Chapter 14

***The Next Day***

(Olivia goes to 'OPA'. Quinn offers a smile before speaking)

Quinn: "How did things go with Jake last night?"

Olivia: (nods & smiles) "Great. We got everything out in the open. Jake wasn't happy that I kept everything from him. I basically told him how dangerous my father was, so it was needed. At first, Jake felt I didn't trust him. I understood why he'd think that. In the end, it all worked out. We made up and are happier than ever."

Quinn: "What's even better is Elijah is finally out of the picture."

(Olivia's eyes widen and she chuckles)

Olivia: "You're telling me. Thank God. Now, the next step is locating my brother. I'm hoping that with all of the information we have, we can locate him quickly."

Huck: "How will you feel once you're reunited with your long lost brother after all this time?"

Olivia: (shakes her head) "I should never have been parted from him to begin with. That's on Elijah. I'll make up for lost time once we're reunited."

Quinn: (nods) "Let's get started."

(A few minutes later, an African American man in his late thirties comes in. He walks around until he sees a few people in what looks like a conference room. Once he opens the door and says 'hello', Olivia, Huck, and Quinn face the man)

Quinn: "Hello."

Huck: "Can we help you?"

(Huck, Quinn, and Olivia immediately know he's different. Not bad different, but that he has a disability)

Guy: "C-Can you please tell me where I can find Olivia Pope?"

(Olivia walks a few steps to the man before speaking)

Olivia: "I'm Olivia Pope. Can you tell me who you are?"

Man: (smiles politely) "I think I'm your brother. My name is Noah Pope."

(Olivia's mouth parts a bit in shock before gathering herself)

Olivia: "I'm surprised you found me."

Noah: (chuckles softly) "I had help. My adopted parents helped me find you. I read in a newspaper or something that you knew a guy named Jake Ballard. So, I located his cell phone number and tried to call him, but he never picked up."

Olivia: "Jake didn't recognize the number. All of us were going to search for you today." (tilts her head) "Jake was wondering who the number belonged to." (smiles) "Now we know. Noah, where are your adoptive parents at?"

Noah: "They're in the hallway sitting down on a bench. I have Down Syndrome; I need help sometimes."

(Noah looks at Quinn, Huck and his newfound sister nervously, which Olivia notices)

Olivia: (concerned) "Noah, what's wrong?"

Noah: "Being I have Down Syndrome-and other things wrong…"

(Noah points to the braces on his legs and feet that his shoes cover)

Noah: "Meaning my cerebral palsy and my learning disability, you'll look at me differently."

(Olivia sighs softly as she walks to her brother)

Olivia: "Is it okay if I give you a hug, Noah?"

Noah: (nods) "Okay."

(Olivia walks slowly into Noah's arms. The brother and sister slowly embrace for a few moments before breaking free. She rests her hands on Noah's shoulders and speaks in a gentle tone)

Olivia: "I want to make something clear, Noah. There could never be anything wrong with you for me to turn my back on are family and I love you. I recently disowned our father because of all of his lies."

(Noah's eyes are a bit wide-eyed)

Noah: "Is he here in Washington?"

Olivia: "Yes, he is. If you want me with you when you confront our father, I will. I'll leave it up to you, though."

Noah: (nods) "No, I want you there with me. Thank you."

Olivia: "Where are you staying while you're in Washington?"

Noah: "At a hotel with my parents."

Olivia: (small smile) "If it's okay with you, I would like to get to know you better….being we're brother and sister."

Noah: (smiles) "I'd like that, too."

Olivia: "Are you ready to go to our father's? To Elijah's?"

Noah: "I'm nervous about it."

Olivia: "I want you to know something, my brother. I will be by your side the entire time. When you're not sure what to do or what to say, just look at me and I'll guide you through it. I will not leave your side."

(Noah nods in response and appreciation. Noah tells his adoptive parents his plans with Olivia. The parents agree to wait in the car while Noah is with Olivia at Elijah's. Once at Elijah's front door, Olivia gently squeezes Noah's hand and faces him)

Olivia: "Remember, I'm right here with you."

Noah: (nods) "Sounds good."

(Olivia knocks on the front door. Elijah answers and admits he's surprised to see her. Olivia says she's not alone, she brought company. She points to her company, which Elijah sees. Elijah and Noah come face to face)

Elijah: (puzzled) "Olivia, who is this?"

Noah: "It's me, Noah, your son."

(Elijah is shocked beyond belief! He's wide-eyed and his mouth is open. Elijah quickly shakes his head to regain his thoughts and invites them both in. Once in the living room, Elijah wonders when Noah came to town)

Noah: "Today."

Elijah: "I hope you know, Noah, that I wanted to meet you someday."

(Noah looks to Olivia for guidance as it was clear he was getting apprehensive. Olivia nods and says she's right here and tells Noah to speak from his heart, how he feels, to take his time)

Noah: (shakes his head) "You may have wanted to meet me, but I didn't know if I wanted to meet you."

(Noah raises his voice sadly)

Noah: "All my life, I have felt unwanted, unloved, and I NEVER want to see you again after today! My adopted parents have been more of a parent for me than you have! They NEVER treated me differently because of my disabilities like you did!"

Elijah: "Is that what your sister wanted you to say or what you wanted to say?"

Noah: (sad tone) "What I wanted to say. Olivia has been nothing but kind to me. You never wanted me, but mom did. Olivia wants me, too. I'm going to have a brother/sister relationship with Olivia. I do NOT want to see you again. I just wanted to look you in the eyes and say that."

(Noah lets go of Olivia's hand and says he'll be on the porch. Olivia nods and says she'll be right there. Once Noah is gone, Elijah scoffs at Olivia)

Elijah: "I hope you're proud of yourself. You drove Noah away from me for good."

Olivia: (spits) "You have no one to blame but yourself. Face it. If you wouldn't have forced mom to put Noah up for adoption, none of this would have happened."

(Olivia walks out the front door and shuts it behind her. Noah and Olivia face each other)

Olivia: "Are you okay?"

Noah: "It felt good to tell him that, even though I was nervous." (puzzled) "What happens now?"

Olivia: (grins) "That's the beauty of it. Whatever you want. I'm glad that we'll have a brother/sister relationship."

(Noah and Olivia embrace a bit and he thanks her for being there for her. She says anytime. She's only a phone call or visit away. She asks if she can call or visit him, too. Noah says he'd like that. Noah asks where their mother is at. Olivia sighs sadly that, unfortunately, she has no idea. She disappeared a long time ago. If their mother ever comes back in the picture, Olivia will definitely tell her about Noah. Noah smiles in response and goes to his adoptive parents. Olivia smiles as she was happy she finally found her brother. She gets in her car and drives away)
