LOVE THAT HAS BEEN LOST CHAPTER 15
"How far are long are you?" Addison asked as she prepare for an ultrasound
"12 weeks at most"
"Is this your first? Prenatal care?"
"Yes" Addison nods
"This will be cold" as she examine her she turn the monitor so Meredith could see the fetus inside her "here is your baby, strong heartbeat and growing like a textbook" Meredith was tearing up but she wipe it away Addison can relate to her
"Does Derek know about" Meredith shook her head "I'm guessing it's a secret don't worry I won't tell anyone"
"Thanks"
They walk out of the exam room when Addison got a page for a consult. Hours passed she just got out of the scrub room and update the husband of her patient to tell him that his wife and baby will be ok. The thought of her dreaming or rather remembering that Derek was part of her past didn't come to her mind that day. She was focused on filling up the patient's chart when she heard a punching and shouting, the other person's voice was very familiar to her so she walk to where the commotion is and she see his brother puncher her colleague, not just a colleague it was Derek, she went near them to stop them before Archer killed him
"Archie!" She called him, he stop when he heard her sister call his name. She looks so angry, it terrifies him
"Hey sis" he got up and walk towards her when Addison pulled him by the ear and went to the conference room and closed the door
"What the hell are you doing punching a doctor!"
"He has an ugly face I got irritated" he cooly replied
Addison pinched the bridge of her nose "what are you even doing here?" Taking a seat next to her brother
"Well I miss you and the kids" Addison look at him suspiciously, don't get wrong it wasn't surprising that he came to visit her and the kids but something tells Addison that it was more than that
"Really?"
"Fine. The Captain and Bizzy wants to know how are you moving here and all"
"Ah you've been sent out here to inspect" she laugh "haha I'm good Archie, the kids love it here and Jake also"
"What about Shepherd?"
"You know him?" She asks
"Not much. I mean I'm a world-class neurologist and he a neurosurgeon so it wasn't a big world"
"Right" she replies with a tone of "I don't believe"
"Anyway have you remembered anything?"
"Just a weird dream" Archer waited for her to continue "I had a dream earlier about the med school I was under a tree and Derek was there"
"Really" Archer replied concealing his shock
"Yeah, I think he from my past. When I first saw him when I was looking for Henry I felt like I'd known him for so long and same thing with Sloan, I don't know I'm confused"
"Don't force yourself to remember Adds" he gets up and hugs his baby sister. He would do anything to protect her, they were having a moment when the door burst and they see Henry, Angela, and Jake go in
"Uncle Archie" Both the kids greeted him
"Hey kids miss me" Addison just shake her head and smile they talk and talk good thing that it was a slow day for both Jake and Addison so they have time for the kids and Archer, they ordered food and it in the conference room
Derek and Mark watching them, they feel somewhere between happy for their friend that she's happy even without the two of them and also sadness but at least they have each other, and no matter what they always have her back. They walk away, Meredith heard the news and starts looking for Derek. They haven't seen each other much so when she found him at the nurse's station she went up to him and check him for any other fracture
"Meredith, what are you doing?"
"Does anything hurt? Who is that man? Should I call security?" She asks
"No worries I'm fine. How are you haven't seen you lately"
"Yeah you know residency is hard and busy" Derek nod he knew the feeling. Their residency was hell well for him and Mark but not Addison she was always the favorite one because she's a Montgomery and very smart and competitive. She was the only girl in their intern through residency so she's tough.
No one talks while Derek takes notes for the patient Meredith starts to talk "do you have time for ahm dinner maybe. There is something I want to tell you about"
"I'll try because I have this surgery later tonight if everything went good as expected I'll be out by 8" he smiled at her
"Sounds good well good luck" she kissed him and walk away.
Later that night everything went well for Derek's patient so he's preparing for his dinner with his wife. She texted her where she made the reservation and she's going to meet him there when he pulled up he gave the keys to the valley and went inside
"Reservation for?"
"Ahm Meredith Grey?"
"I'm sorry sir but there is no Meredith Grey here"
"How about Meredith Shepherd?"
The person in front looked and looks like she found it
"Yes Meredith Shepherd right this way sir" she leads the way and Derek see Meredith sitting near the window having a full view of the City
"Is this seat taken?" Meredith look at him
"I'm sorry yes I'm going to have dinner with my husband" she teased
"So Mrs. Shepherd ha" she blushed
"Yeah"
"Have you ordered yet?" Derek ask as he takes his seat Meredith shook her head "shall we order then" he calls the waiter
As they went through the night, Meredith is building the courage to tell her husband that their gonna have a child together. When she was about to talk about it their pagers went off 911 they hurried to pay the bills and went to the hospital they see K.Os. They help everyone as much as they can, and there goes again not a chance to tell Derek about the baby.
Next few days Derek started to face Addison little by little, he tried to talk to her without snapping at her. He felt happy talking to her again even not like before, well his relationship with Addison was improving his relationship with Meredith isn't he still doesn't know about the baby and she's almost 4 months pregnant.
For a few days, Meredith started to feel a little pain she thought it was because of the stress of work so she took a rest whenever she can. She's going to page Addison if the pain doesn't subside but she went to work anyway
It was a slow day for the hospital, no laboring mom and screaming babies, no brains that needs to be open, no trauma it was a quiet day. So Addison decided to go to the roof to see the view there, because when she work before when she was stressed or overwhelmed she went up there and enjoy the sun and the view that's what she's doing now.
Lost in her thoughts she heard someone join her she look at who it was and it was Derek, the person who kept her thinking for the past few days. They stay there in silence,
"a lot of silence is happening here isn't it," Addison thought
"How are you, Dr. Montgomery?"
"I'm good Dr. Shepherd, how was the bruised?" Addison look and check his face, he flinched to her touch he haven't felt that in years. You could feel the love and care in her touch
"Yeah, it was healing. Your brother still hasn't lost his touch" he jokingly said the only thing is he's the only one who finds it funny "hey, what's bothering you?"
Addison felt hesitant to talk but she talk anyway "have I ever known you before? Before I started working here?"
"Did she remember anything?" Derek thought
"What do you mean?"
"Like are we friends before? With Sloan? Did we enter the same school?" Derek didn't know what to answer, part of him wanted to tell the truth to help her remember but there's part of him remembered also what she said that she doesn't want to remember her past so he's torn right now. When a pager went off they look down and both of them got a page so they went down in the E.T and they saw Meredith curled in a fetal position.
Addison examine her and check the baby then she saw blood come from Meredith. She saw Derek's reaction he didn't move from his position when he entered the E.R and by the looks of it he still doesn't know well they have no time for that Meredith could die
"Book an O.R. We are going to perform a D " Derek who was still stunned that he was is pregnant that he didn't know how she's having a miscarriage "move Derek" he moved out of the way he doesn't know what to do should he be at the gallery or should he be at his office and mourn about their unborn child. He's confused now when Mark and Jake went to him to comfort him
Hours later Addison come out of the scrub room to update Derek that due to the stress that Meredith's been having and the baby wasn't strong enough to handle it so she miscarried and lost the baby, Derek cried it out for a little while his friends let him and went to Meredith's room. He sat next to her looking at her sleeping, how could he be so stupid not paying attention to his wife because all he think about was Addison and he neglected his wife now they lost the baby he hadn't heard the heartbeat or he haven't seen the ultrasound. He knew Addison performed the prenatal care so maybe he's going to ask for the copy.
When Derek woke up from the sound of Meredith it was morning the next day he went to her side
"Meredith I'm so sorry I didn't know that you were pregnant, why didn't you tell me?"
"I did Derek I tried but we both got busy and didn't have time," she said crying
"Oh honey I'm sorry I wasn't with you" he kissed her and hug her
"It's ok. It will be ok" she said they lay there mourning together for their unborn child
