AUTHOR'S NOTE

Disclaimer: I don't own the characters in this story. Yeah you should probably know that by now.

Hi guys! So this is my first fanfic and also my first attempt at writing a horror story. I've read lots of horror novels that really gave me the chills and here I am hoping you get at least a little scare from my story. Like I said, this is my first fanfic so please go easy on me. Give me your comments please. Libel and rude remarks are equally welcome.

Well this story focuses on the Uchiha family being haunted. There would be a lot of drama, angst and supernatural action (I hope). Initially, I was thinking of making it a Sakusara novel but then I thought a little Sasuke factor wouldn't hurt.

I got my inspiration from Anabelle the movie because I could see a Sakusara possibility in there but rest assured, it is not a spoiler for those who have not watched the movie and the movie isn't a spoiler to you guys that are yet to read my story. To be honest, I did not really watch the movie, instead I heard the storyline from my brother and also read it from the net. I read horror novel and hardly watch them :)

I hope you enjoy it. Comment and vote please. I don't have much friends, but that can change over time.

May the reading begin!!

Toodles...

PROLOGUE

What a stressful day it had been! The pregnant woman who was expecting the arrival of her baby girl, hopefully in the next four months, exclaimed. Her aunt and family doctor, Dr. Tsunade, had announced that the baby was due early April.

She laid on the bed she shared with her husband, thinking about the baby shower that had ended an hour ago. Lots of friends had visited and brought gifts for the unborn baby. It had been fun, of course. All the items brought; toys, clothes, shoes and other babycare stuffs, where placed in the nursery. All that was left was the arrival of the rightful owner of the room.

The fun and merriment eventually came to an end that evening and the couple decided to chase everyone to their respective houses. Now, Sakura laid on her bed while waiting for her husband- who was taking his shower- to join her.

And all this waiting was making her hungry!

The sound of the running shower died down, indicating that Sasuke had finished his task of getting cleaned up. Notwithstanding, her enlarged belly cried for food. Gently, she climbed down the bed, holding her stomach in the process like it would drop if she didn't. Soon, Sasuke emerged from the bathroom, clad in a short white towel round his torso. In his hand was another towel which he used to dab wet, silky dark hair.

Obsidian eyes pinned her moving form, curious to know what she was up to. "What's wrong?"

Sakura spared him a quick glance. "Oh it's nothing. I'm just hungry." Quickly she put on her slippers, "I think I'll go eat the remaining dumplings in the fridge."

Slowly, she made her way to the kitchen. The penthouse, already dark and chilly because they had locked up for the night, was luxurious and offered a great view of Konoha. So much so, she found herself being drawn to the view whenever she stood in her sitting room. Tonight was one of such moments she'd been enthralled at the magnificent sight of this country at night.

But she had a more urgent matter to attend to.

Food.

Trudging heavy feet to the kitchen, she took out the leftover dumplings from the fridge but made no effort to reheat it. She wasn't always a fan of hot meals and her food wasn't all that cold either, so she started munching while moving to the sitting room to enjoy the view while she was at it.

When she was done, she washed her plates, switched off the lights and went upstairs.

Just as she was about to open the door to her room, emerald eyes noticed something amiss. Dazedly, she wondered,

Didn't I lock that door?

If there was something Sakura Uchiha could undoubtedly boast of, it was the fact that she was and always is an organised person. One with a photographic memory. She had in fact locked that door.

At the end of the hallway, the wooden door to Sarada's room was standing ajar and something that seemed like a transient bright light beamed in the room, reflecting very faintly into the hallway.

Goosepimples pricked her skin instantly. Why wouldn't it be disconcerting?! Everywhere was faintly lit- or simply put- everywhere was dark. Her emerald eyes, so feline in appearance and nature could see clearly in the faint dark. Another quality she could boast of! But what was this feeling she was getting? Suddenly, she was of the mind to either enter her room and go to sleep or get her husband to confirm if she was really seeing what she was seeing and not hallucinating.

But her body seemed to have disobeyed her brain and decided to carry itself to the peered room. Very slowly, she took steady steps towards the door, one hand on her belly and the other on the wall, searching in the dark for direction while she trudged down the hallway. She walked with caution, as if she was approaching an untamed wild animal.

Or is it Sasuke?

She considered that possibility before her derailing thoughts flushed it down the drain. No. This illumination appeared to be static and a different shade from the light installed in the study. It looked orange, like fire. Yes, like fire, without smoke. The light was raving, changing in colour and intensity with each second Sakura advanced towards it.

Her heart lodged in her throat when her legs were close to eliminating the gap between herself and the room.

Before her brain could give a proper command, her right hand, with a mind of its own, held the doorknob and pulled the door very slowly. She peered into the room, not knowing what to do, and saw that the light was actually reflecting from outside the penthouse. However, the unearthed knowledge did little to quell the rising turbulence within her. It was coming from outside.

'But the whole of Konoha is downhill from here and no other tall building lay beside this one,' she thought, trying to make sense of what she was seeing.

Surely her pineapple juice wasn't spiked during the baby shower, was it? Or was she dreaming? Because it must be one active, really active, dream she must be caught up in.

Her eyes scanned the room as she sorted her senseless disposition in her mind. Sarada's toys were all here. What the hell was I expecting?!

Immediately, the light shooting from the window shimmered into nothingness, plunging her into darkness. It wasn't complete darkness though, since the illuminated parts of downtown Konoha lit up the night. In her mindless wander, she felt a pair of wide eyes on her. Stumbling a bit at the sudden paranoia, her left hand instinctively shot to the wall behind for balance, her right hand not leaving her protruding belly.

The nerves in her body were sending mixed signals to her brain, her limbs shockingly felt limp, unable to bear her weight anymore. Biting down the bile rising in her throat, Sakura fought to leave the room, to turn on her heels and run out of the damned room. But to her surprise, and mounting horror, she discovered she could not move. Gravity held her down.

Her eyes, wide and frantic looked around her. Cold beads of sweat were suddenly rolling down her face and neck.

What was happening?

Once again, she tried to move, only to be hit by a fresh wave of vertigo and nausea. If not for the hand on the wall that supported her frame, she was sure she would've been on the floor already.

Regaining from the last bout of vertigo, she shifted in her stance, finally free to move her muscle. But her eyes were clouded in the dark room. Her heartbeat which was once erratic, dulled, but her limbs remained weak and her back ached. Then all of a sudden, a light pressure she never knew was placed on her head, left her, eased off her like leaking gas, leaving the feels of feather-light space in her head, just above her eyes.

What's happening?

What am I doing here?

She took in her surrounding once more, unsure of what her previous inner commotion was about. She felt awake... sort of. Like she had been in a trance. Like she had been lost in subconscious thinking.

What was that?

Numbly, she tried to recall her earlier sensation and the events that prompted it when something clamped on her shoulder. Startled, a yelp, sharp and short, escaped her throat as her left hand reacted by swiping-harshly- at the object on her shoulder.

"Hey calm down. It's me." She recognised the voice instantly. Sasuke.

"Why did you do that?! You scared Sarada and I to death!!" Sakura exclaimed, slightly above normal tune, holding a hand to her chest to control her breathing. She could literally feel her heart pumping a hundred times per second.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I saw you walk in here and I called you but you seemed dazed or something." Sasuke explained as he patted her on the shoulder, squinting a little in the nearly-dark room. "What are you doing here?"

Sakura, still out of it, rubbed at her aching heart, willing it to still its frenzy. Her eyes were in space, maybe she was trying to feel her pounding heart or read the baby's.

When he did not get an answer, he sighed. "Come on, let's get you to bed. All the excitement today must've really tired you out."

With that said, he beckoned her to their room and closed the door to the nursery behind them. As the wooden beam neared its framed to be shut, Sakura spared it one last glance before allowing Sasuke lead her to their bedroom.

Everything seemed fine but she did not fail to notice that ominous feeling that washed over her, the minute she peered into the nursery. Or the way something within her was shocked into life. The way her mind felt heavy one minute and free the next.

However, that worry would be for another day. Right now, her body ached.

Letting those thoughts melt into nothingness, she welcomed sleep in her husband's arms.

Unknown to them, in the cold and peaceful blanket of darkness in Sarada's future room, a pair of bright red eyes opens. It had seen its new prey/host/playmate... it didn't know.

A light and silent chuckle emits from inside the creature. 'Soon it will be time, soon it will strike and soon it will get what it wants.' It thought.

Let the fun begin.
