Chapter 1

Kyle, Kevin, and Kylie sat at the table eating breakfast. They then heard a knock at the kitchen door.

"Come in," Kyle said.

Oliver came in through the kitchen door.

"Uncle Ollie!" Kyle cheered.

Kyle got up and hugged Oliver.

"What brings you to town?" Kyle asked.

"I wanted to see my favorite nephew," Oliver replied.

"Your only nephew," Kyle said.

"Hey!" Kevin shouted.

"Grand nephews are a different category," Kyle said.

"I do have an ulterior motive," Oliver said. "There's a certain comic book that I want to get appraised to see how much it's worth this day in age."

"What comic book?" Kyle asked.

"Fantastic Four #1," Oliver replied. "I've looked in my dad's attic and your father's attic. I can't seem to find it. Then I remembered I gave you a box of old comic books. Is it okay if I check?"

"Of course," Kyle replied. "The attic is over my room."

'Thanks," Oliver replied, walking upstairs.

Kyle sat at the table.

"Yeah," Kyle said. "He's not going to find that comic book."

"How do you know?" Kylie asked.

"I sold it," Kyle replied.

"You sold it?" Kevin asked.

"During my junior year in college, I didn't get a scholarship and I lost my financial aide," Kyle explained. "I was desperate to pay my tuition and I didn't want to tell your grandfather. So I sold it."

Kevin and Kylie looked at Kyle.

"But I got a scholarship and regained my financial aide my senior year," Kyle said.

"So how much money is left from the comic book?" Kevin asked.

"Well," Kyle said. "None."

"Your tuition was that much?" Kevin asked.

"Not exactly," Kyle replied. "Remember when you had your tonsils removed?"

"Yes," Kevin replied.

"And then a week later, Kylie had to have her appendix removed?" Kyle asked.

"Yes," Kylie replied.

"I never though Uncle Ollie would want the comic book back," Kyle said.

"Are you going to tell him the truth?" Kylie asked.

"No," Kyle said. "This is one of those rare times where it's not okay to tell the truth."

Oliver came down the stairs.

"Well," Kyle said. "It's not there. Where could it be?"

"Maybe it's at Cousin Kelly's in New York," Kyle said.

"I guess it wouldn't hurt to call her," Oliver said.

Oliver walked out of the house and Kyle looked at Kevin and Kylie.

"I'm in so much trouble," Kyle said.
