Day Two: "Mmm, your kid before five in the morning." + parenthood

Maddie felt like she'd been hit by a truck, and she groaned in pain as she opened her eyes at the sound of Jee getting up. "Moooo-ommmm, get up!"

Christmas morning, wasn't it? She'd been at work all day yesterday, and had come home to finish decorating and wrapping presents. She and Jee were going to go and see Chim at the firehouse. As usual he had work, but as usual, there was a dinner planned.

She was so tired, and she wished that Chimney was there. "She's your kid before five in the morning," Maddie mumbled as she got out of the bed, squinting at the clock. 4:45. She walked into the hall, seeing Jee guiltily pause her investigation of the boxes under the tree.

"Merry Christmas, mommy!" She said, grinning.

"Merry Christmas," Maddie replied, feeling some of her weariness fade at the sight of Jee's smile. She remembered christmases past, and knew that she wouldn't trade this feeling for anything in the world.
