"You're so beautiful, Hannah," Mom complimented as she braided about three strips of my hair.
"You really think so?" I smiled as I looked into the mirror.
"Without a doubt," Mom replied as she finished braiding, "Are you ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be," I smiled.
We walk downstairs to the party room. I can see our friends: Stella, Flora, Musa, Tecna, Layla, and Pyra standing over to the right of the room. They all wave frantically over at us; we gently wave back.
"Hannah! Look what I'm about to do!" Pyra shouted to me.
Everyone turns to look at me and then turn to stare at Pyra. My face is all red and blushed from the eyes of the people.
"I'm watching, Pyra!" I shout back.
Pyra nods and starts to form what looks like an ice slide. She transforms into her Enchantix fairy form, grabs a decoration and began to swing around the ballroom, "Woo! This is awesome! Girls, you all got to try this!"
To the left of the stairwell, Karen, one of the advisors, begins to freak out like a little kid who doesn't get what she wanted.
"What the heck do you think you're doing? Get down from there!"
"It's okay, Karen.. calm down. I'm completely fine!" Pyra reassured.
"Do you know how long it took for me to put up these decorations?"
"It took awhile, I know. But you can't tell me what to do for I am Princess Pyra of Glaiza!" Pyra savagely replied.
"Can't argue with that," I chimed in.
"Get down from there!" Karen raised her voice.
"You'll have to catch me first!" Pyra laughed.
"Oh, really? Really? Okay, you know what?" Karen tries using her magic.
Pyra evilly laughs, "Missed me, b*tch!"
Everyone in the room stared at Pyra; I, for one, burst out laughing at Pyra's statement.
"What the heck, Pyra? You can't speak with an advisor like that!" Layla shouted.
"And who's going to stop me? You?" Pyra replied still swinging and sliding.
"No, but your mother will."
"Huh? What?" Pyra looked down at the crowd, "Uh, hi Mom! How are you-ah!" she greeted as she fell to the floor.
"Mmhm..Pyra, you're-" Pyra's mother began.
"No! You can't make me!" Pyra screamed.
"Too late. We're going home to Glaiza."
"Wait! Please don't drag Pyra away, she'll calm down," I pleaded.
Queen Alba turned around, "I'm sorry, Princess, but my daughter is making a fool of herself."
By this time, Pyra had already transformed out of her fairy form, "Hannah's right, mother," she walks towards me, "I promise to behave from now on."
Her mother looked at me then looked over at Pyra, "Alright..fine, we'll stay."
"Awesome! Thanks, Mom!" Pyra thanked, "Thank you for allowing me to continue being the life of the party."
"Phew..that was close.." I said relieved as everyone in the ballroom returned to their conversation and dancing.
"I know right? Guess I forgot I wasn't home. I'm sorry King Oritel and Queen Marion," Pyra apologized and curtsied.
"No worries, Pyra. At least you were enjoying yourself," Dad replied.
Pyra nodded and Bloom, Pyra, and myself began to walk towards our friend group. Pyra suddenly stopped walking, "Oh! I almost forgot!" she snaps her fingers; the ice slide disappears and the decorations are put back up.
"Good call, Pyra. We wouldn't want Karen to have another freak out," I joked.
Pyra laughs, "Haha! I know right?"
"That was amazing, Pyra!" Stella complimented.
"Yeah, but it looked dangerous," Layla chimed in.
"Don't worry about me, girls! I live for danger!" Pyra reassured.
"And that's why I love you, babe."
Pyra spun around and almost screamed, "Geez, Blaize! Don't sneak up on me like that!" she almost knocks him off his feet.
Pyra usually never calls Blaize by his name, unless he does something like this that seriously upsets Pyra. Her nickname for him is Flame because he is the wizard of fire from Red Fountain school.
"And you, baby girl, looked real cute with your cheeks as red as a rose garden," said a voice from behind. I'm about to fall over when someone catches me, "I see you're still a little jumpy, hm?"
I get back on my feet quickly, "Oh my gosh, Nicky! You know I don't like it when you do that!" I scolded.
"Sorry, babe. You don't have to raise your voice," Nicky apologized.
I threw myself into his arms, "I'm so sorry! I completely lost it when you scared me! Please forgive me.." I pleaded.
"Baby, it's fine. I was teasing," Nicky replied.
We interrupted by music playing in the background; my friends and I turn and see the crowd of people dancing. I recognize the song being Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
"Ah! I love this song!" Stella exclaimed, "C'mon, Brandon! Let's go dance!" Stella proceeds to drag Brandon to the dance floor and begin to slow dance.
"Care to dance?" Nicky and Flame asked us together. Pyra and I politely agree to dance.
Pyra and Flame go to dance and we follow soon after when someone places a hand on my shoulder, "Been awhile, Hannah."
I turn my head to see my childhood friend, Sarah.
"Sarah! Oh my gosh! Yes, it has been awhile!" I exclaim as I threw my arms around her.
"Yes, I hope it was okay if I invited some of my friends to the party," Sarah replied while brushing off her shoulders.
I look behind Sarah and see two other girls. I recognize them as Natalia and Karmen.
"Oh..yeah. It's okay to have invited them," I politely answer with hurt in my heart.
I met Sarah and her friends nine years ago at Alfea camp for young, aspiring fairies. They bullied me for, I can only assume, out of jealousy. I don't know what they could've been jealous of..I wasn't really self-centered even now.
"Thank you for accepting their invitation, Hannah," Sarah replied not noticing my voice crack, "C'mon, Natalia and Karmen! We promised each other we'd dance over by the canteen area."
I watch with a heavy heart as Sarah and her friends walk towards the canteen.
"Um..excuse me, Princess Hannah?" I hear someone speak up behind me.
I turn around, "Oh! Hi, Skyler! What is it that you need?" I ask.
"Your parents requested for me to find you. They want to speak with you," Skyler explained.
"Really? I wonder what they want to talk about.. I'll be right back," I begin to walk over to Mom and Dad.
I finally make it out of the crowd and see Mom and Dad ahead of me.
"Hannah, sweetheart!" Dad motioned for me to come closer, "How are you enjoying your first ball?"
"It's actually better than I expected. To be honest, I thought I would be a mess, but here I am literally laughing and smiling and most of all..having fun!" I explain.
"That's wonderful to hear, darling! We're both very happy to know all of you are enjoying yourselves!" Mom chimed in.
"Before I forget-Hannah. Like I have mentioned to Bloom before-it's a Domino tradition for a king to dance with his daughters."
I have nothing to say, but stutter just some mumbo jumbo, "O-o-oh..is that so..? Hehe.." my cheeks turn bright red at the thought of dancing in front of a crowd.
"It is so! Come on, shall we dance?" Dad asked walking with me to the center of the room.
My face is as red as the red, red rose as the crowd of people are watching us. As we continue to dance, I begin to have flashbacks to when I first tried to dance when I was six years old. I remember back on Eraklyon when I was just watching the royal ball from above and here I am attending a royal ball dancing with Dad. It's like a dream come true!
"Hannah, looks like someone wants to dance with you," I blink back into reality.
I look over to where Dad was pointing to.. Nicky was looking at me. I nod to Dad and I walk towards Nicky.
I then see Nicky turn his head and smile, "Who is Nicky smiling to?" I think to myself.
Nicky walks to his right and disappears from sight. I quickly turn to my left and see the most devastating sight I have ever seen.
I sadly squealed, "N-Nicky..n-no..this can't be happening.." I grab my head as if I got a headache.
I cannot believe what I'm seeing.. Nicky was..is making out with one of Sarah's friends, Natalia.. Tears are flooding my eyes as I turn and run. I cry and run past Mom and Dad.
"Hannah? What's wrong?" I hear Mom calling after me, but I'm still running with tears in my eyes when I run out to the courtyard.
I slow down and kneel down at a gazebo; there I weep and ponder why Nicky cheated on me.
"Why? Why would he do this to me? I thought his love for me was real.." I weep, not noticing Mom come up behind me.
"You want to talk about it?" Mom asked with concern kneeling down placing a hand on my shoulder.
I look up at her with eyes filled with tears, by this time, Mom sat down next to me.
"Y-yeah..well, it's Nicky.." I sniffed.
Mom looked at me with a worrisome look, "I'm listening."
I stood up and sat down on the gazebo bench; Mom followed suit.
I clench my fists, "I understand now why Nicky was ignoring my calls.." I can hear my voice crack, "But I-I.."
"But what?" Mom encouraged me to try to continue.
"I saw Nicky kissing another girl.." I hear Mom gasp, "making out with the girl who bullied me nine years ago..and worse of all, it looked like he was enjoying it with no resistance.." I try my best to hold back tears.
Mom pulled me into a hug, "My heart hurts for you sweetheart."
I begin to sob again and threw myself into her arms. I feel at ease whenever I'm in Mom's arms, like the sorrow I've felt, departed from my heart.
About twenty minors minutes of grieving, I look up at Mom, "I'm ready to speak to Nicky for answers."
Mom smiles gently, "Alright, sweetheart. Let's go speak to Nicky. I'll be right behind you."
I nod to Mom and we make our way to the ballroom entrance. When we open the door and walk in, Mom and I are greeted by a full-blown argument brewing between Nicky and...Dad??
