Chapter 13

***That Night***

(Olivia calls Quinn from her car. Once Quinn picks up, Olivia speaks)

Olivia: "Hi, Quinn."

Quinn: "How'd things go with Elijah?"

Olivia: (scoffs) "About as well as you'd expect. I confronted him with everything and of course he denied it. That is until I provided proof."

Quinn: "You showed him all the pictures from your phone?"

Olivia: "No, but I told him everything I remembered from the pictures. He was caught off-guard, to say the least. I let him have It, Quinn. I asked him what kind of human being treats his own son like that? He stated he did the right thing."

Quinn: (scoffs) "Yeah, to him, he did. You may have gotten Mellie off his back, which is more than he deserves."

Olivia: "I shut him out of my life, too." (chuckles in relief) "Oh, Quinn, it felt so good to do that. I've threatened to do that many times for the last couple of years. I finally made good on my promise. He said that there will come a time when I'll need him. I made it clear I have other trusted friends or loved ones I can ask for help."

Quinn: (snorts) "I imagine he didn't like that too much."

Olivia: "No, he did not."

Quinn: "Elijah deserved to be shut out of your life and so much more."

Olivia: "Now, the next step is locating Noah. I'll do that in the morning. Tonight, I'm going to meet up with Jake at my place." (happily) "Finally, I'm going to tell him everything about what Elijah has been holding over me."

Quinn: (smiles) "I'm happy for you. Because, in my opinion, it's been a long time coming. You're finally free to tell Jake everything and that you love him, NOT Fitz and you want to be with him, NOT Fitz."

Olivia: "Thanks, Quinn. Have a good night."

(They both end the call. A few moments later, Olivia calls Jake, who picks up on the third ring)

Jake: (happily) "Hi, beautiful."

Olivia: (smirks) "I see you haven't lost your charm."

Jake: "With you, never. What's up?"

Olivia: "Are you busy tonight? I want you to come to my place. There are some things that we need to talk about."

Jake: "Sounds serious. Do I need to be worried?"

Olivia: "I'll tell you everything at my place. Are you game?"

Jake: (nods) "I'm game. See you in a half hour."

Olivia: "Sounds good."

(They both end the call. A half hour later, when both Olivia and Jake are at her apartment, they get comfy. She gets a bottle of red merlot and two wine glasses. Jake didn't mind wine. But, the kind he preferred, she made sure she always carried it. After offering him a glass, they each take a drink to sooth their dry throats. Afterwards, Jake faces his girl in expectancy)

Jake: "Okay, I'm here like you asked. What is it that you wanted to tell me?"

(Olivia takes another drink before setting her glass on the coffee table in front of her and faces her man)

Olivia: "This has been a long time coming. You have wanted the truth for a long time now and I couldn't tell you."

Jake: (seriously nods) "You wouldn't admit to it, but I suspected Elijah was blackmailing you." (raises his eyebrows) "Am I right?"

(Olivia stares at Jake for a long time and then looks down a bit before nodding her answer. Jake scoffs and curses out loud before facing Olivia again)

Jake: "Why didn't you just tell me, Olivia? From the very beginning? I could've protected you!"

Olivia: "Because my father threatened to kill you. We all know that he makes good on his promises. I'm not usually afraid of him, Jake. However, when it comes to those I care about and he threatens their life? I take that seriously. I know he's capable of it." (nods) "You know that, too."

(It was Jake's turn to stare at Olivia for a while before coming back down to Earth again)

Jake: "I know what he's capable of, yes. But, I also feel that you couldn't trust me enough to be honest with me. Do you know how that makes me feel, Liv?"

(Jake gets up from the couch in a huff and paces around the living room floor while Olivia watches helplessly)

Olivia: "Don't you get it? I wanted to tell you! More than anything! You've seen firsthand what he's capable of! I'm sorry, but I was NOT going to risk your life just to clear my conscience and tell you everything to make you feel better! Even if I made you hate me for a while, at least you were alive and safe! I know that you can protect yourself. But when its you against a bunch of his goons? Then, yes, you would need help."

(Jake stops pacing around the floor and faces his girl)

Jake: "You're also forgetting the fact that I was a part of B613. So, I do have people on the inside that can help me."

(Olivia lowers her head and briefly closes her eyes as she lets out a sigh. Shit, he had a point. She moves her hair out of her face as she spoke)

Olivia: "Okay, you're right. I forgot about that. I'm sorry. At the time, I thought that I was doing the right thing."

Jake: "What did Vanessa have to do with all of this? I had to break her heart on our wedding day by telling her that I didn't love her; I loved YOU."

Olivia: (sighs) "My father wanted power in the White House. He felt he could get that by you marrying Vanessa and she was also very wealthy. He was the head of B6. Still is. But, he is also a smart man, and he knows that keeping you away from me will still give him power over me. With you in my life, he knows that I am forever lost to him. And for the first time, I want to be away from him."

Jake: (scoffs incredulously) "The nerve of that fucking idiot. I'm just glad he's out of the picture."

(He paces around the living room a bit more before stopping and faces Olivia)

Jake: "You DO know that when I'm needed to stay quiet, I have no problem with that, right?"

(Olivia gets up from the couch and goes to the man she adored. She rests her hand over his right cheek and smiles a bit)

Olivia: "I do." (tears in her eyes) "It tore me up inside having to lie to you and make you believe that I still loved Fitz when it couldn't have been further from the truth. That my heart belonged to you." (tearfully sighs) "Jake, I love you so much. My heart has always belonged to you."

(She picks up his hands into hers and quickly kisses them before facing her soulmate)

Olivia: "I love you more than my own life."

Jake: (tilts his head) "I love you, too. Fitz was confused, too, because he knew you didn't love him anymore even though you tried to tell me you did. He offered to help you get rid of Elijah, but you turned him down."

Olivia: (nods) "The less people that knew, the better."

(Jake briefly looks up before facing his girl again. A smile comes to his face and he speaks)

Jake: "God, do I love you. I have missed looking at your beautiful face. I have missed waking up with you every morning knowing I'm going to see those amazing eyes. I have missed going to bed with you knowing I can hold you in my arms." (smirks) "I have also missed kissing those bodacious lips and making love to you."

(Olivia can't help the laugh from escaping her mouth at his sexy comments. She missed that about him SO much)

Jake: "It is you I have always loved, baby. Even when you were a pain in the ass."

Olivia: "It is you who have always held my heart." (shakes her head) "I thought I loved Fitz, but I was wrong. He doesn't hold a candle to you, Jake Albert Ballard. I love you."

Jake: "I love you more…so much more."

(As if they knew what the next natural step was, they lean forward and lock their lips. Oh, their kiss felt so good…tasted like heaven.
