Hey guys! It's been a minute since my last update (I've been busy with school and stuff) but I'm excited to be posting another chapter today! For those of you who missed or skipped over the previous chapter for various reasons, basically Kurt helped Dave come out to his parents. It all went well, and afterwards Dave admitted to having feelings for Kurt. Kurt told him they couldn't be together because of Blaine, and that he wanted to only be friends. Dave took this well, and Kurt ended up going to a celebration with the rest of the New Directions to celebrate the win at Nationals.

"Do I look at least somewhat presentable?" Finn asked, turning to see himself in the full length mirror. "I don't want to show up looking weird."

Kurt sighed. "Finn, you look fine, trust me. I don't know why you're making this into such a big thing- didn't you decide to just be friends with Rachel?"

"Yeah, but the restaurant she wants to go to is kind of fancy." He paused, turning to look at his brother. "Wait, friends go to restaurants together, right? It's not... a date, is it?"

Kurt shrugged. "No, friends go out to eat sometimes. But usually not to expensive five star restaurants."

Finn's face paled slightly. "Do you think... she wants to go out again?"

"I have no idea. If you're so curious about it maybe you should just ask her." Kurt's phone buzzed suddenly, and he immediately picked it up from where it had been sitting on Finn's bed.

Finn raised an eyebrow. "Who's texting you?"

"Oh! Um, just Blaine." Kurt set his phone back down on his lap. "Sorry, I'm listening now. What were you saying?"

Finn rolled his eyes. "I wasn't saying anything. I just don't know what she wants. Maybe you're right, maybe I should talk to her."

"Mhm." Kurt agreed absentmindedly, eyes glued to the screen of his phone once again.

"You're just going to keep nodding? Are you even paying attention?" Finn waved a hand in front of Kurt's face, but he didn't move. "Hello? You there?" When there was once again no response Finn sighed. "Thanks for listening, geez. I'm heading out."

Kurt nodded slowly. "Alright." He turned back to his phone, a smile playing on his lips as he read over Blaine's text. He'd asked if Kurt wanted to come over and watch the Breakfast Club with him later, and of course he'd said yes. He sent off a quick message of confirmation before flopping back on the bed.

"Wow, I forgot how much I love that movie." Blaine said, clicking off the tv.

Kurt smiled. "I know, it's hilarious. Plus, Judd is super hot."

Blaine elbowed his boyfriend. "I'm right here you know."

"What? I'm just saying. You know I'm right."

"Maybe. But he wouldn't be half as attractive without that bad boy charm." Blaine pulled Kurt closer to him. "Besides, I think I like you better anyway. You're a little less bitchy than he is."

"Thanks for that, it really means a lot." Kurt joked, kissing Blaine gently. "We've never hung out like this before."

"What do you mean? We hang out all the time." Blaine took a handful of m&ms from the table, popping them into his mouth.

"Yeah, I know we do. I guess this just feels...a little more... romantic." Kurt said between kisses, tasting the chocolate on his breath. He pulled away after a few minutes, realizing much to his dismay that he was practically in Blaine's lap. "I... sorry, I don't know how that happened."

Blaine smirked. "I'm not upset about it. In fact, it's kind of sexy."

Kurt's face lit up slightly. "You mean... I finally managed to be sexy?"

Blaine laughed. "You're sexy all the time in my opinion. But yes, definitely an improvement from last year." He continued the make out session that Kurt had begun, hands tangled in his hair. He knew what Kurt meant- something about this date seemed... off. "Is this different than usual?" Blaine breathed.

Kurt nodded. "I thought it was just me. Yeah, it is." He paused, moving back slightly to study Blaine. He didn't know if it was the fact that they just watched a romance movie or because they'd been cuddling the whole time, but the whole thing felt magical. He was about to start up the kissing again when it hit him all at once. He felt his breath catch in his throat. "Blaine?"

Blaine froze, suddenly concerned. "What?"

Kurt smiled shyly, looking his boyfriend straight in the eye. "I think I'm in love with you."

Blaine raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Woah. We've never... said that to each other before."

Kurt nodded slowly. "I know. I guess for some reason I just now realized it. I love you."

Blaine's face slowly changed into a smile. "Kurt, I love you too. I've wanted to tell you for a while, but it's like you said. It didn't feel right until right now in this moment."

Kurt didn't know what to say. His heart was pounding in his chest and he knew he was blushing like crazy. "This is so surreal."

"I know." Blaine couldn't believe that he'd just told Kurt he loved him. It was true, he did. A lot. "Okay, not to ruin the moment or anything, but I really want to kiss you some more."

"Wish granted." Kurt flirted, kissing him more passionately than ever before.

"Wow." Blaine breathed, sitting up slightly in his bed.

"Yeah." Kurt replied. He smiled shyly at Blaine, moving a little closer. After their personal conversation on the couch, they did what they always did- made out. But for some reason this time was different, and one thing led to another. They'd practically run upstairs, collapsing onto Blaine's bed. Then they'd had sex.

Now they lay together, neither one sure what to say. Blaine cleared his throat, a blush still evident on his face. "I wasn't expecting that to happen. Are you... okay with it?"

Kurt nodded. "Yes, it was amazing. I really enjoyed it."

Blaine smiled. "So did I. I know that things got a little... crazy downstairs. I guess the whole love thing just... you know."

"Yeah, I do." Kurt kissed his boyfriend. "All of the emotions just built up to it."

"I guess you're right. I just feel bad, I should've asked you before we..."

"It's okay. If I wanted to stop I would've told you." Kurt whispered. "I'm being completely honest when I say that it was perfect."

Blaine blushed. "I agree. And I'm so happy that we finally did this. I would've waited as long as you wanted to, but I'm not going to lie, it was getting a little hard."

"I'm sorry for the wait, I just really wanted to make sure it was the right time. Thanks for understanding that."

"Of course. I never want to put you in a situation that makes you uncomfortable in any way." Blaine kissed his boyfriend again. "You're so handsome, I can't get enough of you." He flirted, trailing kisses up Kurt's shoulder, stopping at his earlobe.

Kurt let out a sigh of contentment, gazing at Blaine with admiration in his eyes. He knew that what they had together was special- he'd always known- but now, as they lay together, he felt like this was where he belonged. He knew this feeling was probably stronger because of the intimate experience they'd just shared, but it was always there, just more evident depending on the circumstances. "Oh stop, you're the handsome one. I'm so lucky I got to lose my virginity to a literal god."

Blaine gave a small moan in response, busy giving his boyfriend yet another hickey. "I'm still kind of in shock if I'm being honest. I was starting to think you'd never want to have sex."

"What? Blaine, I've always wanted to have sex with you. Literally the second I met you I wanted to be with you." Kurt planted a kiss on his nose. "I don't know why it took me so long. I guess all the love stuff from earlier really turned me on."

Blaine smirked. "Well, you always turn me on. Especially right now, I don't think I've ever seen your hair look so messy." He ran his fingers through it, trying to smooth it down. "Oh, and by the way, you might want to wear turtlenecks for the next couple of days. Otherwise people will see the evidence I left behind."

Kurt rolled his eyes. "You know, sometimes I wonder what it is with you and hickeys. It's like you just can't help yourself."

Blaine faked offense at this comment. "Don't make fun of me! I wouldn't even have this problem if your neck wasn't so delicious."

"I can't help it, it's part of my charm." Kurt winked, rolling over so he was straddling Blaine. "Let's stop talking and have some more fun before I have to go. We still have an hour." He whispered.

"You know I'm in. I love spending time together, especially like this." Blaine replied, bringing his lips up to meet Kurt's.

Kurt gave a quiet chuckle. "Stop talking before I change my mind."

Kurt checked himself one final time in the mirror. He smiled at his reflection, straightening his shirt before heading downstairs.

"There you are!" Burt engulfed his son in a hug, stepping back with admiration in his eyes. "I can't believe you're eighteen. I remember the day you were born, it seems like it was yesterday."

Kurt rolled his eyes playfully. "I guess I grew up fast. Can you save the speech for later? I really need to get to school."

Burt chuckled. "Okay fine, but don't think I'm done embarrassing you."

Carole came into the hallway from the kitchen, drying her hands on a dish towel. "Happy birthday Kurt! Don't go into the kitchen, I'm preparing a little surprise for after dinner." She said with a wink, giving her son a hug.

Kurt smiled. "I can't wait, I'm sure it'll be amazing."

"I hope so. Hey, are you sure you don't want to have some friends over to celebrate? Your dad and I are fine with it if you do."

"No, I'm sure." Kurt replied, taking his bag from its spot by the door. "I just want a small family celebration this year. Besides, I'm pretty sure the glee club's preparing a surprise party. The other day I saw Brittany working on some sort of sparkly banner."

"I told Mr. Shu to give her a different job, but of course he didn't listen." Finn groaned, grabbing a granola bar from the center of the table. "Just try to act like you didn't know about it, okay?"

"I will. Don't worry, my lips are sealed." Kurt opened the back door, pausing to turn the collar of his jacket. "Bye dad, bye Carole!"

"Bye, have a good day!"

The first half of the day went by so fast that Kurt was in shock by the time lunch rolled around. It seemed like with all the celebratory hugs and happy birthdays that only an hour had gone by. Just as he was about to leave the lunchroom someone slid into the seat next to him.

"I got this for you." Mercedes said with a smile, handing Kurt a package wrapped in light blue paper. "Happy eighteenth birthday!"

Kurt smiled. "Aw, thanks Mercedes. I can't believe I'm technically an adult now, it's crazy."

"Yeah, well, from what I hear you've been engaging in adult activity already." Mercedes said with a wink.

"What?" Kurt asked, confused.

"I'm talking about you and Blaine. Are the rumors true? Have you guys been... you know..."

Kurt blushed. "Who told you that?"

"Santana. She said that she could just tell." Mercedes rolled her eyes. "I guess everyone listened to her since she's hooked up with pretty much every person at this school. But come on, I'm your best friend. Tell me."

Kurt sighed. "Okay fine. We did it."

"I'm so happy for you!" Mercedes flung an arm around Kurt's shoulder. "It's about time."

"Yeah, I know." Kurt held up the package in his hand. "Should I open this now?"

"I almost forgot about it! Yeah, sure." Mercedes watched as Kurt ripped open the box, pulling out a purple jacket with tan colored buttons.

Kurt let out a gasp as he held it up. "Mercedes, this is gorgeous. You know me so well."

Mercedes laughed. "Yeah, well, I'd hope so, considering we've been friends for almost three years. But I'm glad you like it, the color reminded me of you."

"I love it, I'm totally wearing it tomorrow." Kurt carefully folded the jacket, sticking it back in it's box. "I guess it's time to get my acting on and pretend I have no idea about the party waiting for me in the music room."

Mercedes gave a chuckle. "Yeah, I figured you'd find out about it. Glee kids aren't really the type to keep secrets for long."

Kurt stood and they walked to class together, chatting the whole way. When they finally reached the music room the door was shut. Kurt peered through one of the windows. He could barely make out the silhouettes of his classmates hunched on all fours.

Mercedes slowly pulled open the door, and the second they stepped inside the light switched on.

"Happy birthday!" Everyone jumped up, running to congratulate Kurt.

The party was fun- there was cake and soda- and by the end of it everyone was practically jumping off the walls.

As soon as he got home Kurt was greeted by even more hugs, this time from his grandparents.

"I can't believe you're all grown up. Fred, do you remember when he was a tiny baby?" Kurt's grandmother swooned, engulfing him in yet another hug.

"Yes Edna, course I do." His grandfather replied, face solemn as always. "You bring it up every year."

Carole cleared her throat cheerfully. "Do you guys want to stay for supper? I made plenty of food."

"That's so nice of you, but we really should get home. Someone needs to feed Walter." Edna gave a hearty laugh, picking up her pocketbook. "Happy birthday Kurt. I gave your dad a present for you, open it when you wish."

Kurt nodded, a smile plastered on his face. "Thanks grandma, I'll make sure to send some pictures."

"Good, now Fred, can you unlock the car? We must get going, that cat of ours sure gets cranky when he's hungry."

Kurt watched as they left, driving off into the night.

Burt gave a small chuckle. "Well, they sure were in a hurry. You know how your grandma is- always bustling about. Your gift is in the kitchen."

Kurt groaned. "Dad, I already know exactly what they got me. Do I have to open it?"

"Yes. Besides, you never know, maybe they got you something different this year."

Kurt raised an eyebrow. "Different? Dad, they've gotten me the same hideous brown and green scarf every year since I was ten. Why would this year be any different?"

"Just open it. I know you'll love it."

Kurt obediently went into the kitchen, picking up the gift bag. He pulled out plenty of tissue paper- his grandma hoarded it- before pulling the product out. He stared down at the object in his hands, confused. "A cassette? Dad, what is this?"

Burt smiled. "The other day when I was helping them organize their attic I came across it. You were supposed to receive it this year on your eighteenth birthday, but somehow it ended up at their place."

Kurt turned the tape over in his hands, trying to read the faded label. "What is it?"

"It's from your mom. She made it shortly before she... you know." Burt gave a sad smile. "I haven't watched it, I wanted to make sure you were the first person to see it."

Kurt was frozen. He couldn't believe it- his mother had left him something so personal. "Can I watch it? Right now?"

Burt nodded. "Of course. I already got the TV ready, so you can start it whenever. I'm gonna help Carole finish up dinner, but I promise we won't eavesdrop."

Kurt nodded, still in shock. "Okay, thanks. I'll be right back." He practically sprinted to the living room, shutting the door behind him. He carefully pushed the tape into the DVD player, switching on the television. For some reason his heart was pounding in his ears. He was about to see his mother again. Hear her voice. It was overwhelming to say the least.

Without another thought he pressed play. The screen immediately lit up, and Kurt recognized the room immediately. It used to be his mother's art studio, before they'd turned it into a guest room. But his focus wasn't on the room- it was on the figure in the middle of it. His mother was perched on a stool, clothes stained with paint. Her face was flushed, and a smile lit up her entire being. Even from where he sat Kurt could see her eyes- the same eyes he had. They were a piercing blue, and her strawberry blonde hair was patchy, a headband tied around the strands she had left.

She opened her mouth, and suddenly she was speaking. "Is this thing on?" She said with a chuckle, getting up to readjust the camera. "There we go." She sat back down, gazing lovingly into the viewfinder. "Wow, I don't know where to start. I thought this would be a lot easier, but it's not." She took a breath before continuing. "First of all, happy birthday baby. I know that you're probably cringing right now- I mean, you're eighteen, not a baby anymore, but to me you always will be." His mother chuckled, and Kurt felt a wave of love wash over him. He'd forgotten how contagious her laugh could be.

"Kurt, I'm so proud of you. I know it might not feel like I'm there, because physically I'm not, but I'm always going to be your guardian angel. I have so many things I want to ask you. What are your friends like? How are you doing? How's your father? I'd give so much to be able to spend one more day with you." She paused, wiping at her eye with her sleeve. "Ugh, now I'm getting all sappy. I can't even begin to imagine what's going through your head right now. It must be weird, seeing your dead mom speaking to you through a crappy video tape, but hey, who knows? Anyway, I keep getting off topic. I want to tell you some things that I hope for your future." She reached behind her, taking a clipboard from the table. "Okay. First of all, I hope that you pursue music. You're so talented, and even though you're only six when I'm filming this I can see what a star you are. Second of all, I hope that you're happy. I know I can't be there to help you with all the romance stuff, but I can tell you that if and when you get a boyfriend I'll be up here cheering you on. And hey, maybe you haven't come out yet, and that's totally fine. The only reason I know is through my mother's intuition."

Kurt let out an audible chuckle, wiping his nose with a tissue. His mother had a way of making everything lighthearted and funny.

His mother paused, almost as if she were expecting him to laugh. "The final thing I have on my list is to live life to the fullest. You're such an optimistic person, and I know you'll do great things. I wish I could be there with you right now to celebrate. To hug you and kiss your forehead. To tell you how much I love you. But since I'm not, I wanted to make this video for these very reasons. You're the light of my life, and I couldn't ask for a better son. I miss you and your father so much, and I want you both to find happiness. Happy birthday Kurt, I love you."

The tape ended, and Kurt turned off the television. Tears were streaming down his face, and all he could do was sit there and let them. He didn't know what he was feeling- there were so many emotions pelting him at once- but a part of him felt content, like the missing piece of the puzzle had been found.

The door to the living room opened and Burt walked in, wrapping his arms around his son. He didn't say anything, but it was okay. They were both thinking the same thing, and that's what mattered.

After Kurt managed to calm down some, he smiled at his father. "Dad, that gift was amazing. I know it's technically from grandma and grandpa, but it really means a lot."

"You're so welcome. Was it good?"

"Yeah, it was." Kurt let out a shaky breath. "I think I'm ready for my birthday dinner now. I don't want the food getting cold."

Burt chuckled. "Yeah, well, let's eat."

"Kurt, Blaine's here!" Finn yelled from the living room. As soon as dinner ended he'd abruptly left the table to go play video games, despite his mother's protests. Ultimately Kurt had said it was fine, and had asked if Blaine could come over for a couple of hours.

"Hey, happy eighteenth." Blaine said, kissing Kurt passionately in the doorway.

"Ahem." Burt interrupted, arms crossed. "Nice to see you Blaine. Now get your hands off of my son." He joked.

Blaine jumped back. "Sorry, Mr. Hummel. I'll do better."

"Good. And hey Blaine? Call me Burt." He smiled before heading towards his room.

As soon as he was gone Blaine freaked out. "Did you hear that? I think your dad finally appreciates me."

Kurt rolled his eyes. "He's being extra nice since it's my birthday. Do you want some cake? Carole made it and it's delicious."

"Is that even a question? Cake's my favorite thing to eat. Well, besides you." Blaine winked suggestively.

Kurt elbowed him in the ribs. "Shut up, I don't need my whole family hearing!"

"Sorry. But yes, I'd love some cake."

Kurt led Blaine to the kitchen, cutting a decent sized piece and handing it to his boyfriend. "So, what have you been up to?"

"Just been thinking of you all day. It's crazy how you're an adult now and everything, I feel so young."

"I'm only one year older than you. Besides, age is just a number."

Blaine took a bite of cake, setting the plate on the table. "Oh! Before I forget I got you something." He hoisted himself onto the counter, reaching into his jacket pocket to pull out a small box. "It might actually make more sense if I open it."

Kurt's eyes widened. "Oh my god, are you proposing?"

Blaine laughed. "No. But if I did, would you say yes?"

"I don't know..." Kurt joked.

Blaine rolled his eyes. "Okay, sit down."

Kurt did as he was told, eyes on the gift.

Blaine opened the velvet box, revealing a silver ring. It was the perfect amount of both feminine and masculine, with a small diamond embedded in the center.

Kurt gasped. "Blaine, it's beautiful. But why...?"

Blaine blushed. "I want to be with you, Kurt. And I know we're still in high school and are nowhere near being ready for marriage, but I wanted to get you something to show that I'm not going anywhere. I want to marry you someday." Blaine took the ring from the box, slipping it on to his boyfriend's finger. "I promise myself to you."

Kurt didn't know what to say. His heart was beating out of his chest and he knew he probably looked like an idiot just sitting there, but words weren't working. "I love it. It's perfect. And when we're older I'll totally marry you."

Blaine planted a kiss on his lips. "Good, because there's no one I'd rather be with."

Kurt resumed the kissing, crawling onto Blaine's lap. The kitchen counter probably wasn't the best place for a make out session, but neither one of them wanted to stop.

"Kurt, Burt wants to see you- oh." Finn stopped in his tracks. "Seriously? Get a room."

Kurt rolled his eyes. "Oh, be quiet. You and Rachel used to be way grosser in front of me. Does dad really need to see me right now?"

"Yeah, he said to tell you it's urgent." Finn said with a shrug, popping a piece of cake into his mouth.

Kurt sighed. "Ugh. I'll be right back." He made his way down the hallway, stopping at the door to his parents' room. "Dad? Finn said you wanted to see me."

Burt nodded, sitting down on the bed and patting the spot next to him. Once his son was seated he began. "Finn's going over to Rachel's later to hang out."

"So?" Kurt asked, confused. "What does that have to do with me?"

"Well, Carole and I..." he trailed off.

"You what?" Kurt prodded.

"We kind of forgot we made plans for tonight with some old friends of ours. We can cancel though, I mean it is your special day. I'd feel bad leaving you alone all night."

"No, you should go! I understand." Kurt smiled. "I'll be fine."

Burt eyed his son suspiciously. "Okay then. But when we leave the boyfriend leaves."

Kurt let out a groan. "Dad, it's my birthday. Can't we hang out?"

Burt sighed. "Fine. I guess you're technically an adult now, so I'll allow it. Just... be smart. And safe."

"Dad!" Kurt's face was bright red. "We're just going to watch tv and talk."

"Okay, okay. We'll be home as soon as we can."

"Have fun." Kurt followed his father to the entryway, watching as him and Carole drove off.

"They sure were in a hurry." Finn observed. "I'm gonna head over to Rachel's. I might be home tonight and I might not."

Blaine raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you guys break up?"

"Yeah, but you never know. See ya later." Finn closed the door behind him, beginning the walk to Rachel's.

Blaine snuck up behind his boyfriend, wrapping his arms around him. "I guess it's just you and me, huh?"

"I guess so." Kurt lifted his chin, kissing Blaine.

"You know, I never cashed in my Valentine's Day gift." Blaine whispered. "I was kind of hoping that offer was still open. Only if you want to though."

Kurt smiled. They hadn't done anything since the first time almost a month ago, and he really missed it. "Obviously I do. Let's go upstairs."

Haha, classic Blaine eating a ton of birthday cake, am I right? XD I thoroughly enjoyed writing this chapter, especially the small moments with Finn and Kurt (Finn would totally ask for his advice on girl problems, I just know it). Anyway, I thought the thing with Kurt's mom was kinda cute idk. Also just wanted to point out that I KNOW BLAINE IS TECHNICALLY UNDERAGE. I debated whether or not to add in this last scene but went with it anyway. It's a story, I'm not promoting underage sex irl.

On that note, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave a comment and/or review so I know what direction to go with the story! I have a few plot twists coming up, so stay tuned;) Bye!
