Chapter 27: Banished

I continued running and running. When I finally got to the pride lands, I saw all the animals gathered around pride rock. Animals murmured and whispered to one another I was walking towards pride rock. I saw Kovu also surrounded by the animals. "It's Kovu" I heard an animal whisper. People gasped when they heard that. They also gasped when they saw me. I think they know I was missing.

As I climbed up the steps to pride rock, I saw the whole pride gathered around. Nala ran up to hug me, and I hugged her back. "Lana" Nala said with happiness and relief. "Hi Nala, I'm here" I said. I then looked at Simba who was lying weak on the ground. "Simba!" I cried and Nala and I ran up to him. "Daddy, it can't be true" Kiara said. Nala helped Simba wake up. His eyes widened when he saw me.

"Aunt Lana?" Simba said. "What happened, how did you escape?" Simba asked me. "I was able to escape after you got attacked. I don't think Kovu was a part of this because he said to Zira that he didn't want to be a part of the attacks" I said. "Well, I think he was" Simba snapped. When Simba stood up, Kiara cried excitedly. "Kovu!" She shouted as she ran up to him. Simba ran up to Kiara and growled at her.

"Simba" I said with a bit of anger in my voice. "Why I oughta, let me at him, let me at him" Timon said. "Here, hold me back" Timon said as he held his tail to Pumbaa. "Let me at him, let me at him" Timon said. "Okay" Pumbaa said. "I think you're missing the basic point here" Timon said.

Simba then looked at Kovu with anger in his eyes. "Why have you come back? And why have you and the rest of the outlanders kidnapped my Aunt?" Simba said. "Simba, I have nothing to do with..." Kovu started but Simba cut him off. "You don't belong here" Simba said. "Simba, he had nothing to do with my kidnapping" I said. "Silence!" Simba roared at me. I sighed. I wanted Simba to believe that Kovu had nothing to do with kidnapping me or the attacks.

"Please, I ask for forgivness" Kovu said. "Daddy, please. Listen to him" Kiara said. "Silence! When you first came here you asked for judgment. And I pass it now!" Simba shouted. People were yelling angrily, and Kiara was breathing heavily. I put a hand on her shoulder to comfort her. Hopefully, Simba doesn't do what he is about to do. "EXILE!" Simba roared. "NO!" Kiara and I yelled at the same time.

The animals begin signing as Kovu was running out of the pride lands.

(One of us)

Deception Disgrace
Evil as plain as the scar on his face

Deception (An outrage!)
Disgrace (For shame!)
He asked for trouble the moment he came

Deception (An outrage!)
(He can't change his stripes)
Disgrace (For shame!)
(You know these Outsider types)
Evil as plain as the scar on his face
(See you later, agitator!)
Deception (An outrage!)
(Just leave us alone!)
Disgrace (For shame!)
(Traitor, go back with your own!)
He asked for trouble the moment he came
(See you later, agitator!)

Born in grief
Raised in hate
Helpless to defy his fate
Let him run
Let him live
But do not forget what we cannot forgive

And he is not one of us
He has never been one of us
He is not part of us
Not our kind

Someone once lied to us
Now we're not so blind
For we knew he would do what he's done
And we know that he'll never be one of us
He is not one of us

Deception
Disgrace

When Kovu has left the pride lands I felt angry. I felt angry at Simba that he didn't listen to me and Kiara as we were trying to tell Simba that Kovu was innocent and we were not a part of the attacks. "Father, please reconcider" Kiara said. "You will not go anywhere without an escort from now on. The same goes for you too Aunt Lana" Simba said. "But Simba I..." I started but Simba cut me off. "No, No but's Aunt Lana.

I don't wanna lose you again as I did during the fire a few days ago" Simba said in a firm tone. I sighed and I put my head down. "No, that's not..." Kiara said but Simba cut her off also. "He used you to get to me" Simba said. "No! He loves me, for me" Kiara said. "Because you are my daughter! You will not leave pride rock! You will stay where I can keep an eye on you, away from him" Simba said.

"You don't know him" Kiara said. "I know he's following in Scar's pawprints. And I must follow in my father's" Simba said. "You will never be Mufasa!" Kiara shouted. With that, Kiara ran into the cave, crying. I felt bad for my granddaughter right now. "Wow Simba, just wow. Are you happy with yourself now?!

You made your daughter cry because you wouldn't listen to her! hell, you wouldn't listen to me either!" I shouted. "I know what is best for the pride, Aunt Lana. And I know what is best for both you and my daughter and the best thing right now would be to not go and see him again" Simba said. "You and Kiara will stay inside of pride rock from now on, away from the outlands and away from him" Simba said.

"But I am queen of the pride lands too! and your not my mom and dad so you can't tell me what to do!" I shouted. "I am the king here too so you must obey me!" Simba shouted. "This isn't fair!" I yelled. "Well, sometimes life isn't fair" Simba said. "Kiara's right, you will never be Mufasa!" I shouted. With that, I ran into my room and cried.

I don't know why Simba is acting like this right now. I just wished Simba would come around and realize that Kovu is innocent because Kovu did help me some. I decided to go look for my granddaughter Kiara, to go and check on her. As I walked inside the cave I saw that she was not there. I worried for a minute but then I realized she went off to go find Kovu. I looked around and made sure Simba wasn't watching me.

When I was sure that the coast was clear, I pushed some rocks and ran out of the cave as fast as I could. When I was far enough away from the pride rock, I searched for Kiara and Kovu. At last, I found them, on some hills in a meadow. "Kiara, Kovu!" I called as I ran up to them. They looked at me with surprise. "Grandma, what are you doing here?" Kiara said. "I was looking for you and I wanted to check and make sure you are okay" I said.

"Yeah, I'm fine now that I found Kovu" Kiara said. "That's good" I said with a smile. "Hey look. We are one" Kovu said as he leaned his head against Kiara's. "What?" Kiara said. "Let's get out of here. We'll run away together. and start a pride all our own" Kovu said with a smile. "Kovu, we have to go back" Kiara said.

"Your kidding. but we're finally together" Kovu said. "Our place is with our pride. If we run away, they will be divided forever" Kiara said. "Kiara's right Kovu, we have to go back" I said. "But I'm banished, remember?" Kovu said. "Unless I could come and help, Simba would let me back in" Kovu said. I nodded. "Let's go back and find the others" I said.

We then left to go and find the rest of the pride.
