Time for a little drama in the spring break fun!
Ch. 25 Every Heart Has a Blindside
(CLARE)
"What do you do with Klaus?" Damon asks, sipping the last few drops of his blood bag.
It's our fourth day at the beach house for spring break, we've spent most of our time at the beach. Us vampires would return to the house to eat every two or three hours. Damon and Stefan didn't need to eat that often, but Caroline and I did and they always came with us. We'd stay on the beach pretty late usually, and of course four couples (mostly teens, and mostly supernatural creatures with hyped sex drives) in a house together there has been lots of sex. The house is pretty sound proofed, but most of us have super hearing.
Today was a little different, Damon decided he wanted some time alone with me, so we packed some blood in a cooler and took a drive up the coast in his car. We'd found a quiet cliff that looked out on the water, but would be pretty hard for most humans to get to, so it was rather private. The other girls decided to go shopping, Stefan decided it was a good time to bond with Jeremy, though I wasn't sure what they were doing. I also had no idea what Tyler was doing today.
"Why do you keep asking me that? You've heard the definition of crazy right?" I question with a sardonic tone as I put my empty blood bag back in the cooler.
"Because I think you're holding something back, and I'm not the only one," Damon replies.
I huff and twist my mouth, I'd already heard from Adam and Jeremy that they thought I wasn't telling them everything I did with Klaus. They were right of course, I was holding back, not telling them everything. What they didn't understand, what they couldn't know, was that I couldn't. Klaus had compelled me not to tell and so I couldn't.
"We eat, we have lots of sex, that's really it. Sometimes we go out, he likes to show us off. What do you think happens when I'm with Klaus?"
"I don't know, that's why I asked. Does he hurt you? With your ability to heal now that you're a vampire we may not be able to tell."
"He doesn't hurt me Damon, he takes some blood sometimes but doesn't drink the way he used to, usually. I've told you what we do, you saw yourself what we do when you stayed the weekend with us."
"Don't think I think for a second that weekend was any more than a show to try and put me at ease. Only it didn't work, it just made us all more suspicious. You wanted me to stay the entire weekend, almost desperate for it, and I'm sure it had very little to do with wanting to be with me and Klaus," Damon says.
I bite my lip, I want to tell him he's right but that would just lead to more arguing. I decide to distract him instead, though I'm sure we'll come back to this argument later. The best way to distract a male (supernatural or otherwise) sex of course!
I release my lip, smiling salaciously and push Damon against the tree behind him before crushing my lips to his. My tongue slides between his lips and duels with his for dominance. I pull his shirt up to run my hand over his sculpted stomach and then I begin undoing his belt. I get his belt off and his jeans open in a couple of seconds, pulling them down just enough to get his lovely hardening phallus out.
Damon has dropped all other thought for the moment as he gets my top and bra off quickly. His hands take my breasts, cradling them as I stroke his length in my hand. Damon lets out a low moan as my hand strokes around from the base to the head. His moan hums against my right nipple as he takes it into his mouth. I moan and crane my head back as his tongue expertly works my nipple.
Damon gives equal attention to the other nipple as I get him completely hard. While his tongue continues to toy with my nipple his hands drift down lifting my skirt and ripping off my panties. His hands guide my hips toward him, opening my labial folds and I guide myself down on him. We share a moan of pure pleasure as I take him all in, our lips colliding together in a licentious kiss when we're fully joined.
His hands leave my breasts, his arms snaking around me, pulling me close to him. I begin to move slowly, feeling every inch of him inside of me as I slowly caress him with my inner muscles. Our bodies entwined together, our lips melded, our bodies moving slowly even as our tongues dance rapidly. When the ache to release becomes too great I speed my movements. Breaking the kiss as I ride him quickly desperately seeking release. Damon's hips are bucking, his fangs sink into my neck to taste me and it sends me over the edge.
I moan Damon's name against his neck, slowing my movements as my body trembles in aftershocks of pleasure. Damon thrusts a few more times before slowly pulling out and taking my lips again. He fixes my skirt and his jeans while I lie my head on his shoulder, I smell his scent, his blood and desire a taste. I lick his neck before sinking my fangs in and supping the sweet taste that is Damon.
"That was a fun distraction," Damon grins and I twist my mouth at him for knowing it was a distraction. "You going to tell me what happens on your weekends with Klaus now?"
"I have told you, all of you, I don't know why you don't believe me," I scowl, turning away from him and ready to run back to the car. I don't even turn all the way before Damon catches my hand.
"Because you crawled into my bed the other night when you couldn't sleep after returning from Atlanta. When you talk about your time with him, as pleased as you generally look," Damon says with a tight jaw, "you have a darkness in your eyes, a fear. Your voice trembles ever so slightly, like you're holding back. I hear it, Adam knows it, even Jeremy knows it and that's why we won't stop asking."
I bite my lip and look away, I want so badly to tell him, but I can't. I'm fighting back tears, tears I don't want him to see, so I put my head on his chest instead. I grip his shirt and his arms tighten around me.
"Let's go back, if no one is home yet we can enjoy the private beach. If they are then we'll make use of that large shower in the master," I say, picking my head up from his chest after a moment.
"Clare…"
"Don't Damon," I snap at him, losing my patience, "this time is without Klaus and that means I don't want to talk about him anymore. If one more person brings up Klaus I'm going to take your car to New York and see what Eli is up to for the rest of the week." It was an empty threat, mostly, but it worked and Damon's jaw goes hard as marble.
"I will chain you to the bed if I even think you're going to New York. Then I will go to New York and drain him," Damon growls, holding me tight. That was not an empty threat, Damon fully intends to kill Eli if he thinks I'm with him.
"No killing Eli, no talking about Klaus either, come let's go back and make full use of that lovely shower with dual shower heads and body sprays. I wonder how many positions we can get into and how many times you can make me cry out your name?" I challenge him. I'm appealing to his alpha male competitive side. I know which buttons I'm pushing and I know it will work.
Damon makes a low heady growl and kisses my neck, I can already feel him getting hard again. I have no doubts how we'll be spending the rest of the afternoon and probably night as well. It sounds like a wonderful way to spend our time, I hope everyone else is making such wonderful use of their time.
(TYLER)
With everyone gone I decide to walk down to the public beach. I certainly didn't want to trail the girls as they shopped, nor did I want to crash Stefan and Jeremy's bonding time. Damon and Clare left early this morning, he wanted her alone, we could all tell. I didn't feel like going into town, and while I usually liked our private beach, the public beach was always good for some fun.
The beach is crowded, spring break in full swing on this beach, music going, girls in swimsuits showing off their bodies, boys showing off for the girls. Lots and lots of food, and alcohol, permeate the air near the beach, almost stronger than the smell of the water. I take off my shoes and start walking through the sand. I'm watching the people, trying not to gag on some of the smells and not paying that much attention. Until a volleyball nearly hits my head, I hear it coming and turn fast enough to catch it.
"Nice catch Dark Eyes," a flirty voice says. I look from the ball to the owner of the voice. Thin and lithe like Elena, but a couple inches taller than Elena. She has long straight black hair and tan skin, she looks Latin or Native American maybe. She gives me a coquettish grin as she looks me over. "Want to join us? We need a third on our team, and you look like you need something to do," she says.
"Uh sure," I nod, spinning the ball in my hand.
"I'm Candi with an i," she says as though the i makes it sound like it's not a stripper's name.
"Tyler," I reply. We come to the volleyball court. On one side is a leggy blonde, wearing a red suit and looks like she's a Baywatch reject. Behind her are two guys, one bares his teeth and puts his arm around the blonde when he sees me looking. On the other side of the net is a petite brunette.
"This is Tyler, he's going to play on our team. The big one with buzzed hair is Alec and he's got his arm around Trish, the other one is Eddie, he's the one that hit the ball too far. This is Sadie, she's on our team, you serve," Candi says.
I take the ball and serve, with how strong I am, especially with a full moon coming in a few days, it's hard not to hit the ball too far. I hold back, but still score when none of the others can get the ball. After that it becomes more of a competition between Eddie, Alec and me, the girls don't do much of anything. After over an hour with no one scoring and us hitting the ball ever harder, Trish grows tired of it grabbing the ball from Eddie when he's about to hit it.
"Enough, this is going nowhere, I'm tired of this pissing contest. If you have this much energy I can think of a much better use for it," she says, grabbing Alec by his shorts. He smiles lecherously and they start walking through the sand toward the street.
"Well, that's the last we'll see of them today I bet," Sadie comments, making a face. She's younger than us, fourteen or fifteen probably. Trish, Alec, Eddie and Candi all seem to be around nineteen or twenty. "I'm starving, let's get some food," Sadie comments and goes running through the sand toward a large group.
"Hungry? We have plenty," Candi offers.
"Yeah, actually, thanks," I nod following her and Eddie to the large group.
As we approach, almost everyone in the group looks over at me. It's mostly kids ranging from around Sadie's age to maybe 25, but I see a couple that looks more like they are 30, maybe a little older as the man has some greying hair. No one says anything as we join the group, but they're all staring at me, not menacing or anything, more like they're trying to figure me out.
"Tyler, have some chicken, Delia makes the best spice rub for it," Sadie says, putting a large chicken breast on a plate and handing it to me.
"Uh, thanks," I grin, smelling the chicken which makes my stomach growl. It smells amazing, all the food does. Elena and Bonnie have been doing most of the cooking on this trip, it's been good, but none of it smelled like this. I fill a plate and grab a soda following Candi to a blanket on the edge of the group.
"So, where are you from Tyler?" Candi questions.
"Mystic Falls, Virginia."
"Mystic Falls? I've heard of it, we've all been strictly forbidden from going anywhere near there," she says which I find odd.
"What about you? Are you all from the same…place?" I question. Too many age differences to be from the same school.
"Olive Springs."
"Never heard of it, sounds like an olive oil company," I comment and she laughs.
"It's a small town on the outskirts of Monongahela National Forest. We're pretty self sufficient, and we usually keep to ourselves."
"So, what? Half the town comes out here for spring break?"
"Yeah, something like that," she laughs. "That was some catch earlier, you have fast reflexes," she comments before taking a bite of food.
"Yeah, well, I play a lot of sports," I shrug. "So, what's Olive Springs like?" I question attempting to change the subject.
"Small, quaint, mostly hidden, but we're safe there. Everyone knows everyone, few of us leave even for college, and we have acres and acres of wild wilderness to run through on the full moon, you should join us," she says. I realize what she's saying and it's all I can do not to choke on the bite I just took.
"I don't know what you mean," I reply and quickly take a sip of my soda.
"You don't have to hide with us Tyler, we're all like you, our whole town is. When I saw you catch the volleyball I had my suspicions and when I was next to you I knew you were a wolf too."
"How?"
"My parents are the alpha and the luna of our pack, we're able to…sense other wolves. Sense isn't exactly right, but it's hard to explain. Are there other wolves in Mystic Falls? If they're like you I can't imagine why we've been forbidden to ever go near there."
"Uh no, I'm the only werewolf in Mystic Falls. Our town has an odd history, that's probably why," I tell her. I'm not about to tell her about the vampires or witch or anything else in Mystic Falls.
"That sucks, must be lonely for you," Candi says getting closer to me.
"It's fine, but I've had to figure out the whole werewolf thing on my own. I've only met a couple of others, and they were just passing through."
"So, you have no one to talk to? To help guide you? No one to answer your questions? What about your parents?"
"My dad is dead, he never got the chance to tell me, assuming he would have. My mom knows but we don't talk about it. My girlfriend has been great about it, more helpful than anyone else, but she can't answer any of my questions."
"We can, ask anything Tyler, you should be with those that know what you are and can help you embrace it."
(CAROLINE)
"I guess shopping was a success," Stefan grins when we come into the beach house, our arms laden with bags.
"A fabulous one," I smile cheerily, "are you two the only ones here?"
Stefan greets Elena with a kiss taking her bags, Jeremy does the same with Bonnie before they answer me.
"Clare and Damon are back, making use of the shower," Stefan says.
"We've only been back about ten minutes," Jeremy adds.
"I'm going to put my bags in our room," I tell them running upstairs at vampiric speed. I hear the shower going and the sensual moans of Damon and Clare. Tyler isn't in our room, his scent is fading from this morning. I'm not worried, he's come here since he was a kid, with the rest of us out he probably went to some of his favorite places. I change quickly into one of my new outfits and return downstairs.
Bonnie and Elena are making lunch, Jeremy is sort of helping, as in he's washing carrots. I'm starving and grab some blood from the fridge, sitting on one of the barstools to drink. Stefan makes some coffee, Clare and Damon come downstairs as it starts brewing. Clare grabs some blood from the fridge as well and sits down with me, while Damon opens the liquor cabinet to make himself a drink.
After the humans eat lunch we all change into suits and go down to the private beach. I'm still not sure where Tyler is, but when he comes back I'm sure he'll find us at the beach. We're down there for hours, still no Tyler, when we return to the house so the humans can make dinner I try calling Tyler, but he doesn't answer.
"I'm sure he'll be back soon," Clare says, handing me a blood bag.
"Yeah, me too," I nod.
"After dinner we should go back to the beach, watch the sunset," Elena says as she and Bonnie start making dinner.
"I'm going to go look for Tyler," I tell them when I'm done drinking my blood.
I run out of the house at vampiric speed, past the private beach and out to the public one. I stop when I see Tyler's car, he's here. I look for him but there's too many people bustling around, even with my eyes I can't pick him out in the evening light with all the people. I go down to the sand and try to pick up his scent, weaving my way through people and trying to pick out Tyler. It's his voice I find first, in the distance, near a bonfire. I can't quite hear the words, there's a lot of other noises, but I hear his voice and follow it until I pick up his scent.
I follow his scent to a large group around a large bonfire. Tyler sits on the edge of the group on a blanket, very very close to a girl. I can't see her face from here, they have their backs to me, but I don't like how close she is to him. I especially don't like the flirty tone in her voice, or the way her hand touches his arm as she talks to him. Now that I'm close I can hear what they're saying, as clear as if I was next to them, even though I'm still several hundred feet away.
"…you'd like it Tyler, running free on the full moon. It's like nothing else, you should come up on Tuesday, stay with us, try it out. You should be able to fully embrace the wolf Tyler, like we do," the skank she-wolf says.
I grind my teeth, she's a werewolf, she knows Tyler's a werewolf and she's inviting him to stay with her! I'm tempted to go over and tear her throat out, except that she said us and I have enough sense to figure out that the others with her are probably also werewolves. A bite from a werewolf will kill me, and as angry and jealous as I am right now I don't feel like taking on a bunch of werewolves by myself.
"It sounds amazing, I'd love t…" Tyler is saying and that's all I can take, I keep walking down the beach. As fast as I can in the sand, fuming at what I saw, what I heard. So angry I'm not paying much attention to where I'm going and I get bumped into.
"Sorry Barbie didn't see you there," a male voice says. I turn to look at who the voice belongs to and smile when I see a tall muscular man with light brown hair. He has to be at least twenty, he's got blue swim trunks on and a University of Delaware letterman's jacket on, so he must go there and be on a team. Even in the fading light I see his deep blue eyes and sharp jaw, and muscles oh so many muscles.
"That's okay, I wasn't really watching where I was going either, and it's not Barbie, I bear no resemblance to that toy," I grin at him inhaling his scent. He smells fantastic, sort of citrusy and sweet, I lick my lips so very much wanting to taste him. "I'm Caroline."
"Kurt," he grins, taking my hand and kissing it, "why don't you come join me and my friends?"
I'm about to say no, but then I think about Tyler with the she-wolf skank and I grin at Kurt. "I'd love to, I'm famished and a drink sounds fabulous."
Kurt grins and puts his arm around me, we walk back to a group of college kids around a campfire. Kurt stops at a cooler first, pouring us some liquor from a bottle I can't read the label of. Not that it matters what it is, even if he's trying to drug me it wouldn't work. Vervaine would, but the majority of people outside of Mystic Falls don't know about vervaine let alone that vampires are real. Kurt hands me a cup and takes my hand pulling me to a towel on the sand, he sits down bringing me into his lap and I don't fight. In fact I nuzzle into him, putting my arm around his neck.
"Hey Kurt, who'd you find?" A guy asks sitting across from us. He's attractive too, deep brown skin and eyes, he wears the same jacket as Kurt. Another boy with the same jacket sits with him, this one has deep red hair with just enough freckles to be adorable, not as muscled as the other two but he is cute.
"This is Caroline, and these are my two best friends Noah and Jace," Kurt introduces us. I lick my lips smiling first at Noah, he smells like saffron and butter but looks like a delicious piece of dark chocolate. Jace smells like basil, fresh basil, I want to taste him first.
"What a delectable boy buffet," I smile, "anywhere more private we can go?"
"We're sharing a room at a hotel up the street," Kurt replies.
"Perfect, shall we?" I question getting up from Kurt's lap and looking at the three of them. They move very fast for humans, standing up with me. Kurt and Noah put their arms around me as we begin walking away from the beach. I know this decision is driven on anger, lust, jealousy and hunger but right now I just don't care.
(TYLER)
"The beach is closed," the announcement over the loudspeaker from the lifeguard station startles me.
"You should come back with us, we're staying in a hotel just up the street," Candi says.
"No, I should get back to my friends and especially my girlfriend. I had no idea it was so late or we'd been talking so long. It just felt so good to be talking to someone that truly understands."
"Think about my offer, to come and run with us sometime. I'll give you my number," Candi says.
I pat my pockets and realize my phone is in my car, "Actually, my phone is in my car."
"Wait here," she says and turns to the bonfire. Everyone else has already begun cleaning up. Candi returns a moment later with a piece of paper in her hand. "My number," she says handing it to me, "I expect to hear from you Dark Eyes."
I grin and take the paper, putting it into my pocket, "Talk to you soon Candi."
I walk back to my car and think I pick up a faint trace of Caroline's scent. There's so many scents around though I can't be sure. I get in my car and grab my phone from the cupholder. I see a missed call from Caroline. I start driving back to the house, knowing I'm going to have to grovel when I get home. When I pull up to the house the other cars are here, a light is on in the living room. I turn it off and head for the stairs, by the sounds I'm pretty sure everyone else is in their rooms. I open the door to my bedroom ready to beg and plead Caroline's forgiveness, to grovel before her, only our room is dark and empty. I know she's a vampire but I'm still worried, especially thinking she's mad at me. I call her cell and it rings in the room, now I'm really worried.
I check around the entire house, the yard and walk down to the private beach, no sign of Caroline. She hasn't been around the house or our private beach for hours, her scent is around, but it's faint. I go back to the house wondering where she is, and I know I won't be able to sleep until I find her. Being a vampire doesn't preclude her from being hurt or even killed. I also know I won't be able to find her without help. I doubt Jeremy would be any help, Bonnie might, but the vampires are the most likely to be of help. I knock softly on the master bedroom door, but it's enough to wake Clare and Damon. He's the first to the door, which he barely opens.
"Someone better be dying," Damon snarls.
"I can't find Caroline, she left her phone here," I tell him.
"What do you mean you can't find Caroline? She went looking for you hours ago?" Damon growls.
"She never found me, I got back to the house a short time ago and she wasn't here. I called her phone and it's in our room."
"We should go look for her, she should be back by now," Clare says from behind Damon.
"Go wake Stefan," Damon says, shutting the door in my face.
I'm a bit worried that he won't help me find Caroline, but I know he cares about her too. I also know that Clare will likely force him to, so I go down to Stefan and Elena's room. I knock softly again and Stefan comes to the door, a little slower than his brother did.
"What's wrong?" Stefan asks in a low voice, probably worried about waking Elena.
"I can't find Caroline," I whisper back.
"I'll be right out," he says, closing the door again. Damon and Clare come down the stairs fully dressed and Stefan comes out of his room at nearly the same time.
"Her phone is in our room, I've been around the house, down to the private beach and she's not there. She hasn't been around any of it for hours," I tell them in a worried voice.
"We'll find her Tyler," Clare assures me, putting a hand on my arm.
"Let's split up, Tyler and I will go one way, you two go the other," Stefan speaks up.
"I was at the public beach earlier and when I got back to my car thought I detected her scent," I inform them.
"Okay, we'll take the public beach, you two go the other way, call if you find her otherwise we'll touch base in an hour," Stefan says.
Damon takes Clare's hand and they run out the door heading away from the public beach. There's cliffs on that side, a harbor and another public beach. Stefan and I get in my car, Stefan rolls the window down, sniffing the air. I park near where I was parked earlier and we get out of the car.
"I smell her, it's pretty faint," Stefan remarks. "When were you here?"
"Most of the day, I'll show you where," I reply motioning down the beach. The beach is closed, it's dark, but Stefan and I can both see perfectly fine. We just need to be sure we don't get caught on the beach after hours. We walk down the beach and I find the large bonfire I had been at with Candi and the other wolves. "I spent my day, and night, here," I tell Stefan.
He sniffs the air a few times before speaking, "Yes, your scent is strong over here, with another you spent many hours with. Lots of very strong scents here, but not Caroline. Wait," he says sniffing the air again. Stefan starts walking so I follow him, and then he stops up the beach a bit. "She was here, the scent is fading, it was hours ago, but she…" Stefan stops and starts walking again, I follow him and we stop near the remnants of another bonfire. "Caroline was here, with some others, but not for long. Her scent is too faint, it's been too long and there are too many others."
I look back at where Stefan stopped before and something occurs to me, "Shit."
"What?"
I deflate a little for what I'm about to confess to Stefan. "I met a girl on the beach, a werewolf, with a whole pack of other werewolves. It's her I was talking to, for hours, nothing happened with us, we were just talking but…"
"But Caroline tracked you, saw you with another girl and got jealous," Stefan finishes for me.
"Yeah, probably, but where is she now? If she saw me and got jealous, why isn't she home yet?"
"I don't know Tyler, but she doesn't have her phone. We should return to the house, she has to come back eventually, all of her stuff is there," Stefan says.
"Yeah, okay," I give in even though I don't want to return to the house without Caroline.
As we walk back to the car Stefan calls Damon and tells them to come back to the house. He says we found Caroline's scent, but it was too faint to follow, and there's nothing more we can do for now. We get back in my car and drive home angrily, slamming the car door when I get in the driveway.
"Tyler, she'll come back," Stefan says.
"It's my fault," I bark leaning against my car.
"What's your fault?" Damon asks appearing with Clare.
"I think Caroline saw me on the beach earlier, talking to another girl and I think she got the wrong idea."
"Just perfect," Damon huffs, opening the door to the house and we follow him in. I'm hoping that Caroline is there but I know she's not.
Clare takes some blood from the fridge and Stefan starts some coffee. We sit and we wait, and wait, and wait and at nearly dawn the door opens and Caroline comes in.
"You smell of fresh blood," Stefan says in a slightly censuring tone.
"You smell of sex," Damon comments and Clare hits his arm.
"Where the hell have you been?" I demand.
