Chapter 11: Lessons to be learned

Simba, Nala, and I ran away from the Hyenas. I looked back and they kept chasing us. "Did we lose them?" Nala said as we stopped to catch our breath. "I think so. Wait, where's Zazu?" Simba said. "Let's go look for him, come on" I said. "Stay behind me" I said. The cubs and I searched for Zazu. When we found him, Zazu was being harassed by the hyenas. Zazu was then shot out of the guisers. "Hey! Why don't you pick on somebody your own size?" Simba said.

I facepalmed with embarrassment with Simba's idiotic decision. "Simba, please" I said. "Like...you?" Banzi said. "Oops" Simba said. We then continued running away from the hyenas. As we were running away, we bumped into a wall and we realized we have been cornered. "What do we do Aunt Lana?" Simba said. "I don't know, just stay calm" I said. The cubs then tried to climb up the wall.

I helped the cubs trying to climb up the wall. We lost our balance and we fell down. We turned around to see the hyenas walking up to us. I stood in front of the cubs to protect them from the hyenas. "Here kitty kitty kitty" Banzi said. "Stay back, I am warning you!" I shouted. "Looks like we've got a tough princess, let's eat her first" Shenzi said.

"Look who's talking" I said with a glare. Simba then did a childish roar. Shenzi then laughed. "That was it?! Do it again" Shenzi said. Simba was about to roar again when we heard a loud lion's roar. We looked up to see my brother, Mufasa fighting off the hyenas. When he defeated them, Mufasa pinned them down. The hyenas were whining as Mufasa pinned them down. "SILENCE!" Mufasa roared.

"Okay, we're gonna shut up right now" Banzi said. Mufasa then gave them a dark look in their eyes. I can tell he was pissed. "If you ever come near my son and sister again..." Mufasa said in a dark tone. "Oh that's, that's your son?" Banzi said. "And that's your sister? Did you know that?" Shenzi said. "No of course not...Ed?" Banzi said as both of them looked at him. Ed said nothing and gave a dumb nod. Mufasa roared angrily.

"Toodles" Banzi said as they took off. When we walked up to Mufasa, he gave us angry looks. I was nervous. Zazu nodded but Mufasa gave him an angry look in return. "Dad I..." Simba started but Mufasa cut him off. "You delberily disobeyed me" Mufasa said. "Dad...I'm sorry" Simba said. "Mufasa..." I said. "and you, Lana, you have disobeyed me as well" Mufasa said with anger in his voice.

"Let's go home" Mufasa said. We started our journey home. As we were walking home, we were walking in silence. As we continued walking, we stopped in a meadow on our way home. "Zazu" Mufasa called as we stopped. "Yes, Sire?" Zazu said nervously. "Take Nala home. I have got to teach my son and sister a lesson" Mufasa said. Simba and I hid in the grass when he said that. Zazu then flew up to us. "Come Nala.

Simba, Lana. good luck" Zazu said as he put his wings on our shoulders to comfort us. Zazu and Nala then left, leaving me and Simba alone. I put my hand on my shoulder to comfort my nephew. "It's gonna be okay. I don't think...He'll be too hard on us" I said. Simba said nothing and looked at me. "Simba, Lana!" Mufasa roared our names and called for us to come to him. I took a deep breath. "Let's just get this over with" I said.

"I'm worried Aunt Lana" Simba said. "I know, I am too" I said. Simba and I slowly walked up to Mufasa. Simba stopped when he stepped in a paw print. He took a moment to look at it. I quietly motioned for Simba to come and he followed me. When we got to Mufasa, Simba and I sat on both sides of him. Simba sat on his left and I sat on his right.

Simba and I looked up nervously at Mufasa. "Simba I am very disappointed in you. You could have been killed. And what's worse, you put Nala in danger" Mufasa said. "I was just trying to be brave like you" Simba said in between sobs. Mufasa then looked at me. "I'm very disappointed in you too Lana. Both you and Simba could have been killed today. I don't know what I would do if I'd lost you two.

What were you thinking when you went into the shadowlands when me, and mom and dad told you not to?" Mufasa said, scolding me. I had some tears streaming down my face. "I'm sorry Mufasa. I just...wanted to do things on my own and be more independent. I wanted to show you, mom, and dad that I can take care of myself.

I just wanted some more adventure..." I said in between sobs. I was expecting Mufasa to yell at me or beat the shit out of me but he did not. Instead, he put his paw on my shoulder. "I understand you want to be more independent Lana, and you want to have more adventure. but being independent and wanting more adventure doesn't mean you go looking for trouble, do you understand?" Mufasa said.

"Yes" I said as I nodded my head. Mufasa then turned to Simba. "I'm only brave when I have to be. And the same goes for you, Simba. being brave doesn't mean you go looking for trouble" Mufasa said. "But you're not scared of anything" Simba said. I nodded. "Yeah Mufasa, you're not scared of anything, you're my big brother" I said. "I was today" Mufasa said. "Huh?" I said. "You were?" Simba said. "Yes" Mufasa said.

"I thought I might lose you two" Mufasa said. "I guess even kings get scared huh?" Simba said. "Mmhm" Mufasa said as he nodded. "But you know what?" Simba said. "What?" Mufasa said. "I think those hyenas were even scareder" Simba said. Mufasa chuckled. "That's because no one messes with your dad...come here you" Mufasa said as he picked Simba up. Mufasa then began attacking Simba playfully. "Agh!" Simba cried.

I chuckled as I watched Mufasa and Simba playing. I ran to catch up with them. "Guys slow down!" I called as I was running after them. When I caught up with them, I caught my breath and Simba sat on Mufasa's head and I sat in Mufasa's arms and leaned my head against his mane. "Dad, were pals right?" Simba said. "Right" Mufasa said.

"And we'll always be together, right?" Simba said. "And you'll always be with me too, right Mufasa?" I said. Mufasa then looked at us and looked at the stars. "Simba, Lana, let me tell you something our father told me. Look at the stars. the great kings of the past look down on us from those stars" Mufasa said. "Really?" Simba said. "Yes" Mufasa said. "So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be up there to guide you. and so will I" Mufasa said.

After some time of looking at the stars, we decided to head home. "Mufasa?" I said. "Yes, Lana?" Mufasa said. "What will happen when mom and dad find out that I went to the shadowlands, their gonna kill me!" I said with worry. "Don't worry Lana, I'll take care of it tomorrow. just get some rest tonight" Mufasa said. "Okay, goodnight" I said. "Goodnight Lana" Mufasa said.

I went to my room and fell asleep.
