A portal had been opened... a backdoor to the underworld and through it, a glowing gold vision.
Dick Dastardly and his canine sidekick, Muttley laughed and cheered at their greatest scheme yet!
Greedy for gold, Muttley was about to enter when Dastardly pushed him away and decided to take the risk himself.
"Rasm frasm ingrate" grumbled Muttley.
The poor dog whimpered as if to say "Please don't do it!" and gave two begging eyes.
Dastardly ignored him and jumped into the portal, sneaking and snatching enough treasure he could carry.
"I've got it, Muttley" he gasped. "Come on! Help me get this out to - -"
He suddenly felt the portal trap him inside. Muttley gasped and whined nervously, worried about his master... his only friend.
"Drat! Drat! Double drat!" growled Dastardly.
But that ticket was a one way trip.
"Muttley?"
Even if Muttley tried to open a billion portals, Dick would never come back.
Suddenly, a large shadow loomed over Dastardly.
"Triple drat!" he squeaked. "Muttley!"
"Rastardly!" barked Muttley.
The portal was beginning to come apart and blow up.
"Oh, no! No! Muttley, do something!" Dastardly pleaded.
Muttley was about to reach for his master when he hurt his paw from a spark.
All of a sudden, a green, glowing paw snatched Dastardly and carried him away!
"MUTTLEY!!!!"
Muttley barked frantically as he watched the portal broke down.
The poor dog howled mournfully at the broken portal, for the lost of his master.
In the underworld, Dastardly was thrown to the ground.
He was scared as he tried to hide from Cerberus, its three heads searching for its prey.
But before he could make a run, Dastardly was held down by Cerberus' giant paw. He struggled against the brute force.
The three headed creature then snatched him and the middle head began to eat when...
"BLECH!" groaned the monster. It ate Dastardly's trench coat instead of the human.
Frightened, Dastardly ran as fast as he could until he reached a cold, rocky cliff and hid himself there.
"Oh, Muttley" he sobbed. "If you can hear me, please... Please help me."
It was gone, but Dastardly laid on the ground. He was tired, frightened and alone. He had to play dead until Cerberus had left.
Suddenly, he heard barking.
Could it be Cerberus? Has it come to finish him off?
Dastardly tried to remain motionless as small soft footsteps approached him.
Soon, he felt a wet nose on his cheek.
He raised his head and saw a familiar face he hasn't seen in forever.
"Muttley?"
The canine snickered.
Yep, that's Muttley alright.
"Oh, how I missed you!" cried Dastardly, hugging Muttley tightly.
But then, Cerberus appeared and growled at the two.
The two were cornered and screamed as the heads reared back and opened their mouths!
Dastardly snapped awake, screaming.
He panted as he realized that he had a nightmare where he was the one trapped in the Underworld, not Muttley.
And here he was, back in his own airship and in bed with Muttley sleeping on the floor peacefully.
Though afraid of falling back to sleep, Dastardly turned over and stared at the clock. It was already two in the morning.
Annoyed, Dastardly turned over again with a heavy sigh. It was going to be a long night for him.
To be continued...
