WARNING: Attempted non-con!

Marie's eyes widened in a stunned look. Edd is her destined partner, her mate.

'There are individuals who were born with a bond that binds them to their apparent soul mate. These individuals can feel each other's emotions and have a very strong connection. However, they do not necessarily have to love each other: there are mates who can hate each other, but once you find your destined partner, you cannot leave their side.''

That was what came to her mind about it. According to her father, it was just a legend, since it is not very common for destined couples to meet. They can have an age difference or be born at different times, and that they are of the same age is a very big coincidence.

He had to be joking, a cruel prank. Yes, that was definitely it. She pulled her hand away from Edd's grasp, eyeing him warily.

"You must be kidding." She shook her head. "You're just trying to make fun of me."

"Marie-"

"Why now? After everything I did, you should hate me. Is it because you know I'm an Omega? Is that it? You want to take advantage now that you are the only one who knows?" She asked with a lump in her throat.

"No! I'm really telling the truth," he looked at his palm. "I ... tried to ignore it, and it worked up to a point. But then that day..." he looked up. "The connection grew stronger."

"What connection? I don't feel anything." She shook her head again, slowly backing away. "That day you only offered me a hand and that's it."

Edd frowned.

"You're telling me you don't feel anything now?" He took a few steps forward. "Bullshit. Ever since that day you haven't been able to stop thinking about me, haven't you?"

Yes.

"No," she quickly denied.

"Having me around didn't cause you anything?" He continued approaching.

Yes

"No."

"Am I provoking you now?"

A thousand times yes

"No."

"Then why are you running?"

"Well obviously you're bugging me."

"Do you want me to walk away?"

No.

"Yes."

Edd stopped, cocking his head.

"The connection intensified when we had an intimate moment," he rambled with his distant gaze. His eyes came back her, riveting on her as if he'd had a revelation. "Please. Allow me to kiss you."

"Huh?" Her heart raced. Her recoil had driven her into a tree, and he was very close to her. He had her cornered.

"Marie. Let me kiss you, please."

It's not like she had a choice, he was too close to her. She could practically feel his breath on her face. The heat from his body emanating through his clothing was breathtaking, making her shiver. Marie managed a slight nod before he leaned in and closed the distance between them in a soft kiss. He was slow, without crossing the line, and also inquisitive, seeking her to respond. And she did. The moment he broke the kiss to give her a breath, she clung to his shoulders, reaching out and locking lips with him again, and Edd lost control. He wanted more from her.

Much more.

Marie could barely moan in surprise when he opened her mouth with his tongue, accepting the intrusion and dancing with her. Double Dee kissed her with passion, wanting to convey her desire, feel her. He pressed his body to hers, using the tree trunk for support. He wanted to be filled with her, to melt into her scent, to contaminate himself with her. One his hands grasped her waist, while the other, more daring, lowered to her buttocks and squeezed them. Her kiss was ambrosia, the only thing he needed in this world. He enjoyed how she was actively participating, the sounds she made; it was driving him crazy.

"Marie, Marie," he muttered as they parted for air, a trickle of spit connecting their mouths. He returned to seek her contact, leaving kisses on her cheeks and her jaw.

The girl's heart was hammering hard against her chest and pounding in her ears. She was sure he could hear her heartbeat. She was holding onto his forearm, and her other hand tangled her fingers in his hair under his hat. Edd growled close to her ear, and she felt a whipping pleasure run through her as his mouth touched a soft spot on her. She was letting out those meow-like moans that turned him on so much.

"I want to possess you," the beta whispered, aware that his desire for her was already too evident, and licked the space of skin on her neck that her necklace could not cover. Marie responded with a purr, rubbing their crotches together. When she realized what she had just done, and that she was starting to get wet too, she shoved him away, immediately covering herself with her hands.

"I'm sorry," she gasped with flushed cheeks, covering her chest and neck, even though he hadn't touched her there.

"Don't. I'm the one who has to be sorry, I completely forgot my surroundings; this is neither the time, nor the appropriate place for something like that." He regulated his breath, hoping it was enough for his desire to drop. A little more and he would have made her his in that place, something he did not want, at least not until she had expressed her consent. "Anyway, it was proof enough that we are meant to be."

"What are you talking about? That was nothing," she said stubbornly.

Edd scowled at her. "You were active in that kiss; you even kissed me back," he pointed out.

"Maybe you're just a good kisser," the blue haired girl excused herself, shrugging.

Double Dee's serious demeanor completely changed to a flirtatious one. "I am?" He asked smugly and with a half-smile.

Marie made a sound of frustration. "I said maybe! I can't tell if you are or not."

Instead, Edd grinned, taking her chin and contouring her lips with his thumb. "That's something we can improve upon with practice." The scandalous look she gave him was enough to let out a chuckle. "You look so beautiful flushed." He reached out with both hands and cupped her cheeks. If she was already blushing, now she was a tomato. She grabbed both wrists and lowered them, making him just grab her by the shoulders. He continued to watch her in such an intense way that she made her inside her collapse. Why did he have to be like this? Why her?

"You're only like this because of this stupid connection." Double Dee looked at her extremely confused.

"What are you talking about?"

"You say you want to be with me, but that's just the connection that causes sexual attraction. If we didn't have it, you'd never want to be with someone like me." She slipped out of his grasp, her sparkling eyes filled with water.

The man frowned. "You can't be certain of my feelings."

"Why would you want to be in love with the person who made your life hell when we were children?"

"You said it; we were children. You're no longer like that, you've changed."

Marie nodded sadly. "Yeah, you're right. I've changed. Now I am a useless, weak Omega that is any subgender's doormat; an Omega whose sole purpose is to bring an Alpha's cubs into the world." Tears already leaked from her eyes, sliding freely down her cheeks.

"No, Marie, don't say that." With a thumb he wiped off the trail of salt water on her skin. "You are more than just an Omega. You are not useless, and you are certainly not weak; I've seen what you can do. And I don't want to make you feel that way. Hell, I would do anything to make you feel the opposite." He cupped her face again, looking into her eyes. "Please, all I'm just asking is for you to give me a chance."

She took his words into account, but her insecurities and what had been instilled in her echoed in her mind, and she took a step back, shaking her head. "I'm sorry." And preventing him from saying anything else, she took off running, not paying attention to his screams calling her to come back, not seeing him take off his hat, kick a rock, and curse in frustration and anger.

She just ran all the way to her house, closing her door and leaning against it. Her face was red, she couldn't stop crying so her eyes were puffy and her makeup was staining large dark circles, and her breathing was agitated. She just hoped no one would see her like this.

"Marie Samantha Kanker!"

She gasped and turned scared to the voice and there was May, laughing at her little joke.

"Gotcha," she commented between laughter, but she stopped when she noticed her state. "Hey, are you okay? What happened?"

The Omega only let out a sob and ran up the stairs with her sister on her heels. She managed to lock herself in before she reached her, hearing the urgent knocks against the door. "Marie! Open the door! Did someone do something to you?"

"I want to be alone!" She sobbed, going to crawl under the covers on the bed. When the pounding stopped, she was finally able to calm down a bit, drowning her crying into the pillow. It wasn't long when she heard a thud coming from outside, and the moment she decided to look in the direction she was coming from; May suddenly came flying in through the open window.

"What the hell, Pinocchio head?!" She exclaimed stunned, using a nickname she gave her when they were children.

The blonde beta had landed on her feet smoothly, bending her knees. "What?" She asked casually, reincorporating.

"How the hell did you get here?"

There was nothing to lean on to climb outside, except for a peach tree which, if her calculations were correct, was about fifteen feet away. There is no way she could use it for support.

"I used the tree for support," her sister replied.

"...How?"

"Big Ed taught me a trick," she shrugged, walking towards her. "Now, are you going to tell me what happened?"

Ed and Eddy were at the latter's house. Taking advantage of the fact that his parents were not at home, he raided the refrigerator and placed beers in a small cooler. So they went to his room to enjoy them while they waited for a third party.

"Lumpy, give me a cold one," Eddy said from his place on his bed.

Ed, who was in the chair next to the cooler, took out a can different from the others, shook it and threw it to the shorter one, who caught it with great skill. When he opened it, he was startled to be savagely splashed with what was soda, and not beer. He glared at Ed in irritation as he heard him laugh at his joke.

"Hey, Ed."

The big man stopped laughing to look at him intrigued. "Yeah, Eddy?"

"Fuck you."

"Okay, Eddy."

In their game time, Double Dee entered the room, slamming the door behind him. He was visibly frowning and was doing breathing exercises to stay calm.

"Uh oh, someone doesn't seem pleased," the shorter one commented, getting the man with the beanie to shoot him an annoyed look.

"Did she reject you or what?" Ed asked.

"What do you think?" He replied sarcastically.

Edd went to throw himself face down on Eddy's bed before turning to look at the ceiling.

"Oh no. Ed: a beer for the fallen soldier," he paused to face him seriously. "A real one."

"Save them, Eddy. I don't want anything," he murmured with his arm covering his eyes.

"Hey, you're gonna bring the whole place down with that mood," Eddy complained, taking off his ruined T-shirt to wipe the soda off.

"I just don't get it. I gave her all proves necessary, I explained my feelings... Why must she be so stubborn?"

"Because she's a Kanker, that's why. They always believed they were better than others."

"I don't know about that, Eddy. May was the one who wanted to start things with me, but for that she apologized for the past," Ed spoke up. "Maybe you just have to let her come to you."

Edd remained thoughtful, remembering that Marie was apparently tormented by the guilt of her former self. The shorter one just laughed, going to stand in front of the full-length mirror and flexing his muscles in his reflection.

"That won't be difficult, Sockhead." He smiled smugly. We are alphas after all; everyone wants an Alpha. Even other alphas," he whispered under his breath. "We are practically studs."

"I must remind you, Eddy, that I am not an Alpha," he mumbled.

"Damn it, stop ruining your options!" He snapped. "So what if you're not one? You can get any beta or omega you want anyways. Why settle for Marie?"

"Because we are meant to be, Eddy!" Edd finally got out of bed. He met the astonished gaze of his friends, and continued. "If I am going to fall deeply in love with someone, then I am going to take this unique opportunity that the world gave me by placing my mate in my life, and that is Marie. I don't care what happened in our past, I love her, and I want her to be my life partner." He sat down again, looking at the ground in melancholy, with a strong grip on his knees. "Lord knows I want it."

The next day in class, things were tense between the two of them; Double Dee keep on staring at her as usual and now Marie understood why. She tried not to make eye contact with him, which was difficult since a third player had entered the field. If Edd wasn't watching her, then she would find Kevin, though his eyes didn't show the same intensity as Edd.

She chose to go the safe way: ignore them both. She pretended that they didn't exist, didn't look at them, and neither didn't speak to them. When classes were over she always ran away so fast it was comical, and in case they caught up with her, she used Lee as her shield, that always worked, they really didn't want to mess with her.

Although using her older sister raised suspicions on her part of what was happening, she managed to leave her uncertain; she didn't need more drama than she already had.

That method lasted for at least a week and a half, until guilt consumed her. She shouldn't be avoiding them without confronting the facts, at least not Edd. What May said echoed in her head.

She was speechless when she told her what happened, but she came to herself quickly and reassured her, saying something very important.

'If you can't let go of the past because you don't expect him to forgive you, then how can you forgive yourself?'

It was true. She had rejected him for that, her old self still lingered in her mind, reminding her that she was and is a horrible person. She didn't like Kevin, not romantically, which was reason not to want to give him a chance; but Double Dee is her destined partner, which made the situation different. If it that connection that he insisted they have was that attracted him to her, the least she could do was apologize for her actions.

She decided she would do it after school, free from distractions.

While still in her thoughts, her older sister watched her from the corner of her eye. She was very quiet, but at least she was eating her lunch. However, there was a distinctive about her that made her stand out more than usual.

"Is something wrong, Marie?"

She went back to the present and looked at Lee.

"Nothing. Why you ask?" She took a bite of her apple pie.

"Your pheromones are unstable." She frowned. "It's as if, in a second they are at their maximum potential but then they disappear. Although the perfume persists and is somewhat confusing," she added.

May looked at Marie with concern and she stopped chewing, looking down at her body and then touching her neck.

"I don't feel bad, nothing out of the ordinary," she answered confused.

"How long ago was your heat period?" She pressed.

"Almost a month ago. Why are you asking me this? I'm not supposed to go into heat for another two months… a month and a half," she corrected herself. "I'm out of danger."

"But what if you do?" She insisted, "You're an Omega, you're an easy target here."

Marie stood up slapping her palms on the table. "I'm not some wimp who needs to be protected because she doesn't know how to handle herself," she said angrily.

"And is that why you always come to me when you need to get those guys off of you?" Her silence was her reply. "You think that I wouldn't notice? Do you think I'm May?"

"Hey!" Protested the blonde, who had only been watching the exchange in silence. "Leave me out of this!"

"If you can fend for yourself, why didn't you get rid of them, huh?" Lee continued, ignoring May. Marie still didn't answer, making the biggest sigh in frustration. "Forget it. We will go to the infirmary when we finish eating."

"No," the bluenette said quickly, grabbing her backpack. "I won't go. I feel good! It's not like that time." She shifted her backpack over her shoulder. "Nothing'll happen."

"Marie!" Lee called when her sister started to walk away from her. She screamed her name again, but the girl still didn't listen. She used her last option. "GET BACK HERE, DAMN IT!"

That made her stop, staying static in place. Lee's voice also caught the attention of the students in the yard; some shuddering in their places while others searched for the cause of it. Her command held Marie still, looking unable to take another step forward, but she shook her head, resisting her voice and disobeying her sister, continuing on her way anyway until she entered the building.

She went straight to the art room, finding Mr. Hans eating his lunch there. It was no wonder, as far as she knew, he didn't mingle with other teachers, but it was a surprise for him to see her there.

"Marie! What are you doing here so early?" He greeted. There was still about 15 minutes to go before the warning bell rings, and another 10 minutes until class starts. It was plenty time.

"I wanted to clear my mind," she snapped, hearing no response and going to her place in front of a canvas in mid-work.

She didn't want to spoil what she had already done with her out-of-control emotions, so she went to find a new one to put in its place. This was mainly made up of the color red and its shades. She believed that she was painting a fire.

"Something must be bothering you to draw that," she heard Mr. Hans speak alongside her. "One's works express their feelings."

Marie sighed. She knew her anger was going to be evident. She put the brush in the glass of water and turned to her teacher.

"I just hate my sister's overprotectiveness. She said that my scent was out of control and that it could put me in danger if we weren't going to see what the cause was," she confessed, knowing she could trust him, "I know she's just taking care of me; it's her job. But I wish she didn't remind me that I'm useless at every moment."

The man pursed his lips in a straight line, placing a hand on the girl's shoulder.

"Being less strong doesn't make you useless. Not everything is brute force; you have your strengths in other areas, like art," he advised.

"Sadly, art won't save me from being approached by other alphas," she said with a sad smile.

The professor pondered for a moment, thinking what he would say. "What exactly is the problem with your scent?"

Marie just shrugged. "I just know it got a little intense, like when I get in heat. But if it's my heat, I don't feel anything now, that's why I don't want to go to the infirmary."

"Well, I think your sister wasn't wrong with having you checked... it's just a precaution, you know?" As he spoke, he dragged the hand that he had placed on her shoulder up to her face, brushing the lock of hair from her eye. "You are beautiful after all, the most beautiful Omega I have ever seen, and the alphas would not hesitate to attack you." The atmosphere changed, Marie noted. His touch had been inappropriate, and the smile he offered him was not a comforting one, but rather one that you would do when you are seeing the most coveted in the world. The hand that touched her hair moved down from her to her cheek and cupped it, running a thumb across her lips. "I would hate to have my favorite student touched."

"Know what? I think I should go to the infirmary." She got up from her seat, her voice had sounded strange with nervousness. "You know, in case something is really wrong with me."

She started backing toward the door and the teacher followed her, nodding.

"Exactly, but if you say your scent is on the air then I think you should suppress it first, or they might pounce on you," and then he did just that, pinning her against the desk. The door was closed, no one would see them.

He had pushed her down, holding her wrists against the wood. The things that were on top of her, some of her fell to the floor and others were stabbing her in the back of her while she was spread out on the surface of the table, and she began to squirm trying to get rid of him.

"What are you doing?! Let go of me!"

"No, no, I can't do that. I have to help you suppress your scent." The man's voice seemed lost, as if he was not in the moment despite the force he was exerting. "It's for your own good, you'll see."

He settled between her legs and held her wrists above her head so that he could grab them with one hand, applying greater force to the grip of the hand she used to draw. Marie kept shaking and moving her legs trying and failing to kick him off. If he kept squeezing, she was sure her hand would break.

"I swear I'm going to-"

Suddenly, it was as if he had touched an off button the moment his free hand grasped a breast through the clothing. Her voice fell silent and she stared at him in shock, not quite understanding what had just happened.

"As far as I know, omegas can control their scent when they are satisfied." He reached under her blouse and squeezed the skin from her braless chest. "Your classmates will arrive soon, so we must do this quickly, and then you can go."

Her body didn't respond, as if it had been petrified in its place. She tried to speak, but her words didn't come out. She didn't understand how this could be happening, being betrayed like this. And while her so appreciated Mr. Hans groped her and lifted her blouse to reveal her breasts, silent tears began to flow from her eyes. Why her?

"I would have liked to have helped you that time if I knew what was happening... When it's over, everything will be fine." He caught her pained expression, and his eyes looked at her strangely. "Why are you looking at me like that? I am helping you; alphas are dangerous, they would do worse things to you."

She didn't want him to help her; she wanted him to stop touching her. She wasn't even wet, for God's sake! She felt her hand on her belt and looked down. She should have listened to Lee; she should have stayed with her sisters. She was a fool. She wasn't strong enough.

I'm sorry

While she was silent and the man unbuckled his belt, she expected the worst with her body still numb. She felt degraded, contaminated, and disgusted; she wouldn't be surprised if her father looked at her with more revulsion than he already did after this.

And then the door opened.

Mr. Hans jumped and turned, not expecting someone to enter. Marie sadly looked away in the direction of the entrance and saw him. Edd had arrived, panting a little like he had run there, watching the scene in front of him with wide eyes. Marie remembered those times he found her in the screening room and in the library with Kevin. He would always show up at inopportune times, but this time she would see him as a knight in shining armor from fairy tales.

Still unable to say anything, her body seemed to have regained mobility and with that she shook her torso, shocking everyone out of the shock and a single sentence was uttered.

"Get your filthy hands off her."
