LOVE THAT HAS BEEN LOST CHAPTER 18
When Addison entered the E.R she see Liza on a gurney feeling uncomfortable, she rush towards her and assess her immediately
"Liza?" She started
"Addison, somethings wrong" Liza stated holding her husband's hand slightly shifting her body then fluid came out of her and wet the bed
"Liza your water broke, we're gonna take you to surgery. You're having this baby now" she informed her patient "page Dr. Robbins" and instructed the intern who's assigned to her to prep the patient for surgery
Addison exited the Attending's locker room proceeding to scrub in for Liza's surgery when she came across Liza's husband, Carol, and her husband and ex-husband and her ex-husband's boyfriend or whatever. Addison throw them a death glare because she knew that they are the reason why Liza will be having this baby earlier than expected, she just passes then but they followed her and ask her questions
"Is she okay? Are they okay?" Carol pantingly asked
"It's too early" the ex-husband's boyfriend or whatever talk
"She wasn't due for another month" The tall blond guy wearing a black polo and brown coat said
"I'm guessing you guys fighting declaring "the father" doesn't help so move!" Addison shouted and rush to the O.R
Addison is scrubbing in when a nurse informed her that the baby is crowning, she hurried to wash her hands and arm and enter the O.R proceeding to Liza.
"I need to push," Liza said while breathing heavily due to the contractions during labor
Addison while she's putting on her gown and gloves when she finished she take a seat facing Liza's vagina
"No! No! Don't push Liza. The cord is wrapped around the baby's neck" Addison stated while taking care of the cord around the baby
"I'm sorry I can't" Liza started to push within minutes the baby was out, a nurse cut the umbilical cord and Addison gave the baby to Arizona who will assess the baby.
"Is she okay?"
"Hang 20 of oxytocin" Addison ordered a nurse
"Why isn't she crying?"
"Dr. Robbins will work on her, we need to focus on you Liza," she said wiping blood from Liza's vagina "fortunately you're not bleeding that much so we'll be able to remove the placenta by " she was cut off when a gush of blood dripping down from Liza's vagina
"By-by what?" Liza said panicking is evident in her voice and the monitor started beeping loudly
"Put her under now," Addison said
"What's going on?" Arizona asked
"Her uterus is about to rupture because of the placenta accreta we have to open her up" Addison informed everyone while putting another set of sterile gloves
"No! No no no! The baby's not crying"
"Bp's 58/82" a nurse informed the doctors
"No no no I won't till I hear the baby cry" Liza protested
"We don't have much time Liza, we need to put you under right now" Then they hear a scream from the baby, Liza smile before a nurse put the mask to knock her unconscious
"Go Addison" Arizona gave her approval and Addison nodded
"I need 2 units of B and make sure we have plenty on standby, she's gonna exsanguinate if we don't move quickly people. 10-blade" Addison informed all her staff in the O.R and started the procedure, she was so focused on operating that she wasn't aware that there's a lot of people watching her in the gallery.
Jake, Richard, Burke, Derek were watching her operate. To their minds thinking she's a rockstar, Jake whom proud that she was his husband, to Richard well she's his star surgeon obviously, and Derek he's always been proud of her since they were students to interns up until residency. Even if she can't remember her now he is still her number one fan for him
After hours of surgery finally, Addison scrubs out, taking notes during and after surgery, instructing the inter and nurses to monitor Liza's condition and page her immoderately if anything changes. She walk to the waiting room to inform Liza's family about her condition, she saw them sitting there, and when they saw her they stand up
"Liza lost a lot of blood, we have to put the baby in oxygen but they are both stable" she calmly inform them
"Who's the father?" The blond guy who Addison doesn't know the name
She gave them a confusing look "what-what?"
"You said you sent of a paternity test," the other guy said wearing a funnel shirt
"Which one of us is the father?" The guy from the back said
"Did Liza say anything about anything or decision about the baby?" Carol asked
Addison was amused and not in a good way, she can't believe that all these people care about was "who's the father" like it was the most important at this moment, the girl almost died delivering that baby and all they care about is who is the father. This pisses off Addison, she wants to scream at them but she needs to keep it professional
"Liza lost a lot of blood, we have to put the baby in oxygen but they are both stables. I say it again because you seem like you didn't hear me the first time. They almost died! Liza almost died, so I didn't have time what with trying to save her life to pause and check on the paternity test or ask her about the baby's future! What is wrong with you people?!" She said raising her voice a little that causes people to look at them.
"Can- can we see the baby?"
"No! None of you go near Liza or the baby until I said so. The child is not a possession that you fight of!" Addison walked away from them in disbelief but before she walk further she turn back at them and said "and by the way not that you asked, it's a girl 6 pounds 9 ounces" then she walk away from them
Addison walks straight to the stairway from there she takes a seat on one of the steps, thinking why are they people like them, only thinking about themselves. Poor Liza and what she's been through during this pregnancy, without realizing Addison was crying. She cried for a good whole minute when she heard the upstairs door open then she wipe her tears and look at the person who entered the door, it was Derek looking shocked seeing Addison in there.
"You okay?" He asks
"Yeah" still wiling her tears, Derek sat next to her, they stayed silent for a while when Addison break it "you've been avoiding me" stating the obvious
Derek let out a snort "yeah I did" he turn to look at her who's been staring at him too
"Why?" She asked pissed off
He didn't answer her yet because he was mesmerized with her eyes staring at him, he just misses those blue-green eyes that he used to wake up every morning and before he sleep through the night
"Derek" she called him that snaps him out of his thought
"Because" he started and nothing came out of him. It has been a successful few days avoiding Addison until this day, everywhere he goes he sees her seems like fate had enough of him that is leading them to each other
"Because? Damn it, Derek! I wanna know who the fuck are you in my past" she shouted
This set Derek in a blind rage because he can't take it anymore, the pandora box that he secretly kept before he didn't want to open knowing that the person who is inside that box is no longer exists but then she appeared alive standing sitting beside him and now it's time
"You really wanna know?! I was your boyfriend no scratch that I was your fiancé from 10 years ago!" He screams at her, Addison looking in shocked at his revelation
"Wha- you? How-" Addison trying to form a sentence but can't
"Now you know" he stated and leave, leaving Addison more confused and feeling guilty because she said in front of his face that she doesn't want to remember her past. Then now finding that he was a big part of that past, tears flowing freely in her eyes
