"Oof!" I yelp in pain as I pick myself back up, "Augh!" I grimace in pain as I grab my right arm.
"I must have broken my bone pretty good as I fell," I whisper to myself, "If not, then it's badly bruised. I really must be more careful before I-ah!" I wailed as I tripped onto my face, "What the-?"
I sit up and slowly turn my head to find my ankle caught within a root. I turn myself to free my ankle from its grasp only for the root to tighten; I wince a I place both my hands on the root and continued to pull.
I panted, "It's no use.."
I tried once more, but my hands slipped and and my right arm smacked into the tree behind me.
"Ow..!" I whimpered, "What have I gotten myself into?"
A hysterical high-pitched shriek can be heard throughout the forest.
"Our sweet, baby daughter.." Marion whimpers softly.
"Mom, don't worry, we'll find Hannah," Bloom comforts Marion.
I look to Marion and Bloom empathetically.
"Bloom's right, dear," I pull them into a reassuring hug.
Marion wipes her eyes, "We all have to stay strong for Hannah," Marion nods in agreement.
We venture further into the forest until we have reached a clearing that branches into two paths.
"It seems we have to split up from here," I implied.
Marion and Bloom inclined their heads in agreement.
"I'll take the path on the left. Marion and Bloom, you search the other trail," I declared.
"What shall we do if we have no luck finding Hannah?" Bloom speaks up.
"We head back here," I answered.
Marion and Bloom nodded in understanding and we head off down each path.
"Ouch!" I flinched as the root pinched harder than ever.
I begin to flash back to the evening of the party: from Nicky and Natalia making out in the corner of the ballroom to our argument.
My eyes begin to well up tears, "What have I done?" I question myself and begin thinking about Mom and Dad; I cry even harder as I dig my face into my hands.
"Mom...Dad...Bloom...I'm sorry..I'm sorry I broke your hearts...I-augh!" I unintentionally threw my right arm back against the tree, "I seriously need to be more careful before I do anymore damage.." I whisper to myself.
"Mom..Dad..Bloom.." tears begin to roll down my cheeks as I cry my eyes out.
About ten minutes of eating my heart out for Mom, Dad, and Bloom, I begin to envision Dad calling for me.
"Am I fantasizing or am I really hearing Dad's voice?" I mumbled.
"If you chop a tree down in the middle of the forest, butthe tree doesn't understand why you chopped it down; do you think it's stumped?"
"Please be alright, Hannah.." I mutter to myself as I make my way through a thicket.
"Hm?" I pause and anxiously scout the environment for any sign that Hannah has been here.
I notice snapped twigs and crunched leaves lying out near the edge of a hill.
I cautiously peer down the hill, "I don't want to believe Hannah could have plunged down into this valley..but there's only one way to find out.." I determined abruptly as I search around for a path down.
"Ah!" I exclaim as I caught sight of a path leading down to the valley, "It's a tad steep, but I'm able to hike down."
I whimpered softly and bit my lips, "Dad..."
So my mind wasn't playing tricks on me..Dad really is here..but where are Mom and Bloom?
I lift my head up to twigs snapping; I squint my eyes as the shadow of a man crept closer.
When I am able to see who is striding closer, tears began running down my face.
"Dad..." I mouthed as Dad knelt down.
"My little princess," Dad responded as he gently strokes my side swept bangs, "I'm glad to see you in one piece."
I sniffled, "How did you-augh!" I clench my teeth and reached for my right ankle.
Dad tilted his head to inspect my ankle, "An enchanted root..hang in there, sweetheart," he reassured me as he pulls out the Sword of Domino.
At the sight of a sharp object, I shriek and begin to squirm.
"No..no! No!" I cried out.
"Hey. Hey. Hey!" Dad grabbed my shoulders, "It's going to be alright. I don't want the root to mutilate your ankle further, understand?"
I whine softly, but I nod to Dad. He lifted his sword and slowly began to cut the root.
The root fell to the ground and immediately rush myself into Dad's arms. I cry into his chest as he strokes my hair.
"I'm sorry.. I-I wasn't thinking.." I whimpered in his arms.
"Shh..I was upset, you were upset. I wasn't thinking either," Dad comforted as his voice cracked.
I look up at Dad, "You mean you-?" I paused, trying to find what I want to say.
Dad nodded, "I understand, Hannah. I should be the one-what's wrong, Hannah?" Dad asked worriedly.
I notion my eyes to my broken arm, "I tripped down this hill and injured my arm in the process," I grimace as the pain worsened.
Dad narrowed his eyes to my arm and back into my eyes, "It may not be much, but it will help to stabilize your arm."
Dad reaches for his cape and wraps it around my arm like a cast.
"How does that feel, Hannah?" Dad asked wondering if the cast is on tight enough.
I nod, "It feels great, Dad. Thank you," I smile gently as Dad began to lift me up, "Augh!" I staggered into Dad, "I twisted my ankle.." I lightly massage the wound.
"You better stay off it, then.." Dad softly responded.
Before I knew it, Dad bent down and hoisted me up in his arms like cradling an infant.
"Dad..you don't have to.." I began, "I-"
"I know, sweetheart, but you can't walk on your ankle for awhile," Dad explained as he carried me up the steep path.
I looked at Dad smiling tenderly, "Okay, I understand."
As soon as Dad reaches the peak of the hill, we are greeted by a load of gasps and whimpers.
Dad gently set me down and I limped over into Mom's arms, "She's as fragile as a flower right now. We'll need to keep an eye on her," Dad mentioned.
Mom slowly stroked the side of my face, "Hannah, darling, what happened?"
Mom was referring to the bruises and scars on my face: my arm, which is wrapped in a cast of Dad's cape, and my ankle.
"It's a long story, but I'm happy to see you all here," I sobbed blissfully.
Mom chuckled softly and squeezed me tight. I could feel Dad and Bloom join in on the hug.
"We must bring you to the hospital, alright, Hannah?" Dad insisted.
I nod, "Alright. I think I'll be able to walk on my-ah!" I yelp as I fall to my knees.
Mom and Dad gradually help me back up my feet.
"We think it would be best if I lifted you into my arms, sweetheart," Dad promptly added as he hoisted me up.
I nervously smiled, "O-of course. Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking.."
"No worries, darling," Mom reassured me.
"What happened exactly down in the valley, Hannah?" Bloom questioned.
"After I was pushed into the valley, I-"
"Whoa, whoa! Someone intended to harm you?!" Bloom interrupted.
"All I heard was a voice behind me saying I would not be part of their world," I explained hearing gasps, "Then, I fell through sticks and thorns until I've smashed into a tree and collapsed to the ground. I landed on my arm in the process.."
After I answered Bloom's question, I nervously shudder as the hospital looms overhead.
"Hannah, it's going to be okay," Dad reassured, "We will be by your side."
I lightly nod my head at the same time as we strode inside.
Dad sat me down as he walked over to the receptionist to sign me in. Mom took the seat to my right and Bloom sat to Mom's right.
After Dad signed me up, he took the chair to my left. I'm shivering and shaking when the sound of a crying baby barged into the waiting room.
"Hannah!" the voice of a little girl called to me, "What happened?" she asked pointing to my scars and Dad's cape wrapped around my arm.
"Hi, Rosemary," I greeted sweetly smiling, "I tripped and fell, but I'll be okay," I answered as I look to Mom, Bloom, and Dad, "How are you and your family?"
"I'm sorry, Hannah. I hope you feel better soon," Rosemary answered sympathetically, "My baby brother had to get a shot in his arm."
I hesitated, "Ooh..shots are the worst.."
Rosemary nodded, "Mmhm. The needle was this long!" she holds up her index fingers to the size of a football.
I gape at her; Mom and Dad grab my hands as Rosemary's mother raised her voice, "Rosemary! What do you think you're doing, traumatizing the princess!" she turns to us and apologizes, "I'm sorry your majesties."
Mom raised her hand, "No worries, dear. Rosemary was only exaggerating the size of the needle."
I took a deep breath as Rosemary narrowed her eyes.
"I'm sorry I scared you, miss.."
"You don't need to worry, Rosemary," I grabbed her hand and smiled sweetly, "It's alright-" I am interrupted by a male voice booming throughout the room.
We turn our heads to see the doctor standing in the doorway. Mom and Dad help me up and began walking me to the doctor; Bloom follows close behind.
I make a quick glance back to Rosemary. I notice her mouth two words to me: "Good luck," my eyes widen as I slowly face forward.
After the usual weight and height scaling, the doctor escorts us to another room; Bloom and I sat down on the hospital bed.
"Good evening, your excellencies. It's a tad too late to go strolling, don't you think?" the doctor greeted.
"We know, but as you can see-" Dad began motioning towards me, "This is an emergency."
I felt mildly uncomfortable as the doctor studies my scars, bruises, and broken arm.
"Ah. Alright, princess," he walks over to his computer, "Can you try moving your arm?"
I slowly straighten my arm, but I grimace as I place my arm back into the hand-made cast. He pushes up his glasses; heaves a "mmhm," and types in his computer.
I begin to relax a bit and stuffed my hands into my pockets.
"Hm?" I mutter to myself as I pulled out Mom's shawl.
My eyes start to fill with tears while I hold her precious item to my chest. I look over to Mom and Dad, then to Bloom. She is more anxious than the rest of us.
Without thinking, I hand the shawl over to Bloom.
"Here," I began, "To help give you comfort," I smile softly.
Bloom looks at me with tender eyes and reaches for the shawl. She takes the shawl and wraps it around the two of us.
"I think both of us need the comfort as of now," Bloom and I smile gently and pull each other into a tight hug.
The doctor slides in front of us, "I'm going to take Hannah for an x-ray of her arm."
Mom and Dad nod in agreement; Bloom and I reluctantly hop down. Bloom caught me before I fell to my face.
"May I go with Hannah, doctor?" Bloom asked worriedly.
"It would be better if one of your parents came along," he responded.
"I'll go with Hannah," Dad spoke up gently grabbing ahold of me.
The doctor nodded and Dad walked me to the radiology room, "Okay, Hannah, don't be frightened, but I want you to sit still as I take an x-ray of your bone," he explains pointing to a chair.
I look up to Dad; he nods and helps me to the seat.
I grab ahold of Dad's hand.
"Alright, gently place your arm on the table. Don't move your arm, until I say so," the doctor instructed.
I nod in understanding as he walks to the room next to the radiology room.
I look up to Dad, "How long do you think this will last?"
Dad looks at me with soft eyes, "It won't take long, sweetheart."
I glance over at the doctor. He catches my gaze.
"Don't worry, Princess. I got the results," he walks over carrying the results.
"Is it broken?" I worriedly asked squeezing Dad's hand.
The doctor stared at me for a moment, then tilted his head towards Dad, "She has a fractured bone. She will have to wear a cast for at most ten weeks," he explained as we returned to the hospital room.
"Is Hannah going to be okay?" Bloom blurted out as we entered the room.
The doctor held out his hand, "She'll be alright," he turns to Mom and Dad, "I'll be applying the the arm cast," he then turns to me, "Hannah, you have the opportunity to choose what color cast you want or I will pick for you."
I stood there for a moment; smiled sweetly and tilted my head, "The color doesn't matter to me, doctor."
He nods and heads toward his desk; he pulls out a neon green bandage; a arm cast; and a arm hoister.
I flinch and shut my eyes tight as the doctor wraps the bandage around the cast. I bite my lips and dig my face into Dad's chest when he he slid the hoister on my arm and over my head.
"There you go, Princess!" he exclaims clapping his hands, "That wasn't so bad, was it?"
I look into his eyes while clinging onto Dad; I nod as I'm trying to hold back tears.
"Thank you, doctor," Dad spoke up, "We'll be on our way," Dad thanked when we stepped out into the hall.
"I'm so glad I didn't have to get a shot back there!" I breathed a sigh of relief.
The receptionist spoke up, "He didn't need a blood test for you, miss."
We abruptly stopped, "Wait..really?" I curiously asked.
She nodded, "That is correct."
We nod in understanding as we leave the hospital.
"That was..that was nerve-racking.." Bloom spoke up.
"It really was!" I nodded in agreement as we walked home into the sunset.
