Here's that second chapter from Caesar's POV that I mentioned! I'm still not expecting this to get many (if any) hits, just kind of throwing this out into the void in case anyone wants more content on these two, like I always do. And my relationship with writing has been rather tumultuous lately, so writing this has been rather healing and empowering, just to write something for me and for fun. If any of you out there are reading this, enjoy!
Sunlight streamed in through the grand windows in Caesar's bedroom, beaming down onto Caesar's face. It was enough to stir him from his deep slumber, but he refused to open his eyes just yet. Not only could Caesar not recall the last time he had slept so well, but he had just had the most wonderful dream about Kara as opposed to the usual nightmares he had dreaded where he was forced to watch her die in his arms again. In this dream, Kara was back-she was alive. After helping them defeat Madoras and restoring peace to the world, she had returned to Greede with him and the two were living together. They had actually been able to build a life together. They were able to love each other and be together without Shapur or Grazel's evil ambitions getting in the way. A world where they were free to follow their hearts and love each other.
Caesar reasoned that he couldn't sit here daydreaming forever, and that he had to open his eyes sometime. Reluctantly, he opened his eyes to his sun-filled room, only to be absolutely floored by what he saw. Caesar took in the sight before him in disbelief. A curtain of blonde hair was resting on his chest. Kara was there, sleeping on her side and curled up into him. She was laying on his left arm, which was wrapped around her, and her leg was draped over his torso and her head was resting on his chest with her hand resting right over his heart. She briefly stirred, and Caesar worried his own stirrings had woken her up, until she sighed in her sleep and curled further into him, her breathing a slow and steady rhythm. Caesar took this all in-getting to wake up next to Kara, that she was here, breathing calmly and steadily into his chest. The steady cadence of her breathing was his new favorite thing, a perpetual reminder that she was here, with him, exactly where she should be. This was real.
Smiling at her sleeping figure, Caesar brought his right arm around her as well and squeezed her gently and affectionately, holding her tighter, cherishing this moment. He promised to himself that he would never take these moments with her for granted, not after the gift of life they were given. Caesar lifted his head to tenderly kiss the top of Kara's head, and at this she gave a soft moan and started to awaken. With a big yawn, Kara opened her brilliant violet eyes and blinked owlishly. She seemed confused as to where she was for a moment, she surveyed her surroundings, taking in Caesar's room. She then looked down at her hand, still resting on his chest, then she finally looked up at Caesar, letting him stare into those eyes that had long captivated him. It appeared that to Kara, too, this didn't feel quite real-almost too good to be true-except it was.
When their eyes met, Caesar smiled at her and gruffly whispered, "good morning, beautiful," before lifting her chin to plant a loving and gentle kiss on her lips. Kara smiled into the kiss and sighed contentedly. When they pulled away after a moment, Kara spoke first, saying in her sultry voice, "You know, I think I'm really going to enjoy waking up next to you." Caesar only hummed in contentment and grinned at her. Carefully pulling her closer so she was laying completely on top of him, Caesar found her brilliant violet eyes gazing back at his in amusement and longing. She giggled as he kissed her once more, and when they pulled away again, his arms were still wrapped around her waist, and she was still completely on top of him, her arms now wrapped behind his neck, returning his embrace. Caesar just stared at her, taking her in with absolute wonder. Caesar had never felt so happy and content in his life, and he reflected once again on the ultimate gift they were given; not only the chance at a life, but a life together, one where they were allowed to be as in love with each other as they were with no wars threatening to tear them apart again.
Caesar was brought back to reality by Kara tenderly stroking his hair and staring at him questioningly, wondering what he was thinking about. "What's on that mind of yours?" She whispered, and he lightly chuckled and said "You." "I just still can't believe this is real. That you're here, and we finally get to be together. Losing you was the worst pain I've ever had to endure, Kara. Each day without you didn't quite feel like living, it just felt like going through the motions. Now that fate has been kind enough to bring us back together again, I...Kara, I'm never going to take these moments-or you for granted," Caesar lamented, trying to articulate what was on his mind.
Wiping away an unconscious tear that was falling down his cheek, Kara looked back at him knowingly and let his name escape her lips, at a loss for words. Not quite knowing what to say, she returned his sentiments by kissing him deeply. When they pulled away, Caesar found her violet eyes gazing into his lovingly again and she said, "I don't know what I did to deserve this, to not only find my best friend and the love of my life in one person, but to get to spend my life with you. If anything, it's me who has learned not to take anything for granted. Especially you." Bringing one hand around from where it was wrapped behind his neck, Kara gently caressed his cheek and said, "I love you, Caesar."
As if he still wasn't thoroughly convinced, Caesar carefully squeezed her a bit tighter and gruffly said, "Please tell me this is real. That I'm not going to wake up any minute." Kara smirked playfully at him and said, "Well, if you still need some convincing, I'd be more than happy to oblige." With this, Kara began showering him with kisses along his collarbone, then his neck, and when she started planting kisses on his cheek, Caesar stole the opportunity to bring his fingers under her chin and her lips inches away from his. "You know, I think you're right," Caesar started, "We're going to have to thoroughly test to make sure you're real." Kara giggled, and he put his hand behind her head and brought his lips to hers, kissing her deeply. Mid-kiss, Caesar rolled them over so Kara was now under him.
Kara chuckled into his mouth as Caesar deepened their kiss and their loving embrace. Kara wrapped her arms around Caesar's neck once again, and one hand came up to play with the braids tied back behind his head. When he pulled away from their kiss, Caesar smirked playfully at Kara, and she was wearing a similar expression, her eyes gazing back into his, full of want. Already reading his expression and knowing where this was going and what he was going to ask, Kara stared into his eyes again, and nodded in assurance at him. Caesar didn't even want to know how stupid the grin on his face looked before he kissed her once more, and the two lovers got lost in the sheets and in each other.
And the end of another chapter! I know this was pretty fluffy, but I hope it was adorable and not fluff-overwhelming! I still have ideas for more chapters (that might include a bit of time jumps) so watch this space!
