Maggie, OA, Kristen, Stuart and Tiffany were sitting at their desks discussing their plans to go out for a meal tonight to celebrate Stuart's birthday. OA looked at Maggie as he spoke,
"You sure that you can't join us tonight Maggie?."
"I'm really sorry you guys I had made these plans weeks ago to catch up with an old friend and they are only in New York for a few days." Maggie felt bad lying to them but she had made these plans with Jubal and his sister so long ago that she didn't want to cancel them. They had to change their plans so many times due to work but tonight was actually suiting them all.
"You don't have to apologise, we can just use it as an excuse to go out for drinks on a different night." Kristen laughed softly as she spoke looking at Maggie.
"Any excuse to get out for another night together." OA shook his head laughing.
"Hey, I'm just looking out for the team, and I'm going to make the most of the fact that we don't have a case to head home now and get ready for tonight. You know before Isobel finds a reason to keep us all here all night." Kirsten laughed as she stood up while talking.
The team said their goodbyes and confirmed what time they were going to meet up for drinks before going for their meal, Kristen had booked them in for a meal but wouldn't tell them all where it was as she wanted it to be a surprise for Stuart. The team had been having fun with teasing Kris about wanting to organise a surprise for Stuey, she kept maintaining it was just as friends, but the team could see that there was definitely potential for more between Stuart and Kristen.
Maggie walked to the elevator with the team and told them that she had forgot to lift her phone so that she had to head back to her desk. She told them all to have a great time tonight and that she couldn't wait to hear all about it tomorrow. She waved at them as the elevator doors closed and she made her way back to her desk. Maggie couldn't stop the smile on her face when she saw Jubal sitting on her desk holding her phone, he held her phone up with a smirk.
"How many times are they going to fall for the 'Oh I forgot my phone' excuse?."
"Hey I'm not complaining since it's still actually working." Maggie laughed softly as she stood in front of Jubal, being careful not to stand too close as they were still at work.
"You know I really thought that they would have figured it out when we moved in together two months ago, considering we have come in and left together everyday since then."
"I guess we both have just been really good at hiding it, so no teasing my excuses when they are still working." Maggie smirked playfully "You ready to head home?."
"You know I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing you ask that question." Jubal had such a large genuine smile on his face "But yeah I'm ready baby, you sure that you don't want to go out tonight with the team?." He stood up as they made their way to the elevator together, no one left in the JOC paid any attention to them leaving together as the team often left with another member of the team.
"I love that both you and Jenny have told me to go out with the team tonight but honestly I've really been looking forward to going out for dinner with you both. We've been trying to make it happen for so long now, so no babe I love you for even checking but I am happy with my choice for tonight."
Jubal was still trying to get used to Maggie choosing time with him over time with the team, yes they had been dating for eight months and living together for two of those months, but at times he still couldn't believe he was the one that Maggie was choosing to be with.
The team had gone for drinks and then to Stuart's favourite restaurant in Manhattan, they had just placed their orders and were relaxing back in their seats chatting as they waited for their food. Maggie had sent Jubal on to the restaurant without her as her sister had FaceTimed her, she had told him she would be there as soon as possible and could get an Uber there. She knew that it had been a while from he had time with his sister Jenny face-to-face, so this would be giving them some time alone together.
OA wasn't sure what him made look towards the door of the restaurant but when he looked up he saw Maggie coming walking in to the restaurant. He went to raise his arm to wave at her but Kristen grabbed his arm quickly.
"Maggie is waving at someone lets see who it is."
OA, Kristen, Tiffany and Stuart were all watching Maggie as she waved at someone, but they couldn't see who it was yet. A woman stood up and hugged Maggie, which was followed by a man standing up and kissing Maggie, he had his back to the team so they couldn't see who it was. They watched as Maggie had such a large smile on her face as she lifted her thumb to his lips, they assumed to wipe her lipstick off his lips.
"Did you know Maggie was seeing someone?." Kristen looked at OA, she was surprised that words actually came out of her mouth as they were all in shock.
"She made a comment a couple of weeks ago that made me think that she was dating someone, but when I tried to bring it up again she would change the subject." OA looked at Kris before back at Maggie. The man she had kissed turned to the side to let Maggie move in to the seat beside him "Holy shit! That's Jubal…."
"Did Maggie seriously just kiss Jubal?… No… it can't be… we must be seeing things." Kristen was sitting with her mouth open a little as they couldn't believe what they were seeing.
"Guys I don't think there's any doubting that it was Jubal that Maggie was kissing since we haven't taken our eyes off them from Maggie came in." Tiffany took her eyes off Maggie and Jubal to look at the team.
"I guess now we know why Maggie and Jubal didn't want to join for my birthday meal." Stuart shook his head laughing.
"Maybe they have just got really friendly lately." OA laughed softly when he heard himself and saw Kristen raising her eyebrow at him "Hey! Blame it on the shock okay."
"Thank god that we can see them from our table or I would be asking our waitress to move us, I have to see what they are like with each other. Did we seriously miss that Maggie and Jubal are dating?." Kristen spoke to the team but her eyes were still on Jubal and Maggie.
Maggie had sat down on the chair beside Jubal who had lay his arm on the back of Maggie's chair running his fingertips along her shoulder as her dress allowed him to brush skin. The team couldn't believe what they were seeing when they saw Jubal lean over placing kisses to Maggie's shoulder, Maggie turned placing a kiss to Jubals forehead before turning back to face the woman who was with them as Jubal watched Maggie running his hand along her back with such a large smile on his face.
"Yeah I don't think there is any doubting that Jubal and Maggie are dating. Never imagined Jubal being like that with someone he was dating." Kristen was shaking her head lightly in disbelief, how had they missed this. They couldn't get over how Jubal couldn't keep his hands or lips off Maggie.
"Do either of you know the woman that is with them?." Stuart asked as he looked at OA and Kirsten.
OA shook his head "Only person I can think it might be is Jubals sister."
"He did say that he had plans with his sister tonight, that's why he couldn't join us." Kirsten briefly took her eyes off Maggie and Jubal, trying to let it all sink in.
From where Jenny was sitting she could see the team, she had never met them before so she had no idea who they were but they were making it so obvious that they were staring at Jubal and Maggie. She was only glancing their way so that they didn't notice her watching them, she looked at Jubal and Maggie leaning a little closer to them.
"When someone says this the first thing people do is turn around straight away, so try really hard not to do that… but there is a table of four sitting behind you both, it's two females and two males, but they haven't took their eyes off you guys since Maggie joined us."
Jubal and Maggie had to both try really hard not to turn around as soon as they heard Jenny, Jubal looked at his sister "And your sure it's us they are watching?."
"Oh I'm more than sure they really aren't being discreet about it." Jenny laughed softly.
Maggie was trying to figure out who it would be that would know them and watching them and it finally dawned on her as she looked at Jubal "It has to be the team… they were going out for dinner tonight, and Jen said it was two males and two females."
"Can you try to see baby without making it obvious?." Jubal focused on Maggie, he still had his arm around her shoulders, his fingertips brushing the skin on her shoulder.
"Yeah, I can use my hair to hide that I'm glancing that way, I can just pretend that I'm staring at you." She smirked playfully.
"Well that won't be hard to pretend since you two are usually staring at each other." Jen teased playfully laughing softly.
"Great help sis thank you." Jubal rolled his eyes playfully, shaking his head laughing.
Maggie turned her head to face Jubal, she was glad she had wore her hair down as she was able to use it to hide her face a little as she glanced out of the side of her eye. She leaned forward resting her head on Jubal's shoulder, her forehead against his neck.
Jubal chuckled softly "That means it's the team behind us."
"So that's really your team?." Jen asked looking at Maggie and Jubal.
"Yeah that's OA with Kristen directly across from him, Tiffany beside him and Stuart beside Kristen." Maggie had kept her head on Jubals shoulder but was now looking at Jenny.
"Do you guys want to leave and we can grab dessert somewhere else?." Jen knew that they hadn't told the team yet about them dating.
Jubal kissed Maggies head as he ran his hand along her back slowly "It's up to you baby, what do you want to do?."
Maggie lifted her head from Jubals shoulder so that she could see him, she lifted her hand to his cheek and smiled as she leaned in kissing him softly "We aren't leaving babe, they were going to eventually find out and now I can stop using the excuse that I have forgotten my phone so that we can go home together."
Jen couldn't help the large smile on her face as she watched and heard Maggie but then laughed softly "How many times have they fallen for the you've forgotten your phone excuse?."
Jubal was surprised when Maggie said about staying and kissing him, he was sure that she would want to leave and would pull away from him. He chuckled softly hearing Maggie and looked at his sister "Way too many times.. I honestly don't know how they are still falling for it, lets just say that its been often enough lately that I was sitting on Mags desk today holding her phone waiting for her to come back."
Jen shook her head letting a proper laugh out, which had Maggie laughing as well as she thought back to Jubal sitting on her desk "Yeah your brother wants to send the team for some extra training since they are still falling for it. He was so proud of himself when I came back to find him sitting on my desk holding my phone."
"I mean Jubal might actually have a point about the extra training, how have FBI agents not picked up on that excuse yet and they are also really bad at hiding that they are watching you. I mean seriously they might as well just come over they are making it that obvious." Jenny was still laughing softly as she lifted her wine sipping it.
"I actually have an idea…. You want to have some fun with the team baby?." Jubal had a small smirk on his lips as he looked at Maggie.
"Oh see now I'm curious to find out because that face means you already have a plan." Maggie chuckled softly.
The team were eating their food and they were going over things that they might have missed that would have indicated that Jubal and Maggie were dating. They were all starting to pick up on things, like how they stood that little bit closer and how they were finding Maggie and Jubal spending more time together at work. OA was about to call the waitress over to order another round of drinks when she arrived at their table with a round of drinks for them.
"That table have sent you a round of drinks with a message for you all, they said that you need to work on being a little more discreet when watching people." The waitress pointed over to the table Maggie, Jubal and Jenny were sitting at. When the team looked at them, Jubal, Maggie and Jenny all waved at them with big smiles on their faces.
Maggie turned back to face Jenny and she was proper laughing as she lay against Jubal "Oh my god I don't think I have ever seen the team in so much shock." She looked at Jubal "I think I love you a little bit more after that."
"They were actually sitting with their mouths open, even the waitress was chuckling at how stunned they were." Jenny shook her head laughing, she had to wipe the tears from her eyes from laughing so much.
"It was just too good of an opportunity to waste… now we have to see how brave they are." Jubal shook his head laughing as he kissed Maggies head running his hand along her arm slowly.
OA finally managed to thank the waitress as she sat their drinks down and walked away, he stared at Maggie and Jubal before looking at the team. "Now what the hell do we do?."
"We have to go over there right?." Kristen spoke looking at the others.
"They clearly caught us and we can't ignore that they sent us a drink." Tiffany lifted her drink as she stood up.
"Tiff is right, we have to go over and it's better to go now than put it off any longer." Stuart nudged Kristens shoulder gently so that she would stand up. The four of them lifted their drinks as they all took deep breaths as they made their way towards Maggie and Jubals table.
"Oh they are coming walking towards us." Jenny actually sounded excited as she spoke to Jubal and Maggie.
"Jen I had no idea you were going to enjoy this so much." Maggie laughed softly.
"Neither did I." Jen laughed shaking her head "but it's just made this night even better."
"I'm glad we could provide you with some entertainment." Jubal teased playfully as he looked at the team standing by their table and he shook his head laughing "Unless you want everyone in the restaurant staring at you four I think you should all take seats."
Jen moved her chair around to be beside Maggie and Jubal as the team lifted chairs to join them, OA sat his drink on the table as he looked at Maggie and Jubal "So how did you two figure out that we were watching you, you both had your backs to us the whole time?."
"And were clearly focused on each other." Kristen took a drink after speaking as she wasn't sure she had meant to say that out loud.
Jubal laughed softly hearing Kristen, he couldn't shake the smile as Maggie had stayed tucked in to his side, her hand resting on his stomach. "My sister told us that there was four people behind us, watching us."
"I think you'll find I said staring at you two." Jenny laughed softly looking at Jubal.
"Fine.. staring at us." He shook his head laughing "Mags was able to glance your way to check if her suspicions were right. I mean you guys seriously Jen said you were making it very obvious that you were staring at us." He teased playfully with a smirk on his face which had Maggie laughing softly.
"In our defence we had no idea what the hell we were seeing. OA spotted Maggie coming in, and then we saw her kissing a man, you turned around and well then we just couldn't stop staring." Stuart shrugged his shoulders laughing softly.
"Did you guys really think that I was that bad at remembering to lift my phone to take home?." Maggie raised an eyebrow looking at them.
Kirsten let out a small squeal "Oh my god, you've been going back to leave work with Jubal?."
"No point us leaving or arriving at different times when we live together." Jubal smiled looking at Maggie.
Kristen let another sound, this time a little louder which had Jen laughing as she was really enjoying this, the team were once again in so much shock. Tiffany was the first to find her voice this time "You two live together?."
Maggie nodded smiling "We do. We moved in together about two months ago."
"Can we maybe not tell people that we clearly missed this…. How long you two been dating?." Stuart looked at Jubal and Maggie, he couldn't take his eyes of them as Maggie lay her head on Jubals shoulder, not hiding that her hand was resting on his stomach.
"We've been together for a little over eight months now." Jubal had such a large smile on his face as he spoke, kissing the top of Maggies head.
"Eight months?." OA asked in shock "How the hell did we miss it for that long?."
"Oh I asked them that constantly." Jenny laughed looking at her brother "What? It's not like you two are the best at keeping your hands to yourselves." She smirked playfully waving her hand at them as if to prove her point as Maggies hand was still resting on Jubals stomach as his hand ran along her back slowly.
"We were good at keeping our hands to ourselves while at work, well most of the time."He smirked playfully, laughing when Maggie poked his stomach gently "But at home was and is different, we didn't have to hide." Jubal smiled as he lay his cheek against the top of Maggies head, he couldn't stop smiling as he realised that he no longer had to ever hide how much he loved Maggie and he was always going to be happy about that.
