When most people say that they have to live up to their parents' legacy, they're talking about grades, success, talent, even becoming the star quarterback or head cheerleader.

While my mother was a cheerleader in high school, that's not the legacy I had to live up to.

You see, in 1998, four years before I was born, the world was attacked by an alien by the name of Dark Specter. He was the Grand Monarch of Evil as well as the leader of a group called The United Alliance of Evil.

My parents defeated him.

My parents are Andros and Ashley Hammond.

My parents were the Red and Yellow Astro Rangers.

You're probably wondering why I say "were".

They, along with the rest of their team, T.J., Cassie, Carlos, and my uncle Zhane, went missing two years ago. Less than a month after the Legacy War in 2014.

I remember it vividly.

We were all in the simulation room playing basketball when they got the call. Someone was in trouble. I'd had a bad feeling about it, but no one listened to me. No one except my dad.

"We're rangers," He's said. "It's our job to help people, no matter the risk."

"But what if you never come back?" I asked him.

"We will. I promise."

I had started to cry at that point.

"I was gonna wait until your birthday, but..."

"I can wait!"

He laughed, "I know you can, Astra."

That was when he gave me my rocket necklace then left with his team.

That was the last time we saw any of them.

Now, it's just me, my brother, Orion, my cousin, Kara, T.J.'s and Cassie's twins, Derek and Delilah, and my aunt, Karone.

Aunt Karone takes care of all of us. She's been somewhat of our hero since our parents and Carlos went missing.

Now I'm fourteen and a freshman at Angel Grove High School. The same school my mother as well as many other rangers attended.

That's how I got into this situation.

It's nearly midnight and I'm working on a design for my fashion class. Mrs. Toweres says I have my mom's fashion sense. So does Aunt Karone.

Not many people know this, but Delilah always checks with me to make sure her outfit makes her look "stun. ning." as she puts it. I'm also always having to make sure Kara doesn't show up somewhere in her pajamas.

"What's the prompt again?" Aunt Karone asks.

I sigh. I'd told her she could go to bed but she refused. "'Make a design based on the closet of someone you admire.' As much as I love you, Aunt Karone, I don't think your leather will work for this."

"I know, Astra," she laughs a bit. "That's why you're doing your mother, correct?"

"Correct."

At this moment, I'm looking through old photos of my mom when she was in high school. Boy, were those 90's looks!

"Astra. Karone," the ship's AI, DECA, suddenly says through the loudspeakers in the room. "We are receiving a message."

I look at my aunt. "Who would be calling at this time?"

She shrugs and we head to the bridge.

"DECA, answer the call," I say as Aunt Karone and I get out of the elevator.

As the window turns into a computer screen and pulls up the video call, my heart stops.

Staring back at us is a man. His right eye is swollen shut and his left isn't much better, his hair is long and messy, his lip is busted, and he looks tired like he hasn't slept in years, he looks like his shower life is the same way.

But even through all that, I know who he is and suddenly I become a little kid all over again.

"Daddy!" I yell at the top of my lungs.

He smiles as soon as he sees us. "Hi, babygirl. Hi, sis."

"Andros!" Aunt Karone screams. "Where are you?! Where's Zhane?!"

"We're fine, Karone."

"You don't look fine!" I yell at him.

My father chuckles humorlessly, "I might have lied a little bit."

"Where are you, Daddy?!"

"We don't know."

"We?" I ask.

"Me, your mom, your uncles and Aunt Cassie. Other rangers, too."

"Are you all in the same place?"

"Most of the time."

"Most?" Aunt Karone asks, she sounds so scared. I've never heard her sound like this. Not even when they went missing.

Daddy frowns. "Sometimes they take us into another room and beat us. We can never fight back."

"WHY NOT?!" I scream.

"They chain us up and gag us."

I'm crying at this point. "Who's 'they'?"

"The United Alliance of Evil."

"WHAT?!" Aunt Karone screeches.

"They want you back, K."

"What are you talking about?" I ask.

But they ignore me.

There's a noise and Dad looks worried.

"I have to go."

"DADDY!" I scream.

He smiles, "We'll be fine, Astra. Find the next black ranger, her name is-" He's cut off and the screen turns back into a window.

I'm too shocked to say or do anything so I just stand there as tears fall down my face.

"I have to find them."
