name, then he turned away in sorrow.
Understanding his pain, Omoikitta touched his shoulder. "We'll get them back, Akaza. I promise you."
"Don't give me false hope or promise me anything ever again, Omoikitta," he sighed. "I've lived too long to be naïve when it comes to these kind of things."
"…I'm not sure about the fate of my friends, but something tells me that Koyuki will be okay."
"How so?"
Tears slightly welling in her eyes, Omoikitta said, "Do you think they would kill a reincarnation?"
Akaza seemed to contemplate for a few moments, then said, "…No. At least, I think Muzan wouldn't. He's always held traditional beliefs and it's looked down upon to harm a reincarnation. The only reincarnation he's willing to kill for a fact is… Yoriichi."
"And we can only hope that Mujōna feels the same way," she said, a faint smile upon her face. Omoikitta's words soothed the demon a bit, so Akaza relaxed.
Hisa smiled and said, "May The Gods assist you two on your journey."
TIMESKIP: FOUR DAYS AFTER CORONATION
MUJŌNA
Mujōna paced around as the twins suckled on her full breasts. The infants were particularly ravenous today and refused to withdraw. "Muzan, could you send a servant to bring two bottles of Marechi blood? These two have been feeding for almost an hour," she sighed.
Muzan nodded and gently took Mujihi in his arms. The infant's tan cheeks became red as he fussed, displeased by being pulled away from his mother's breasts.
A servant entered and handed the parents bottles, then Muzan and Mujōna rocked the infants and fed them.
"Anata to anata no kyōdai wa kūfukudesu, hm?" he cooed.
✧TRANSLATION: "You and your brother are hungry, hm?"
Half an hour later, the twins' appetites were sated, and they fell fast asleep in their cribs.
Relieved, Muzan and Mujōna walked hand in hand to the Royal Garden. There, they cuddled underneath a sakura tree.
"Darling, how are you feeling?" he said.
"I feel healthy. I think my body is finally healing."
Nodding, Muzan planted a kiss on her forehead. Mujōna listened to the melody of his seven hearts that throbbed joyously due to her close proximity to him.
After a few minutes of the blissful silence, Mujōna said, "As soon as I make a complete recovery, we will try for another child."
"Sounds delightful, Mujōna," he said, smiling. "Also, I'd like to know what you plan to do with the human."
"I already told you, Muzan. She belongs to me now."
Sighing, he said, "Well, I'm not particularly fond of having a human in our midst unless they're on the menu."
"Oh, My Love, she'll be a great caretaker for the twins," she laughed.
"Caretaker? You've lost your mind if you believe I'm letting a human around my children, let alone the woman of that—Akaza," he said through clenched fangs. The Demon Lord still hadn't gotten over Akaza's betrayal, and never truly will.
Sensing his vexation, Mujōna cupped his face and kissed his unwilling lips. "Muzan, if I felt like she was a threat, she would've been eliminated a while ago. Remember how you said that you didn't like servants handling our children? Well, she'll be a perfect replacement."
Scoffing, Muzan's eyebrows furrowed. "At least convert her."
"Not yet. I have plans for the future…"
"So, a human will be handling our children? Woman, are you unwell?"
Growling, Mujōna said, "Please stop insinuating that my decisions are based on feelings and emotions, Muzan. I've thought long and hard about this."
"You've thought long and hard about this on your own."
She heaved an exasperated sigh and entwined her fingers in his. "Muzan, I promise you that she won't be the sole caretaker. I just want her to be by my side most of the time."
"So, another Nodoka?" he hissed. Muzan wasn't particularly fond of the silent, white-haired demon either.
"God, no," she laughed. "Nodoka is my appointed, permanent right hand. Sunō will be more of a… an experiment, if you will."
He sighed and rubbed his temples, a vein on his forehead throbbing. "What are you planning now, Mujōna? I grow weary of your constant schemes."
"But my schemes always work, don't they?" Mujōna laughed. "Trust me, this plan will have marvelous results." A strange, mischievous gleam were in her scarlet eyes, enticing him.
Muzan conceded because he knew that his wife was stubborn; once she had her eyes set on something, she'll do anything in her power to receive it.
The Demon Lord pulled her even closer and settled in the crook of her neck, suckling her flesh. She mewled at his assault, encouraging him to go even further.
Soon enough, the couple barricaded the area with an enchanted barrier and fondled each other for a while.
SUNŌ
Sunō had been working under the supervision of a few servants; Yorokobi, Ame, and Ninjin. The three female demons welcomed Sunō with open arms and took her under their wing.
The first two days were rough. Sunō refused to get out of bed, and would have to be carried. She even tried to starve herself, but couldn't last a day. The distraught woman would randomly burst into tears, then cry herself to sleep at night.
Two days later, she grew accustomed to her surroundings. The snowflake marking subconsciously soothed her, making her more docile and compliant. The subtle effects of the demon mark eased her loathing for her Overlords and demons as a whole.
Once she settled down, Sunō found that the three demons were kind and willing to be her new friends.
"Sunō, did you take care of the bathhouse in the Rose Sector?" Ame asked.
"Yeah, and I did the Peony Sector as well!" Sunō exclaimed, beaming.
"You're getting the hang of this, Sunō," Yorokobi gushed.
As she tidied a few things, Ninjin said, "Well, we're done for the day. Lady Mujōna said that she wants to see us!"
Lady Mujōna wants to see us? I hope it's nothing bad…
Gulping, Sunō followed the three demons, who took her hand and teleported to the Royal Garden. There, they saw Mujōna awaiting their presence near the section of white roses.
The Queen looked utterly divine and stunning in her white regal kimono. The sunlight made her brown skin glow even more and her scarlet eyes glimmer.
Upon seeing her, Sunō and the demons prostrated themselves. "At your service, Lady Mujōna," Ninjin said.
Pleased, Mujōna sauntered towards them and gestured for them to look at her directly. "Ame, Ninjin, and Yorokobi; you will be rewarded for your assistance."
Then she pricked her finger and grinned as the three demons scrambled with their mouths open, salivating. Mujōna let a drop of her blood fall onto their tongues and relished their reactions.
Their faces became flushed with euphoria and arousal. Sunō watched as Yorokobi's horns lengthened and her triangular markings glowed. Ninjin fell to the ground, twitching.
Ame mewled and clutched her breasts, moaning, "We are so very grateful for your blessed blood, My Queen!"
Sunō watched the spectacle in horror and confusion. The woman didn't understand how a meager drop of blood could do such things, but was… intrigued.
Is this what it's like to be a demon? I don't want to be like them at all! This is really what Hakuji indulged in?
Once the demons settled down, Mujōna gestured for them to leave. Sunō went to follow the aroused demons, but The Queen stopped her.
"Not you, Sunō. Sit next to me," she said, patting to a spot on the bench that was very close to her. Sunō shakily obliged and sat next to her, her lip quivering.
Acknowledging that the woman was afraid, Mujōna released an intoxicating fragrance to pacify her. The scent of vanilla and roses permeated the air and flooded Sunō's nostrils, slightly clouding her mind. The girl immediately felt at ease and relaxed, then she rested her head upon Mujōna's lap.
Pleased with her slave's reaction, Mujōna caressed her hair, a white claw combing through her strands. "How are you adapting to your new life, Sunō?" she cooed.
"…Its going well. I'm okay now, thank you," Sunō said softly.
"Since your behavior has improved, I'd like for you to stay by my side."
Surprised by her Queen's words, Sunō looked at her and gasped. "Will I see my friends again?"
"Of course, Sunō. You'll work with them occasionally, but you'll be with me more often. Is that alright with you?"
"Yeah, that's fine…"
Mujōna gently took her chin and made her gaze into her intense, scarlet orbs. "Are you sure, Sunō?"
"Yes, L-Lady Mujōna."
Then she released her and let Sunō rest upon her lap. Mujōna's fingers ran through her hair as she sang a honeyed melody that sounded like pure gibberish, but was breathtaking, nonetheless.
TANJIROU
The Twelve Kitaiyō were in a training simulation, practicing their kekkijutsu and conversing amongst each other. Suddenly, they felt their leader's presence and lined up in an ordely fashion.
Mujōna and Nodoka entered the chambers and the lesser demons bowed before their Queen.
"Lovely," Mujōna said, beaming. "Now, I have a short announcement. Firstly, I'd like to thank you all for working so hard these past few days, and your efforts won't go unrewarded."
Then she approached Tanjirou and gazed into his eyes, which looked similar to her very own. Mujōna caressed the side of his face and said, "In a week, you all will begin competing for higher ranks. Although Tanjirou and Kamabisushii's ranks are permanent, the others are obtainable for the most commendable demons. I cherish and value each and every last one of you, so do not disappoint me."
"Yes, Lady Mujōna!" the demons said in unison.
Then Mujōna sauntered back to the center, fanning herself. "I'm sure that all of you know that Kanao is the only one who's able to walk in the sun for her efforts. When the ranks are set in stone, I'll give each of you an unaltered drop of my blood. Now, continue going about your day," she said. Then she and Nodoka left the chambers.
The Twelve Kitaiyō gasped and joyously babbled about their Queen's announcement.
"Zenitsu, I'm coming for your rank!" Inosuke growled.
The yellow-haired demon extended his claws, hissing. "No, you aren't, you dog! You'll always be below me." The two demons charged at each other, then wrestled and bickered.
"If anyone should have the Upper Sun Two rank, it's me," Muichiro said. "Kokushibou-sama is teaching me the Breath of the Moon."
Grumbling, Sanemi said, "Whatever. I have my eyes set on that rank, or at least Upper Sun Three. Those two idiots don't deserve that rank."
"Who are you calling an idiot?" Obanai hissed as he broke away from Mitsuri's kiss.
"Lady Mujōna sees more potential in us than you, Sanemi!" Mitsuri barked.
"She only put you two together because you can't stop touching each other."
Kaburamaru hissed and flicked his tongue angrily at Sanemi. "Shut up, Sanemi!" Obanai shouted.
"Kanae, I'm happy with our rank, but it would be nice to get a higher one!" Kanao exclaimed.
Nodding, Kanae said, "Yeah, same!" The female demon had a pink, enchanted lotus in her hair that sparkled on its own. The flower was a gift from Douma. The two demons were taking their relationship very slow and weren't actually a couple, but they both looked forward to seeing each other.
"Nezuko, help me!" Zenitsu screeched. Inosuke was clawing at his face, foaming at the mouth like a rabid beast.
"I'm not helping you!" Nezuko yelled, seething.
"Oh, is this about last time?" he whined.
"Yes!" Nezuko was still angry at him for causing them to lose the first obstacle course challenge.
"You can't be serious! It was an accident, Nezuko!" He screeched when Inosuke's claws scratched his eyes.
"Gyomei, we must keep our rank," Shinobu laughed. "I can sense their jealously from afar."
Nodding, Gyomei let out a hearty laugh. "Definitely."
"I'm pretty sure Giyu is stronger than Tanjirou," Tengen said. "If anyone should be Upper Sun One, its him."
"Gyomei is stronger than Giyu, though!" Inosuke said. The demon had grown tired of hearing Zenitsu screams, so he stopped mauling him. "Tanjirou's only Number One because Queen Mujōna likes him and he has that stupid mark!"
Tanjirou growled at the harsh comments of his fellow members. "Not true! She said that our ranks are based on potential, not strength! And she doesn't like me that much… I think."
"Dude, she likes you," Giyu mumbled, gazing at his sword.
She does like me…
"Oh, you can't be mad at me for that. I'm sure if she liked you as well, you guys wouldn't be angry at all!"
The demons muttered under their breath because they knew Tanjirou was right.
Still, Inosuke was vexed. "You'll look stupid when everyone else topples you in strength!" he snarled.
Then I'll improve.
MUJŌNA
Mujōna aimlessly wandered around the halls, satisfied that she handled a few important matters.
So, I've taken care of Sunō and my demons. Now, the only thing left is…
'Nodoka, come to me.'
Kneeling, Nodoka appeared before her.
'"Yes, Lady Mujōna?"'
Gesturing for her to rise, Mujōna said, "Hello, my sweet Nodoka. This will only take a moment." The Queen guided her to a secluded area in the hallways.
"Nodoka, you've been nothing but good to me. You're my righthand with an unwavering loyalty, and I even see you as a member of my family. This is why I trust you to care for one of my latest experiments."
"An experiment, My Queen?"
"Yes… Sunō," Mujōna sighed. "I'd like for you to take her under your wing, if that's not too much to ask."
The white-haired demon's blue eyes widened at the mention of the human. Ever since she met her, Nodoka disliked her presence. She found Sunō to be a whiny, self-absorbed woman who was a nuisance to her Queen. Still, she obeyed her orders.
"Anything for you, Lady Mujōna."
Smiling, Mujōna pulled the woman in a tight embrace. Nodoka was surprised at first, but relaxed in her arms. The Queen could sense her discomfort with her new task, but knew that her attendant was the right person for the job.
Nodoka is more than capable to handle her.
After a full day of preparation and tying up loose ends, Mujōna went to the nursery to check on her children. There, she found Muzan reading to the twins.
The Demon Lord glanced at her and smiled. "Ah, your mother is here. Aren't you happy to see her?"
Mugoi and Mujihi cooed and babbled in delight, chewing their fists and looking around.
Beaming, Mujōna laid beside them and played with Mugoi's curly hair. "I've had such a long day, My Love."
"I can tell," he laughed. "You seem a little tense. May I ask what's bothering you?"
"Something is always bothering me, Muzan."
"Then what is it this time?"
Humming, Mujōna said, "It's about Sunō and Nodoka."
The Demon Lord heaved an exasperated sigh, his veins throbbing. "When will you let me dispose of them?"
"Muzan, you aren't laying a finger on either of them. If they bother you that much, just keep your distance."
"Because I should keep my distance from two pests in my own dimension."
Sensing the tense atmosphere, the twins started crying.
"Ah, I apologize, my little ones," he cooed. Muzan kissed their foreheads and lovingly rocked them in his arms. The endearing scene made all seven of Mujōna's hearts throb at the sight.
I am truly in love with this beautiful man.
'I'm in love with you as well, Mujōna.'
Smiling, Muzan said, "You have my word that I won't harm your… demons." Mujihi grabbed a lock of his father's hair, squealing with joy.
Then an idea came to her.
"Muzan, why don't we let our demons meet the twins properly? I'm sure they'll—"
"Absolutely not," he hissed, his crimson eyes blazing.
"Why not?"
"Those abhorrent beasts aren't getting anywhere near them."
Scoffing, Mujōna said, "Even your demons?"
"Yes, even my demons. None of them are worthy to be in their presence. I didn't even enjoy them being so close to us during the Coronation."
Mujōna winced at her husband's overprotective, domineering behavior. "We can't keep them cooped in here all the time; it'll stunt their growth! They need to see the world and interact with others."
Muzan's face softened at her words because he knew that she was right. With a sigh, The Demon Lord conceded. "Fine. But everyone besides Enmu and Douma can touch them."
Before Mujōna could ask, he said, "Enmu and Douma are utterly repulsive and I will bathe in a sea of wisteria before they lay a finger on my children. End of discussion."
Nodding, Mujōna melted at his forceful, fatherly behavior.
"Also, I don't want that Kamado fuck near them." The Demon Lord absolutely loathed Tanjirou and despised how his wife made him Upper Sun One.
"Muzan, what is wrong with you? No cursing around the twins, and Tanjirou is fine!" she cried. "You're being unfair."
"We will not argue on this matter any longer," he said. "Take it or leave it."
"Fine."
Mujihi grabbed his father's nose, drooling. Then Mugoi did the same to his mother.
"Why do they have such a strong grip?" Mujōna asked, her voice nasally.
TAKUMASHĪ
Darkness.
Nothing but darkness.
Takumashī was engulfed in pure black nothingness for what felt like an eternity. The man had wandered around nonstop and tried to search for an exit, but to no avail.
That demon bitch! As soon as I get out of here, I'm going to—
'What did you just call me?'
Mujōna.
Takumashī gasped and frantically looked around.
'You're going to do what to me?'
Let me out of here, lady!
'And to think that I felt forgiving and was about to grant you your freedom. Tsk.'
You're lying!
'Goodbye, Takumashī.'
Then he heard nothing.
SUMĀTO
Sumāto had been incarcerated for the past four days. The four-eyed demon didn't understand what exactly happened to Takumashī, but knew that it was something vile. She paced back and forth in the small cell, breathing heavily.
"Mujōna? Lady Mujōna? Please let me out!"
Silence.
Half an hour later, the demon went to the door and banged on it. "Mujōna, I submitted like you asked of me! Why would you leave me in here?" she cried.
Silence.
"Lady Mujōna, please!" she screeched. "I didn't do anything wrong!"
Overwhelmed by grief, Sumāto crumbled to the floor and loudly sobbed. She banged on the cell door repeatedly, making sure as to make enough noise.
"Lady Mujōna, please! Please! Pl—"
"Shut the fuck up!" an unfamiliar, female voice shouted.
That's not Mujōna.
Upon hearing the sound of another person, Sumāto jumped and tried to peer underneath the door. Yet, she didn't see anything.
Where is she?
"...Lady Mujōna? Could you get Lady Mujōna for me? I need to—"
Suddenly, the cell's window opened, and a pair of angry, green eyes glared at her. "If Her Majesty wants to speak with you, she'd tell me and probably come down here Herself!"
Trembling, Sumāto asked, "W-who are you?"
"The unlucky woman who has to handle you," she sighed.
Sumāto sensed an ominous aura wafting from her that felt like Mujōna, but was much more powerful.
She must be one of His demons.
"…Nakime? Are you Nakime?"
"No, you whore. I'm Daki."
Upper Moon Six!
Sobbing, Sumāto said, "Please get Lady Mujōna for me. Its urgent!"
"Blah, blah, blah. Shut the hell up, or I'll rip your mouth off!"
As Sumāto heard the demon walking away, her heart stopped. "Daki, please!"
Then she heard nothing.
