The Shinigami's Life in the Yokai Apartment

It was a nice and sunny day in Takano City, the people in the city were walking through the cities doing their own thing and minding their own thing.

Then a Shoji appeared out of nowhere before it opened up, and flying out of it was a black butterfly with dark pink edges on the bottom wings, and walking out of it while stepping on a utility pole was a person before the Shoji closed behind him.

He appears to be 15 to 16 years old with short spiky brown hair and has red eyes. He was wearing a black kimono with white undergarments underneath and wore a red scarf around his neck. He also carries a word on his obi sash.

It was a katana with a red handle, the guard is a circle shape with fire patterns engraved in it.

This is Souma Ryu.

Ryu was looking at the city and then he breathed in the air here.

"So this is the World of the Living. Sure is different then the Soul Society." Ryu said.

Ryu then notices the butterfly flying in front of him before he lets it land on his finger.

This black butterfly is a Jigokuchō which acts as his messenger and guide.

"Thanks for bringing me here. You're free to go back now." Ryu told the Jigokucho before it flew away. "Now then, I think I should contact this shop I was told about to let them know I'm here."

He then heard a ringing sound before he brought out a smartphone which brought a map and showed a red dot as it appeared in an area that was close to him.

"Figures a Hollow just had to show up the moment I arrived. Well, better get to work." Ryu said as he suddenly vanished.

Inaba Yushi, a teenage high school student was running for his life as a girl with a chain on her chest was following him as they were being chased by a monster right now.

Yushi had just graduated from middle school and the high school of his choosing had a dormitory. A few years ago he lost his parents in a car accident, and young Yushi was forced to live with his uncle's family. And well they had treated him well, Yushi always felt like an outsider in their house, and so he made a promise to himself, once he had graduated from middle school, he would move out of his uncle's home and live in his high school's dormitory to begin his first step into becoming an independent young adult.

But unfortunately for him the school's dorm was set on fire and was burned down and would take about six months to rebuild. Refusing to let his plans backfire like this, Yushi set out to find an apartment to live in but sadly he wasn't able to find one that was affordable and most of the landlords wouldn't accept him due to him still being a minor.

But thankfully, fate was kind to the young Yushi, he was able to find an affordable apartment and one that was willing to take him in.

The apartment was called Kotobuki-sō, and it was a place that was completely out of this world. The Manor happens to be an apartment where humans, yokai, spirits, and other supernatural beings dwell and rest in.

The reason for that is because Kotobuki-sō had a barrier protecting the apartment grounds from being very stable, making it possible for other dimensions to connect and for supernatural beings to become tangible and corporeal to humans.

It took some time, but eventually Yushi was able to get used to living in this so-called Yokai Apartment.

But when he was working at his part-time job, he came across this girl who happens to be a ghost as she was running from the monster and after seeing it, he grabs onto the girl's hand and they run away together.

But the monster still stops in its pursuit for the girl as it smashes through a wall as Yushi and the ghost girl stops and turns to it.

The monster appeared to be a giant muscular man, but was colored black and the legs were covered in red fur and were based around an ox's legs and has a white bone masked with sharp teeth and has ox horns.

The Ox Monster soon roared as it chased after Yushi and the ghost girl and both of them ran away.

The ghost girl then falls to the ground as Yushi stops as he turns to her and sees that the Ox Monster is coming closer.

"Take my hand!" Yushi said as he and the ghost girl reached out their hands but the girl's hand passed through his own. 'That's right. I can't touch her…'

The Ox Monster soon reaches out to the ghost girl as she screams and Yushi closes his eyes to prevent himself from seeing the horror that was about to happen…

The sound of one drawing their sword was heard and Yushi heard the monster screaming in pain.

Yushi opened his eyes and saw someone hearing a black kimono and with a sword in hand had slash on the Ox Monster as its arm was cut off, and it was Ryu as he looked up at the monster as it steps away and placed a hand on its now severed arm.

"H-How are you here?!" The Ox Monster shouted in both shock and fear.

Ryu then turns to Yushi as he was looking at him in awe before he looks down at the ghost girl as he gently smiles at her.

"Are you alright?" Ryu asked and the ghost girl blinked before she nodded. "That's good to hear. Don't worry, I'll take care of this big brute."

(Cue Bleach theme song - Number One)

Ryu then turns to the Ox Monster as he gives it a battle hardened look.

"Now then, I hope you're ready for me, Hollow." Ryu said.

"Hmph! Don't think I'll go down so easily, Shinigami!" The Ox Monster or Hollow as it was called exclaimed as he threw a punch at Ryu.

"Shinigami?" Yushi mutters.

Ryu dodges the punch by vanishing as the Hollow's fist smashed into the ground.

The Hollow soon pulled its fist out of the ground as it looked around for Ryu before he suddenly reappeared above the Hollow as he swung his sword at its head.

The Hollow was able to block his sword using its horn which surprised Ryu at first before the Hollow throws another punch at him before he dodges it by vanishing once again as he now appears behind the Hollow before it turns to him.

"Think these horns of mine are just for show? Hardly, these babies are my strongest weapon and they're more of a match against that puny sword of yours." The Hollow stated and Ryu smirks to hear that.

"Oh? Then let's put that to the test!" Ryu said as he assumed his stance.

The Hollow roars as he charges at Ryu while aiming his swords and Ryu swings his sword at its horns which brought them to a bladed lock as they stood on even ground.

"Impressive! You're a lot stronger than you look!" The Hollow said.

"Oh trust me, I get that a lot!" Ryu said as he pushed the Hollow's horns back before he aimed his hand at it. "Hado #31! Shakkaho!"

An orb of red energy appeared in front of Ryu's hand as it fired on the Hollow's body which pushed it back as it skids on the ground.

"Grrr…Dirty trick!" The Hollow exclaimed as it glared at Ryu but soon saw that he was now gone. "What the…Where did he go?!"

"Right on top of you." Said Ryu as he was now standing on top of the Hollow's head.

"How did you…?" The Hollow said as he was shocked by this.

Ryu then slashed his sword on the Hollow's horns several times before it managed to shake him off its head as he landed on the ground.

"Please! Like that would work on…" The Hollow started before it noticed a small chunk falling off his head before he saw the cracks on his precious horns which shocked him. "Nani?! Impossible!"

"What was that about your horns being harder than my puny sword?" Ryu said in a mocking tone which enrages the Hollow.

"Damn you!" The Hollow charges at Ryu to attack him once again.

Ryu soon sheaths his sword as he waited for the right moment, and then he saw his opening before vanishes and appeared a few feet in front of the hollow's head before he draws his sword and slashes through both its horns and mask before he lands behind the Hollow as it falls to the ground and vanishes away.

Both Yushi and the ghost girl were in awe by Ryu's victory against the Hollow.

Ryu then turns his attention to the ghost girl as he walks to her.

"Now, all that's left is you." Ryu said as he raised his sword which worried Yushi.

"W-Wait…" Yushi mutters.

Ryu then gently taps the hilt of his sword on the girl's forehead and then blue energy appeared between it and a mark appeared on her forehead as Ryu removed his sword.

"Don't worry. The Soul Society is a peaceful place where you can be safe." Ryu told her.

Then a pool of blue energy appeared beneath the girl as she sank into it with a peaceful look on her face, and then a Jigokucho appeared before it flew away.

Yushi was once again awed by that as it looked so beautiful to him.

Ryu then swings his sword to his left and to his right before he sheaths it. He then notices Yushi looking at him and Ryu blinks before he walks up to him and pinches his cheek before he slaps it away.

"Hey! What was that for?!" Yushi said in shock as Ryu looked at his hand in shock.

"Huh? So you were able to see me. I thought it was just my imagination." Ryu said as he looked at Yushi.

"W-What do you mean by that? And who are you anyway? That thing said that you were a Shinigami." Yushi said.

"Sorry, but I don't have time to explain. Right now, I need to meet with someone. Also, if you want my advice, I strongly suggest that you forget what you saw." Ryu said before he jumps and walks on air itself which surprised Yushi once again.

"What the heck was that about?" Yushi said in wonder.

It will be set after the 1,000 Year Blood War arc, and in the 10-year time skip where Rukia had become the Captain of her Division.
