"Are you sure about this?" Lucas heard Thor ask him while his eyes can't move from Maya making out with her new boyfriend.

"Do I have more options?" Lucas asks while he saw her disappear around a corner.

"You actually have a lot of options," He heard, making him turn back, only to see a pretty brunette grabbing Thor's hand.

"Not a masochist Nikki," Lucas says and give them a sad smile.

"You know I didn't mean that," Nikki says with a soft laugh, making Thor smile.

"You know I didn't say it in a kinky way," Lucas reply.

"Still, join us tonight?" Thor asks him.

"Francesca will join us tonight," Nikki adds with a flirtatious tone.

"Then, should I leave you all 3 alone?" Lucas asks with the same flirtatious tone.

"Shut up," Niki says while she softly punches Lucas in his shoulder.

"I can see envy Friar," Thor says with an arrogant smile.

Lucas started to walk out the campus, "Let me check, you have two gorgeous girls to yourself, you had several threesomes with them, on several occasions, you can love them both, and they both love you," He adds while he gets away from two-thirds of one of the most messed up and happy triangles he ever saw, "Of course I envy you, just don't be an asshole and stop rubbing on my face," He says without looking back at them but hearing clearly how both of them laughs.

A few days later, Lucas was still debating himself about doing the right thing when he was interrupted by a familiar voice.

"If you're looking for Farkle, his spring break starts in two days, and probably will be here in three days," Lucas heard Stuart Minkus tell him while walks back to his apartment, carrying 2 cups of coffee and a bag of mini donuts.

Lucas laughs a bit and smiles at him, "I'm not looking for Farkle, Sir, I'm looking for," Lucas started.

"Me," the older Minkus interrupt him, "I know," he adds with a fatherly smile, "Farkle call me a few weeks ago, he told me what's on your mind, and I just did the math," he says while he let his apartment door check his retina.

The door automatically opens while Lucas can hear a softly, "welcome home, Mr. Minkus," coming from the door.

"So, you knew I will show here someday?" Lucas asks while Stuart puts the two coffees on his coffee table.

"Yes," He answers like it was the most normal think on the world, "Take a seat, the mocha is the one who has Lucas written on the side, the donuts are for you," He says while he takes off his jacket and walks inside his house.

Lucas was kinda shocked, but on the other hand, Farkle could also do that, and this is Stuart Minkus, after all.

.

A few minutes later, Stuart came back with three folders in his hand.

He takes a sit in front of Lucas, leaving the folders next to him on the couch, "So, Cornell wasn't enough for you?" He asks.

At that moment, Lucas finally understands everything, "I've never been in control, right?" Lucas asks with a sad smile on his face.

"For a few moments, you were, but no, or at least not all the time," Minkus says, only to laugh a little, "So, Maya Hunter," he adds, not asking, telling him.

"Farkle told you that?" He asks, thinking that maybe telling those things to the younger Minkus was a mistake.

"As I told you, Farkle told me a general plot, and I just did the math," Stuart says and grab the folders and give them to Lucas, "You've been a good friend to Farkle, and even when we know you are not here to ask something," He says.

At the same time, Lucas opens the folders, and his eyes open really wide in surprise.

"I think this is the less I can do for my son's best friend," he adds.

"How?" Lucas asks.

"I had Mark Cuban for 1 hour, only to teach you kids about money, I think that proves I'm a very resourceful guy," He says, making Lucas laugh, "All of this? A piece of cake," He adds, laughing a little.

Lucas laughs with him, but a strict silence lay between them as soon as their laughs die.

"Lucas, you're a good kid," Stuart says. At the same time, he looks at him, "and being heartbroken can be a really shitty situation," He adds, surprising the Texan, "But you can't let that affect your performance at the vet program," He adds before looking at the folders on the coffee table, "Here are the three best Colleges that can help you become a veterinarian," He adds, giving Lucas a lot to think, "You can stay at Cornell, which is a great option to become a veterinary, or you can pick a new college, and have a fresh start," The older Minkus says, "Just remember to pay Farkle a visit time to time," He adds.

"I didn't expect this, Mr. Minkus," Lucas says while looking at his new three options, taking special attention to the one with the black, white, and purple logo, "Can I have some time to think about it? "He asks.

Stuart only gives him a warm smile and put a hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry, you have at least four months to think about it. They all start classes in August," He says, making Lucas smile.

.

.

Looking at his watch, Lucas notices how late he was for bowling with his friends, and as soon as he notices, his phone started to ring.

"Go for Lucas," He answers.

"Lucas, where are you?" A feminine voice says from her phone.

"Hey Lucas, how are you? Oh, I'm fine, I'm fine, how about you, Francesca? I'm glad to hear that," Lucas said in his most sarcastic tone, "I'm a bit late, but I will be there in like ten minutes," He answers while he walks through the cold streets of New York.

"Can you wait for me? Also, can you be a little less asshole? I'm twenty minutes from the bowling alley and arriving alone, it's not gonna make it better for me," He hears, feeling a smile form on his face.

"Sure, no problem," He answers.

"Thanks, you're an asshole Angel," the feminine voice says before the call end.

Lucas looks around and notices that he was utterly alone. He rests a bit against a wall and opens his bag, only to see the three folders Stuart Minkus gives to him.

Next to the folders was what he was really looking for. He grabs a little cardboard box and a lighter. He pulls a Marlboro and softly light it.

He takes a deep breath and let the smoke fill his lungs, giving him a little moment of peace. Eight minutes and two cigarettes later, he sees a blonde girl running to him.

"That took you less than I expected," Lucas says, looking at the blonde girl pant.

"Don't be an asshole," She tries to say with a straight face, but her heavy breathing doesn't help.

"Getting you a smoothie when we get to the bowling alley will allow me to be an asshole a bit more?" Lucas asks.

"That gets you like ten minutes," She says with her breathing in a more normal state.

"I'm moving," He confesses to her.

"I know," She reveals with a sad smirk on her face, "Give me one, we need this while we talk about this," She says, and Lucas just gave her a cigarette.

"You're the first one," Lucas says, copying her sad smile.

"Flattered," She says while she lights the cigarette, "Where are you going?" She asks him while they both walk towards the bowling alley.

"No idea," Lucas confesses, "The only thing I know for sure is that I have to go," He says, feeling a solitary tear down his left cheek.

"You really love her," She says.

"Head to toes," Lucas says while he can see Thor and Nikki on the entrance, waiting for them.

.

After her friends decide it was too much loss, and Lucas decide that having almost 12 strikes was enough for him, they finally called the night. Sadly, for Lucas, that doesn't really help his situation, and that night he was barely able to sleep.

He gets up and looks around his room. He picks up all three folders Stuart Minkus gave him and did all the research he can do about the vet programs he can get.

And more than one time, it crosses his head, staying at Cornell.

It's not that he doesn't like the place. In fact, he even chooses Cornell over ATM.

Then he remembers the truth, he didn't choose Cornell. Maya chooses Cornell. He just followed her.

Riley went to Harvard.

Farkle and Smackle went to Princeton.

Even Zay left NY and went to Berkeley.

But not him, no sir, he just decides to follow Maya to Cornell. And it's not like that is a poor choice, Cornell has one of the best vet programs in the country, but to him, it only makes it looks like he only picks Cornell because he is in love with Maya and he wasn't ready to put his future over a chance of a relationship.

Because that's why he stays, because of a chance.

Lucas spends the following 2 months avoiding everybody except for Francesca, Nikki, Thor, and Farkle.

He also takes advantage of his low grades to get himself a credible way to avoid Maya.

Or everyone, for that matter.

But everything changes one morning when he was really studying for a test, she came into his apartment like a tornado.

"Why have you been avoiding me?" Maya asks him while he takes a sip of cold coffee from his mug.

"What makes you think I've been avoiding you?" Lucas answers in the calmest and fakest tone he has.

"I've only been with you in two parties, and that was thanks to Nikki, who called me to invite me too," Maya answer.

Just for himself, deep down in his mind, Lucas curses Nikki, "I'm not avoiding you shortstack. I've been studying as you can see," He says while he points at all the papers on his coffee table.

She sits next to him and let her head rest on his shoulder.

And Lucas felt how his will was crumbling.

"Then why it looks like you're avoiding me?" She asks with a sad tone in her voice.

"Because we used to spend a lot of time together, Maya," Lucas answers, "And now, we don't," He adds, making her look at him, "It happens, I miss Zay and Farkle," He continues while Maya gets up and walk to his fridge.

"But you didn't have problems a few months ago," She tried to get an answer from him.

Lucas looks at her, and for a second, his will of keeping his move frail, but then he recovers his posture. He could not tell her about him moving, "Maya, I really need to pass this final, please don't be selfish," He says more to himself than to her.

"I'm sorry I annoyed you with my friendship," Maya says, trying to get something from Lucas.

But he refuses to give her something, "Thank you, now if you excuse me, I'm gonna continue," He says, trying to pay attention to his papers. And he really tried to do that, but he failed miserably, "If I take you out for tacos, will you let me study till I finish my final?" He asks her, letting her immediately smile blinds him for a second.

"You got yourself a deal Huckleberry," She says.

.

3 Hours later, Lucas throws himself into his couch. It was a fun afternoon with Maya until she decided to invite her boyfriend, forcing him to fake his liking.

No cold shoulder, being nice to him, but inside, it felt like torture.

He grabs his phone and looks a contact on the letter F, "Hey," He says while he pulls a cigarette from the tiny box on his shirt pocket.

"Tired?" She asks.

"You have no idea," Lucas answers back, taking a long breath into the cigarette.

"Oh, we know, we saw you with the happy couple," He hears Thor.

"Hello Thor," He says to him, then he takes another breath, "Pathetic, don't you think? "He asks her while he gets up from the couch and walks to his room.

"To me was very brave," Francesca says to him.

"Ballsy, but pathetic," Thor confirms.

"I hope you like fish and chips," Lucas says to them.

"Why?"Francesca asks.

And then she did the math.

"Oh my God, you're moving to London," She says, surprising Thor and even Lucas.

A few weeks from that call, Francesca, Nikki, and Thor decide to give him a nice little present for his travel. Nothing kinky, just a small farewell party.

Of course, due to his reason to leave it wasn't with all of his friends.

Just them, Farkle and Zay.

So, when they were in the middle of some drinks, it was no surprise when he feels beer over his face and heat over his left cheek.

He didn't have to open his eyes to know who it was.

"Maya," Lucas says while he cleans his face with some paper towels.

"So, we've been replaced? Just like that, you just forget about us?" Maya interrogates him.

"And Riley," Lucas adds, knowing the brunette will be there too.

"Hi Lucas," She says in her usual shy tone.

"Yeah, that wasn't enough," Maya says and throws over him another beer.

"Ok," Lucas says and cleans his face with his wet shirt, "Do I still have clothes here?" He asks.

"You still have clothes here," Francesca answer, making Maya fury levels go Armageddon level.

Lucas decides to go to Francesca's room to change his clothes, but Maya followed him.

He gets into the older blonde room, and Maya gets in seconds later.

And after the door slams the mark, everyone downstairs gets nervous, in complete silence, an awkward, deep, and weird silence.

Lucas takes off his shirt, which makes Maya's fury decrease slightly, but she couldn't avoid the blush when he takes his pants.

After a few minutes of looking, Lucas was wearing an old flannel shirt and gym pants.

"Why?" Maya asks, not even looking at him.

"Why what?" He asks back.

"All of them," She answers.

"Several logical reasons," He says while he sits on Francesca's bed.

They spend several minutes in silence, not even looking at each other.

Then Maya decides to break the silence again, "Why didn't you tell me about it?" She asks while she looks at him for the first time.

And he saw a deep sadness on her eyes that really breaks his heart, "You don't want to know the answer to that question," Lucas answer, avoiding telling her his reasons.

"Try me," She dares him.

"No," He refuses before holding his head with his hand, wishing for this to never happen.

"Please, Lucas," She asks him again, making him break a little.

He bites his lower lip really hard, making himself bleed a bit due to the tension. He gets up and walks to the window, "I," He started, but then he denies again and looks outside the window, "I can't tell you," He adds.

Maya had a sad smile on her face, "Ok, so this is how it ends," She states.

"Ends?" He asks.

"You decide that seven years of friendship weren't enough to tell me about you leaving," She answers, "Oh, sorry, not seven years with Farkle, it was ok to tell him or tell your five-year friends about you leaving," She adds looking at Lucas, who refuses to look at her.

"Maya, it's not like that," He says, still not looking at her.

"Save it, Lucas," She cuts him, unlocking the door, "You just prove me we aren't important to you," She says, opening the door.

But this time, Lucas fastly run to her and lock the door again.

"What are you doing?" Maya asks him while he refuses to free the doorknob.

"Maya, why do you make fun of me?" Lucas asks her.

Maya just looks at him, confused, "Really? Mr. Squirrels against me?" she asks and let a little sarcastic laugh escape, "Because you let me," She answers.

"And why I let you?" Lucas asks again.

"Yeah, I like to know that too," Maya replies.

Lucas locks the door, "Because even in the times I was with Riley, I was totally in love with you, and I'm still in love with you," He confessed to her, making her blush, "And that's why I'm leaving," He adds, making her almost pop her own eyes in surprise.

"You can't put this on me," Maya confronts him.

"Maya, I'm putting this on nobody," He says and looks at her, "I'm leaving because watching you with other men hurt me, can you understand that?" He asks her.

"The only thing I understand is that you're just selfish and a crybaby, you're walking out from us, just because I'm not with you," Maya answers back.

"And don't you think I earn the right to be selfish?" He asks.

"No!"She screams at him, "You don't have the right to be selfish when it comes to us!" She keeps shouting at him.

"Oh, give me a fucking break!" Lucas says back to her, raising his voice, "You lost the privilege to block my selfishness when you send me back to Riley on the Ski Lodge," He argues back before taking a minute to think, "You want me to stay?" He asks.

"Yes, of course, I want that," Maya answer back.

"Then I want you to break up with your boyfriend," Lucas says to her.

"You know I can't do that," She says to him, looking down.

"So, you want me to stay so I can watch you and your boyfriend make out, while I get green with envy because I want to be the one kissing you," He says, giving her a desperate laugh, "Or, better yet, you want me to stay on your couch and listen every time you two have sex?" He asks her.

"You know I will never do that to you," Maya defends herself.

"Don't you dare to lie right into my face," Lucas says to her, "Just leave Maya," He asks her.

"Is that what you want?" She asks back.

"No, but you clearly aren't into me in the same way I'm into you, and just watch you hurt me, and I'm tired of that," He justifies himself, "Maya, I'm tired of loving you," He says.

Maya takes a few minutes to process his words before opening the door and leaving him alone in that room.

"So, I think this is goodbye," Zay says to Lucas.

Lucas just hugs him.

"You know that's not true if I do everything well, I will be back in," He takes a moment to think about it, "Seven years, wow, that's a lot of time," he adds.

"Don't worry, I will ask Santa for a ticket to London," The Babineaux declares while he dries his tears with his shirt.

Soon, Nikki, Thor, and Francesca take their turns.

"You know, you could stay here and date me," Francesca says.

"I appreciate the offer, but I'm not Thor," Lucas says with a sad smile.

"And I'm not Maya," Francesca complements him.

"But trust me, it would be so much easier if you and I would fall for each other," He says, giving her a soft smile.

"Imagine all the time we would have without this drama," The blonde says, laughing a bit.

Lucas starts to look around and saw him in the back, looking around.

"Farkle, she's not coming," He says to the young genius.

"I'm not looking for Maya, what makes you think I'm looking for her," Farkle says while he types a short message to Maya.

"Farkle, there are things that you can't fix, it's that simple," Lucas says, giving him a hug.

"But," Farkle wanted to argue.

"Just leave it, Farkle," He says, making the hug tighter, "I'm gonna miss you, buddy," He adds.

"I'm gonna miss you too," Farkle hugs his best friend back, "Smackle and I will visit you soon," He says.

"I will be waiting," He says with his signature smile.

Finally, his mother hugs him and gives him a list of things to do.

Lucas had a sad smile on his face when he heard the last call to aboard his plane.

"Just leave it all here, Lucas," He says to himself and gets in line to board his plane.
