GH4 16: Halloween-Party Of 4.
Max, Justin and i sat on a sofa in our pajamas as we watched the rest of the movie, Hocus Pocus, with me sitting in the middle between the boys, the now half-full bowl of popcorn in my lap, and Olive sitting on the floor.
I wore my white long sleeve night-gown that stopped at the calf of my legs, and white bunny slippers.
Justin wore a white short sleeve shirt with yellow sleeves, a black neck-line, yellow pajama pants, and he was barefoot. His pajamas looked exactly like the ones Tommy Doyle wore in the 1978 slasher film, 'Halloween'.
Max wore a blue long sleeve pajama shirt, blue pajamas, and white socks.
"May i ask why you're wearing the pajamas of Tommy Doyle from Halloween?" I asked.
"Oh, these are not the actual PJs from the movie, these were designed by Max's Mom on my request. She's a designer." Justin explained.
"Oh. 'Nough said." I said before Justin and i went back to watching the movie.
Max then got up from the sofa, went behind it, and hid behind one of the window curtains.
Justin and Olive's eyes were glued to the television screen. Mine were too, but i had peripheral vision and was able to see Max get up from the sofa, go behind it, and hide behind one of the window curtains.
Justin and Olive, however, were so entuned into the movie, they didn't notice that Max was no longer on the couch.
"Justin. Justin." A spooky voice, i can only assume belonged to Max, called from behind the sofa.
Justin broke his focus on the TV. "Who's that?" He asked, looking at the spot of the sofa where Max use to sit and see that he was now gone. "Max? Where are you?" Called the 10-year old boy as he looked around the room for any sign of trace of his friend. But there wasn't one.
"AAHH!" Max screamed in terror as he jumped out from behind the window curtain, startling me, Justin and Olive. "It's the Pumpkin-heads!"
"Max, what's going on?" I asked as Justin and i turned to face Max.
"The Pumpkin-heads, they were standing out on the lawn and they stared at me through the window, i saw them." Max said.
"The Pumpkin-heads? What Pumpkin-heads?" I asked.
"The Pumpkin-heads. I saw them, i promise." Max said.
"No more zombie movies for you, man." Justin said.
"But it wasn't zombies, it was the Pumpkin-heads." Max said.
"Well, what did they look like?" I asked.
"Like the Pumpkin-heads. They had really scary faces." Max answered.
"You know what? I'll bet it's teenagers in costumes. They're just trying to scare you." I assured. there couldn't have been any kids our age, or younger, still out Trick-or-Treating, as the time for that was over. But i didn't put it past a group of teens to still be out this late at night, roaming the neighborhood in costumes, scaring the residences.
"Yeah. Teens can be real jerks this time of year." Justin added.
"Alright, alright. Why don't you two get back to watching the movie and Olive and will go outside and see who it is?" I suggested.
"But Charlotte...what if it's not teenagers?" Max asked.
"Max...it's teenagers, okay? They're just trying to scare you. So come sit back down on the sofa, finish watching the movie, and Olive and i will go check things out. Okay?" I said.
"Okay." Max said.
"Alright." I said before i handed Justin the bowl of popcorn, who instantly began to eat it, while Max made his way around the sofa. I got up and walked out of the living-room with Olive as Max sat back down on the couch and we went into the foyer and up to the front door where i unlocked and opened it and looked around outside, only yo see that there was no one in sight. I then closed the door back, re-locked it, and Olive and i headed back for the living-room. "There's no one out there." I said as we entered into the living-room and went over to the couch where i sat back down in the middle, rejoining the boys, while Olive sat back down on the floor.
...
Justin, Max, Olive and i were now in the kitchen at the table with a carved, topless Jack-o-Lantern on it, with a red candle, a lighter, and the pumpkin's top on the table. Olive stood on her hide-legs in one of the chairs, with her paws resting on the table. After finishing the movie, Hocus Pocus, we all went into the kitchen and carved a pumpkin into a Jack-o-Lantern.
I picked up the red candle and the lighter and used it to light the candle before putting it inside the Jack-o-Lantern, followed by putting the pumpkin's top onto it. "Okay. There we go." I said. I placed the lighter back on the table, picked up the now light Jack-o-Lantern, and Justin, Max, Olive, who jumped out of the chair, and i walked out of the kitchen and into the foyer.
"Black cats and goblins and broomsticks and ghosts. Dozens of witches with all of their hosts. You may think they scare me, you're probably right. Black cats and goblins on Halloween night." Max said.
"Oooh." I said.
"Can we just get back to watching the Disney Channel?" Justin asked.
"Alright, we'll get back to the Disney Channel, but let's put this outside first." I said.
"Alright." Justin said.
We walked over to the front door, i unlocked it, opened it, and Olive and i walked outside where i sat the Jack-o-Lantern on the grassy ground. We then went back inside and i closed the door and locked it. "Okay. More Disney Channel time. Let's go." I said before the boys, Olive and i raced into the living-room where the boys and i sat back down on the sofa to watch more of the Disney Channel while Olive sat back on the floor.
No sooner than we did that, the lights and the TV went out.
"What happened to the power? That's not fair, we're gonna miss the rest of the Halloween movie marathon." Max said.
"I guess the power-box must've blown a fuse or something. Alright, guys, party's over. Bed-time." Justin said.
"Uh...can i sleep in your room with you?" Max asked.
"Sure." Justin said.
"Imagine that. A boy who's 11 years old and still afraid of the dark." I said.
"Hey, we're all afraid of something...aren't we?" Max said.
"Yes, i guess we are. Come on. Let's get some shut-eye." I said.
The boys and i got up from the sofa and we felt our way out of the living-room, with Olive following us.
Little did we know that after tonight...Halloween would never be the same for either one of us again.
