"I love you, too," Connor replied. The grey hooded eyes looked at her, a small smile crept to his lips. Brooke threw herself onto the bed and on top of him, she kissed every part of his pale, less freckled face.
"It really is you," she squealed in excitement. Connor chuckled under her, he held her tightly as she nearly fell from the bed. Kamski dug the wires out from under him and discounted all his equipment.
"Let me sit up, Brooke," he said as he pushed them both up. Brooke apologised with another kiss before standing herself up. Connor looked down at his bare chest, his stomach was lined differently with the six-pack and his skin was paler. He was still to notice he had been transferred to the RK900.
"Hello, Connor," Kamski said, getting the android's attention. Connor looked past him and at the mirror that was attached above the sink, the first thing he noticed was the colour of his eyes. He jumped off the bed and ran to the mirror, he poked his cheeks where freckles once laid on another body.
"You didn't..." he quietly said. Brooke walked up behind him, placing her hand on his shoulder. "This is RK900, why?!" he shouted at them both. Brooke shivered in fear, the deeper voice made her fearful of him, not in awe.
"Connor, we had no choice. The bullet hit your Thirium pump, we had no other way of saving your old body," Kamski explained to him. Connor turned back to the mirror, he scoffed at the sight of himself. He looked ill by how pale he was, he was taller which he didn't like and his voice sounded like he had a problem with his throat. He hated this body.
"I didn't want this body, you knew this, Brooke!" he shouted at her. She tried to speak, but he cut her off by leaving the room. Everyone followed.
Hank and Gavin sat outside waiting until the doors slammed open and Connor rushed out, still partly shirtless. "Connor?!" Hank shouted as he got up and approached him.
"Whose idea was this?!" he asked in anger. Hank looked at Brooke who stood behind Connor, crying.
"Mine," he quietly said. Connor's mouth dropped open, he shrugged his shoulders in defeat.
"Was there really no other choice?" he begged Hank and even Gavin for the truth.
"It is true, Connor," Gavin answered. "We tried our best, but you lost so much blood and I think your body just... shut down." Hank nodded in agreement with the answer. Connor turned around as he looked at the ceiling, he held his hand out for Brooke. She quickly accepted and pressed herself against his chest.
"I'm sorry, Connor. We didn't know what else to do, none of us could handle life without you," she whispered against him. Connor shushed her, he held her tight and stroked her back.
"I am sorry I couldn't protect you," he said. Brooke shook her head with furrowed brows.
"No," she said looking up at him. "You gave your body up to save our lives, don't ever think you didn't protect any of us." Everyone nodded in encouragement to her words. Kamski pushed his way inside to speak to Connor.
"I need to run some tests on your body, I need to make sure all your programs are working correctly." Connor nodded, he finally let go of Brooke and hugged Hank, he even offered a half awkward hug to Gavin in thanks.
"Why don't you all go home?" he said. "You all need to clean up and get some rest. I am sure Kamski can look after me."
"Good idea," Brooke said. They all said their goodbyes to Connor and thanked Kamski for his help. Gavin dropped Brooke and Hank off home, they both went inside and went separate ways, Brooke went straight for the shower to get all the dried blood off her skin and Hank went to bed. Neither was ready to speak just yet.
Kamski spent four hours running just about every test known to man with Connor's new body. He was the picture of health, and there wasn't anything wrong with the transfer. Brooke had showered, napped and then left Hank's house to bring Connor home.
Chloe met her at reception, "hello, Brooke," she said in a chipper voice.
"Hi, Chloe. How is he doing?" she asked, both curious and worried that something may have happened to him. Chloe waved for her to follow towards the glass lift.
"Everything has gone well, there are no problems with Connor's new body." Brooke sighed in relief. The lift took them to the top of the tower. Brooke felt nervous seeing Connor again, she hadn't gotten the chance before to get used to his new body, and she knew the RK900 was meant to be scarier than RK800, more intimidating.
They both exited the lift and walked down the pristine white hallway to Kamski's office door. Chloe didn't knock, she opened the door and let Brooke enter first. She walked in to see Connor staring out of the bay windows with his back to her.
"Babe?" she whispered. Instantly he turned to his 'name'. The grey eyes looked at her, she felt a shiver go down her spine as his eyes roamed her body.
"Hello, my love," he replied. The voice nearly made her legs buckle. It was still Connor's voice just... deeper as if someone recorded his voice and modified it to be low and rumbling.
They both slowly walked towards each other, as they came to a slow stop Brooke held her hand out to him, he did the same and they both gently intertwined their fingers. He felt the same as the old Connor, just his skin colour was much paler and had fewer freckles, she wished he had the same amount if not more.
Connor moved closer to her, using his free hand to move over his hip. "I can see you got rid of that ugly shirt," Brooke chuckled as she looked down at the causal black shirt he wore. "I like this casual look on you."
"Thank you, the collar was... tight," he replied. Brooke chuckled again, she felt awkward, just like the first time they were alone together. Connor leant down to catch her lips. His new lips were bigger, which were somewhat warmer as well. Brooke hummed as they both passionately kissed, she pushed herself into him.
"Well, I see you both missed each other," Kamski shouted as he entered his office. They both quickly pulled away from each other. Brooke's cheeks were flushed red, Connor looked at her with a small smirk. She nearly melted on the spot, his grey eyes sucked her in, his height made her feel small but protected and his much stronger hold made her want him more. She had to calm herself down.
"Sorry," Brooke said, trying to get the attention away from her blushing cheeks and dilated pupils. Kamski gestured for them both to sit down across from his stupidly big desk.
"I am glad to see you both together, I have had news from the DPD." Brooke and Connor looked at each other, asking why Kamski was in contact with the DPD. "I've got contacts within the police force, and android being attacked are something I should know about. They are my invention after all," he added, reading both their thoughts.
"What has happened since the death of those two assholes?" Brooke asked, referring to the man and woman who killed Connor and nearly killed her and Gavin.
"Since their death, all their... little people have vanished. The massive clean up from the FBI and DPD has scared them all into hiding. The red sand transportation has all but stopped and no androids have been attacked since they were both killed. It seems you both found the people behind this and have stopped the attacks, well done." Brooke sat back with a sigh of relief, it had taken two months and the... death of her partner for one night for it all to end.
"Thank you Kamski, for all your help," Connor said, leaning over the table to shake the man's hand. Connor could now say he did trust Kamski with his life, he could have transferred Connor memory to anything, or keep it for himself. But he didn't, and let Brooke and Hank decide what to do with it.
"You are welcome, Connor. I am happy to see the RK900 body did not go to waste, but it was sad it had to be at the sacrifice of RK800, I wish you the best with your future in that body." Brooke squirmed at his words, she didn't want to think of the possible chance that Connor could lose another body, she didn't think she could take the emotional shock again.
Connor called Hank, reassuring the man about twenty times he was still alive and well. They both decided to go back to Connor's apartment for the night and be back first thing in the morning. They both wanted some alone time together.
It was near midday when they got home and Brooke was shattered, she only had three hours sleep out of the twenty-four hours she had been awake. She yawned the second they got out of the lift to his welcome hall.
"Tired?" Connor asked with a chuckle. Brooke nodded with a smile, they both went to the bedroom, she wasted no time digging out one of his t-shirts to wear. "Why don't you get some sleep, I need to speak to Markus."
"Shit!" Brooke shouted as she turned around the t-shirt halfway over her head. "I forgot to tell Markus about what happened to you, he asked where you were, but everyone ignored him since we rushed you to Kamski."
"I know, Brooke. I had thirty messages on my HUD from him, I've told him I am fine and I'd call him soon," Connor reassured her. Brooke sighed in relief, she felt so bad she didn't tell Markus and North about his shutdown, but it wasn't something at the forefront of her mind.
Brooke calmed herself down and got into bed, Connor pulled the duvet over her before bending down to give her a small kiss on her forehead. "I will come and join you when I am finished with Markus," he whispered. Brooke muffled a happy sigh and pulled her hair back to feel the warm pillow under her.
"I love you," she whispered as he headed out of the room. Connor turned at the door frame, smiling from ear to ear as the words melted his Thirium pump.
"I love you, too," he replied as he slowly closed the door behind him. The words still felt foreign to him, but he knew he meant it. He headed to the living to make the call, putting his finger to his forehead to connect. The RK900 model was built with the LED in place, but Kamski removed it before waking Connor up, the LED was long forgotten by him, and he didn't want another reminder of his old robotic life.
"Connor?!" Markus' voice asked in worry.
"Yes, Markus it is me," he replied to try to calm his friend. Markus was speaking quietly so he could only assume it was North before he finally got back to their own conversation.
"Why is your ID tag different? You are tagged through as RK900. What is going on?" Connor wasn't sure where to start, he forgot that his contact information will change with the new body.
"I am sorry to not have contacted you before," he replied. Connor then went into full detail of what had happened, from the bullet to him 'dying' and this his 'rebirth'. Markus barely spoke through the whole exchange and only asked the odd question.
"I see," he said after Connor finally caught him up. "I am glad you are alive, Connor. It might take us some time to get used to the new... you," he partly jokes. Connor chuckled softly.
"I am still acclimatising myself. It will become easier with time. I must go now, Brooke is still shaken up and I do not wish to leave her alone for long." Connor wanted to reassure her he was still there, he feared she might be thinking about what happened.
"I understand, I hope she is well and I will see you soon, goodbye Connor," Markus said as he ended their line. Connor dropped his hand, letting it sag by his hip, the new body was definitely different, he could feel it. He felt taller, slimmer and faster, but it wasn't him.
He pushed the thoughts to the side and went back to the bedroom. He found Brooke half dangling from the bed, her hair strung across her face as she quietly snored. Connor couldn't help but laugh at the way she looked. He climbed into bed and pulled her body into him, she barely stirred as she landed with a thud to his chest.
Connor didn't have to wait long for his body to fall into a dormant state, he felt ready to take on the world, but was mentally drained. He was ready for a night of just blissful sleep and rest.
A/N: I'M SORRY! I have been away for too long. Work and everyday life are just hectic. I've already got my idea for the next chapter, I am also thinking about how this story should end. I need more time, so for now you'll have more Connor and Brooke moments.
