Chapter 1: The Song
Nightfall began to creep over the wooded landscape of the Takodana forest. Nocturnal species native to the planet sent calls to one another giving off an ethereal song. Din Djarin began to light a small fire he had made next to his makeshift campsite. His new ship lay tucked aside in a small clearing. It had been six long months tracking. No matter where his leads took him, they always seemed to come to dead ends. Today was no different than the rest. He had landed on Takodana for refueling and supplies. Upon entering the city's center earlier that day, no one seemed to know of the person he was searching for. Just another stop along the way in pursuit of a ghost.
At the moment, loneliness consumed him. He sat with his legs stretched out on the damp, needle covered floor staring into the flames. He honestly only took the job at hand because he needed something to occupy his mind. With his companion now gone, he seemed to have no purpose. The slight breeze made the flames dance around the small rock pit. Getting to his feet, Din scanned the landscape through his visor. He needed to collect another tank of water. Following the tracks of a small animal, Din heard the roar of a waterfall not far off. He continued to make his way through the maze of trees reaching the secluded plunge basin.

The trees whispered as a slight breeze passed through the secluded glade. It was close to nightfall and shadows danced around the sandy bank of the basin. Two moons shone brightly in the Takodana sky; one full and one a silver sliver. Anara made her way to the edge of the plunge basin, wiggling her toes in the soft mud. The chilled water nipped at her ankles as she waded in. This was one of her favorite times of the day. Her mind stayed silent for the time being while she bathed under the moons. She made it a point to come here almost every day to clear her thoughts and be at peace. Anara dove underwater feeling weightless as she swam nearer to the waterfall. Coming up for a breath, she made her way to the eroded rocks closest to the sides of the fall. The push of water was steady as it flowed outwards forcing Anara to swim with more force. She grabbed the edge of one of the jagged rocks pulling herself to sit atop it. Anara closed her eyes relishing in the feeling of tranquility. She began to sing a lullaby as she rested her body on the rocks.

Din came upon the clearing of trees that lined the plunge basin. Suddenly he stopped, sensing another presence. He moved with stealth placing the water tank down and gripping the blaster on his hip. His visor picked up human footprints leading out of the forest a few lengths down from his location. He trailed them until he spotted a pile of clothing and blanket laid upon the basin's bank. Din then focused his line of vision on the basin before him. A woman stood waist deep in the dark water. The moons above illuminated the pool casting her in a halo like glow. Her long, straight brown hair trailed down her back. Before he could blink, the woman dove underwater coming up only once for air as she headed toward the rocks closest to the falls. Din cursed under his breath slipping the blaster back in its holster. He sensed no danger in the moment and turned to head back to his ship not to disturb the woman. He had no right invading her privacy. It was the sound that made him abruptly stop where he was. A song eased its way through the hiss of the falls. It was a song he didn't recognize but instead a language he did. Mando'a.
Author's Note: This is my first attempt at a Star Wars fanfiction. My inspiration behind this story was a dream sequence I had featuring the Mandalorian and an unknown woman. I also went back and re-watched the show to catch any details I missed the first time. While this story is not the same as my dream, I think it is coming along nicely. So far, I have the bones of this fanfiction laid out. It takes place after Season 2 of The Mandalorian. I will be adding more chapters, but it takes some time due to my job and family. Thanks for the support and enjoy!
