A friend asked me to do a reveal about Jubal pulling Maggie close or blocking her from the others in the JOC when she gets upset about something and this is what happened when I started writing it.
I have a lot of requests for a reveal including Rina and one to Include Jubal's sister. I am hoping to work on these soon.
Maggie was sitting on their couch at home when she saw her sister's name appear on her phone so she answered the call immediately.
"Hey Mel, I wasn't expecting a call from you, everything okay?."
Mel sniffled as she was trying to dry her tears "Not really no, everyone is okay. We thought Erin was staying with a friend for a few days, but she was off with a new guy she has been dating, they were both found passed out high this morning. The guy had overdosed, but he's alive, Erin is still in hospital but she's okay Mags."
Maggie couldn't believe what she was hearing they thought that Erin was doing really well with her recovery "I'll tell work I need time off, I'll get the next flight to Indiana. She's really okay though, well I mean clearly she needs help but you know physically she's okay?."
Jubal had been in the kitchen making them dinner when he heard Maggie say about the flight and ask if someone was really okay, he made sure everything was safe before he came over sitting down beside her on the couch. She reached out taking his hand straight away holding on tight to it as she was fighting tears in her eyes.
"Mags you don't need to come, honestly. Mum and dad wanted me to tell you what was going on but as soon as Erin get's discharged she's going straight in to rehab so you wouldn't even be able to see her. She's okay, she was a little dehydrated and they want to keep her in until everything is out of her system. I promise if you needed to be here I would tell you."
"I'll come when she get towards the end of her rehab and we are allowed to see her, times like this I really hate being so far away from you guys." Maggie closed her eyes as Jubal pulled her closer to him wrapping his arms around her holding her close to him, when he heard Maggie mention rehab he knew it was about her sister Erin. Maggie had told him all about Erin's car accident when she was at high school and how her addiction had started with pain killers but gotten much worse when the pain killers no longer were enough. "What the hell was her friend thinking covering for her?."
"Her friend honestly had no idea Mags, Erin had told her that she was dating this guy called Mark, who we all thought she was dating, he's a great kid. But turns out she was really dating a guy called Charlie and well he's the kind of guy that you and Jubal are likely to stumble across on a case. Michelle is blaming herself that she covered for Erin, but she thought that Mark and Erin were taking a few days away together in his parents summer house."
"Sounds like this Charlie guy is someone that I should maybe look in to, to make sure he never comes near Erin ever again. He does realise she comes from a family of cops right? I know that this is a stupid question but how are mum and dad holding up?." Maggie leaned more in to Jubal's embrace thankful that she had him there with her or she knew that she would be falling apart right now.
"The shape Charlie is in right now he's not saying or doing anything. Dad is staying strong for mum, they are blaming themselves thinking they missed signs that she was struggling. I am going to send them home to try and get some sleep, I'll stay here with Erin."
"This isn't their fault, we know how good Erin was at hiding it the last time, but I know they will just blame themselves no matter what. Keep me posted on how things are okay? And if you guys need me there even just to keep you company just let me know okay, we can figure something out with work. I love you Mel, pass on my love to everyone."
"I will keep you posted and I will let you know I promise. We love you too Mags, say hi to Jubal and I'm sorry for dropping such a call on you."
Maggie and her sister said goodbye after another minute or two and Maggie closed her eyes resting against Jubal, moving her hand to his chest letting her hand rest over his heart. "Erin was found passed out high this morning lying beside her boyfriend who had overdosed, they got to him in time and Erin is okay. She's dehydrated and they want to keep her until everything is out of her system. Mel said that they are moving her from the hospital straight to the rehab so there is no point me going there as I wouldn't even be able to see her."
Jubal was running his hand along Maggie's back slowly keeping her so close to him, he kissed the top of her head "I know every part of you wants to head to Indiana straight away baby but your sister is right, there is nothing you can do right now. Erin will need you when she's ready to leave rehab, and I'm guessing we are running a check on the boyfriend who I'm guessing from your end of the call is called Charlie?."
"My family and Erin's best friend thought that she was dating this guy called Mark but turns out she was really dating Charlie. Mel didn't say much about him just that he was the kind of guy we would stumble upon on one of our cases and that right now he isn't saying or doing anything the shape he is in. I just feel so useless being so far away from them right now."
"Baby Mel would tell you if they needed you there, you know that she would be honest with you. Even if it was to keep her or your parents company, if things change and they need you there Mel will tell you. You also know that Mel will be honest with you about everything that is going on. Mel knows that you are always only a text or call away and I would sort out work for you, so if Mel calls for you to go, you can leave and I'll take care of everything."
"I know.. You're right it just feels like I should be doing more even though I know there isn't anything else I could be doing." Maggie pulled her head back a little so that she could see Jubal and she lifted her hand from his heart to rest it on his cheek, "Thank you for knowing that I needed you to come sit with me babe, I couldn't believe what Mel was telling me."
"You never have to thank me baby you know that I will always be there for you no matter what." Jubal leaned down kissing Maggie slowly, softly and yet with so much love as he held her as close to him as possible. They had to break the kiss when he heard his phone ringing "Sorry baby that's Isobel." He answered the phone listening to Isobel "Okay, Mags and I should be there in less than fifteen minutes." Jubal hung up setting his phone on the arm of the couch.
"We have a case don't we?."
"We do baby, and Isobel needs us all in. I'm really sorry, if it get's too much work just find me and we will take a few minutes up on the roof okay? You aren't alone, I will still be right there with you."
"You don't have to apologise, I know it's not your fault, but thank you for reminding me that I'm not alone in any of this, I know that I have you to lean on. Dinner smelt so good too."
"If you want to go get ready baby, I can pack dinner and bring it in with us and we can eat it at work. It's not the same but we both need to eat."
"You saying I can't go to work in my shorts and your hoodie?." She raised her eyebrow playfully, she was trying hard to pull herself together to be ready to face work. "See? Where would I be without you making sure that I eat."
"As much as I love seeing you in my hoodie baby, that is one way of making sure that I get no work done whatsoever, you know my focus would be on you the whole time." Jubal smirked as he leaned in kissing Maggie softly "I will always look after you in any way possible Mags."
"I really am so dam lucky to have you Jubal." She whispered against his lips as she stole one more kiss before reluctantly standing up and heading upstairs to get changed.
When Maggie came back down Jubal had dinner packed up and he quickly ran upstairs to change out of his shorts and T-shirt into his shirt and trousers before they left heading into work. The whole journey in Jubal had kept Maggie's hand in his free hand, he knew she wanted and needed the physical contact right now and he was more than okay with that. He wanted to do anything that he could to help Maggie, he knew how close she was to her family so he knew she was really struggling right now.
They had to part ways in the elevator so that they got used to the no contact in the JOC, the only person that knew at work that they were dating and living together was Isobel. Jubal reminded Maggie that he loved her and that he would be right there with her if she needed him before he headed in to Isobel's office to get briefed on the case. Listening to Isobel Jubal knew that Maggie was going to really struggle with this.
Isobel and Jubal came out to the top of the JOC, he wanted to go and take Maggie aside and give her a heads up but he knew that he couldn't. She was sitting at the top of the JOC, OA, Stuart and Tiffany were standing a few feet behind her resting against a desk there. Kristen was sitting to the side beside Ian so Maggie was sitting with an empty seat either side of her.
Isobel called for the attention of the JOC "We have a twenty year old female victim, she was found dead due to an overdose, her boyfriend was lying passed out beside her but is still alive. This is the third female victim to die as a result of an overdose with her boyfriend passed out beside her. The first two were found to have the exact same drug in their system, so we think that these girls are being targeted. We need to speak to the boyfriends of the first two victims, find out what they remember."
The whole time that Isobel was talking Jubal had been focused on Maggie, the victims were the same age as Erin, he knew that both Erin and her boyfriend were alive but he knew this was hitting too close to home for Maggie. She hadn't really had time to deal with and process the call from Mel and now it was being brought up for her at work, he could see the tears in Maggie's eyes and her breathing starting to get a little heavier.
Maggie couldn't believe this, all she could see when she looked at that screen was Erin, that could have been her sister tonight if they hadn't got to her in time. She was so caught up in her thoughts and trying so hard to breath that she hadn't heard OA.
"Maggie you ready to go, we are going to speak to the first victims boyfriend. Tiff and Stuey are going to question the second victims boyfriend as the latest boyfriend is still unconscious at hospital." OA was looking at the back of Maggie's head as she was staring at the screen, but she hadn't responded to him, "Maggie?." He put his hand on her shoulder and she flinched at the contact, her breathing a little heavier could be heard by OA.
Jubal noticed straight away and stepped around the desk and he sat down on the chair beside Maggie as OA took a step back to stand beside Tiffany and Stuey again, unsure as to what was going on, he had never seen Maggie like his before. Jubal turned Maggie's chair to face him.
"Hey, I need you to focus on me and try to slow your breathing down a little." He was keeping his voice low and soft speaking to Maggie, he knew she was close to having a panic attack he had been through this before with her when she returned from her undercover assignment.
"Erin…. That could be Erin…" Maggie was trying hard to get her words out, she was trying to calm her breathing and focus on Jubal, but all she could think about was her sister and how she could have easily overdosed last night or this morning before being found.
Jubal had to ignore everyone else in the JOC and just focus on Maggie, he was thankful that their chairs had wheels as he pulled Maggie's chair closer to him so that she was sitting between his legs. He took her hands in his squeezing them gently.
"I know this is really close to home for you right now, but it's not Erin, she's safe, she's with Mel and your parents. She's alive Mags."
OA, Stuey and Tiffany along with Kristen and Ian who was now standing beside them couldn't take their eye's off Maggie and Jubal. They knew that something was clearly going on with their friend and that they should have been focusing on something else, but they couldn't take their eyes off Maggie and their boss. The way that Jubal had pulled her between his legs, he was holding her hands and Maggie hadn't flinched at all.
"What is going on with those two?." OA asked out loud but still quietly so that Maggie and Jubal didn't hear, he wasn't really asking anyone in particular.
"What happened Maggie that she flinched when you touched her shoulder?." Kristen looked at OA before back at Jubal and Maggie.
"I was telling her what tasks we had all taken for the case and she didn't respond so I put my hand on her shoulder and she flinched. I could hear her breathing a little heavier than normal." The worry could be heard in OA's voice.
"Does Maggie suffer from panic attacks?." Stuey looked at OA "My sister has them sometimes, this is kind of how she acts when close to one."
"Not that I'm aware of." OA shook his head as he spoke "What helped your sister? Is there something we can do to help Maggie?."
Stuey shook his head "Only person that can help my sister is her husband, when I am alone with her and she has one I have to call him."
"So who do we call for Maggie?." Kristen asked looking at them.
"I think he's already here." Ian nodded at Jubal and Maggie.
Maggie was still breathing a little heavier, she was trying to focus on Jubal and his voice but she could feel herself slipping further in to the panic. What would she have done if Mel was calling to tell her that Erin had died, that they had been too late.
"I should have had more contact with Erin….. I could have stopped this from happening…" Maggie was talking slowly as she was trying to keep her breathing slow.
Isobel had been out of the JOC after briefing the team and walked back in and noticed straight away the way that Jubal and Maggie were sitting, she walked over to the desk they were at and spoke so only they could hear "Jubal, do you need to take Maggie in to my office?."
Jubal glanced at Isobel and he shook his head softly "Not yet, thank you, but I might in a few minutes, first I have to get Mags calmed and focused before getting her to move." Jubal quickly focused his attention back on Maggie as Isobel stepped back from the desk to give them some privacy, she could see the team standing watching them and she honestly couldn't blame them. They had no idea Maggie and Jubal were dating but it was also clear that they were all worried about Maggie.
Jubal pulled Maggie's chair as close as was possible and he lifted one of her hands and lay it on his chest over his heart. He had come to learn early on in their relationship that when Maggie needed to relax and when she was really stressed she would curl up with him and rest her hand over his heart, it would help calm her. He lay his hand on top of her's on his chest and with his free hand he titled her chin up to look directly in to his eyes.
"Focus on me baby.. You can feel my heart beat right? You can feel my chest rise and fall, breath with that." Jubal was really hoping this worked, he smiled when he felt Maggie starting to slowly breath in time with him "There you go, you're doing great baby."
"Erin's okay?" Maggie kept her eyes completely focused on Jubal, her breathing was now slowly in rhythm with his as her thumb was caressing his chest over his shirt feeling his heart beat under her hand.
"Erin's okay baby, she's with Mel in hospital but she's okay. And it's all going to be okay, she is going to get the help that she needs to get better." Jubal leaned forward and pressed his lips against Maggie's forehead and smiled when she leaned forward resting her forehead on his shoulder. He lay his cheek against her temple "You know I'm pretty sure my ego might explode at the fact that feeling my heart beat can relax the incredible Maggie Bell." Jubal smirked playfully.
Maggie laughed softly when she heard Jubal and she pulled back to look at him, she now had a smile on her face as she looked at him her hand still resting over his heart "You think your ego could handle it if I were to tell you that it's not just feeling your heart beat, it's your voice, your presence, basically it's everything about you Jubal."
"Nope. No way can my ego handle that, we might need to clear the JOC to make room for it to expand." Jubal joked smirking knowing that this was helping Maggie come back to herself and that filled him with him so much love. The fact that he was the one that she trusted and loved so much was something he would always be thankful for. Maggie shook her head laughing as she leaned forward wrapping her arms around Jubal hugging him.
"How the hell did he get Maggie to go from looking like she was going to fall apart to be sitting laughing?." OA asked with a little awe in his voice, they had been completely shocked at what they were witnessing, to be honest they still weren't actually sure what the hell they were witnessing.
"That's one of the many questions that I have for them, I have a long list right now." Kristen shook her head now smiling as she watched Maggie and Jubal hugging.
"Love." They all looked at Stuey when he said that "The only way he done all of that and got through to Maggie is that they are in love. That takes a level of trust that only two people in love have, I watch it with my sister and her husband and we just watched it with Maggie and Jubal."
"Maggie and Jubal….." OA felt weird even saying that out loud, yes of course they had all seen Jubal kissing her forehead, and hell two co-workers or even best friends didn't act the way that Jubal and Maggie just had but they were still going to need to hear it from them to actually believe it.
Maggie hugged Jubal tight "So just how many people are staring at us?."
Jubal ran his hand along Maggie's back slowly, it's not like their secret wasn't out now, he glanced to the side "Actually all the analysts have gone back to work, it's only OA, Stuey, Tiffany, Kristen and Ian. Who to be fair all look to be standing in a lot of shock." He chuckled softly but pulled his head back a little to look at Maggie as he ran his hands along her arms slowly. "Tell me what you need baby."
"Can we go somewhere to have a minute or two before we face them? Then I want to tell them what is going on, they deserve to know. Especially the way I flinched when OA touched my shoulder." Maggie hadn't taken her eyes off Jubal, she felt a little embarrassed about what everyone had saw, not that they knew about her Jubal, she would never be embarrassed about that. She felt like they might think less of her after seeing her struggle.
Jubal stood up and held his hands out to Maggie to help her stand up as he knew her legs might be a little shaky. He squeezed her hands gently when she stood up facing him "Go in to Isobel's office, we can close the blinds if you want. I'll be with you in a minute baby I promise." He saw Maggie was a little unsure still, he leaned in kissing her softly, keeping it short since they were standing at the top of the JOC "Everything will be okay baby."
Maggie squeezed Jubal's hands gently, she was a little surprised but so thankful for his kiss as it grounded her even more, she finally let go of his hands as she walked in to Isobel's office and sat down on one of the couch's she had in there. She looked out in to the JOC for the first time watching Jubal talking to the team, she really had no idea what she would do without that amazing man in her life.
Jubal watched Maggie walk in to Isobel's before he walked over to the team "Isobel has got another team currently working the case, Maggie wants to explain what you all just witnessed, I'm guessing you guys saw everything?" When they nodded Jubal continued "Just give her a few minutes and she will tell you everything okay?." Jubal smiled nodding at them as he went to walk away to go towards Isobel's office.
"Jubal, wait" OA reached out putting his hand on Jubal's arm to stop him as he walked past him "Maggie, she's really okay?."
Jubal could see the worry in OA's eyes when he asked about Maggie, he nodded smiling "She's really okay OA I promise. She just needs a few more minutes." Jubal turned back towards Isobel's office and he stopped to talk to Isobel briefly as he explained everything that was going on, and he took out his phone making a call before finally joining Maggie as he stepped inside Isobel's office.
"You want me to close the blinds baby?."
Maggie shook her head "I think it's safe to say that our secret is out babe." She chuckled softly as she watched Jubal coming walking over to sit down beside her.
"We can just tell them that we are very friendly co-workers if you want to." He laughed as he wrapped his arm around Maggie smiling when she curled in to his side resting her head on his shoulder. "My sister is on her way here, she is going to fly to Indiana with you and I am going to come join you as soon as Isobel can get someone to fill in for me here for a few days."
Maggie lifted her head looking at Jubal "What? No… Jubal you don't need to do any of this for me. I can't just ask you to pack up and come to Indiana with me for a few days or for Jenny to fly there with me, she is so busy with work."
Jubal lifted his hand to Maggie's cheek gently caressing it with his thumb "Baby, when I told Jenny what was going on she offered, you are family she would do anything to help you. The only reason I'm not flying with you straight away is I need to give Isobel some time to bring in someone else. You need to be with your family, I realise that now. I should have noticed that at home, I'm sorry that I didn't baby."
Maggie shook her head, tears in her eyes, how the hell did she get a man that loved her this much. "That's what you were talking to Isobel about and on the phone for?" Her voice broke as a tear ran down her cheek "You have nothing to apologise for, God Jubal I honestly have no idea what the hell I would do without you. If it wasn't for you I would have fell apart out there, you are amazing, you didn't care that people were staring, you were the one that had to take those risks because all I saw and heard was you."
Jubal wiped the tear that had fallen on Maggie's cheek "Yeah that's what took me so long getting back in here, I wanted to sort things out with Isobel and Jenny. You and Jenny are booked for the next flight, she's away to our apartment to pack a few things for you and then is coming here to pick you up. Then I will join you as soon as I can. Mags I would do anything for you, I meant it earlier when I told you that you weren't alone, I didn't care who was watching us all I cared about was helping you."
"I really can't thank you enough for everything, you still manage to surprise me after eight months together. You really are an amazing man Jubal Valentine." Maggie leaned in kissing Jubal softly but with so much love as she ran her hand along his arm to his cheek. When they broke the kiss she lay her forehead lightly against his "I really do love you so much, I didn't think it was possible to love someone as much as I love you" she smiled placing small kisses to his lips.
"You never have to thank me, everything that I do is because of how much I love you. Mags you make me the happiest man in the world and the kids adore you, have done from the second you all met. You are a huge part of my life, you and the kids are the three most important people in my life." Jubal smiled giving Maggie back every small kiss, keeping their foreheads lightly against each other.
Maggie was quiet for a minute before she finally spoke again "What about the team? They are going to look at me so differently after what they saw." She spoke so softly as if afraid to say the words out loud.
Jubal shook his head gently "They won't baby, I told them you would explain everything, the only question OA had was if you were really okay. All they care about is that you are okay, they are worried about you, what they saw won't make them think of you any differently. Not them baby, they are family."
OA, Kristen, Tiffany, Stuart and Ian had all taken seats but they couldn't stop watching Jubal and Maggie in Isobel's office, this was the first time that they had seen either of them act this way and to be acting this way together was even more shocking for the team. OA leaned forward in his chair looking at the other's as they looked away when Maggie and Jubal had started kissing.
"Okay that is really going to take some time to get used to. I mean they are really dating, like Jubal and Maggie…. Dating.."
Stuey couldn't help but laugh softly hearing OA "Haven't you been trying hard to set Maggie up on dates, so you knew she was gonna end up with someone eventually."
OA sat up straight with almost wide eyes "Oh Shit! Jubal has been standing right there while I've been trying to get Maggie to go on dates! How the hell did he not just punch me?."
This had the others laughing as they thought about it and they actually had to admire Jubal's restraint to not punch OA or to just blurt out that Maggie didn't need set up on dates.
Jubal ran his hand along Maggie's arm slowly "You ready for me to go and bring the team in?."
Maggie took a slow deep breath and she nodded "Yeah, I want to tell them before I have to leave."
Jubal stood up and he opened the office door and leaned out in to the JOC and looked towards the team "Hey guys can you join us."
OA, Stuart, Tiffany, Kristen and Ian got up and walked in to Isobel's office, OA was the last one in and he closed the door and he noticed that Jubal was back sitting on the couch with Maggie and he was holding Maggie's hand in both of his hands and she was leaning against him a little. OA stood facing them as the other's had taken seats around the office.
"Okay before anything is said, Jubal I need to apologise for trying to set Maggie up on dates in front of you. In my defence I had no idea that her eh… that you were standing right there."
Maggie couldn't help the laugh that escaped as she watched OA as he actually looked nervous, Jubal shook his head laughing looking at OA "Not exactly the most entertaining thing in the world watching and listening to you trying to set my girlfriend up on dates with other men. But you were right, you had no idea OA so I don't blame you and I'm not mad at you for it."
"Yeah sorry I'm going to need a minute to get used to hearing you call Maggie your girlfriend." Kristen looked at Jubal and Maggie as she spoke which made Tiffany, Stuart and Ian laugh as OA finally sat down.
"Yeah I'm not sure that's going to be the biggest surprise for you out of all of this." Jubal smirked playfully looking at the team as they all had raised eyebrows looking at him "But before we talk about the fact that you clearly know now about me and Mags, she wants to talk to you first. Whenever you're ready baby." Jubal squeezed Maggie's hand gently.
Kristen let out a small sound of excitement hearing Jubal calling Maggie 'baby', OA shook his head laughing looking at Kristen "You think you can keep it together over there, he literally only called baby."
"Yeah but it's Maggie and Jubal have we all forgotten that." Kristen was holding her hands out towards them trying to get the others to look at them.
To be honest this was actually helping Maggie relax a little as she shook her head laughing and squeezed Jubal's hand gently as she looked at the other's taking one more deep breath. "OA I want to apologise for flinching at your touch, what you guys witnessed out there, that was me coming close to…"
"Having a panic attack." Stuey saw Maggie struggle to say the words "Like I told the other's I've seen my sister have them in the past, I recognised the signs."
"Stuey told us that his sister's husband is the only one that can help her when she's having a panic attack, is that the same for you? Only obviously Jubal in your case." OA had noticed Maggie struggling a little and he saw how she relaxed even more when Stuey started talking so he thought maybe them asking questions would help her.
Maggie listened to Stuey and OA, thankful that they were jumping in to help out, she nodded when she heard OA "It is, the only person that can help me work through them or to stop a full blown panic attack from happening like out in the JOC is Jubal." She smiled looking at Jubal.
"He put your hand on his chest, why? Even if it was the sweetest thing in the world by the way." Kristen shrugged when the others looked at her it like it was what they were thinking.
"Feeling my heart beat calms Mags down, we learned that out pretty early on in our relationship." He playfully pointed his finger at Kristen "Don't you dare squeal saying that's sweet…" he was joking playfully with her.
"While we let Kris deal with squealing on the inside over there." OA joked playfully before looking back at Maggie "Can I ask what brought it on? I mean you seemed okay until the case details."
Maggie told the team about Erin, about her past and about the phone call that she had received today from Mel, just right before they got called in to work. The team noticed how Jubal held Maggie's hand a little tighter and how she snuggled a little closer to him while telling the team.
"Maggie, I'm so sorry, but your sister is going to get the help she needs right?." OA had leaned forward in his seat trying to be closer to his partner and friend.
"She is. It's just hard being this far away from my family right now, but I'm actually going to fly out to Indiana now in a couple of hours to be with them for a couple of days. I need some time with them to clear my head and deal with things."
"If there's anything that we can do to help you, you know that you just have to say the word right? Anything at all, don't hesitate to ask." OA was speaking for the whole team as they nodded and gave verbal agreement that Maggie just had to say and they would help if they could.
"Thank you all, really I appreciate that, but your boss has kinda already made sure I have what I need." Maggie smiled looking at Jubal.
"You are going to Indiana with Maggie?." Kristen was the first to ask what had all jumped to their minds.
"Not straight away, I need Isobel to bring in someone to cover for me but my sister is going to fly with Maggie so that she's not travelling on her own."
"Oh my god. You two really are so god dam adorable, we all need a boyfriend like that." Kristen held her hands up when the other's looked at her "What? I'm just being honest. Maybe you three should ask Jubal for some tips on how to be good boyfriends." She pointed at Ian, OA and Stuart which had Tiffany and Maggie laughing.
"That is definitely not happening." Jubal shook his head laughing "I'm sure you can all figure it out yourselves."
"Yeah just get a woman that trusts you and loves you enough that you can help her through panic attacks, then get your sister to fly with her to see her family so that she's not alone, then take some time off work and jump on a flight to be with your girlfriend to meet her family. I mean that pretty much sums up, what the last hour for Jubal?." Kristen looked at Maggie and Jubal when she was finished talking.
Maggie let out a proper laugh when she heard Kristen, she couldn't help it, Kristen had said it so seriously while the other's were pulling faces at her. "So would now be a bad time to point out that he actually planned for me, his sister and himself to fly to Indiana behind my back as a surprise and talked to Isobel so that I could have the time off?."
Jubal groaned playfully poking Maggie's side when Kristen made that excited sound again that she was trying to keep in, he shook his head laughing "You are really not helping right now baby." He leaned in kissing her forehead.
"And gives forehead kisses… Gentlemen take notes." Kristen smirked playfully.
Jubal shook his head laughing "There is one part of it that you got wrong though, I've already met Mags family."
"Wait, what? When? Come on we need some details." Kristen looked at him almost pleading.
"Okay this time I do agree with Kristen.. You have really met Maggie's family, we also need to discuss how you call her Mags now too." OA raised an eyebrow looking at his partner and their boss.
"Why do you guys sound so surprised that I have met Mags family, and I've been allowed to call her Mags since our second date. Yeah don't worry OA I know all about her threatening to punch you if you tried calling her that." Jubal laughed looking at OA.
"Because meeting the parents is a huge step, like a HUGE step. I can count on one hand the number of guys parents that I have met." Kristen was sitting forward a little in her seat now as she really was so curious.
"And your surprised that we have taken such a huge step in our relationship? Because we have disclosed to work and we have also been living together for the last couple of months."
Maggie laughed as the other's were sitting with their mouths open a little, she nudged Jubal's shoulder gently "Smooth babe, really smooth."
Jubal laughed shrugging his shoulder "What? I thought that was the prefect opportunity to tell them that we live together."
Once again there was that noise coming from Kristen "I can't cope with you two, the cute names, the way you look at each other, the hand holding. You two are making me want to find someone and settle down." She laughed shaking her head "But congratulations you guys, you both really do seem so happy together."
"We are, very." Maggie and Jubal laughed when they both said that at the same time.
"See? Totally adorable." Kristen shook her head smiling.
"This explains why I haven't been over to your apartment in months, wait do you still live in your apartment?." OA looked at Maggie as he was talking.
"I do..Jubal moved in with me, we have enough room there for the kids to have a bedroom when they come to stay with us."
"Oh my God, your kids.. how could we not think of that? If they come stay with you guys they clearly approve right?." Kirsten sounded so excited as she was asking the question.
Jubal had a large smile on his face now as he thought about the kids "Oh they more than approve, they love Maggie and the feeling is very mutual. The three of them have built an unbreakable bond." Jubal smiled looking at Maggie, the smile that he only ever showed when looking at her or around his kids.
"They are pretty amazing kids." Maggie smiled as she looked at Jubal and she leaned up stealing a quick kiss from him just as there was a knock at the office door and he turned his head smiling waving for Jenny to come in. "Guys this is my sister Jenny, Jenny this is the team."
Jenny looked at Jubal and Maggie, Maggie was still leaning against Jubal and he was still holding on tight to Maggie's hand "So I'm guessing they finally know about you two?." She raised her eyebrow playfully.
"Maggie couldn't keep her hands to herself at work so they figured it out." Jubal smirked playfully and laughed when Maggie slapped his arm.
"Oh see now if you had of said that the other way around I may have believed you." Jenny teased Jubal playfully.
"You two really need to stop ganging up on me, it's not fun." He shook his head smiling as he actually loved how well Maggie and his sister got on.
"Yeah but we have so much fun and as much as I would love to stand here and keep winding you up and tell your team all about what you two are like at home, Mags and I really need to get going to catch our flight." Jenny looked around the office "eh is there somewhere private you two can go, because no one and I really mean no one want's to see you two saying goodbye to each other."
Jubal raised his eyebrow looking at his sister "Really? That's how you are going to play this? In that case I might just have to walk Mags out to your car."
"Shit! I walked right in to that one." Jenny shook her head laughing and then looked at the team "Oh I really wasn't joking though you won't want to watch them saying goodbye." She laughed and left the office before Jubal could say anything else which just had the team laughing.
"We need a night out with your sister when things calm down, she seems like a lot of fun." Kristen laughed shaking her head "But I'm gonna take her word seriously just in case." She laughed standing up.
Maggie shook her head laughing as she stood up and hugged the team thanking them all for being so understanding, and thanking them again as they once again told her to just let her know if they could do anything to help her. Jubal waited until Maggie had said goodbye to them and left Isobel's office with Maggie's hand in his, his sister had text to say she was back down in the car waiting, as she did want to give them time alone and she knew they were going to use the elevator for that. And she was right, Jubal stepped on to the elevator with Maggie and stopped anyone else from getting on with them which the team noticed as they stood in the JOC watching them.
As soon the elevator doors closed Jubal turned to face Maggie and he gently pulled her as close to him as possible and he kissed her deeply with all the love that someone could put in to one kiss running his hands along her back slowly. Maggie let out a soft moan in to the kiss when she felt Jubal bite lightly at her lower lip, she ran her hands along his arms and down his back holding him tight against her. He broke the kiss when his lungs were screaming at him for air, he only pulled back far enough to rest his forehead against Maggie's as he kept running his hands along her back slowly.
"The latest that I'll be in Indiana is tomorrow night baby, so it's only tonight that we will be apart."
"If you can't make it just let me know babe, I will completely understand, you know that right?."
"I know baby, but I'll be there I promise." Jubal ran his hand along Maggie's arm to her hand just as the elevator door opened and he squeezed her hand entangling their fingers as they walked towards Jenny's car. He helped Maggie in to the car and he leaned through the window to kiss Maggie softly "I love you so much baby, text me when you are boarding and when you land."
Maggie smiled caressing Jubal's cheek "I'll check in plenty babe I promise and I'll ring you tonight. I love you too, thank you for arranging all of this, and for everything you have done for me tonight."
Jubal shook his head "You never have to thank me baby." He stole one more kiss before standing back and he looked at his sister "Take good care of Mags for me."
"You know that I will, I promise" This time there was no joking from Jenny as she knew this was important to Jubal, he had told her all about the panic attack, not that it had happened in the JOC, she would find that out from Maggie on the plane.
Jubal stood back and waved at them as they pulled off, he stood watching until he could no longer see them before he headed back up to the JOC. He was greeted with Kristen and OA sitting at his desk and he raised his eyebrow looking at them "You know that's my desk right?."
"We do.. but we wanted to thank you for everything you clearly do for Maggie. We know there was a lot of joking and teasing in Isobel's office but I saw how much Maggie trusts you Jubal and I know she doesn't trust easily. So you clearly done something right to earn that trust and she is clearly in love with you, I just thought that was something you should hear from people that spend almost everyday with her." OA may have joked earlier but he really did want to be honest with Jubal, because he had never seen Maggie trust anyone the way that she had Jubal.
"Thank you OA, that really does mean a lot and I appreciate you telling me that. It's always nice to hear that from people that really know Maggie and I know how close you and her are. She really does trust you as a partner."
Kristen could feel herself getting emotional as she felt tears in her eyes so she had to lighten things up "I'm just here to ask to see photos of the kids with Maggie because I know that you have loads of them on your phone."
Jubal shook his head but he appreciated what they were doing, he knew that they were waiting for him cause he hated not being able to go with Maggie right now. He took out his phone and pulled up a photo of Maggie lying on the grass with Abby lying on her and Tyler laying beside her resting his head on her shoulder, he turned the phone showing it to OA and Kristen.
"We were suppose to be relaxing on that picnic blanket that you can see, the kids decided that Maggie was much more comfortable than the blanket."
"That is so cute. They look so happy together, they really do love each other."
"They really do. I'm a very lucky man." Jubal smiled as he looked at the photo of the three people he loved the most in the world.
