Two-Bit had been feeling off about his relationship with Dallas. He had started to develop more romantic feelings for him. He had taken notice of how feminine Dallas had started to look. His white, blond hair fell over the left side of his face in long curls. He remembered Johnny mentioning something to him about cutting it but Dallas just stubbornly said no.
He also couldn't help but notice how Dallas' hips swayed when he walked by. He wondered what it would be like to hold his hips in his hands. He knew Dallas had noticed him checking him out but he didn't really try to hide it. Dallas would try to leave the room if he noticed. Two-Bit had thought about kissing him and he could even admit he had had a few wet dreams about him too.
The gang had recently had a small gathering for Johnny's eighteenth birthday at the Curtis' house. Two-Bit and Dallas were drinking pretty heavily that night. He recalled that much. He thought it was odd to see Dallas drink after not drinking for a long time. He remembered how Dallas had turned down quite a few beers over the last couple years or so. Two-Bit was the one who brought the beer that night and he didn't mind sharing with Dallas.
He was joking around with Dallas. He was telling any joke he could possibly think of. Dallas thought he was hilarious which he thought was strange. Dallas typically didn't find his jokes that funny, but it could have been the alcohol. At some point they were both laughing just to laugh. It had been a long time since he had seen him look so happy.
"Hey. If ya'll are gonna get loud go to the other room." Darry mildly scolded.
Two-Bit and Dallas both stood from their chairs at the dining room table and made their way to the spare bedroom. They were trying to stifle their laughter when they approached the door to the room. Two-Bit lazily gripped the door knob and pushed the door open with his shoulder. He let Dallas step inside with him before he softly closed the door behind them. He hadn't even noticed that they didn't turn on the light.
He looked at Dallas. He had his hand over his mouth and was still trying to stifle his giggling. He was still laughing and he couldn't even remember why. He was trying to stop so he took his eyes off Dallas for a moment.
The next time he looked at him he was staring at him. He had a certain look in his ice, blue eyes. He didn't know how to feel. He had feelings for him but he was horrified of letting himself be loved by anyone. He could feel his defense mechanism start up within him. He couldn't make it stop. He didn't want to hurt Dallas. He watched as he stepped up to him slowly. Soon, their lips were mere inches away from each other.
"Dally?" Two-Bit slurred as Dallas moved his lips closer to his.
"Keith. ." Dallas whispered.
Dallas pressed his soft, thin lips to Two-Bit's. Their lips remained locked for what seemed like forever to Two-Bit, but it probably only lasted a moment. He wanted to love Dallas and let him in, but he couldn't. He wasn't ready for that. He pushed Dallas off of him as if he was diseased. He stared at him and wiped his mouth with his jacket sleeve.
He watched as the blond stumbled backward and almost tumbled to the floor. He stared at him. He could see in Dallas' eyes he was hurt and he understood why. He needed to defend himself. He wasn't even sure what he was defending himself from. He continued to stare at him. He noticed the tears that were welled up in Dallas' eyes, but they refused to fall.
He saw the fear spread across Dallas' face as he started to step closer to him. He looked into his grey eyes.
"What the fuck was that, you faggot?" Two-Bit growled.
He saw him wince when the slur passed his lips. He tried to shrink back from him but Two-Bit just stepped closer.
"I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-" Dallas began but Two-Bit rudely cut him off.
"Sorry? You're fuckin' sorry?" Two-Bit laughed to himself, "I asked what the fuck was that?"
Dallas took in a deep breath and slowly released it. He continued to look into Two-Bit's eyes.
"I kissed you. ." He whimpered and took in another deep breath.
Two-Bit wanted to stop being so cruel to him but it was like he couldn't control himself. He continued to berate him.
"So, you think you can come and press yourself all over me?" Two-Bit asked.
"No, I just-"
"Just what? You just assume I'm a fag like you?" Two-Bit hissed.
"No. ." Dallas mumbled. He looked around as if he was trying to find a way to leave.
"If you ever do that again I won't hesitate to knock you out," he pushed him against the wall, "understood?"
Dallas nodded and left the room quicker than lightning. Two-Bit stood there in a quiet room. He already hated himself for how he behaved. Two-Bit wanted to leave but he didn't want to hurt Johnny's feelings. He didn't want to see Dallas. He didn't want to see him look so upset. He did see him at least once before he left for the night. He had a cigarette in his mouth but he had it in the wrong way. He wasn't sure if it was because he was wasted or because he was that upset.
He remembered he tried to leave the house to go home, but Sodapop stopped him. He really didn't want to talk. He looked at him. Sodapop looked concerned about something.
"What happened between you and Dallas? He looked awfully upset after you guys went to the room." He said. Two-Bit rolled his eyes.
"It's none of your business. I'm going home." Two-Bit said and opened the door.
"You better not have hurt him." Sodapop said coldly before he closed the door in his face.
He didn't understand why Sodapop would be trying to butt into his business like that. He didn't ever act like that before. He shrugged. It wasn't that big of a deal to him.
Two-Bit had to admit that he did feel horrible for how he treated Dallas. He wasn't sure how he felt about the blond, but he knew his feelings weren't one hundred percent platonic.
At that particular moment Two-Bit was making his way to the Curtis' house. He wondered if Dallas even wanted to talk about what happened that night. He doubted he even wanted to remember it. Dallas usually got that way when something embarrassing happened to him. He had noticed the blond seemed to be avoiding him.
He stepped up on the porch and let himself inside. He instantly took notice of a certain blond sitting on the couch. He smiled at him but he saw how he just frowned at him. Dallas looked like he was ready to jump up and leave, but he stayed on the couch. He had a cigarette in between his fingers and he was about to light up. Two-Bit sat next to him. He gave him a side glance before he focused on lighting his cancer stick. He was really trying his hardest to pretend Two-Bit wasn't there. Two-Bit cleared his throat and Dallas turned to him.
"Hey, Dally." Two-Bit said.
"Hi, Two-Bit." Dallas said coldly.
"I got a question for you." Two-Bit said and sat back against the couch.
"What?" Dallas asked.
"Well, I wanted to apologize for how I acted at Johnny's birthday party. I was just wondering if you wanted to go to Buck's with me later for a couple drinks." He said.
Dallas took a long drag off his cigarette while he stared at him for a moment.
He pulled the cigarette from his lips, "sure, when?" the smoke seeped out of his mouth as he spoke.
"Around eight tonight. I can pick you up if you want." Two-Bit said.
"It's okay. I can walk." Dallas said.
Two-Bit shrugged, "whatever makes you happy. I'll see you tonight then."
"I'll see you there." Dallas said before taking another drag off his cigarette.
Two-Bit was glad he accepted his offer. He continued to sit next to him. He looked forward to his little date with Dallas Winston.
