I'm too mad to continue reading the note. Instead, I grab a glass cup and hurl it across the room, causing a huge crash. The shards of glass fly everywhere, a couple hitting me but not cutting me.

It does nothing to ease my anger, so I grab a plate and throw it, too. The same situation, glass flying everywhere, but this time the shards are much larger. One of them hits me, and right away I can tell it cut me.

I swear and fall down to lean against the cabinets. I put my head on my knees and cross my arms next to my forehead. I stare at the cut on my calf, inspecting it. It doesn't look deep, but the shard is still stuck in it.

I don't even try to pull it out. I'm still angry enough to throw several other glass objects, but I can't or Mom will notice. I sit there for a little while before I stand and clean the glass up. I can't have Mom or Dad knowing that I broke not one, but two glass items. On purpose.

I scour the kitchen and adjoining living room until I can't possibly find any more glass shards, then I go around and sweep the entire house. Why raise suspicions and just sweep the kitchen and living room?

Once I'm done, I glance at my leg and am relived to see that the cut hasn't bled much yet, miraculously. I go to the bathroom, lock the door, and gather bandages. I sit on the edge of the tub with my leg in it and grab the shard. I hesitate, knowing how much pain is going to come after I take it out.

Taking a deep breath and steeling myself, I yank the shard out, struggling not to scream with the sudden pain. I can hear the blood start to stream into the tub.

I shakily grab the bandages and wrap them tightly around the cut, seeing them start to turn red. Once I have them secured, I take a wet rag and scrub of the blood on my leg and any other splatters that might have gotten on me.

I pick up the shard from where it lays on the floor and inspect it. It's about the size of half of my hand, but the same length. The majority of the shard has blood on it, but it isn't splatters. It is like what you would imagine if a knife was stabbed into someone and pulled out. It is a solid layer of red, with a few drops of red around the boundary.

I take my leg out and turn on the shower-head, washing away the ruby liquid. I watch it stream away in ribbons as I stand there, my leg throbbing. I throw the shard into the trash can.

I heave a shaky sigh when it's all gone and go back into the kitchen. I snatch the note off of the refrigerator and slam it down onto the table.

Let's see what this says.

I start reading below the crossed out 'Za'.

'Keina, we had to go to town for groceries. If you want, you can go back to the forest, but be careful. We put your breakfast in a container that's in the fridge.
Love you, M & D'

I sigh and throw the note away. I open the fridge and ignore the container of food, instead grabbing a bottle of orange juice.

I gather everything that Za put together yesterday and put it in the same drawstring bag. Then I grab two more rolls of bandages and, after some consideration, write a short note saying that I will be in the forest all day again.

Five minutes later, I'm on my way to the forest.

I can tell that I'm hungry but I have no appetite. With that thought, I have an idea. Taking out my phone, I look up how to make a live trap large enough for a deer or something similar. I don't think the dragon can hunt very well in its current condition.

Either way, I want something to do today other than sit around or nap. I study ways to build traps the entire time it takes to enter the forest.

When I arrive, I put my phone away and follow the exact trail in Za's memories.

About halfway along, I lose the trail for a few minutes. Panic is stating to grip me when I stumble back onto it. I sigh in relief, continuing on my way.

This time, I keep closer attention to the trail.

It takes a good 15 minutes more until I push into the Dragon's clearing. The first thing I see is a big hole in the middle of the area. There is no sign of the Dragon besides dragging marks and talon-prints.

"Dragon?" I call out cautiously, creeping further into the clearing. "Did you dig this big hole?"

All that answers my words is a strange 'whumf'ing sound that seems like it's coming from all around me. Chills run up my back as I notice that the ground is vibrating in rhythm with the thumping.

My breath becomes very shaky as I feel regret for coming here today. For some reason, I can't make my body move away from the hole, which, evidently, is where the sound is coming from.

The sound gets louder and louder and then it stops abruptly. It's as if the entire world is silent, waiting for something to happen. The only thing I can hear is my breath and my heartbeat, which beats rapidly.

Taking the chance, I slowly start to lift my foot and move it backwards.

The instant my toes tough the ground, a roar bursts from the depths of the hole and a shadow jumps out of it.

A scream tears itself from my throat as I'm pushed back by the sudden burst of air.

A scaly snout shoves itself into my face, its teeth bared and a snarl ripping through the air. These scales are not red.

Giant grey eyes glare at me as pitch-black wings stretch out above us, the muzzle of the second Dragon curling with the snarl. Its breath smells like death.

Not even five seconds after it has shown itself, another Draconic voice cries out from the forest's edge. The red Dragon from before jumps forward this time. It speaks to the black Dragon with the Draconic language in quick streams, holding its talons out placatingly. The Dragon above me quickly seems to become confused, slightly pulling away from me.

I have nearly calmed down completely now that the Dragon has returned. Once the black Dragon gets off of me, I stand up and send a look towards the red one. "How dare you scare me like that." I say, taking precarious care not to show my fear or anger.

It just stares at me before heaving a huge sigh and sliding back down to the ground. All of my current emotions fly away, leaving concern in their wake.

"Are you okay? Did you overexert yourself? Are you feeling any pain?" I'm at the Dragon's side in a second, surprising myself and, apparently, the black dragon. The red Dragon shook its head to each question, trying to mime what looks like dying with its talons. "I don't suppose you're saying something about dying, are you?" I ask sheepishly.

It huffs at me before closing its eyes and making a snore-like sound, then glares at me again.

It takes me a moment, but I realize what its trying to say. "Oh! You're tired! Sorry, that might be my fault."I apologize, standing up and backing away. "I'll let you nap now."

I turn around as it rolls its eyes and nearly run into the black Dragon.

"Oh! Hi! I forgot about you for a second."

It only stares at me, looking astonished.

"What, never seen a Japanese girl speak English?" I deadpan.

It snorts, going beside the red Dragon and curling up.

I grin, an idea forming in my head. "Wait are you two, like, a thing? You guys are soo cute with each other!"

I must've struck a nerve there, because the black Dragon leaps to its feet, looking suspiciously red around its nose. It stiffly stomps away from the red Dragon and curls up beside a tree. The red Dragon begins to look lonely after that.

Oh, yeah. I can have soooo much fun with these two!
