LOVE THAT HAS BEEN LOST CHAPTER 16
A lot had happened inside and outside of the hospital and things are well as they expect them. The relationship of Meredith and Derek since they lost their child was on ice thin, they buried themselves to work to hoping to not feel mourning. Addison, on the other hand, can't help but wonder who is Derek in her past, when she tries to remember her head hurts. She's not saying anything to Jake because she knows he'll be worried
Addison was in her office when she got page by her husband for a consult, she got ready and exited her office. She saw him standing at the nurse's station waiting for her, she smiled and went over to him she put her chin to his shoulder
"Hey handsome" she whispers
"Hey beautiful" then he turned around he kissed her for a minute
"So what you got for me?"
"A patient came in for a consult, she doesn't have previous prenatal care. Would you mind checking her"
"Anything for you baby" they start walking to the patient's room. Addison was overwhelmed because there are a lot of people inside the room and they all shouting "who's the father" "I'm the father" Addison saw the pregnant woman crying
"Ok enough!" Addison shouted they went all quiet "What's going on here?" Looking around waiting for an answer
"We went to a fertility specialist in L.A. This is Lisa our surrogate mother." The blonde woman said
"And then what happened?" Addison assessed the situation
"Then the night we went to the fertility specialist she had sex with him" pointed to the guy next to her "and him" pointed to the guy across her "and him" the last she pointed was the guy next to the patient "so we don't know who the father is"
Addison and Jake hide their shock about the revelation they are professionals after all so they can't judge
"Ok I'm Dr. Jake Reily and this is my wife Dr. Addison Montgomery-Reily she's going to check Lisa and the baby. I'm gonna contact your fertility clinic to assess for anything" Jake explained and walk out the door
"I need some privacy would you mind going to the cafeteria or something" Addison politely ask then they all exited the room Addison started performing the ultrasound
"Are you ok?"
"I don't know," she said "you know I agree to be a surrogate, having a baby that is not mine but it's my responsibility. That hist me responsibility, I didn't think much and they all wanted me" she continue talking when she sees that Addison looking at the sonogram so serious she felt nervous "Dr. Montgomery"
A few minutes late all the people with Lisa came back and so is Jake. They sense that it was serious so they went quiet
"I'm gonna run some more tests ok"
"You look so serious, is something wrong?"
"Let's just wait for the lab result for now I'd like to admit you here overnight to run the labs"
The next morning Addison got Lisa's test result back on her desk, she analyzed it and it doesn't look good. When she walked to her room Jake was there checking Lisa, so is Carol and her husband, and ex-husband his lover, and Lisa's husband. When she walked in all the attention was on her
"Lisa's baby has called placenta accreta. The placenta abnormally attach to a uterine wall that makes delivering danger both mom and the baby" she explained "and I also run a genetic matching and the result the baby has some genetic markers that don't match with Carol, just Lisa"
"What the embryo"
"Did not implant" Addison cut her off "which also means the paternity once again progress"
Few moments of silence they were all shocked at what Addison told them.
"The baby isn't even mine," Carol said
"Calm down," her husband said
"Calm down," she said in a sarcastic tone
"You mean I can keep this baby if I want to?"
"Legally yes," Jake said
"So who's the father?" Lisa's husband said
"We won't know till the baby was delivered," Addison said "but the more urgent moment is the placenta accreta. The fact the Lisa is at risk of life-threatening hemorrhage and the baby could deliver preterm" Addison explained
"You're saying they could die?" Lisa's husband asked
"There is a risk of death" Lisa is almost having difficulty of breathing, Addison walk towards Lisa's bed "Lisa I know you're scared, if you do go to preterm labor you'll have a C-section and we'll monitor it and control it so you'll have a better chance of saving your uterus and your life"
"You'll save us, me and the baby?" Lisa asked
"Yes, I'll be the one performing it. I'm gonna discharge you and you'll take a rest" they all nodded, they know that Addison is the best in her field. Jake who stand in the corner witnessing the interaction between Addison and the patient, he was mesmerized by how his wife has a good bedside manner. As they walk out the door Jake can't help but stare at Addison, while she ordered her intern to prepare for discharge the patient and update the patient's chart she was too busy to notice him staring
"You are amazing you know that," he said proudly
Addison look up at him and smile "I am the best aren't I" she wink and kissed him "I'm gonna take a rest for a while ok" Jake nodded and walk away
She need an actual rest because her head kept hurting all day though it's bearable it still hurts when she found an on-call room, she lay down on the lower bed. She let out a sigh multiple times
"Someone is trying to sleep here" she heard a voice
"Sorry. I didn't know somebody's here"
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing"
"Addie"
"It's nothing Derek" Derek went down to sit next to Addison, he looks at her until she gave in
"Talk to me, Addie"
"I had a dream about med school and you were there. Have we known each other since med school?"
"Yes," Derek said and walk away, he doesn't want to talk about it with her. It will only complicate her life, he can see through her eyes she still has feelings for him and once she remembered it, it will overwhelm her.
