Chapter 2

As I walked to the shore, I was thinking about what I should tell Chiron. If I stated outright that there was a Titan present, he would either try to send more campers or pull us out. The problem with that plan is that we cannot risk any other campers as we number around 100 and we can't risk the supplies staying in Kronos' hands.

I waved my hand in the air and felt a small tug in my gut. Some of the water at my feet flew up and turned into mist. I held the mist in a rectangular form and moved it around until a rainbow formed.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out a drachma. I tossed the drachma into the mist and said, "Oh Iris, goddess of the Rainbow, please accept my offering."

The mist shimmered and I said, "Show me Chiron at Camp Half-Blood."

Chiron appeared in the mist but was looking away.

"Chiron!" I called out.

He spun around. "Percy, is everything alright?"

I looked away for a moment. "Uh, we may have run into a problem."

Chiron's face looked haggard.

"Please explain Percy," Chiron asked with a heavy sigh.

As I explained the situation to Chiron, the dread in his eyes grew more and more pronounced. I finished up by telling him that Annabeth is thinking of a plan that will help us succeed.

"Percy, do you know which Titan is present?" Chiron asked looking grimmer than ever.

"Yeah, I do. He's the destroyer."

"If he is truly who you will be up against then you must use every ability you have. He is the Titan of Destruction, and you cannot overcome him with raw strength."

Chiron looked thoughtful before he spoke again. "Percy, there might be a way to give you an upper hand."

I perked up instantly. "What is it? I'll take any advantage I can get."

"Tell me, Percy, have you ever used a trident?"

"Yeah. There are some in the Arena, why?" I asked confused.

Chiron looked slightly happier. "Well, my boy, I'll tell you why there is nothing more dangerous than a child of Poseidon wielding a trident."

As Chiron spoke, the gleam in my eyes grew stronger and stronger. This was going to be great.
