Kamski was woken up by Chloe, she sounded desperate as she aggressively shuck him awake. "Chloe, what's wrong?" he asked, half annoyed with his sleep being disturbed. Chloe had tears stained in her cheeks, her body trembled in fear. "Chloe?!" he shouted louder.
"Miss Quinn and others have arrived, Connor has been shot and his body is close to shutting down," she said at a fast pace, much different from her normal calm and soothing voice. Kamski didn't need another word to be spoken, he jumped out of his bed and rushed to his walk-in wardrobe to change.
Brooke stood in the hallway, Connor on the wheelie bed next to her, he hadn't moved since falling into his dormant state, the blue blood had slowed down from gushing out of the bullet wound. None of them knew of the timer warning Connor had before he would shut down, but they were running out of time and only had a few minutes to get his bleeding under control and save his Thirium pump.
Kamski rushed out of the room connecting to his blood coloured bath, he looked at the fearful faces of Brooke and Gavin as they both begged him with their eyes for help. "Bring him through, quickly. We don't have much time."
Gavin pushed the bed as Brooke jogged at the side, holding Connor's hand the whole way. Kamski and Chloe led them into his home office, it creepily looked the exact same as his experimentation room at Cyberlife tower.
Two more Chloe's rushed in from the door at the other side of the room, Gavin backed away in shock as they all started to gather Kamski equipment. "How many does he have?" he mumbled to Brooke.
"Shut up, Gavin," she uttered to him. "I need you to go get Hank, he doesn't know what's happened." She pushed him towards the door, he curtly nodded before rushing out of the room. "Can you save him?" she asked as Kamski was being dressed in protective clothing and one of the Chloe's laid out his tools.
"I will try, Brooke," he replied. Kamski looked over Connor before starting, the bullet wound could be seen right through his chest with wires sparking and Thirium leaking the hole of the wound. "Suction," he said as the Chloe Brooke personally grabbed the suction cup and sucked the blood out with the slow vacuum.
Kamski connects wires to Connor's forehead, where his LED would have been. The countdown warning quickly loaded up, there were three minutes left. "Shit, he is shutting down. Chloe get the memory storage box," he shouted. Chloe ran off.
Brooke rushed over, watching as Kamski started to grab wires from the drawer at his side and dig them into Connor's chest and then moving the wires from his forehead to be replaced with more leads. "What do you mean he is shutting down?"
Kamski looked at her, he gave her a sad smile but didn't reply. Chloe returned and connected the small tablet up with the wires from Connor's chest and forehead, the countdown began as his memories and consciousness were stored inside.
"I can't save him, Brooke. His wounds are too much," Kamski said in a dull tone. Brooke felt her world crash down, she dropped to the floor with a cry. The dark-haired Chloe rushed to her, offering her what comfort she could as she hugged her tightly. "There is a way to bring him back," he added.
She looked at him from the floor, sniffling back her tears. "What do you mean? You just said it yourself: he is gone."
"No, I have saved his memories and full consciousness on this," he said pointing at the tablet that laid on Connor's stomach, it bleeped with the complete download being finished. "Connor can transfer himself into any android, but he can't do it himself with his current body being shut down. We can give him a new body."
"I'm not letting you just give me some random-looking android, you either give me Connor back just the same as before or not at all." Brooke knew it was a gamble when it would be so easy to bring Connor back, but she couldn't see him the same if he came with a completely different body.
Kamski rounded the table and held his hand out for her, she accepted his hand and he pulled her up. "The only other RK800 is the one Hank killed at the tower, I have only one other android that is near the exact same as RK800."
Brooke sighed heavily, "... RK900?"
"Correct, its body has still not been activated, I can transfer Connor to the body." Brooke hitched a breath, she remembered just how angry Connor got before when he found out about RK900, he may be much angrier if he wakes up with a new body of the one thing he didn't want to become.
"I need... I need time to decide." Brooke looked at the limp body on the table, she wished he would just wake up and be just fine.
"Of course, you are more than welcome to stay here until you decide," Kamski quietly said as he ushered himself and his Chloe out of the room.
Brooke waited for the door to close before she finally walked up to the bed, his eyes were shut tight with wires hanging by his head and cheeks. She pulled them off and tried her best with a damp cloth to clean off the dried blood. She let her tears fall as she did this, the hurt and loss was nothing she had felt so badly before.
Brooke finally finished what she needed to do with Connor's body, she kissed the side of his cheek before eventually stepping back for the last time, she couldn't look at the body again, or she might have a mental breakdown. She quietly shut the door behind her and walked outside, the cold bitter weather bit at her cold, chapped lips and red cheeks, she fell to the floor again, crying loudly at the dark starless sky.
Gavin saw her on the floor, Hank was in the passenger seat with him. The older man had been an absolute pain trying to get into the car, he swore and shouted about Connor being harmed. "Gavin, help her," Hank shouted as he took much longer trying to get out of the car.
Gabin ran to Brooke, he skidded on the floor to her side, letting her collapse into him. He stroked her hair and shushed her whilst he rocked them both. Hank barged past them both at a slow pace, he limped into his house, the smell of blood led him to the room Connor laid dead.
"Jesus Christ," he whispered as he slowly approached. He nearly fell as he stopped by the bed, holding tightly to keep himself up. Connor's body laid still with his arms crossed over his chest by Brooke. "My son," he whispered.
"Brooke. What happened?" Gavin asked, trying to get her to speak. Brooke shook her head aggressively as she dug herself into his chest.
"He is gone," she screamed. The noise sent a shiver down Gavin's spine, Brooke knew Connor wasn't technically dead, but his body was gone and there was now no more RK800's left. Hank stumbled back outside.
"Where's Kamski?" he shouted at her, and she shook her head again. "Brooke!" he screamed.
"Hank, give her a minute, dammit," Gavin said as he waved him away. Hank grumbled and turned back into the house.
"Kamski!" he shouted. Chloe walked through with Kamski behind her. "What happened to him?" Hank shouted as he quickly approached Kamski but fell to the floor when he got to him. Kamski and Chloe both grabbed each side of him and pulled him into a chair in the entrance hall.
"The bullet had struck his Thirium pump, his body had a countdown and there was not enough time to save him." Hank dropped his head into his hands, he felt his heart racing, he had to slow down or another heart attack could occur. "I was able to save his memories and consciousness. I have already offered an idea to Brooke."
Hank shot his head up, hearing hope that he could get his son back. "What idea?" he shouted.
"There are no more RK800 bodies left at Cyberlife, you killed the last functional one. But, we still have the RK900 that has not yet been activated, I can transfer Connor to the body and it will be as if he never died." Hank stood up and started to wave his arms around.
"Well, what the fuck are we waiting for. Let's do it." Brooke and Gavin walked back inside, she could barely keep herself stood up straight.
"No, wait. Is this what he would have wanted?" she asked in a tired voice.
"Fuck yes, we are doing it. Kamski get whatever you need and let's go," Hank said as he started to push Kamski towards the room Connor's body was in.
"We need to go to Cyberlife tower," Kamski said. Brooke shook her head in defeat, she wasn't sure it was the right decision. Connor may wake up and hate his new body or wish they just let him rest.
"Okay, fine. We will follow in Gavin's car," Hank shouted as he snatched Gavin's keys and got into the car, already waiting with the engine running.
"You okay?" Gavin whispered to her. She shook her head again and left to get into the car. Her gut feeling was telling her to stop this.
They all got to Cyberlife tower within the hour. Kamski called ahead for the RK900 body to be ready for the transfer. Hank and Gavin argued the whole way there, either with Hank's terrible driving or about his rush with getting Connor back. Brooke kept quiet the whole journey, she couldn't stop crying.
Kamski led everyone to his office, the exact same place he did tests on Connor just a couple of months ago. Brooke walked in first behind him, her eyes instantly landed on the body of the RK900 laying dormant on the bed. It was the exact same as Connor, but the strangling collar shirt it wore was creepy.
Hank walked in with Gavin behind him, they both looked at the body. "Is that RK900?" Gavin asked. Kamski nodded at him as he started to gather his equipment with help from Chloe.
"What is the physical difference between both androids?" he asked. Brooke approached the body and started to poke and prod it.
"RK900 has nearly all the same technology used from RK800, but it is designed to be better, faster and smarter. His voice will be deeper, he is three inches taller than Connor and has grey iris'." Brooke's attention was grabbed at the eye colour, she walked around to the head of the bed and placed both her thumbs over its eyelids and pulled back. The sharp grey pupils looked right at her, with no emotion or life behind them. She gasped as she let go and stepped back several paces.
"You okay?" Gavin asked as he rushed over to her. She nodded with a small smile, Hank grumbled at her.
"Would you stop with that fucking attitude?" she shouted at him. Hank stared at her, his brows narrowed at her.
"You don't seem all that happy with him coming back," he accused. Brooke felt her blood run warm in anger.
"Because he won't be the same man I fucking love!" she screamed with all her might. Hank was taken aback by her words and quickly dropped his attitude. "Leave, both of you," she shouted at them both.
"Brooke-" She cut him off.
"Please, just go. I need to be alone with him, this is not the same as having a son, Hank. This type of love is different for us both... please." Hank nodded slowly, he and Gavin left the room. "Sorry," she whispered to Kamski.
"It is quite alright, Brooke. I am sure this is a lot of stress for you all. Are you ready to do this?" Brooke looked at the body, she was scared it might not be Connor when he woke up, or he will blame her for what happened or want to die again to get out of the new body.
The RK900 looked nothing like Connor, his clothes were posh. The high black collar, and white jacket that had his number and model written on it. "You know, that's the first time I have said I loved him."
"Really?" Kamski asked, she nodded.
"Yes, I said it before on a plane, but that turned awkward very quickly and we never spoke of it after that," she said with a whimper.
"Well, I am sure you can say it in just a few minutes," he replied. Brooke looked at him, she felt the tears fall again for the... she'd lost count of how many times she had cried that evening.
"Bring him back," she said. Kamski nodded, Chloe hooked the wires up in all the same places as before. They undid the buttons to its shirt, Brooke looked at the much more chiselled body of the RK900, it was paler than Connor, but the six-pack was very much visible.
"Starting transfer," Kamski announced as his computer started the percentage transfer. The RK900 body jerked slightly, its eyes fluttered behind closed lids.
"Is it okay?" Brooke asked. Kamski shook his head.
"The transfer is struggling. The trauma before Connor went into a dormant state is still present. He thinks he is dead and fighting the transfer." Brooke became fearful, she held the RK900's hand and squeezed tightly. "Brooke, you need to help him, make him come to this body."
"How?" The transfer spiked in the correction position as he heard her voice.
"Your voice, he is reacting to it." Brooke leaned closer to the body, she brushed his brown hair away from his ear and whispered to him.
"Connor, babe. Come back to me, you're okay. Just follow my voice, we need you back," she whispered.
"It's working. Transfer at fifty percent." Brooke placed both her hands over his forehead, letting him feel her warmth.
"That's me, my love. Please feel me back, I need you, Connor. I... I love you," she cried out.
The whole bed jolted when the transfer was completed. Connor had taken control of the body, his eyes fluttered open and stared at her. "I love you, too," the deep, masculine voice replied.
A/N: Well it only took 28 chapters, but we finally got I love you from them both. It was sad to say goodbye to Connor's old body, but it was time for an upgrade and the RK900 isn't around enough in most stories. I hope you all enjoyed it.
