I had a request for the team to find out because of Nestor and this was the final result.
Maggie was back working with the team for the first time since her undercover assignment, she had really missed working alongside them and was thankful to be back with them. Back with people that she trusted to have her back no matter what. The team had been out following leads most of the day, they were now back at the JOC going through everything that they had gathered so far, Maggie has no idea what made her lift her head but she looked towards the elevator and saw Agent Nestor Vertiz coming walking towards them. Maggie froze when she saw him walking their way.
"What the hell is he doing here?."
Hearing Maggie caught the attention of the whole team and they all looked where Maggie had been watching, but none of them knew who he was other than Jubal. He understood straight away why Maggie had froze when she saw him, god he wanted to wipe that smirk off Nestor's face so much. Before Jubal could say or do anything Nestor was standing at the desk they were all gathered around.
"Hey Maggie, it's nice to see you again." He smiled so sweetly at her, OA and the other's noticed straight away how he had smiled at Maggie.
"Nestor, what are you doing here?." Maggie was still holding herself tense while talking to him.
"We thought that you guys could use some help on the case you are working, I have a CI that might have some information for you. Thought it would give us the chance to work together again." Nestor was now smirking a little at Maggie, it was like the other's didn't exist.
OA cleared his throat and looked at Nestor "Hey, I'm OA, Maggie's partner, so you two have worked together before?." OA wasn't sure what was going on but he could sense that his partner was uncomfortable but he had no idea why, and he was unaware that Jubal was clenching his fist under the table.
"Maggie talked about you, it's good to finally put a face to the name." Nestor smiled putting his hand out to shake OA's.
Maggie looked at Jubal, she could see that he was holding himself as tense as she was, neither of them wanted to see Nestor again. Hell Maggie wasn't sure that Jubal would be able to contain his anger if he and Nestor ever came face to face again. Maggie looked from Jubal to OA.
"Nestor was my partner on the undercover assignment."
"Oh so now you call us partners? Because at the medal ceremony it sounded like you were undercover alone and solved the whole thing by yourself." Nestor looked at Maggie while speaking.
"Not exactly like you acted like my partner when we were undercover, it was just easier to say that was how we know each other."
"So that's why you stood up and took all the credit because you were pissed that I didn't act like the partner you thought I should have been?."
"I didn't take all the credit, I didn't even want to go to the dam ceremony only I was told I had to."
"You could have told them the truth, that I was the reason you were brought in, so I'm the reason those sixteen arrests were made. You just happened to help out a little, but that was my case not yours."
"You have got to be kidding me right now." Jubal looked at Nestor as he spoke, standing up to face the man "You actually believe that you deserve the credit for closing that case?."
"I was wondering how long you could stay quiet for Agent Valentine." Nestor had that smirk that really pissed Jubal off. "Oh I know that I deserve it but your agent decided to steal the glory for herself, maybe she's looking to move away from your team, can't say that I blame her. And we both know I'd be more than happy to have her join me." Nestor's smirk grew as he watched Jubal.
"Maggie wanted nothing to do with getting the gold Medal, me and Isobel made her go, so no she didn't take all the glory, she wanted none of it." Jubal stepped closer to Nestor "You really think that she would go anywhere near you after everything that happened?."
OA, Stuart, Tiffany and Kristen were sitting listening, they had no idea what the hell was going on but they could tell that Maggie and Jubal clearly did not like this guy. They listened closely to Jubal which made them aware that something had clearly happened on the undercover assignment. Jubal had been Maggie's contact agent so they knew that was how he knew Nestor, they had been thankful for him being her contact agent as it meant they could check in to make sure their friend was safe and okay.
"Oh I don't know she seemed to really enjoy those nights when I had to hold her close, dance with her and kiss her." Nestor had the largest smug smirk on his face, he had found out about Jubal and Maggie dating, he had caught them kissing on one of their face to face check ins. He also knew that the team didn't know about them so this was giving him an advantage over Jubal right now and honestly that was making him so dam happy.
Jubal clenched his fist tight when he heard Nestor mention about holding Maggie close and having to kiss her, he knew that they had been undercover as a couple an she did what she had to to stay safe. But he also knew that Nestor had wanted it all to be real between him and Maggie, he had never really hid that from he met Maggie. Maggie watched as Jubal clenched his fist tight, she really wasn't sure he could hold back much longer.
"You call Maggie taking time away from you and asking to meet with me face to face as her enjoying you having your hands anywhere near her?. It really must be a long time from you've been in a relationship."
OA finally had to ask what was on his mind as he looked at Maggie "What the hell are those two talking about, is something going on with you and Nestor?."
Maggie shook her head straight away looking at OA "NO!" Okay so she maybe said that a little too loudly and too quickly but that was the last thing she wanted them thinking. "While undercover we had to pretend to be a couple, it was a way to give me extra security from the men in there."
"And he did such a great job at that." Jubal mumbled but everyone had clearly heard him.
Maggie closed her eyes briefly hearing Jubal, she knew without a doubt this was not going to end well with this all being brought up. OA had nodded when he heard Maggie mention about them pretending to a be a couple undercover for security, it made sense, but hearing Jubal just had him curious and now also worried about his partner.
"What the hell does that mean?." OA asked looking at Jubal.
The minute that Maggie had mentioned about her safety all Jubal could think of was the night she came home to him covered in bruises and marks and it had happened a couple of times even turning up once with a black eye and broken ribs . It was one of the many reasons that he really didn't like Nestor. Jubal looked at OA and then back at Nestor as the anger about the shape Maggie came home in was soaring though his body.
"You want to tell him about the shape his partner turned up in on a number of occasions or want me to do it for you?."
"You still blame me for that huh? Like I already told you I couldn't step in and one of them she walked herself right in to."
"You were her partner you were suppose to have her back, not stand back and watch them beat the crap out of her to the point where she turns up at my door with broken ribs and a black eye."
"What the fuck?." OA jumped up out of his seat hearing Jubal walking around towards Nestor and Jubal. "Someone needs to explain what the hell you two are talking about, like right now!."
Maggie knew that there was no stopping Jubal, not with the look of anger in his eyes and the way that his hand was clenched tight, she knew he really hated Nestor the nights that she had come home to him after the beatings. Hell she had been angry about them but she had to go back in there as his partner so there wasn't much she could do at the time. Jubal looked at OA.
"Maggie took a couple of beatings undercover, I know I told you guys she had been getting it rough, we decided it was best not to go into detail and I didn't think I would have to see the one person who was suppose to protect her in there ever again."
"You just stood back and let men beat on Maggie?." OA asked looking at Nestor, he honestly couldn't believe those words were actually coming out of his mouth. "What the hell is wrong with you?."
"Why don't you ask your boss or your partner why it was his door that she ran to when things got rough undercover." Nestor smirked looking at OA, he was convinced this was his way of coming out on top in this situation.
"He was her contact agent, where else was she going to go?." OA asked confused as to why Nestor would ask that.
"You really think he's that pissed at me just because I let Maggie get a few bruises? Come on you have to be smarter than that." Nestor shook his head that smirk on his face.
"Nestor! Stop. You really about to do this?." Maggie looked at Nestor, she knew exactly what he was planning on doing with the questions he was asking and the smirk on his face.
"What? You not want your partner to know the truth? To know that you have been lying to him and your team for the last couple of months? Afraid the truth will rip your team apart, make them never trust you again?." Nestor's smirk grew the more he talked.
"And what? You think that's going to make me come running to you? That will never happen." Maggie shook her head looking at Nestor.
"Well let's find out then shall we." Nestor turned to look at OA "The reason your boss is so pissed about Maggie showing up with a few bruises and hates the fact that my hands and lips were on her is because he's screwing your partner, has been for months."
Nestor just had finished talking when his face was met hard by Jubal's fist, causing his head to swing to the side from the force of being hit which made him stumble back a step or two. Kristen gasped when she saw Jubal punching Nestor, they had never seen Jubal act this way before, they wouldn't have called him a violent person.
"You call broken ribs, a black eye, a busted lip, grab marks, bruises on her legs, back and arms just a few bruises? She could barely breath because of you." Now the anger was evident in Jubal's voice as he stepped forward towards Nestor again with his fist clenched.
"Jubal!" Maggie jumped up out of her seat and moved around to stand in front of him putting her hand on his chest to stop him from going after Nestor again. "Stop. He's really not worth it."
Nestor laughed as he wiped his lip cleaning the blood off that had appeared "Isn't that sweet protecting her man." Nestor looked to OA who was standing close to him after he had stumbled from the punch "See? They've both been lying to you all, the reason he's upset is because he's jealous."
"Is what he said true?." OA looked at Maggie and Jubal.
Maggie still had her hand on Jubal's chest but looked over her shoulder when she heard OA "OA please do not put it the way that he did." She shook her head "It's not what he thinks, he thinks Jubal is something that happened because he was my only contact with the real world while undercover."
"Mags you don't have to do this because of him." Jubal was trying to let go of the anger that he had in his body, but the dam smirk on Nestor's face was making that very hard to do.
Maggie looked at Jubal "I know, but I want them to know the truth and not his delusional version." She turned around to face OA, Tiffany, Stuart and Kristen but her focus was on OA. "Jubal and I have been dating for months, long before the undercover assignment, that's why he was my contact agent."
Nestor smirked standing up taller again "See? I told you that they were lying to you and that's why he's so angry at me. I hope you think he's worth losing your team and partner over." Nestor looked at Maggie as he spoke the last few words.
OA looked at Nestor "You think that's the only reason he's mad at you? You are lucky it was Jubal that punched you and not me or I wouldn't have stopped like he did."
"You can't be serious? They lied to you all." Nestor couldn't believe what he was hearing.
OA stepped away from Nestor moving to stand beside Jubal and Maggie his focus on Nestor "Oh trust me I'm serious, I would happily take the suspension to beat the crap out of you. I trust that Jubal and Maggie had their reasons for not telling us yet about their relationship. You, there is no good reason for you letting Maggie take the beatings that you clearly did."
"What the fuck? Have you been sleeping with her too?." Nestor asked now angry, he couldn't believe the team were taking Jubal and Maggie's side.
OA went to step towards Nestor but Maggie grabbed his arm shaking her head "Trust me he's really not worth it, he would take way too much pleasure in getting you suspended."
Jubal lay his hand on Maggie's hip as she leaned back against his chest a little which was helping the anger leave his body. "What you didn't expect Nestor was that Mags and OA have a very strong partnership, I guess you just showed us why you don't have a partner. If you thought you could break up this team then I'm happy to say you are very wrong, the same way you were wrong about trying to break up me and Mags."
OA held his hand up when Nestor went to speak "Unless the words about to come out of your mouth are an apology to Maggie and Jubal, then I suggest you keep them to yourself unless you want us to work together as a team to happily remove you from the JOC."
Tiffany, Stuart and Kristen all stood up and came over to stand either side of Jubal, Maggie and OA to show that they were united as a team, something that was lost on Nestor as he didn't work with anyone, no one wanted to work with him. Nestor shook his head the anger clearly visible on his face now.
"You know what you are all fucking welcome to each other." He shook his head turning and walking away from them heading to the elevator.
"We are what a team looks like." OA shouted after him which had the others laughing a little.
Maggie turned around to face Jubal and she took the hand he had used to punch Nestor and ran her thumb over his knuckles before looking into his eyes. "You doing okay?."
Jubal smiled watching Maggie and feeling how gentle she was with his hand "You kidding? I'm great! I finally got to punch that smirk off his face, you know I have wanted to do that for two months now." Jubal chuckled softly as he kissed Maggie's forehead. "I just wish he hadn't spoke to you the way he did or said those things."
"When you two are finished having your very cute moment we have so many questions for you both." Kristen smirked playfully looking at them, which had OA, Stuart and Tiffany laughing.
"Yeah I'm with Kris, I have a few questions to ask as well, so you know whenever you two are ready, no rush we are all just watching you." OA joked playfully with them.
"Way to make yourself sound creepy OA." Maggie laughed looking at her partner slapping his arm gently. "Can we not do this standing in the JOC though?." Maggie looked at Jubal, she was still standing so close to him, his hand on her hip.
"We can go into the break room because we both know it's much better to answer their questions now, in the hope that they change the subject at some point today." Jubal joked playfully as he took Maggie's hand in his, to him there was no reason to hide it now that the team knew.
"Not going to happen, you two might just be our favourite subject for the next few days." OA laughed patting them both on their shoulders "Okay lovebirds lead the way."
Maggie groaned "Why did I agree to answer their questions." She squeezed Jubal's hand gently as they turned making their way towards the break room.
Jubal laughed kissing Maggie's temple letting their shoulders brush as they walked "Because you know it was going to happen no matter what baby."
"Aww don't they look and sound so cute." Kristen teased playfully walking behind them.
"We can hear you and I am still your boss." Jubal looked over his shoulder towards Kris joking playfully.
"Yeah our boss who just punched another agent." Tiffany had a small smirk as she spoke which made the other's laugh including Maggie.
Jubal nudged Maggie's hip gently "Hey! You are meant to be on my side."
Maggie laughed as she sat down on the couch in the break room pulling Jubal down beside her "Sorry babe, but Tiff is right. You did punch Nestor in front of the whole JOC."
"There was no way I was just going to stand there and let him talk like that about you or to you, you know I've been holding back punching that smirk off his face from the second I met him." Jubal sat down as close to Maggie as possible wrapping his arm around Maggie's shoulder
The others took seats opposite them, Stuart was the last to sit down as he looked at Maggie and Jubal "Has he really been like that from the second you both met him?."
Jubal nodded "He has. Neither of us liked him from the start but he was Mags only partner in there so we had no choice but to trust him."
"How the hell did you put up with him?." Kristen was genuine in her question to Maggie.
"It honestly wasn't the easiest thing in the world, I had no one else in there but him, we were suppose to be a couple and I wanted him nowhere near me, him standing watching the beatings were the final straw for us both." Maggie squeezed Jubal's hand gently as she felt him tense up.
"The beatings, where they really bad? You don't to have answer by the way." Tiffany had wanted to ask since they had mentioned the bruises and beatings.
"They were, Jubal wasn't exaggerating, I showed up home barely fit to breath with my ribs, he called a doctor to come see me that night. That was probably the worst one, the others were bruises and marks in different parts of my body. Some of them are still healing."
"That's why you were holding your side earlier? You are still having trouble with your ribs?." OA asked with concern in his eyes looking at Maggie.
"You weren't suppose to notice that." Maggie chuckled softly "but yeah they still cause some trouble, they still have some bruising."
"And he seriously fucking thinks that's just a few bruises? What was his excuse for not stepping in?." OA's concern had now turned to anger at Nestor.
"He said Maggie had to find her feet in there to earn trust and then he had to keep the trust, stepping in would have stopped that according to him. That's one of the reasons that he didn't get the Gold medal, we documented everything in our report." Jubal was running his hand lightly along Maggie's arm slowly while answering OA.
"How the hell have you not beat the crap out of him?." Stuart asked looking at Jubal, they all had so much anger towards Nestor now that they knew the truth.
"Oh I wanted to many times trust me, and I would have hit him again out there had Mags not stepped in. I really thought we would never have to deal with him again."
"He would be a very wise guy to stay the hell away from us all." The other's nodded agreeing with OA.
"Okay so now that we have agreed that we all want to kill Nestor, can we please get to asking about you two." Kristen leaned forward in her chair looking at Jubal and Maggie smiling.
"That was definitely not how we planned on you all finding out about us." Maggie shook her head laughing.
"See now my idea doesn't sound so bad." Jubal smirked looking at Maggie.
"So my choices were you punching Nestor after him blurting everything out or letting the team walk in on us kissing?." Maggie raised her eyebrow laughing looking at Jubal.
"Neither of those sound like great options to be fair." OA laughed watching his partner and their boss.
"Stop getting distracted." Kristen warned playfully "So you said that you showed up home while injured undercover, do you two live together?."
Maggie smiled nodding "We do, Jubal moved in with me a few weeks before the undercover assignment."
"So how long have we all apparently been blind?." Stuart laughed as he asked "Cause now that we know it's kinda hard not to see the way you two look at each other."
"You have all missed the signs for almost eight months." Jubal laughed "But in your defence we have been trying really hard to be careful at work, we didn't want our personal relationship getting in the way of anything here at work."
"So let's not tell anyone that we didn't notice for eight months cause that makes us sound like really bad agents" OA laughed softly "Who all knows?."
"Our families and Isobel, we had to disclose a few months ago. You guys were next for us to tell." Maggie smiled softly looking at them all.
"I think that means we definitely have reason to go out and celebrate, Maggie is back with the team and to celebrate you two being together." Kristen smiled looking at Jubal and Maggie.
"As soon as we get this case wrapped up we can go out, but right now we need to get back to work." Jubal laughed softly
"Yeah but now we have reasons to work faster." OA joked playfully as he and the other's stood up and left the break room heading back into the JOC sensing that Maggie and Jubal needed a minute alone before rejoining them all.
Jubal kissed Maggie's temple running his hand along her arm "You really doing okay baby? I know it can't have been easy to go over what happened on the assignment again?."
Maggie turned to face Jubal and she lifted her hand to his cheek gently "I'm really okay babe, I promise. Yes I wish none of what happened out in the JOC had of taken place, but our friends know and are happy for us, so yeah I'm doing great." She lifted Jubal's hand kissing his knuckles "I would however be happier if my boyfriend could stop punching people please." She smirked playfully.
"Hmm sorry, but that will only happen if people learn how to respect my beautiful girlfriend." Jubal whispered as he inched closer to Maggie's lips before closing the distance and kissed her slowly with so much love holding her as close to him as possible. "I don't regret punching him baby."
Maggie smiled leaning her forehead against Jubal's as she ran her hand along his arm "I know you don't babe, and honestly no one blames you for punching him. But he's really not worth it, he's out of our lives now because he knows that he can't break up this team and more importantly he can't break us up, no one and nothing can do that babe."
Jubal smiled placing small kisses to Maggie's lip "I love you so much Mags."
