Chapter 21: A new beginning

A few months have passed since the birth of my granddaughter, Kiara. Kiara is now a full-grown cup. Kiara is just like Simba when he was a cub. Kiara is a happy, playful and happy cub. I was sleeping in the cave, next to Simba and Nala, when I heard Kiara running out of the cave. "Wow!" I heard Kiara shout. I woke up and I shook Simba awake. "What is it, Aunt Lana?" Simba said as he woke up. "I think Kiara's awake" I said.

"Oh, okay...I'll be out in a minute" Simba said. "Okay" Simba said. Simba got up and yawned a roar. Simba then stood up and I followed him as he walked out of the cave. "Woah" Simba said as he grabbed Kiara by the scruff of her neck as she was about to walk off. Kiara giggled as Simba pulled her closer to him and set her down gently. "Where do you think you're going in such a hurry?" Simba said with a smile.

"Daddy...let go" Kiara whined. "Well, I just want you to be carful" Simba said. "Yeah, you never know what can come at you" I said. Kiara ignored us and chased after a butterfly. Simba used his paw and pinned Kiara's tail down. "Kiara, are you listening? accidents can happen. You can easily get hurt..." Simba said.

"Or stepped on, or even get lost" Kiara said, finishing the sentence for him. "And remember, I want you to stay in sight of pride rock at all times" Simba said. "At all times, I know. and if I see any strangers, don't talk to them. come straight home. Okay, okay, can I go now? Please" Kiara said impatiently. "Hmm, very funny" Simba said. I giggled a bit. Nala walked out of the cave and sat down next to her husband.

Nala and Simba married after the battle of the pride lands. "Mind your father, Kiara" Nala said with a smile. "yes, mom" Kiara said. "And stay away from the outlands" Simba added. "Nothing there but a backstabbing, murderous outsiders" Zazu said as he joined us. "Zazu's right, you can't turn your back on them" Simba said. "Really? How come?" Kiara asked with confusion. "Never mind" Simba said. "Just run along now" Simba said.

"But dad I..." Kiara started. "You'll understand one day" Simba said. "Dad!" Kiara said. "And stay on the path I've marked for you!" Simba called as Kiara left pride rock. Nala chuckled. "Simba, who does she remind you of?" Nala said. "Huh? What? Who?" Simba said with confusion. "She's just like you were when you were young" Nala said with a smile. "Exactly.

Do you realize the dangers we put ourselves in?" Simba said. Nala then jumped up on Simba and pinned him down. "You mean the dangers YOU put us in?" Nala corrected him. Simba chuckled and Simba and Nala nuzzled. "She'll be fine" Nala said, reassuring him. Nala then left and walked into the cave. I smiled to myself. I'm happy that the pride lands are at peace now. "Hey Timon, Pumbaa, come here" Simba called.

Timon and Pumbaa walked over to where Simba is. "Good morning mon capitain!" Pumbaa said. "I want you two to keep a close watch on Kiara. You know she's bound to run off" Simba said. "Just like you, when you were a cub" I said with a smirk. "Hey watch it!" Simba said as he playfully pushed me. I laughed. "Don't worry, Simba. We're on her like stink on a warthog" Timon said. "Hey!" Pumbaa said, Offended. "It's a hard truth Pumbaa, live with it" Timon said.

"Guys I'm counting on you. Danger could be lurking behind every rock" Simba said. "Ah!" Timon said, with interest. Timon and Pumbaa then left pride rock. "Could you watch her too, Aunt Lana?" Simba said. "Aw come on Simba, your just paranoid" I said as I playfully nudged him. "But yeah, I can watch her" I said. "Thanks, just make sure she doesn't get hurt. "Don't worry too much, she'll be fine" I said with a smile. I then left pride rock to go follow Timon and Pumbaa.

I then saw Kiara, sitting on a rock, looking at the outlands. I was a bit worried, but she was just looking so it should be fine. I then heard some noises, Kiara heard too so she looked behind her, and screamed. "Kiara!" I cried. I was worried it was some predator, but it was only Timon and Pumbaa. Kiara, Timon, and Pumbaa kept screaming. Kiara fell into the watering hole. "Don't worry Kiara, Uncle Pumbaa's coming!" Pumbaa said.

Pumbaa then jumped off the rock and into the watering hole. Shit, I thought he sat on top of Kiara. Simba's gonna be pissed. "Oh uh, lets see...Gee Simba, the good news is we found your daughter, the bad news is we dropped a warthog on her. Is there a problem with that?" Timon said.

Pumbaa then came out from the water. "Kiara! Kiara?" Pumbaa called. "Pumbaa! Let me define 'Babysitting'!" Timon yelled. Kiara then struggled to reach the surface. Kiara gave Pumbaa an annoyed look. "Sorry" Pumbaa said. "Now princess Kiara, as Simba's daughter, you know better then to go off all alone. you could have been hurt" Pumbaa said.

"But?" Kiara said. "Hurt!" Timon cried. "Simba would kill us! you didn't slip a disk, did you?" Timon said. "But" Kiara said again. "Catch a fever, get a hangnail?" Timon said. "Timon..." Kiara whined. "I had one once" Pumbaa said. "Very painful" Timon said. "Exertiating" Pumbaa said. Timon then put a leaf over Kiara's head. "Darling, with your complication, you should stay out of the sun" Timon said. Kiara angrily slapped the leaf away with her paw.

"What? Do you want a wrinkel" Timon said. "Would somebody please just listen to me?!" Kiara said with annoyance. "I'm sorry, I wasn't listening. Did you say something, princess?" Timon said. "I'm not just a princess, you know. That's only half of who I am" Kiara said. "Oh, who's the other half?" Kiara said. "Uh, well, I..." Kiara stuttered. "Well, while you're figuring it out, let's eat!" Timon said. Timon snapped his fingers and Pumbaa lifted up a log revealing bugs.

"Grubs!" Timon said. "The other white meat!" Pumbaa said. "And so high in protien" Timon said. "Eww, gross" Kiara said. "No? How about you big boy?" Timon said. "Love grubs" Pumbaa said. "Not like" Timon said. "Love" Timon and Pumbaa said at the same time. Pumbaa then ate a bug. Pumbaa spits out the bug in mid-chew. Timon got annoyed. "Oh, you always do that! you take a bite out of everyone, and then you put it back! it drives me crazy" Timon said.

"But you can't tell from the outside which are the real slimy ones" Pumbaa said. "Slimy? It's the crunchy ones that make the meal" Timon said. "Slimy" Pumbaa said. "Crunchy" Timon said. As Timon and Pumbaa kept arguing, Kiara snuck off. "Kiara!" I called.

I ran after Kiara.
