Hello all,

If you've made it this far, you're awesome. I mean it. The fact that you've been coming back to read is awesome. The fact that you've been coming back to read a longfic like this is even more awesome. I hate to do this to you, but here goes:

It's a terrible place to pause, but I am pausing my uploads nonetheless from now until the end of December. I won't stop writing — National Novel Writing Month is just around the corner, and I plan to use it to add another 50,000 words to this fic. (Incidentally, if you also want to try participating in this event, I encourage you to go for it!) I plan to use this week to get some reading in and finish playing The Outer Worlds.

November will be a non-stop attempt to write roughly the length of one of my uploads, every single day, for thirty days. And while I've flirted with the idea of also posting the results every day, NaNoWriMo is all about the word count — the idea is to just write and not worry about editing. So I'd accidentally let through more typos and editing mistakes than I have been, and we can't have that.

Speaking of which, I plan to use December to edit everything I've written so far. While this fic is turning out better than I thought it would, there's a few things that deserve a second look. I'm not planning any major surgery: mostly things like punching up descriptions, fixing inconsistencies, and (yes) fixing the typos. If I do end up changing something major — defined as anything longer than a paragraph — I will document those changes in a second note before I resume posting.

Thanks for your patience, especially with my missed uploads. I had plenty written before I started posting, but, as it turns out, not nearly enough. I burned through last year's NaNoWriMo efforts by May, and I'm honestly amazed that I made it for several months with writing something new twice a week, with only some interruptions. Unfortunately, I've had a lot of difficult stuff come up in the past month that's been eating at my focus. That's another reason I'm hoping this two-month hiatus will be good for this fic, too.

Finally, thanks for all the time you've spent here. Happy holidays, and I'll see you in the new year.
