Chapter 9: Lessons
It is the next day and I am peacefully sleeping with my parents with my headphones on when I was being woken up by my nephew, Simba calling for his dad, Mufasa. "Dad, dad! come on dad we gotta go, wake up!" Simba called. Simba stepped over the lionesses who were sleeping. He then reached Mufasa. "Dad, dad?! dad!" Simba said. Simba kept calling Mufasa's name but Mufasa was sleeping, along with Sarabi.
"Your son is awake" Sarabi said in her sleep. "Before the sun rises, he's your son" Mufasa said in his sleep. Simba kept pulling Mufasa's ear to get him to wake up. "Dad!" Simba shouted. Simba grumbled and walked up to me. Simba was then shaking me awake. "Come on Aunt Lana, wake up" Simba said. "Simba please, let me sleep" I said as I buried my head in Ahadi's mane. Simba then walked over to Mufasa and bumped his head.
Mufasa woke up and looked at his son. "You promised" Simba said with anger. "Okay, okay, I'm up, I'm up" Mufasa said. Mufasa then yawned a roar and got up. Mufasa then walked at me and shook me lightly to wake up. "Time to wake up Lana" Mufasa said. "Five more minutes" I said. "Time to wake up, we have lessons today" Mufasa said.
"Fine" I said. I then woke up and stretched. When I woke up I took my headphones out of my ears and put my phone in my pocket and walked out of the cave with Mufasa, Sarabi, and Simba. When I walked up pride rock with Mufasa and Simba, we sat down when we got to the top of pride rock. I looked as the sun was rising. "Look, Simba. Everything the light touches is our kingdom" Mufasa said.
"Wow" Simba said. "A king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day Simba, the sun will set on my time of year, and will rise with you as the new king" Mufasa said. "And this will all be mine?" Simba said. "Everything" Mufasa said. "What about that shadowy place?" Simba said. "That is beyond our borders. you must never go there Simba" Mufasa said. "But I thought a king can do whatever he wants" Simba said.
"Oh, there is more to being a king than getting your way all the time" Mufasa said. I nodded. "There's more?" Simba said. "Simba" Mufasa said with a chuckle. After a while, we were walking around the pride lands. "Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As a king, you need to understand that balance, and respect all the creatures from the crawling ant, to the leaping antalop" Mufasa said.
"But Dad, don't we eat the antalop?" Simba said. "Yes, Simba but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the grass. and the antelope eat the grass. and so we are all connected in the great circle of life" Mufasa said. Zazu then flew up to us. "Good morning sire" Zazu said. "Good morning Zazu" Mufasa said. "Checking in for the morning report" Zazu said. "Fire away" Mufasa said. As Zazu was telling Mufasa the morning report, Simba was chasing a bug.
"Simba, what are you doing?" I said with curiosity. Mufasa then leaned into Simba. "What are you doing son?" Mufasa said. "Pouncing" Simba said. "Let a pro show you how it's done" Mufasa said. "Zazu, would you turn around?" Mufasa said. "Yes, sire" Zazu said. Zazu then turned around and continued telling Mufasa the morning report.
"Stay low to the ground" Mufasa said. "Try not to make a sound" Mufasa whispered into Simba's ear. I smirked. "What's going on?" Zazu said as he looked at us. "A pouncing lesson" Mufasa replied. "Very good, pouncing" Zazu said. Zazu then realized what Mufasa said. His eyes widened. "Pouncing?! Oh no sire, you can't be serious!" Zazu whined.
I rolled on the ground, laughing my ass off. Mufasa smirked and signaled for Zazu to turn around. "This is so humiliating" Zazu said as he turned around again. "Try not to make a sound" Mufasa said as he leaned into Simba's ear. "What are you telling him Mufasa?" Zazu said as he looked at us. "Mufasa...Simba...Lana...?" Zazu called nervously. Simba then leaped up onto Zazu and pounced him. Mufasa and I were laughing.
Simba then walked back to Mufasa and I. "That's very good. now..." Mufasa said. I was lost in fits of laughter when Zazu said, "Sire, Hyena's! In the pride lands!" Zazu shouted. "Zazu, take Simba and Lana home" Mufasa said as he was leaving. "Can I come with Mufasa, I can help" I said as I stood up. "No Lana, go back home where it's safer" Mufasa said. "But please Mufasa I..." I started but he cut me off. "No Lana, no but's. Just go back home with Simba and Zazu" Mufasa said.
I grumbled and walked back to Simba and Zazu. "Aw dad, can't I come?" Simba said. "No son" Mufasa said. Mufasa then left. "ugh, I never get to go anywhere" Simba whined. I nodded, agreeing with him. "Same, this isn't fair" I whined. "Oh young master's, one day you will be king and queen. then you two can chase those slobbery, mangy, stupid poachers from dawn until dusk" Zazu said.
After a while, Simba, Zazu, and I have arrived home. "Hey sweetie, how was it?" Uru asked as she was greeting me. "It was good mom" I said. "That's good to hear" Uru said. My dad, Ahadi was walking out of the cave. "Hey Lana, how were the lessons today?" Ahadi asked me. "It was good" I said. "That's good. What did you learn?" Ahadi said. "I learned about respecting the circle of life and the meanings of being king" I said.
"Oh, that's good. I'm proud of you Lana" Ahadi said. "Thanks, dad" I said. "I have a question though, How come you didn't let me go with Mufasa when you were teaching? I wanted to be queen too but you only let Mufasa be king. you could have just let all of us rule together like mom said when you were picking" I said. Ahadi looked at me and sighed. "I know I was being unfair to you and Scar, Lana. I'm sorry.
I just thought at that time, there could only be one ruler" Ahadi said. "Well, it doesn't say anything in the rules that there can be only one king and one queen" I said. "Yeah, I agree with Lana, Ahadi" Uru said. I nodded. "Yeah" I said. Ahadi thought for a moment. He then spoke up, "How about this Lana, since I didn't give you and Scar a chance to rule as well, how about you can help Mufasa rule? Like help him with his duties and all that" Ahadi said.
"Like being a queen?" I asked. "Sorta" Ahadi said. "Aren't you gonna ask Scar if he wants to do this too?" Uru said. "Don't worry Uru, I will tell him about this too" Ahadi said. "Thanks Ahadi" Uru said. "Your welcome" Ahadi said. "I'm going to bed" I said. "Goodnight" I said. As I was walking to my room, I saw my neice Axane who was walking up to me. She was Simba's sister.
She has snow white hair, yellow eyes, black clothing with yellow lining in her clothes. "Hey Axane" I said. "Oh, hey Aunt Lana" Axane said. "How are you doing?" Axane said. "I'm good. guess what, my dad is thinking of making me a possible queen" I said. "Oh, that's cool. I'm glad to hear your dad is treating you better" Axane. "Yeah, me too" I said. "Well, I'll let you get some sleep" Axane said.
"Goodnight Axane" I said. "Goodnight Aunt Lana" Axane said. I went to my room and went to sleep.
It is the next day and Simba and I went to greet our best friend, Nala who was getting a bath from her mom, Aunt Sarafina. "Hi Nala" Simba said. "Hey Simba" Nala said. "Come on I just heard about this great place" Simba said. "Simba, I'm kinda in a middle of a bath" Nala said a bit annoyed. "And it's time for yours" Sarabi said.
Sarabi then picked him up by the scruff and laid him in her arms. She then started licking his fur. "And it's time for yours too Lana" Uru said. Uru then picked me up by my scruff and laid me in her arms. "Mom! Mom!" Simba whined as Sarabi was licking him. "Mom, your messing up my main" Simva whined again. "Take your clothes off Lana, I need to give you your bath too" Uru said. "Okay, okay I'm clean, can we go now?" Simba said. "Mom I wanna go too" I said.
"First, you need your bath" Uru said. I whined as I took my clothes off. Uru then started licking me clean. "Mom please hurry up" I said as she kept licking me. I was not too happy about getting a bath because I wanted to go play with Simba and Nala. After I finished my bath, I got my clothes on and stood up. "So where we going? It better not be anyplace dumb" Nala said.
"No, it's really cool" Simba said. "And where is this really cool place?" Sarabi said. "Oh, around the water hole" Simba said. "The water hole? What's so great about the water hole?" Nala whined. "I'll show you when we get there" Simba whispered in her ear. "Oh, uh mom can I go with Simba?" Nala said. "Yeah mom, can I go with Simba too?" I said. I wanted to go because I wanted to know where we were going.
"Hmm...what do you think Sarabi and Uru?" Aunt Sarafina said. "Please" We said with smiles. "Well, it's alright with me" Sarabi said. "I guess it's okay with me too. but be back before sunset, Lana" Uru said. "Yeah!" We cried, happily. "And as long as Zazu goes with you" Sarabi said. "Oh come on" I whined. "No, not Zazu" Simba whined.
After we got Zazu, we left to go exploring.
