A/N: Hi everyone! This is the second ending to the story. The happier ending for those that want that, enjoy!
Brooke had thought about this decision for nearly a year, it was a massive change for her and there was still the chance it wouldn't work.
A year prior Kamski called her and Connor to his office, he had been working on a new product. Something that shocked them both...
One Year Ago-
"Let me get this straight," Brooke says, looking at Connor in pure shock. "You want to give me a heart transplant and give me a Therium pump?"
Kamski nodded, it wasn't too hard for them both to understand. It scared Connor more than anything, he knew nothing about it and couldn't go off his statistics for once. "In short, yes," he replies.
Kamski leaned back in his office chair, hands hugged together over his chest. His Chloe stood by his side, a soft smile and nod with an agreement they should accept his offer.
"But, how do I know it will even work? We still have troubles with normal heart transplants nowadays. A Therium pump is a totally foreign object for my body." Brooke and Connor were enjoying married life before this happened, now everything they knew about humans and androids was thrown on the table, could it even be possible? Maybe one day a human and android could birth a child together.
Kamski stood up from his seat and moved in front of Chloe, she started to unbutton his shirt. They both watched with a slight dip in their heads as to why this man was stripping in front of them both. Chloe pulled his shirt off and walked across the room to a machine with a piece of x-ray equipment attached to it.
"Please observe," she politely asks them both. Kamski sits back down and lets Chloe put the cold gel on his chest. He barely flinches as she applies pressure with the scope, the screen lit up with a live image of his chest, but it wasn't a heart. It was a Therium pump, much the same as Connor's.
"Jesus... You have one?" Brooke shouts, her mouth dangling open in shock. Chloe takes the machine off his chest and passes him his shirt back.
"You see," he starts, buttoning his shirt back up. "I have done this to myself, of course with the help of Chloe. It has put my life expectancy up to one hundred and seventy-five years."
"The same as me..." Connor finally speaks. Brooke glances at him quickly before turning back to him.
"Correct, Connor. It can be upgraded to be longer, but I will not be giving this out worldwide. I am offering this to you and Hank," he explains, looking at Brooke the entire time.
"I... I don't know, Kamski. Can it fail?" Kamski looks down at his desk, sighing to himself. There was always a chance of things like this failing, but he always looked at the advantage, something most wouldn't.
"A heart transplant has an acceptance rate of thirty-two percent. My Therium pump transplant has a sixty-eight percent chance of being accepted by your body. I had no complications of my own and recovered at almost double the rate." He stood up and slowly walked across the room, looking out at his skyscraper windows. "I know my life's work will be under threat if I die. I need to make sure I can be there for androids for as long as I can. This was my answer."
"I... I need time to think about it." Brooke couldn't say anymore before she rushed out of the room, feeling the panic overtake her.
"I understand her fear, Connor. But this is your chance to not have her for just a period of your life. Give her this," he says as he passes Connor a leaflet, something Kamski made with all the information about the transplant.
"I will, thank you, Kamski."
"He wants to do what to my fucking heart?" Hank shouted, making Annabelle startle in the process.
"Language, Hank," Connor warned. Brooke picked Annabelle up and took her into the other room. "Look, I know it's a shock. But Kamski has done it himself, it worked. Brooke is debating it for herself. You should too."
"Fuck no," he yells as he stood up and waved his arms around. "He ain't putting some shit in my chest and making me live that fucking long. I hate this world as it is."
"You'd be with me for much longer though, Hank," Connor tries to reason with him. Connor feared all the time about Hank's growing age, he didn't want him to die.
"Mummy, why is dad upset?" Annabelle asked, she clung to Brooke's waist as they made cookies together in the kitchen.
"He wants your grandad to do something that may help in the future. Don't worry about it right now, hun. Help me with this batter," she says before placing some cookie batter on Annabelle's nose. The little girl squealed in laughter.
"I can't do it, Connor. Not for you... not even for Annabelle or Brooke. I love you all so much, but I will not tempt fate like this." He didn't give Connor the chance to reply before walking out of the room.
Present-day-
"Today is the day, babe?" Brooke says as she turns over in the bed. Connor held her tightly, his fingers brushing down her spine.
"Are you ready for this?" he asks. They had done all the research Kamski could offer them. Brooke's body will in turn stop producing normal human cells and will be converted to an androids processing shell. If her body does accept the Therium pump, then her normal red blood will be washed out with blue blood taking over and her organs will... stop. Knowing all this was scary for her, but Kamski told her to imagine it as a human becoming a vampire. Their body becomes frozen the moment they are changed.
Hank was with Annabelle for a few days, they both just wanted time for Brooke to recover before Annabelle came back and wondered what had happened to her mother.
"I'm scared but ready. I don't want to leave you or Annabelle before my time is ready and this is my answer to prevent that." Connor looked at her with hooded eyes, feeling upset with himself that this was the only way to keep her in his life for their long life expectancy.
"We should get ready," he says. Brooke nods and starts to get out of bed, but Connor stops her. "Brooke, you'll do amazing today, my love."
"I love you," she whispers. Connor pulls her down to catch her lips.
"I love you, too."
"Okay, Brooke. Chloe will be injecting the anaesthetic in just a few moments. This is your time to say goodbye." Kamski had already warned her she may not wake up from this and it could kill her. But the chance of being with Connor for a long time and not the downside of age getting to her made it all worthwhile.
"You'll be awake before you know it," Connor says as he brushes her hair from her face. The room was starting to fill with the sound of her heartbeat, that would be the last time they heard it.
"I will come back to you, Connor," she whispers, biting back the tears that formed in her eyes. Connor smiled at her, he leant down and stole a kiss from her.
"I know you will, my love." Those were the last words she heard before the world around fill dark. Connor felt her hand go limp in his and her eyes slowly closed, it shocked at first. But her strong heartbeat assured him she was just sleeping.
"Okay, Connor. It's time, Chloe will come and get you when we are done." Connor gave a small nod and left the room, he watched as they wheeled Brooke into theatre. He could only pray she would come back out of there alive.
Two hours had passed and nothing had happened, Connor still sat in the same seat. Staring at the door when Chloe walks out. It was only when his processes told him of a call that he finally broke his gaze.
"Connor?" Hank's voice filled his head. "How's Brooke? How's it going?" Connor sighed before speaking.
"I haven't been told anything yet, but I believe it's going well. I'm sure Kamski would tell me straight away if something had happened to her."
"I see, I hope it all goes well. Look, son. I owe you an explanation." The phone call went silent as Hank sighed to himself, "the real reason I didn't want this surgery wasn't just because it scared the shit out of me. But also because... I don't want to live that long, I am happy with the few years I have with you all."
"Why?" was all Connor could ask. It didn't make sense to him, he had been with Hank for such a long time. He couldn't imagine his life without him.
"I love you just like my son, and I will miss you dearly. But I miss Cole more, I want to be with him someday and the chance of living another one hundred years makes it all too long to wait for him." Connor finally understood, Hank missed his son, Cole. Hank always believed once he died, he would again be with his son. Drinking himself into an early grave seemed easier than just pulling the trigger.
"I understand now, Hank. This is the right choice for you, I believe this was always your path in life. I will just accept what we have left together and make the most of it." Connor felt his cheeks go warm, he didn't want Hank to die. He was his father and the closest thing to a family other than Brooke and Annabelle.
"You will always be my son, Connor. Never forget that," Hank says before ending the call. The man was never good with sentimental stuff, he would rather say his piece and leave the conversation quickly.
Two Months Later-
Brooke wasn't sure how the surgery was successful, but she didn't care. She woke up feeling more refreshed than ever, other than the slight pain in her chest. Kamski had done it, he'd beat the odds against him and nearly doubled her life expectancy and she'd gain a greater sense of health against disease.
Annabelle took some time to be told what had happened to Brooke, she instantly thought her mother was dying and cried for hours. But Connor was able to calm her down and explain to her in simpler words what exactly had happened. She was thrilled in the end.
Hank seemed sceptical in the beginning, but he finally came around and was happy with her new sense of life. Though he still stood by his word that the surgery wasn't for him. Kamski was not the happiest with the answer but was understanding of Hank's reasoning behind it.
Life was finally back to normal and happy for them all. Brooke looked out up at the night sky, she felt the cold nip at her, but it barely made her shiver. This new way of life was something she had craved for, for such a long time. "You okay, my love?" Connor asked as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Yes, the evening sky is beautiful. This will be an amazing life Connor," she whispers. Letting the wind tousle her hair.
"We are now the same. Forever and Always."
"Forever and Always," she agreed.
The End.
