WENDY P.O.V.
It's been two years since I first met Mest, and I have to say that my life and perspective has changed. I only met him once after at a local cafe where we talked for about 4 hours. I think he enjoyed talking to someone who wasn't in Rune Knights, but I could tell he felt almost sad that he had to leave again. I grabbed my keys and headed into the car just trying to drown out some of the thoughts going through my head.
I'm about to go to my labs, but I need to see my schedule at Fairy Tail. About a year ago, Fairy Tail had a fire destroying the place. The owner decided it was time for us to expand our business now that the restaurant is part of a hotel. It's ridiculous how huge this expansion is, but now we can have more employees. I haven't decided if I want to still be a waitress or front desk person. I have to pay my way through medical school, but it's been challenging since people always underestimate me. I used to email Mest about these things from time to time, but he would tell me that's the reason I needed to push forward. He used to tell me about his travels around the country and even going to exotic islands. Always send me a photo of places that would be breathtaking, and tell me about the new cuisines. He even would tell me about some herbal remedies that would come in handy. I want to have a balance between western and eastern medicine.
"Wendy?" I look up from my phone to see Lucy with Levy going through the paperwork.
"I'm sorry, what were you saying?" She smiled sweetly and slid a paper my way.
"I think you should still be a waitress for now so you can focus on medical school. I can give you three days a week with ten shifts." I look down to see working the entire weekend, but I don't mind it.
"Sounds perfect, I have to go to my labs. I'll be there on opening day!" I smiled before walking away.
"Wendy, call me when you're free." Lucy shouted, but I heard the worry in her voice.
The Next Day...
I still haven't called Lucy, but I just hope for a new email as I click refresh about seven times. Nothing. I took a deep breath and just wondered what was happening. Carla jumped on the desk and tried to type on the computer. "No Carla you can't type on there." She sits down on the desk and starts to meow to calm me down, but I still hit the refresh button.
I used to get an email every week or if not every two weeks depending on their location. I haven't received an email from Mest in three months. The last email I received started out like this:
Wendy,
I'm here at Port Hargeon where Lahar and I are starting another trip to a new Island base. I haven't heard where exactly I would be, but they did say we might have communication access for a month due to the location. You're gonna have to show me around the new and improved Fairy Tail.
Anyways, how have you been? I understand that you don't think you're qualified for the internship that your professor is giving. Even though you might be intimidated by a professor you need to stand your ground because if I know you, like I do, you're working 2x or if not 5x hard to get the same level of respect. Just prove you know that material like the back of your hand and snag that internship from them.
Oh, I almost forgot. I just wanted to tell you that I should be coming back for a one week break in about 3 to 4 months depending on this last trip.
Sincerely,
Mest
It's been three months with no answers and emails. What happened to him? I hope he's safe or alive because I want to see him again.
There's banging on my door which is weird because nobody bothers me in the girl's dorm. I slowly walk to the door, but it seems to be getting louder the longer I take. I swing the door open to see Mira, Lucy, Gray, and Natsu.
"You didn't call me yesterday and I talked to Mira." I start picking at my fingers.
"Which means Mira told you." My eyes darted between the two because over the years Mira would ask me questions about Mest trying to imply something that wasn't there. I knew from the start that he wanted an anchor for him when he came home.
"Yes, I was worried about you, Wendy, but you know things could happen." I don't want to think about this.
"I know! I check the news daily both national and international to see if there's any reporting of troops being attacked. I check my email everyday hoping for a simple three worded email. I've run through the possibilities in my head over and over after the second month." I took a deep breath and scanned the room to see hurt in everyone's eyes. "I'm sorry for raising my voice. I just don't want to think about it." Natsu hugged me tightly, and it caught me off guard because I didn't notice I was crying.
"Listen Wendy, both Natsu and I are on the same page even though we don't like you talking to such an older guy." Just then Lucy and Mira shot Gray a glare. "We can understand that you care and worry about him, but chances are he's fine. No news is good news." The fact that Natsu and Gray agree on something is shocking alone, but they are trying their best.
"Thank you everyone." I started wiping my tears away as Carla rubbed between my legs and I looked down to smile at her.
"Okay, enough with the tears let's all go to Fairy Tail and try my new recipes! Wendy, you can bring your books." Mira cheered as I gathered my books and started to feel a little better.
A/N: I"M BACK! I want thank you all who still read this story and my other ones. Just wait for the new chapters and stories!
