Chapter 2
"Nevermind, as long as you didn't go." Isabella smiled at her children referring to the gate. She definitely knew that both Norman and Emma went. Along with leaving Conny's plush bunny.
Once their mother was out of sight Emma fell to her knees with a loud thud. She seemed to be out of breath. Both Ray and Leia were about to turn the corner. The black-haired boy reached out to grab his friend's hand. Ray shakes his head wanting to wait for their departure first.
"Can you get up?" Norman asked Emma bending down to her height reaching out her hand.
His hands were shaking. He's far from being alright. Seeing Conny's dead body frightened him.
Leia knew what they saw last night. They say they did not make it but yet they come back empty-handed. On top of that Emma has not been herself all morning. Soon the to left the stairwell area and down the hall. Leia and Ray walked over watching them leave.
"They know alright," Ray said looking over at Leia.
Soon it was their free time to play to their heart's content. This is when both Ray and Leia decided to comfort them about the incident. The two decided to follow them as the two made their way into the woods.
"Tell you what, I will go talk to Ray myself and you go back to the house-"
"Why not now?" Ray asked cutting him off.
Leia followed behind him, "Sorry. We followed you!" She beamed a wide grin.
"It's been bugging us all day so I thought we should ask you two." Ray handed Emma a book.
Leia watched him walk behind the to and instantly wrapped his arms around them. "Tell me what happened last night." Of course, Emma acted obibulous.
Leia crossed her arms, "You guys came back empty-handed."
"On top of that, you both are acting weirder than usual," Ray added on giving Norman a strong glare.
"You're so sharp!" Norman grinned.
"So I assumed something happened now spill it!" He became more aggressive and started to chock Emma to make her talk.
Emma and Norman soon started to explain everything that Ray and Leia already know. They had to act clueless or else they won't be trustworthy.
"Aren't you a clever one?" Emma spoke as she was being choked by Ray's arm
"D- demons?" Leia squeaked out and held her arms. Of course, these two know that they are all livestock. They couldn't go around telling the two that they have known all along.
"Mom is the enemy? This is bad." He stated.
"He catches on fast!" Emma yelled out in shock as she was in disbelief Ray believed what the two told him.
"Actually that makes sense, " Leia started, "The tattooed indication on our neck. They must sort us out by numbers rather than age."
"Exactly," Ray looked over to her, "This whole time Mom has been feeding us so well so we would be shipped out and become demon food." Ray reached up to touch the numbered marking on his neck.
"Actually I'm surprised the two of you believed this so easily," Emma says in shock as she points at Leia and Ray.
Leia shrugged, "Settle hints are around the house. This house has latticed windows. We're obviously living in a cage. Also if you think about it. Were in the middle of the 21st century and there is not one single TV set to be found." She pointed out using her fingers to count as she described the things that were out of place.
"Of course I'd believe it, Norman would never make an unbelievably dumb lie. He's not you Emma." Ray placed a hand on his hip.
Emma froze then made a slump lowering her arms. Leia giggled softly shaking her head.
"So if we are really going to make a break for it we need to address a couple of things. First is the number of kids." He placed his right hand on his chin as he thought out loud, "We should narrow it down to those who could make it-"
"Wait!" Emma cried out, "We're leaving here and taking everyone."
"Emma," Leia started, "We gotta be logical here. Don and Gilda would definitely make it with us. That being said taking kids under five would be bothersome." She let out a sigh lowering her head.
"Everyone? You're kidding, right?" He said softly, "There are 37 of us kids here.
