Hi everyone! I am back with a new multi-chapter fic! I am so excited to share this with you. I came across a prompt on secretwriterkay's hunger games list and I loved it. It was posted by darveyandsuits and I'm so happy you did. I absolutely love the movie "What a Girl Wants" and I have been dying to see a fic like this, so I decided to just write it! This is just a little intro to the actual story, but I hope you still enjoy it (even if it is short).

"Once upon a time... I should start the story with that, right?" The young girl giggled in response to her mother. "Josie, don't laugh at me! I'm trying to tell you the story," Donna teased as she tussled with the sheets.

For seventeen years, it was always just the two of them and that's exactly how Josie liked to spend her birthday. Every year, her mother would tell her a story. The story was always the same one about the way two people fell in love. Even today, on her seventeenth birthday, she still was all ears.

Her mother continued on with the tale of a boy and girl. She spoke about a rainy day, when a young girl at NYU was running through the streets of New York, trying to get home.

"Racing through the streets, the girl could barely see... until it was too late. They had already crashed into one another. Both the boy and girl kept apologizing as they gathered their belongings off the ground, until their eyes met, and silence overcame them. In that moment, they both felt something otherworldly."

At this part in the story, there was always a sense of bittersweetness coming from Donna. She swiftly put herself back together again and continued.

"She learned his name was Harvey from their introductions. He invited her inside his apartment just around the corner to dry off. Normally, she wouldn't go anywhere with a stranger, but he was different. When they got inside, he gave her some dry clothes and they talked until the rain had gone away. She learned he was also a student at NYU, but on the pre-law track. He was devilishly handsome and extremely easy on the eyes. The conversation flowed so naturally that they hadn't even noticed it stopped raining. They parted eventually, but decided to see each other again, still needing to give his t-shirt back."

Donna continued to talk about how over time, they fell in love. They saw each other every day and were rarely apart. By the end of junior year, they were living together. They had become best friends. There was nothing that could come between them, or so the girl thought.

"As graduation came and went, Harvey had become busy. Harvard was his next step, and whether she liked to admit it or not, that worried her. One evening while he was away, his mentor, Daniel Hardman, had visited. She could tell there was something he wasn't telling her and that was when he handed her the letter. It was from Harvey."

"It was too hard to say in person, so he said it in a note. He couldn't be with her anymore and he needed to move on. While it pained her, she quickly packed up her belongings and left. Though their relationship was a bitter memory, at least one good thing came from it. Nine months after they parted, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl."

Donna got emotional at this part like she always did. Wiping away the tears, she whispered, "and the two of them lived happily ever after, because not every story needs a knight in shining armor. Happy birthday, sweet girl." Donna placed a kiss on her daughter's forehead as she said goodnight.

The young girl smiled and began to speak. "Like I tell you every year, Mom: That's not the end, no end ever is. Just a new beginning."

This is where she would normally go to sleep, but something was still keeping her up. "Mom?" Josie asked. "What's his full name?"

Donna was taken aback by her question. "What?"

"I know the story isn't some made up one. I'm seventeen now, and I want to know what my father's real name is," she demanded. She never did this, especially seeing how upset her mother got at the end of the story every time, but she was getting ready for college and needed to know.

Donna paused to consider her options but ultimately gave into her daughter's request. "Harvey Specter. His name is Harvey Specter."
