"Silent... Why is everything so quiet...?"
The silence was suddenly broken by a loud beeping, and the teenage assassin jolted awake. His eyes wide as he started looking around the room.
"What...? I was asleep...? And it's... It's morning? I don't even remember coming home... Was yesterday a dream? I don't forget things..." He spoke softly.
He couldn't think, the missing memories of the night before messed with him.
"What... What day is it?" He questioned.
He started looking around, more questions filling his head.
"Where's my phone? It would tell me the date..." He mumbled.
He stood up and started looking around, trying to remember where he put it.
"Why can't I- why can't I remember?"
"Calm down." A voice spoke.
"Huh? Who's there?"
"No one but you."
"What...?"
"I'm just a voice."
"No, no no no I don't hear voices, I'm not crazy." Seth spoke.
He started shaking, looking around frantically. He didn't know what was happening, and the confusion terrified him. He hadn't been so lost since he was little.
"This is a dream... It's the Hollow Night and someone knocked me out, and I'm having a nightmare." Seth spoke.
"Oh, are you?"
"Shut up..."
He found his phone and looked at the date, shaking.
"This has to be a dream... It has to be..." He softly spoke, his voice becoming quiet.
He gripped his phone, and started shaking as he started for the door.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to play this out."
"You're not wearing your uniform..."
"I don't truly care, and I don't think they will either. And when I wake up it will be like it never happened."
Seth hurried out the door once he'd reached it and started walking, but then paused.
"Which way... Which way am I supposed to go?"
"Figure it out."
He started walking, but then paused upon finding the stairs, leading up.
"That's the wrong way..."
He turned and started off the other way, walking past his door and making a few steps further, when he started getting lightheaded. He leaned against the wall, and he started getting dizzy.
"What... Why... Am I..."
He looked around, trying to shake off the dizziness and lightheatedness.
"I... I'm tired..."
He tried to stand up straight and walk away, but his legs gave out and he hit the ground hard. He looked up.
"Guess its about time I... Woke up..."
He shut his eyes, letting darkness hide everything.
"What? Does anyone know what happened?"
"No, he just... Collapsed in front of his neighbor's door."
Hyde walked up to duo whom were talking not so quietly, curious as to what they were talking about. Or rather, who.
"What's going on?" Hyde asked.
"Oh, Kido-Kun!" Idara, the older of the two exclaimed.
Idara was a second year who always dyed her hair red, which looked good on her. She had bright blue eyes and wore gloves and leggings with her uniform, Makoa was younger, a first year who's normally really shy, she had short black hair and her eyes were brown. She was only really friends with Idara and one other person, and wouldn't really talk to many other people, but was one of the smartest in her class and was also known in her class for her beautiful voice for when she would sing. As rare as that was. The two were like sisters.
"Idara, who is he?" Makoa whispered.
"This is Hyde Kido." Idara said.
"Oh, Hyde." Makoa said.
"I... I don't really know how you two know my name..." Hyde said.
"We have a friend in common." Makoa said.
"Yo! What are you three talking about? Where's Mr. Edgy guy?" A boy laughed.
Three boys walked up, a boy with red hair standing at the front with the other two, a brown haired boy with green eyes and a blonde haired boy with golden eyes stood behind him.
"He's not even here and you're picking on him..." Idara spoke in a low voice.
"I'm still a little lost..." Hyde said.
"Hey, so Edge didn't come to school today?" The red head asked.
Makoa hid behind Idara, and the red head laughed.
"A coward as always! Oh Makoa, you'll never change. But really, where is Edge?"
"Who are you talking about?" Hyde asked.
"That weird guy. There's only five people who he hangs out with and here is three out of five." the red head said.
"Can you not mess with him for a day?" Idara asked.
Carmine walked up, and Orie ran up shortly afterwards. Makoa looked really nervous.
"It's alright Makoa." Idara said.
"What's going on?" Orie asked.
"Yeah! And what are you three doing?" Carmine asked.
"They're crazy..." Makoa said quietly.
"What was that, you little bitch?" The blonde hissed.
He started after her and Makoa started squealing quietly.
"Back off." Hyde said.
"Or what? You and your group of freakshows will try and fight us?" the brown haired one asked.
"Yeah, and I think I can beat any one of you." Hyde said.
"Hyde, you shouldn't be getting into fights." Orie said.
Suddenly, there was the sound of the doors opening and silence throughout the school, followed by quiet murmurs.
"What's happening?" The red head asked.
Makoa slipped past and started on her way to the front.
"Huh? I thought you were at the hospital... What are you doing here? Are you feeling better?" Makoa asked.
"I don't really know how I'm feeling. The doctors kept saying that I needed to stay there, had to practically break out..." Seth spoke quietly.
Idara ran up.
"Are you alright? I heard about what happened, are you okay?" Idara asked.
Seth leaned against the wall, the voice wasn't quiet, but he didn't speak back to it. However, there were more voices now. He was scared of what would happen should he say anything about them, so he didn't say anything.
"I'll be alright."
"Yo! Edge is here!" The red head yelled.
"Shut the hell up!" Hyde snapped.
He punched the red head hard enough to throw him.
"Seth, are you okay? I haven't seen you since lunch yesterday." Hyde said.
"I... Don't remember... Oh yeah, he did show up." Seth thought.
"I'll be alright." Seth said.
The three boys ran off, no longer wanting to mess with them.
"That was a nice punch." Seth said.
Hyde smiled.
"Thanks!"
"Are you... Sure you're alright?" Carmine asked.
"Yeah." Seth said, "why?"
"You just complimented Hyde." Carmine said.
Seth laughed a little, and Hyde playfully punched Carmine's arm.
"Seth, I haven't heard you laugh in years, I'm glad that you're laughing." Makoa said.
"I'm glad you're happy, sis." Seth said.
"Sis?" Hyde asked.
"I haven't really introduced you all yet... Um... Hyde, Carmine, Orie, these two are Idara and Makoa." Seth said.
The two girls waved.
"I'm confused." Hyde said.
"I'll explain somewhere where the entire school isn't staring at me..." Seth said.
Hyde nodded, and the six of them went to an empty classroom and went to the far corner.
"Your... Sister?" Hyde asked.
"Well, technically not." Idara said.
"They know about the Hollow Night, and the Night Blade, when I was younger and I was... In that... Orphanage." Seth stopped for a second and cleared his throat, before he continued. "I met these two, I was mostly a lone wolf but Makoa kept getting picked on and me and Idara kept beating up the people who picked on her... Okay mostly Idara, I kept losing in those fights... But, we just got really close. They were adopted long before I managed to convince them to let me leave, but then the three of us all happened to start attending this school, and we recognized each other the second we saw each other."
"Okay, that explains a lot." Hyde said.
"What happened? Why were you late? Why are you still in your Hollow Night outfit? Why didn't we see you last night?" Orie asked.
"I... I can't remember." Seth said.
"You... Can't remember?" Hyde asked.
"Last night, pretty much all of yesterday is a blank. I thought I was dreaming when I woke up this morning, I have an eidetic memory but... I can't, I can't remember yesterday that well at all. Everything since I woke up has been messed up." Seth said.
"Eidetic memory?" Carmine asked.
"I don't forget things." Seth said.
"Okay." Carmine said.
"What would cause you to forget?" Hyde asked.
"I don't- I don't know. When I figure it out, I'm writing it down so I can erase the images of the fall from my memory, even if I lose my mind to do it." Seth said.
"Lose your mind?" Carmine asked.
"I wasn't going to mention that..." Seth said.
"Seth, what's going on? Are you okay?" Makoa asked.
Seth sighed.
"I'm hearing voices, at first it was just the one but now... Now there's a lot of them. I don't know if they're what's causing my memory loss, or if they're being created by the memory loss or by the thing that caused the memory loss, all I know is that they're there and there's more every second." Seth said.
"Did you tell the doctors?" Orie asked.
"Are you kidding? They'd never let me leave if I told them that I hear voices." Seth said.
"I don't like the idea of, out of all people, you running around with voices in your head." Carmine said.
"What doe- What does that mean?" Seth asked.
"You're a trained assassin! If these voices cause you to snap, there's no telling what could happen! And that's coming from me!" Carmine said.
"You're right..." Seth said.
"Thank you." Carmine said.
"If you're worried about what kind of threat I could be, this must be pretty serious." Seth said.
"Why did that sound like a mix between a compliment and a insult?" Carmine asked.
"You can only take it as one." Seth said.
"Very funny." Carmine said.
"Precisely." Seth said.
"So, are you going back?" Orie asked.
"After school, and if I try to fight... Drag me, because I don't really know what's happening in my head since this morning, and I don't care what I say later, make sure I get to the hospital and tell them everything if I don't." Seth said.
"Are you... Scared?" Hyde asked.
"Yes. I'm scared, but I don't know for sure what it is I'm scared of." Seth answered.
He looked nervous, and the fear was clear if you looked him in the eyes.
"I don't want to hear that I'm crazy..."
"Seth, I'm sure that they won't say that." Hyde said.
"Right, they'll use some clinical term instead of saying it how it is. But in the long run, I know that this means I'm losing my mind." Seth said.
The hours of school passed by, and eventually it was over. Hyde, Carmine, Orie, Makoa and Idara took Seth to the hospital, he sat alone in his room while the others spoke to the doctors.
"Hello?" A voice called.
"You're still there..." Seth said.
"I'm sorry, the others were too loud."
"Its alright... I'm glad you're still there, the other voices... I don't like them. They're crowding me, and they make me nervous... But you don't."
"I'm glad, though its probably because of how long you've heard me."
"Maybe, maybe it's because you're different. The other voices either want me to do something or want to taunt me, or scare me. But you just want to be there when I'm alone."
"You need a companion. Even if you're the only one who can hear that companion."
"I don't know why I wanted to come here, if they block the other voices they might block you out."
"Don't worry about that."
"I will worry about that. You're the only one who's been by my side nonstop, since that first night after the fall..."
"Don't cry."
"Huh? Who's out there?"
"Don't be scared, I won't hurt you."
"How can I trust that?"
"Because I want to be your friend."
The young boy sat on the dirt, covered in blood, mud and ashes. He looked around, looking for the source of the voice.
"Who are you?"
"I don't have a name."
"You don't have a name?"
"Yeah."
"But you need a name."
"I'd like to have a name."
"Do you want me to give you a name?"
"That'd be nice."
"Angel."
"I like that name, thank you."
"You're welcome."
"You're not very safe here..."
"I don't know where to go..."
"I'll give you directions to the nearest town."
"Really?"
"Of course."
"Angel... I'm scared... I haven't felt like this in so long... What happened? Do you know?"
"I'm afraid I don't. I just know that suddenly the other voices started appearing. I'm sorry."
"Its not your fault..."
"The others will probably be there soon."
"Yeah... Thanks for letting me know you're okay."
"No problem..."
The blonde from the group of bullies stood by the door, listening. A twisted smirk upon his face.
"...What the hell...? Angel... What's happening...?"
"I don't know... Stay calm, okay? Just stay calm."
"I'm... Trying... My... Head hurts... I... Feel nauseous... Angel... Help me..."
He passed out, and the blonde slipped away. Smiling.
So, this will be chaotic. Also, quick note. Angel wasn't created without evidence as in the beginning of Seth's arcade mode he says something suggesting that there is someone else there we don't know about, or that he's talking to the player. I hope you enjoyed chapter one of Memory. Bye!
Also, there may be a crossover later on? I'm considering mixing this with the Dream SMP. (Come on, if you know Under Night In-Birth and you know the Dream SMP, you have to be at least a little curious as to how our memory boys would interact.) And Servamp may be brought in at some point? (I mean, Licht as Seth's older brother just works... Plus imagine, the three black and white boys just hanging out.) Anyways, see ya next chapter.
